Used 1995 Saab 9000 Consumer Reviews
highmileage saab
I drive my 9000 Aero every day. I absolutly hated it at first but then it grew on me and now I average about 300 miles a week. It is so fun to drive and corners so well. I recommend this car to everyone. the one thing saab did right was build this car.
An amazing car
First, this car is not for inexperienced drivers. It has tremendous acceleration and can hit 100mph before you know it. It runs best on premium fuel (97 octane?) and needs quality tires. I have put a LOT of miles on various 9000's over the years and really my only gripe is the AC system. Poorly engineered and a constant nuisance. My other gripe is the interior materials crack and/or fade. Terrific gas mileage (around 30 under all conditions), fantastic highway long distance traveler, engine/turbo/tranny are solid, and can really hold a couch or a fridge. One can sleep in the back with an air mattress! And I think it looks great too. UPDATE: Car is still going strong after all these years. Still love and it the very best cruising car I have ever owned.

Great car, good looks
I have had the old Saab 9000 hatchback, the '89-'94 saloon and an '82 900 4- door saloon. The 900 was not as reliable as the 9000s but was a lot more fun to drive. The only real complaints I had with the old hatchback were that the ride was compromised by the hatchback design (a big hole in the body-shell doesn't help torsional ridgidity) and the boot-lid rattled on rough surfaces. The saloon had neither of these faults and the new-shape (from '92 onwards for the hatchback CS) hatchback doesn't rattle at all or twist as much.
Great car, but get the warranty!!
I paid $3500.00 for this car 15 months ago. I LOVE the way it drives. The problem is that I have now put more into maintainance than I paid for the car!! A new clutch (inside the transmission housing), heater core and blower motor, A/C repairs, the cruise has never worked, the seat heaters don't work, the exterior mirror fell apart, the rear wiper stripped and won't work, the CD/Radio only works sometimes and the power antenna quit working, and now it is blowing smoke and smelling funny. This time I won't repair it...I could have bought a NEW 9-3 for the money it's cost me over the last year. In the words of Charlie Brown, "ARGHHHHHH!!!!!!"
Made To Last
The 9000 CSE is a fabulous design; it has the good qualities of many cars and is built to last. I especially like the 1993 version (this is my 3rd 9000) because it has Traction Control (TCS) and retained a decent glove box. Build quality and reliability improved over the dozen or so years they were built. Safety is paramount; I was T-boned by a minivan in my '95 and just opened the trashed door and walked. I bought another (the '93) right away! All this is enhanced by the service at the used-Saab-only dealer where I've bought them.
