Great Truck!
I puchased my 2004 Nissan Titan with less than 50 miles on it and I currenly have over 120K. There has been 2 recalls (brake shudder and wiring harness) and both were done quickly and efficiently. I have read where people wanted better gas mileage but you don't buy a heavy truck with a powerful 5.6L V8 engine and then complain about the mileage. I have towed 10K, loaded the bed to the point where it couldn't take anymore and everything worked as expected. I have replaced the rear axle seals and bearing with better than factory. Used only synthetic oils since 2nd change. It just keeps running. Never a hiccup or an issue. Been a great truck and I plan to keep it until it dies!
2004 Titan
I use this truck to Tow almost daily (about 4-5000lb trailer). Great tow vehicle. Mileage is about 10 towing. About 12 around town. I once got about 14-15 on the interstate and was thrilled! This thing eats brakes. Fronts every 25k, rears every 40k. Trim pieces are cheap, but the engine/trans has benn reliable. I would buy it again. (I would get 4wd though)

Great Truck.
I bought this used in November 14 for a decent deal. It only had 84K on it. It now has 88k and I feel confident all of the "First Gen" issues have been worked out (headers, rear axle vent fix, recalls, ect) Given the age I will need to change out some front bushing and shocks but other than that, it has been GREAT to have in the snowiest winter I've ever seen here in N.E. Wash it on dry days will keep it most of the rust at bay. Gas mileage is as expected for a 4x4, 12 city, 14-16 HWY.
Lights out
Have been pretty pleased with this truck. Dealer fixed brake problems early on. One thing though is that many times at night when I turn on the right hand turn signal the lights go off. This has scared the crap out of me as driving at high speeds at night and the lights go out when I turn on the right hand signal and a few times when I go from dims to bright. Anyone else experience this? Always in a panic to turn them back on.
Perfect Truck For The Road Or For Towing
Haven't had this truck long but it's great on 300 hp performance with 370ft/lb torque. 32valve 8 cyl. 5 speed auto. 5.6L SE model. I've Towed 6,500lbs and had no issue in power loss. Would have probably maxed it at 9,000 lbs. The only issue is if you don't have 4x4 don't expect to get the best out of this truck. Great truck for casual driving, long rides, work truck, or hauling your RV. Gets the job done right!

Super Big Truck
The workmanship and quality of my 2004 Titan pickup is superb. It is by far the best truck that I have owned. I have owned 20 trucks so far in my life and I am 73 years old. I drive it up the mountain to our cabin every week end and it performs very well up and down. My mileage is nearly 16 miles per gallon in the city. That is using the air and regular gas. The performance on the Hiway is excellent and get nearly 23 mpg, traveling 70-75 mph using the AC. It has a very comfortable ride, even on long trips. Plenty of storage room for luggage and supplies when we go up to our cabin in the mtns. (7000 feet) Good performance in the cool weather, even when there is snow on the road.
2004 Nissan Titan
This truck has been awesome to own. The only complaint I have is the horrible fuel economy, but I didn't buy this truck to save gas. Power is awesome. Very agile truck for it's size.
Used Dissapoinment
All the hype about Nissan's maintaining their value must be a joke. I bought an 04 Titan used with 9000 miles and within the first month have had it in the shop for four different problems. Windshield wiper fluid reservoir leaked, power windows stopped working, cupholders broke, passenger side rear door wouldn't open, a total mess within the first month of ownership. And it also doesn't help when the dealer doesn't care and will get to it when they can. Other than that, I like the truck, it looks good and rides great. Just a few things going wrong ruins the experience, especially stuff that shouldn't break on a truck with 9,000 miles
My Speed Machine
The titan by far is superior in size, power and room when you campare it to similar trucks and sport cars. I love everthing about the vehicle but I had to get use to using roll up windows and making sure the doors are locked (XE's do not come with power windows and door locks and I did not want to get carried away with options). The best part about this vehicle is its power and some people think the vehicle is so expensive from the looks. I was able to upgrade from my 99 Sentra to this beast for $48 dollars more a month ($328 over invoice and 2% financing helps alot). But with gas so dang high I can not travel freely without thinking about that low MPG.
Titan really rolls
great truck, runs great loads of torque, gobs of power.. surprisingly thrifty on fuel
My Titan
I got the cheap Titan, but it is by far fancier than other makes, for a basic. The looks are great and the room is just as great. The only thing that I wish was better was the gas mpg, but I have to remember, it is a titan. Thank goodness cruise control is standard equipment, because this truck really hauls.
Feature rich compare to Ford F150
Very enjoyable truck! It has power baby! POWER! I have been reviewing this truck for 5 months before buying it. I was planning to wait until December, but could not wait any longer, I wanted it. I'm a long time vehicle holder, I'm expecting this truck to last without many break downs. Get a knowledge salesman and take the Ford 150 over and compare the difference. I believe edmunds.com know what their talking about when they selected this truck. (some body there did there homework!) Bottom line, it's a BIG TRUCK for a Nissan company. I'm proud to own it!
Awesome
I test drove a ford f-150 xlt triton, a chevy silverado 1500 and a 2500HD and a tundra. i test drove the nissan titan last, and that was my final test drive. I've had my titan for less than a month and i wouldn't buy any other truck. this truck has so much power and interior room. overall, i give this truck a 10 out of 10.
Time Tested Review
Satisfied owner after 3 1/2 yrs / 50k mi. 2 recalls (FT rotors & R doors). Normal driving 15/16 City 17/18 hwy. Solid engine and drivetrain gives you a feel of confidence in this vehicle. Excellent interior room, handling, acceleration, ride comfort, and large windows that will spoil you from enjoying other vehicles of this class and price range. Paint, trim, and OE 18 alloyed wheels have proven the test of time without defect. Highly recommend potential ½ ton P/U buyers test drive before buying from the competition.
Wouldn't own another Nissan
This truck has numerous recalls. I had to replace the entire rearend because Nissan couldn't replace leaking rear axle seals. They replaced it with a rearend from a newer year. $2700. Fuse box went bad. $425. Never had that happen before. Have to press gas pedal to start it now. Nissan has no idea what's wrong. Interior light problems. Electric window problems. 4x4 sensor problems. Front seats falling apart.
Like a Sherman Tank
I love this truck. It's powerful, reliable, and has a great look. My daily driver for 7 years, the only issues have been problems with the rear breaks 3 times since I owned it. Have had basic maintenance outside of that. Highly recommend.

My first titan truck
I have bought a Nissan Titan SE King Cab with the Bench Popular Package and the Utility Bed Package . I paid 25,500 so after tax title and license it was 26,996. There is a lot of space inside this truck I can fit 3 kids in back with there child seats and have room to spare. There also is a lot of storage space inside example: overhead console, door panel, and the center console. I like the auxiliary plug that is intergraded into the stereo for my MP3 player The quality from the stereo is ok not the best. Also driving at night the light from the stereo is reflected to the back window and then to the rear view mirror which is annoying. But over all this truck is great.
Titan
This is the best truck around. I have driven in Chevies, Dodges, and Fords and they do not compare. The Tundra is less powerful, smaller, and less sporty inside and out (current model). As far as other complaints about gas mileage, I get as good or better than my friends in domestic full size trucks. Nissan put in all the features on their first try with a full size truck.
KEEP TRYING NISSAN
Power is good but if the engine is built with the same quality as the rest of the vehicle I worry about the reliabilty. Driving the Titan is good but certainly not exceptional. I was fortunate that my truck came complete with scuffed/damaged tires and a door ding, thus saving me the worry of my first parking lot injuries. At least the paint didn't have the big clearcoat sags I noticed in another Titan. The passenger door lock and the low pressure warning light are items to be fixed, but with the confidence I have in the dealership I think I'll suffer these problems until Nissan send the recall notice! I'll listen to the ratings next time.
Good, but could do better
Bought new in 04 and I have had several problems with it. First my windshield washer tank was cracked. Then it went to the infamous brake shudder, took it in 3 times before Nissan came out with a fix. Paint has chipped off the painted front bumper plastics. Dash rattles, seats rattle. Rear end leafs squeak. Most of this is minor and it didn't really bother me that much. I have had Chevy and dodge and i've had problems with them too.
Titan
After 30000 miles in a Frontier, having a bigger truck with way more HP is a great thing. This truck is comfortable, yet has a lot of muscle for hauling big loads. I wish I'd bought it sooner.
2005 Se king cab: Glad i bought it
Can't say enough about this vehicle. Have owned both Chevy and Ford trucks and after owning it for just one month, it's head and shoulders above both. It has pleanty of power, interior room and a ride that's smooth as silk. I have the King Cab version ( extended cab) and the interior room and seat comfort were put to the test recently. Two 17 year olds, both 6 feet tall, in the back seat for 3 hours each way. The guys said the seating was ok, but 3 hours was the limit for the back seat. Those 3 hours were pure enjoyment for the driver. Great driver's seat (captain), driving position and very smooth ride.
Repeat Nissan Buyer
As one of the first owners of the 350z coupe in 2002, I had a unique opportunity to evaluate the "new" Nissan, and wasn't disappointed. When my job required a pickup truck, going back to the dealer to look at a Titan was a sure bet. As a direct result of the excellent performance, reliability, and dealer service on my 350z, I had no problem taking home a Titan, especially after a test drive. Interiors have improved dramatically from 5-10 years ago, and the mechanicals are still world-class. At the price point, this truck was by far the best in class. Very solid and sturdy feeling. I went back to Nissan, and will go back again to buy my next vehicle, no question.
Definitely a Titan
I purchased my Titan SE Kingcab RWD approximately 10K miles ago. Still happy. I could stand better gas milage since the best I have achieved is 17.5 on a trip but when you buy a 5.6l V8...you don't buy for milage. Had a Tundra and it was great for the first 50K and then turned into junk. Am pleased with the handling, ride, and the sound of the pipes. Had the passenger side window motor fail but it was replaced under warrenty. No other issues. Great truck... lots of power...and will compete against any truck it's size for towing or hauling. Very pleased.
Tundra What?
This is it, except for the new Ford nothing comes close. I wanted a Tundra in the worst way however Toyota has a lot of improving to do. It was a close call between the F-150 and titan however the Titan won me over with it's all around competance. If you took the motor/tranny from the Titan and put it in a F-150 you would have possibly the best selling truck for 5 years with no major changes. I did like the F-150 interior though.
Pick of the litter
I am obsessed with getting value for my money and it's my nature to crib about everything I buy. But everytime I look at the Titan on my driveway, I can't stop smiling. It looks cool and has a more urban touch than the roundish dodge rams and F150's. I test drove every combination of every model of every maker. Other trucks felt like they have been put together from seperate pieces. When they move, it is the engine dragging the rest of the body. The Titan feels like one tight unit. Integrated. The whole thing has been designed to be one powerhouse. Fun to drive, smooth as silk, responds to the pedal without hesitation. Only a matter of time that it becomes numero uno choice of America.
V-8 power is awesome
Plenty of get up and go . Fun to drive and very reliable. Could do better on MPG but still overall a very solid vehicle.
Big Truck
When shopping for a new truck, I only looked at the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan. Thought that the Japanese makers would have higher quality. But after only 4 months of ownership thing are already going wrong. The brakes stared to shimmy after only 2 months and the interior is already starting to fall apart. Buttons on knobs are falling off. The rubber around the door is also falling off. For a full- size pick-up truck, this thing is a little too refined and fragile on the inside. This makes me wish I had looked at the more traditional U.S. makers such as Dodge, Ford, and GMC, or went with the Toyota.
Titan burly exhaust note
As to the con: burly exhaust note, this is actually one of the best features. The titan sounds awesome. Unfortunately thats the only good I see. Titan has known issues with the brakes. Apparently they chose a rotor that the metal distorts and causes the rotors to warp and the steering wheel shakes really bad. I had them done first at 13k miles and again at 19k miles. The first fix they cut all 4 rotors, and now there is a horrendous noise in the front suspension, second time they replaced the fronts with the same thing that was on there before and again said they cut the rear rotors. The service manager told me to keep bringing it back. I dont want to keep bringing it back.
Titan is Superb!
I got the king cab w/ leather. I've only had it a week and a half, but I absolutely love the thing. Great handling, acceleration and power. 6 CD changer by Rockford Fosgate is the bomb! Had GMC's for years and this just blows it away. Made in U.S, too. Way too many little things to mention. Very well thought out machine. My buddy works at the dealership and he went to Texas for a closed road testing all day. He was very impressed w/ handling and braking. Has disc brakes all around. I would highly reccomend it. The only thing I really dislike is the gas mileage but it should get better as engine breaks in.
Wife loves my Titan more than me!
It's easy to tell that Nissan put alot of thought, money, and effort into developing the Titan. What an awesome truck! Easily the best vehicle period I've owned or driven. Smooth power. Lotsa power. Great suspension with my off road pack. Comfy, quiet (except for the head-turning V-8 burble}, Excellent interior layout. It goes on and on. My only beef is with my column mount shifter. Without fail when shifting to park my hand comes down and turns on the wipers. Obviously it is a minor quirk in an otherwise great truck, especially for a first effort. Can you imagine what the 2007's will be like after all the tweaking gets done?
Titan is an appropriate name!
I had towed my 9 year money pit Dodge Ram and bought this after reading many reviews. This truck is the best truck I've ever owned. My only knock on this King Cab model is the doors closing. Sometimes, you have to slam it or it won't close. All those complaining about fuel economy - its a pickup truck for God's sake. The power is incredible and the features are as well. You won't find a more affordable, powerful truck anywhere. I have not had any of the radio problems others talk about but their problem might be the feature on the stereo that changes volume with speed which can be turned off. Nissan hit a home run with their first full size truck!
Just a Big 10
Excellent Handling and Performance, lots of comfort and the safety features are great, from the down hill decent that allows the engine to do the breaking, the vehicly dynamic control is great in all weather, and with it off the truck has better performance. Smooth transmission, ride and excellent sound system. Convient rear seats that do it all, passenger seat that folds flat, and the style everyone likes. I think Nissan took the best of all trucks on the market, gave excellent quality, and gave it a great price. avg mpg town and hwy 17.6 mpg. 4wd is very smooth to shift in and out. A perfect 10, and priced right!
Nissan Titan
This is a fine truck. I was hesitant to buy the first year production of a truck but it has worked out ok with one exception. The performance of this truck is great. It is fast. The drive is like a car. The exeption (this truck has 11k miles on it) the driver's electric window recently broke, won't role up. Other than that problem, I'm extremely happy with the vehicle. The pricing on the Titan is very competetive. Though I was attracked to the Dodge truck, it was quite a bit more expensive. I'm quite happy with my purchase.
Great truck.
This is an outstanding vehicle. I've owned many different trucks through the years and this is near perfect. Only a few things hold it back. Interior materials are subpar compared to other makes. There is a lot of chrome, which to me is not needed. Body style is fantastic. Now to the outstanding features. 1. Innovative styling-both interior and exterior. 2. Good group of options. 3. Best drive train available in any truck, period. 4. Brakes are outstanding. Overall I love this machine.
Titan From Repeat Nissan Buyer by Hirby
Purchased Titan SE, Big Tow Package, 4X4 OffRoad Package February 2004. I had a Reese 5th Wheel inatalled. I have made several trips pullng by 8500lb Wildcat 5th wheel RV. Longest trip was Little Rock, AR to Jackson, WY and back 3500 mile round trip. No problem topping 8500 ft pass in WY, average gas milage 8.5 MPG with 5th wheel trailer. Truck has 17000 miles at present time with only one problem. A bad AM radio which Nissan replaced in August
Best truck I've ever owned
Simply put, this is with out a doubt the best truck that Ive ever owned. Ive had Toyota (great reliability but kind of underpowered), Dodge (OK reliability but zero fun factor), and a Ford (good looking truck but near 100k time to break out the check book for the up coming repairs). So far the reliability is what you would expect, perfect. Time will tell the long term reliability though. The best thing about this truck is the drive train. Its as close to perfect that Ive found in a truck. HUGE fun factor here. Plus, I get lots of compliments from people especially when I say Its a Nissan.Bottom line, Id buy another one of these again in second if I had the chance.
titan gone bad
driverside rear seat belt still not working right since may. had truck in for worped rotors fixed but worped again. had brake recall done still getting shaking when braking around 30mph. stereo reception sucks, power windows will not come up when pulling up on switchs the first time. front bumper is not aligned properly. maybe i just got a lemon or could it be it was built on a monday or friday.
small business owner
nice truck lots of power fun to drive. sticker reads 15 city and 19 highway. i get 10 city and 15 highway. doors don't close very well, passengers allways close twice. g.p.s. is not user friendly. when you are driving your passenger can not use the gps and pulling over so you can use it is not allways possible. that's sucks. hunda has a better gps.
Faulty Evaporator
Outside of the engine and the premium sound system, I would not buy this truck again! Apparently, there's a waiting list from Nissan, including myself, for a known problem with the AC evaporator unit, which is behind the dashboard, that when it dies, they currently do not have a replacement and you'll have to wait for several months/year for one. Never buy a Nissan again!
No Problems yet.
I bought it used at 69k and now it has 92k. No problems. It's fun, fast and solid. Black with DK Grey leather. It's a great truck, I want to sell it because i want a Vette.
I love it!
The handling was the best truck experience I have ever had. The R&P steering set up makes the drive smooth. I have driven new chevys Dodges and Fords the titan beats them all. The only reason someone shouldn't buy this truck is if they have to have a deisel motor. I swear all it takes is a test drive and you are blown away! The exceleration is amazing! Each shift has such ease that you can't even feel the change. Anyone in the market for a truck HAS to give the Titan a shot. You have to experience this truck to really appreciate it. So go drive one! I promise this is a truck that will make the the husband and the wife happy!
2004 Titan
purchased new and has been spraying gasoline out filler neck when re- fueling. Dealer has replaced evaporative canister 3 times and fuel tank once. Just returned at 43k and dealer and Nissan refused to repair item.
Cracton
The vehicle runing gear is solid but the paint and inteier is junk.

Titan quality as bad as 80s-era Hyundai
Titan quality is horrible! Really, terribly bad, not just a little bit bad. At 350 miles (my 2nd $50.00 tank of gas) interior and exterior trim pieces are falling off or splitting apart in 5 places. Vehicle quality is on par with 80s-era Hyundai or 70s-era GM. I bought Japanese seeking quality. Big mistake! I greatly regret buying this vehicle because its quality is abysmal. The truck is extremely annoying in other ways. The blinkers are excruciatingly loud, so I'm having to learn NOT to use them! The stereo volume continually increases and decreases on its own. Seats are uncomfortable. Engine noise is annoying. Materials are 2nd-rate. Suntrup dealership is unhelpful.
overall experience thus far
bought my titan kc 4x4 this past december. although this is a new product for nissan, they have done their homework. this is one awsome vehicle. the power is incredable. when you step on the gas pedal, its acceleratration is unlike any truck ive ever driven,or any regular passenger car for that matter. although it has less than 800 miles on it,i think this truck has something to say to the big 3.i'm sure there will be some issues being its first year for this truck, but nissan has been building trucks a long, long time.
Great Truck, Except for the Brakes
Bought this last year for a work truck, wife liked it so much she started driving it and didn't give it up. It rides great, very comfortable and has plenty of power. The Rockford Fosgate sounds good, volume adjusts with speed, (dont know if the 30000 mile review guy knows this) The only problem has been the brakes. I have had it in once, at 6000 miles, but they are starting to go again. If Nissan can't figure it out I will switch to Brembos. The gas mileage could be better, I have a 65 mile round trip commute and 16 mpg doesn't cut it. (this is why I am driving the wife's car)A friend of mine has one as well, he switched to syn. oil and diff. exhaust and got 20 mpg, but it should be better
Best Truck out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ford f-150 lowest safety rating. Check out this titan. It is the best vehicle i have ever driven. The sellsman at lake manawa nissan are superb.
My 04 Titan has been a good truck
I really like this truck. At 40,000 miles it drives like new, no problems. I like how the rear doors open out of the way. Tie down system in the bed is very handy.
JUST DRIVE IT
THIS IS THE BEST TRUCK I HAVE EVER DRIVEN IS THIS CLASS!I HAVE DRIVEN THE NEW FORD 150 AND THIS TITAN IS THE BEST .FORGET ABOUT THE DODGE,CHEVY AND THE TUNDRA CANT COME CLOSE.THANKS NISSAN!!!!!
