Tons of power 5.6 v8 Hemi Killer
I have owned Dodge, Ford, and Chevy trucks and this Titan is the best truck I have owned to this day. Most powerful fun to drive vehicle I have ever had. Great for working or playing. Tows like a big dog and more interior room than my Dodge Ram Quadcab had. Very sporty truck.
Much better built than my 02 Ford F 150.
Awesome power and towing capability. It just seems like it is built better than my 2002 Ford F 150. I really like the 6 disc changer. I would recommend it to anyone.

the truck
This is a awesome ride and is great on road and off road. this is a all around great truck for the price.
Ford has found it's match...
I am extremely satisfied with my new Titan. Sticker w/ Popular package was 27,200, Invoice was 23,800, and I purchased for 22,100 including $1500 rebate, and before TTT&L fees. The truck has a commanding road presence, drives like a dream, can pull a bus, and is full of innovative features. Before you buy a Ford, Dodge, or God Forbid, Plastic Rattle Trap GM, 3 of which I've owned, do yourself a favor and at least drive this truck first. I guarantee you will favor this vehicle over the any of those trucks. The domestics are built on ancient technology..the Ford is definitely comparable, but overall, the Titan prevails. The best bang for you buck
Great buy
This is an addendum to my earlier review. Just wondering if anyone else has had any problems. At 3000 miles, my rotors are completely warped. The dealer told me that they got a bad bunch of pads and will replace all the rotors and pads whenever they become available. Today my shift linkage broke. Overall a great truck if they get the bugs out.
Great for the price
Beside the bolts on the tie rodes not tightened resulting in a trip back to the dealership and the light always going on for the low tire pressure, I really like this truck. The gas mileage is about 11.5 mpg which I don't think could get any worse. But it is a truck and it is very user-friendly and the ride is great.
Unsure of issue
I have a 2004 King Cab and I love this truck. I just don't like the noise coming from somewhere whenever I'm making a turn as I come out of our driveway or the parking lot. It seems like it's a steering or brake issue, I'm not sure. (Only noticeable when the engine is still running for under 2 minutes or so.) I've read about people often changing their brake rotors and pads. I remember having a brake judder when she was still about 5k miles. But I took it to the dealer and they corrected the problem. I'm not sure if they replace the rotors and pads though. I plan on keeping her and will replace the pads and rotors to aftermarket ones if I have to.
First review...1000 miles
We bought the truck on 12 Jan 2004 and in the last week we have put just over 1k miles on her. SE King Cab 2WD model with the Pop Bench Pkg, Big Tow Pkg and Bed Pkg. $1400 under MSRP was the best we found after shopping 4 lots in our area over 2 weeks. Out of 35 trucks they had, less than 5 now. So getting them far below MSRP is not gonna happen here in Socal. Were actually going to replace my wifes 99.5 Pathfinder with an '04 but after she has seen and driven the Titan it was a no brainer. $3k less than the Pathy. My wife just can't wipe the grin off her face. And to tell the tructh, niether can I. I love the power and feel of this Full Sized TRUCK!
Nissan hits the mark the first time out!
This truck is living up to the hype. After clocking over 300 miles in the first week the impression of quality craftsmanship is what I take from the Titan experience. Power is strong anywhere in the RPM range and the transmission is so smooth, the only way you can tell it is shifting is by the louder growl from the engine. Gas mileage through the first 300 miles was 13.32 mpg but I expect that to improve once the vehicle is broken in. Best advice I can give is that if you are in the market for a new truck, try them all out and choose what you like best which in many cases, if given the chance, will be the Titan.
That thing got a Hemi? Nope, better.
You simply cannot buy more truck for the money. Ford and Chevy have Nissan on the interior niceties, but drivetrain, engine, and usability define the Nissan
Best Full Size Truck of 2004 (compare)
Well I first whent only to look. Then after driving it I was in Love!! I had to have it. The power this truck has is awsome! I would pic this truck over and of the rest! It handles like a dream and sits up so you feel taller than all the comp. All in all this truck cant be beat. Just look for your self. Do a comparison on the rest and you will see..
Not too shabby....
Handles beautifully, so comfortable. As someone said above, back to the dealership within a day of buying, and again within a week. The lights staying on on the dash are a problem with the offroad package: a clip bent by the front passenger side tire made the cable go into the rim and get worn through by the tire causing the ABS, VDC and slip light to stay on - which means there was actually no ABS in the front. The dealership was able to fix this, along with a rattle in the front dash.
The Best in It's CLASS
I had owned many trucks, large and small. I feel this vehl. is the best that I have driven. It has power, comfort and style, and is a head turner. I own a repair garage and have checked the truck over very close and have not found any problem or defects. It is a very well thought out vehl. I think it is the top of it's CLASS.
the best truck
i think the titan is the best truck ive ever owned its cool looking it's a tuff truck and its powerful but it needs to come with a grill in the bottom of the front bumper. but its still a good truck.
DRIVE ONE !!!
I have been a Ford man for 30 years. After problems with my last two I decided to try something new.So far I love this truck.I opted out of the "Big Tow" & "Offroad Pkg" to get better mpg. With 2500 miles on the truck I'm getting 16-18 mpg (Better than my 5.4 Fords & lots of smooooth power).Silky transmission. DRIVE ONE !!!
Fantastic!!!!
A smooth ride with tons of power. Truck looks and feels great. Spacious and luxurious. You WILL be envied. Nissan did a great job with this truck
Powerful American truck, foreign badge
Awesome truck, great power, gas milage is not too bad. Factory 6 disc cd player is good until you crank it up past 19 (it goes to 31) then it distorts beyond normal expectations.
titan is good
Had bad, ( soft rotors at new ) they fixed that. Transmission slipped at 37K, was some type of switch. The trans. from the beginning of owning it, sometimes when taking off, feels like you took off on a spot of ice, wheels slip for a moment. They don't know what it is. Also, at a light, it feels like someone bangs into you lightly, they say common.
what a ride
This truck is a pure and flat out blast to drive!! And the power.....ohhh the power!! The smoothness of the ride is unequaled..and I test drove the ford and Dodge Ram before I finally drove the Titan!!I am a Titan man for life!!
What a Truck
This is the best truck I've ever owned. The engine and transmission are great. Most of the power is at the low end where you need it most (I use mine as a truck not as a hot rod). The cab is roomy, and the exterior is great. The utilitrac bed makes securing any load a breeze. I have overloaded this truck including 1200lb pallet in bed with 300lb toolbox plus other tools and the suspension did not bottom out, and the truck handled the load with no problems. If you are shopping for a full size truck you need to test drive this beast.
2004 Titan
Everything you would hope to expect from a full size truck. More value in standard equipped version. Chevy & Ford dealers tried to sell option loaded trucks which was'nt what I was looking for. Handles very well even in our recent rain storm. Only down side I've encountered is it has tendency to get bouncy over Socal freeway joints. But considering it's towing capacity, I guess that's expected. Otherwise extremely happy so far.
love the titan
Titan has great power which is very noticeable when wanting to make that quick on ramp sprint. The ride is good as long as the road is smooth. I recommend getting the off road package well worth the money. The interior is great ergonomically but the materials used on the dash, center shift console, and the seats are of inferior quality. Handling seems to be superior to other trucks according to truck trend, which by the way gave the titan 2005 truck of the year. Don't let the numbers full you though, the titan will pull just as good as the hemi or the 5.4 triton. Hope this was helpful and hope that maybe you will become a titan owner.
FUN IN THE MUD
I have only owned my truck for a couple of weks, however the first time I rode in it I knew it was something different. I have been a dedicated GM man, but after the transmission problems I have experienced from gm trucks I thought I would try something different. This truck is powerfull, nimble and tough in the mud, espically the OFF Road pkg. The first night I took it to the local mud pit and tried to sick it. After learning to turn off the VDC it was almost unstoppable. Both of my two friends were very impressed, that is saying a lot since one owns a lifted fullsize dodge and the other a lifted F-150.
King Titan
We bought a Titan last spring and immediately drove it halfway across the country to Vegas. It rides like a sports car, looks like a million bucks, sounds mean as hell, and on top of all of that gives fair gas mileage. I'd suggest getting a tonneau cover to bring up the mpg a bit. I'm looking forward to our next long trip in it. There's not many other vehicles I'd say that about.
LOVING IT SO FAR
I have loved nissan trucks for years. I feel they have transfered the quality and durability they have had for years in their smaller trucks and put it into this truck.
04 LE KC 4x4 Big Tow
Awesome truck...Killer engine...in your face styling...great Utilitrack system...comfortable seats with power memory and power pedals...a blast to drive and you will stand out from the crowd!
Titan Radios Suck! Wake up Nissan!!!
This truck would be a excellent if Nissan didn't try and push off their crappy radios. Don't be fooled by Nissan, a lot of Titan owners are having problems with the FM reception on the factory radio. One minute the FM sounds great in stereo, the bext it sounds like a clock radio in AM.
Save some time and read
I tested the F-150 & Tundra. I was going with the Tundra until I read about the Titan. Most room and best ride of all. Ample power, and handles very well. Before you buy the Ford, be sure to drive it up a hill.
GOOD TRUCK
I ENJOY IT VERY MUCH. IT IS A FUN, SAFE, RIDE!!
Drive this before you buy another
Purchased crew cab LE, 4X4. Beautiful vechicle inside and out. Not the Nissan of old! Responsive stering, throaty exhaust and a tight suspension make this truck very fun to drive. My wife was nervous to drive it because she thought it would drive like a big, clumsy truck but once she got behind the wheel she did not want to give it up! If you are thinking about buying a Chevy, Dodge or Ford (Tundra does not compare) then you should test drive this truck! You won't be sorry! Only thing I can say negative is that they are not readily available yet and this causes the dealers not to deal much. These trucks are selling at MSRP or not much off at all.
Thirsty Titan
Really love the Performance, and sound of the truck. Really quick. LE has an awsome Rocksford Stereo system, and has a sub-woofer under the drivers seat, you can feel the thump. Good A/C, lighted tailgate, sprayed in bed-liner, tie down system. Now for the bad news. This truck gets terrible gas milage. No matter how you drive it, easy, hard, fast or slow, it only gets 14-15.8 MPG.
great fun
It drives and handles great. It has plenty of performance. The interior is very comfortable. It is easy to load items in and out of it.
Goodbye F150
Sold my 97 F150. Loved it, great truck. Was on my way to get a 2004 and stopped in the Nissan dealer. Test drove the Titan and then the Ford. Drove home with a Titan. Oodles of torquey power. Handles like a sedan. Towing capacity, bed capacity, resale value, Its all there. Plus, it feels right. It doesnt feel as big as it is. Bottom line, functional and fun. Re: reliability, it is new so stay tuned
Look out American Truck Manufacturers!
I've owned 3 GMC 1500 trucks which I've used for towing my horse trailer and have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of a true full size truck from a foreign automaker. The Nissan Titan has far surpassed my expectations. If you test drive the Titan, you'll want one too. I purchased my Titan from Nissan of Keene in NH which was a great experience. I would definitely recommend this dealership. I'm amazed that no other automaker has thought of the conveniences that are part of the Titan. This is an incredible truck with many great features that blows away its competition.
Nissan Titan is one great pickup
The Titan is like a full sized pickup and SUV combined. As a pickup owner for many years, I tried an SUV for 3 years and found I really missed the pickup. The Titan filled the void with added bonuses. It's got power, great amenities, smooth ride, and superb handling while still feeling like a rugged pickup. My wife has to drive the truck quite a bit due to her job and she loves it as much as I do.
initial impressions
when i opened the door of the titan, i was immediatly impressed by the two tone leather interior & the colors chosen to blend together. on examining the exterior, i was impressed with the spray on bedliner & the plastic rub strips in the floor of the bed. very practical & useful. a minor note that i saw, was the crush zones on the front frame extentions. these appear to be serviceable, & if they are, then will be very useful in collision repairs. other trucks either fail to offer this feature, or only offer the entire front frame section, still requiring removal of the entire cab assembly for proper access for welding.
Best Truck I have ever owned!
The power in this truck is great. It takes off like no truck I have ever driven. The fit and finish have been excellent. It handles very sporty for a big truck. It is very comfortable and the ride is very good. Utility bed and VDC are only available on this truck. It is a great towing truck for a 1/2 ton.
my titan
I love my Titan, when buying my new truck i was at first interested in the f-series but to no avail I bought the Titan instead. the tian is much more bang for the buck
300 miles and still here
well driving the titan is a great exp the power is wow the tranny is quiet. IT IS LIKE A INFINTI PICK UP THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WAS WITH THE CLOCK COULD NOT SET IT AND ONE THAT I TEST DROVE IT WOULD NOT LOAD CDS THE RUBBER AROUND PASSENGER DOOR IS COMING OFF.
Not bad for first time out
Very impressed with the Titan. Drove a Tundra prior and there is no comparison. The Titan is bigger, roomier, and definately more powerful. Sure the Tundra is more refined and luxurious but this is a truck, not a Lexus. The Titan identifies what the truck owner needs.
Titanium
It is a pretty good vehicle lots of room and good to tow your boat
Brakes warp
I own a 6,300 lb travel trailor and I purchased my 2004 Nissan Titan just so I could pull it. It has no problem pulling, the problem is stopping. Everytime I pull this trailor the front rotors warp and the truck shakes really badly. I have had it worked on several times and Nissan is aware of the problem. They even told me that all of the Titans and the Armadas have this problem. They have not fixed it to date. I will never buy another Nissan product again because they know the problem and won't fix it. The regional sales director for Nissan in North Carolina last response to me was "Safe driving," which was very irritating.
Worth the Wait
I had it Factory ordered. Took 4 months but it was worth the wait! Horsepower, all I have to say is WOW! Ofroad package sport utility package and tow package is a must! Absolutely love it!
It's a Blast
I don't really like American brand. I also have the Toyota (Seqouia)which I also like it but when I went to see the Tundra, it was too simple to me compared to the Titan. (Features wised) and eventhough the Titan has a much bigger engined, fuel consuption, both will about the same. Even my wife that really againts on having a truck like this one also.
Early Review
King SE 4x4 no bells and whistles. Only 1000 miles - so far everything I'd hoped. $ was comparable to even the heavily-incentived Dodge Ram. HUGE upgrade from from my mid-90's GM. Comfortable, powerful - truly 305 horses lurking under the hood! Home is an "American truck" town, so I get a lot of "you bought a Japanese truck!?" Then they look closer, and I get "so what did this cost?", and even one, "do you still have the brochures?" Brand new, but after ten years of transmission problems, a great feeling to climb in and not worry about ANYTHING. FEELS well-built and solid. Getting 13-14mpg so far around town - only slightly worse than my old 5.0L got.
my kickass titan
This is the best truck ever built flat out.
Tight Titan
This truck is well built, fun to drive and handles like a sports car. The engine is powerful and smooth. I love the 5 speed automatic tranny w/overdrive. Nissan hit a home run with this truck and I can only see it getting better as they continue develop this product. This is truly the beginning of the Asian invasion and I love it!
Great truck for the price.
Looks good but performs better. It drives and rides better than my wife's car. It has an excellent turning radius and has a great deal of room in the interior. The only drawback is the gas mileage but I expected that when I bought it.
I Love This Truck!
In March 2003,I bought a Frontier; In November 2003 I went to a car show and encountered the Titan.Fell in love and the rest is history.March 1,2004 I bought my SE king cab. This truck is the best looking thing on the highway, not to mention the best preformance in a vehicle that I have ever encountered. It drives and rides better than most car I have driven. My only regret is that I had to wait until March until they were offered in my area!
Nice Truck
Just bought this truck. Looked at all of them before buying this one. Even looked at Yukons, Pilots, and Escapes. Plenty of room for everyone in the cab. Very responsive. I'm sure it will burn the gas but I didn't buy it for the gas mileage.
