Transmission is bad
Do not buy this Pathfinder. Just as I got past 60,000 mile warranty the transmission went bad. Car is less than two years old. All warranty work done on time as recommended by a Nissan dealer. Looking on line it appears to be a widespread problem. 2/20/2019. Since replacement of bad transmission I have not really had any real problems. There are many things I like but lost confidence with Nissan on quality of their transmissions and handling of the problem.

I will never, ever buy another Nissan!!!
I purchased my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL, 4WD, in June 2014 for my wife who drives it on a daily basis. On November 25, 2015, "I borrowed" the Pathfinder from my wife and while driving it, I noticed the vehicle started shuddering. At first I thought I went over a few potholes or a rough patch in the road. It was definitely noticeable, but I didn't know what it was, or think anything of it. Then it happened again on a perfectly good road and I wasn't going fast. That's when I started paying attention. Well, it happened again. I was driving under 20-MPH at about 1000 RPM...That seemed to be the sweet/sour spot. I was able to replicate the problem a few times on the November 25th. There is no telling how long the vehicle has been doing this, because my wife could drive over a cow and not notice the violent bump. At 27,000 miles, my brand new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder was having transmission problems. WHAT!!! REALLY!!! I drive a 2005 Lexus IS 300 with 128,000 miles and it purrs like a kitten (I love my Toyota). I started researching and looking at different reviews. I pulled the Consumer Report and I even called my friend who bought her 2014 Nissan Pathfinder SV a few months after, me only to find out she already replaced her transmission at 19,000 miles, but started having problems around 3,500 miles. It took her that long to get a replacement, because the dealership kept giving her the run around. They told her "there is nothing they can do about it." To make matters worse, she is now trying to get her transmission replaced again at 22,900 miles, from the same Nissan Service Center. You've got to be kidding me!!! Well, my Pathfinder is currently at Suntrup Nissan, St. Louis, MO and we will see what they say. Note to everyone reading this, keep a record of everything from start to finish and get everything in writing. If they call you, send an email memorializing the conversation. Update to follow.

Expensive car with major issues
The local service dept and Nisan consumer affairs told me the juddering is "normal" and that the car does that when the driver has a "light foot" (for better fuel economy they say - which makes no sense). So basically they are telling me that to make the juddeing stop I need to mash on the gas when I accelerate from a complete stop like I want to race the guy next to me. That sounds legit. What about the thumping it makes when at a stop sign / light? Oh yea that's normal too. --- UPDATE: nothing has changed or been resolved. Nissan consumer affairs told me I need to take it back in to have it reevaluated since its been over 3 months since it had been to the service department. Mind you, that was 1 week after I picked it up from the service department. Looks like I'm stuck with a lemon.

2014 Pathfinder SUCKS!!!!
Bought a 2014 Model from Micheal Jordan Nissan in Durham, NC in Oct. 2013! Was told by sales person that the transmission "sudder" issue was fixed on the 2014's. At 1500 miles the sudder issue started happening at around 20 MPH. Took it back they said needed a new transmission. Work with Nissan corp. for 2 weeks and they would not give me a new vehicle or my money back!! Would anyne in their right mind want a brand new SUV with 1500 miles on it with the transmission already replace? DON'T THINK SO!! I'm stuck with this piece of crap because can't trade it and will lose $6000.00 on it and differently can't sell it. Nissan stinks and NEVER AGAIN will I buy another one!!! Honda or Toyota!!
Avoid a 45K error.
I bought a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Plat with Premium options and the vehicle had 9 miles on it. I drove the vehicle 50 miles to my home and the next morning there was an i-Key system error or similar. A little later the check engine light came on. OBD code was P0850. I was told there was a fob programming but it turned out to be a shifter assembly part needed to be replaced. Needless to say, I had to bring the vehicle back to get it fixed. A couple of days later my wife was sitting in the passenger seat and I noticed the passenger airbag was off. Back to the dealer and I am told the seat was not calibrated. They fixed it, yesterday the issue with the airbag is back.
CVT Transmission is JUNK 2 in less than 1 1/2 year
Bought my 2015 PF in Nov 2014, Have various problems including needed new driver seat leather was bad. But the real trouble started at 15k about 9 months into my ownership of this brand new vehicle, started shuddering real bad needed new cvt. Than fast forward a few months and 5k and the cvt is doing the same thing shuddering so I am needing a new cvt again. I wouldn't recommend this vehicle to anyone Nissan has to fix this issue as I am sure that lots and lots of people are having these issue's.

Second time around not better...
I had a new 2013 pathfinder, that had so many issues i was in and out of the shop every 6 weeks... so they traded me for a new 2014. So far, the air bag sensor has been faulty, the control panel has been replaced (couldn't read the gas correctly, said i was out when in fact i had 1/3 tank), the transmission control module has been replaced, and it still rattles and shakes. I'm not impressed, I won't buy another one. I see myself back in the shop soon if the rattling continues. At first they blamed an alignment issue. Paid for that to be fixed, and it's still rattling. Not all the time, just periodically. Atleast it does not have the no-go problem my 2013 had.
Frustrated with our new Pathfinder Platinum
We were so excited to finally purchase our new Pathfinder. Three days later it started sputtering. We took it in to the dealer and they said it was the tourque converter, it took 2 weeks to get the part in. When we got it back it was still doing the same thing. We took it back in and they said it was the transmission. They replaced the transmission with a "re-manufactured" part. The dealership has been fantastic, but trying to get through to the executive Nissan office has been a nightmare. We are really afraid of what is to come.
Don't Buy A Pathfinder
Here we go again!! In October of 2013 I purchased a brand new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder from Michael Jordan Nissan in Durham, NC. At 2000 miles the transmission did the shutter thing and the transmission was replaced by Michael Jordan service department. Case #15450446 was opened up by Nissan Corporation (useless individuals). I wanted my $32,000 back or a brand new Pathfinder. Corporation would not budge one bit other than upping my warranty on the transmission to 100,000 miles. Still was extremely mad because who wants a brand new car with transmission taken out already at 2000 miles. No way I could sell it! Well guess what, at 18000 miles that transmission went out and this time my wife barely made it to Michael Jordan Nissan without it breaking (making all kinds of noise) down on her. Still corporation would not budge one bit! Service department replaced transmission again and wife was always scared to drive it far on a trip because she was afraid it would break down on her. Well guess what, at 46000 miles that transmission is in Michael Jordan service department right now getting replaced. I’ll be on my 4th transmission at only 46000 miles on car. Case# 20757949 is now opened up and I’m waiting on a response back from them. They better give me my money back or a brand new 2016 Pathfinder. If not, then it might be time to start seeking for a lawyer.

2 transmission since January 2014
I will make it short. what's the point of buying a new car if i have to keep going back to service almost every other week? Nissan decided to change the transmission 2 weeks after i purchased the car cause of shaking problem. then again in April 2014 cause of the same problem. and now i feel i wasted over 30,000 on piece of junk. while driving on highway car is shaking vigorously. there are already 4 recalls on the car. I will never buy a nissan again.
2014 pathfinder
Transmission is a piece I have 25,000 miles the dealer told me the have to jump tho hoops with Nissan to get it replaced and I am still under warranty Don't buy Nissan

I waited before deciding to review .... updated
Had heard about the shuddering challenges, decided to purchase anyway - alas, at low miles it started to shudder, talked to my dealer and was told it was nothing ..... On a road trip to Canada it got to the point I was ready to return the vehicle once we got home. Called Nissan directly who directed me to the nearest dealer, who identified, addressed and fixed the problem within hours! Only have good things to say about them. Can't say enough good things about my Pathfinder. 2 years into owning it, I've had zero challenges with anything. Value for money ... A great buy. 2017 update ... inside and out the pathfinder is amazing. The inside is wearing great, leather, panels, buttons, carpet not showing signs of aging. LOVE this car, it offers everything plus more! I researched the rest, then purchased the best! Ride, comfort, features OUTSTANDING. 2018 update ... I have nothing but praise for this car. Unfortunately, due to the fact we currently live in a Canada and gas prices keep going up and up, Ive started looking for a new car. ( currently spending $1000 CND per month in gas) I’d have no challenge trading this Pathfinder in for a hybrid version, unfortunately that’s not available yet! Test drove a Toyota hybrid SUV yesterday, thought I’d be blown away ... I wasn’t! Sadly, I will buy a car, save money on gas and wait for a vehicle to become available that can address a SUV family challenge.

Not worth the trouble
This is the first time I have ever written a review on any product I have bought, but felt strongly enough to hopefully sway others to be careful in their purchase. I bought my pathfinder in February with 21,000 miles. I specifically asked the salesman about prior transmission issues with pathfinders and was told it was completely resolved. At 31,000 miles it's at the dealership with catastrophic failure of the transmission. I'll get it back on Monday and trade for a new vehicle. There will never be a Nissan parked in my driveway again. I have no confidence in their ability to build a reliable vehicle. The ride was good. The interior fit our family needs. It is a mechanical nightmare.
Don't buy a NISSAN PATHFINDER!!!
I purchased a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum in 2013 and from day 2 I had a severe transmission shuddering and I had to go to the dealership many many many times before they could record the issue on their mobile computer. They changed the transmission but I am having the same exact issue with the second transmission... Unbelievable! I will never buy a Nissan again and I told all the people I know about it. Shame on you Nissan!!!! update: 03/10/16 I am still having the same issue even aftre they replaced what they called the "Body valve" 2 weeks ago.....

2014 sl pathfinder
This is the worst car I have ever owned. It has the shudder problem at 28 mph. Third time taking it in tomorrow. They say they cannot duplicate the problem so there is nothing wrong with it!! So frustrated with this car. Do not recommend anyone to buy this car.
The Worst Vehicle I Have Owned
I bought a 2014 Pathfinder SL in Nov. 2013. I have owned a dozen Nissans, all high quality and reliable. How Nissan could turn out a vehicle with so many complaints about the CVT Transmission is very disappointing. I feel betrayed and will NEVER buy Nissan again. They remind me of Detroit quality control in the 1980's. I will sell it asap. I have had it in the shop 5 times in 3 months for acceleration problems, shakiness, poor power range. I could go on, but why. I have read the complaints of others and know I am not alone. So if anyone reads this with Nissan, I hope you are satisfied at how much of your customer base is revolting against the product that endangers our families.
Don't Make a $36k Mistake!
I bought this car in anticipation of a cross country road trip for my family last night - Atlanta to Los Angeles - in order to travel to see my father after he required emergency brain surgery. Platinum series, fully loaded, only 25k miles, but $35,000 worth of heartache. Roughly 120 miles into our trip, the car began shuttering at low speeds. When we stopped to refuel 400 miles into our trip, the transmission wouldn't engage when my husband put the car in "Drive." After repeated attempts he finally got the transmission to engage and we were able to "limp it" to the nearest Auto Nation dealer and sit and wait 4 hours for them to open. However, because it is Sunday, the service department is closed. The Atlanta location offered to reimburse me for either a modest (not comparable) rental or a hotel while we wait for an indefinite period of time for our vehicle to be looked at and a determination to be made from there - a kind gesture but hardly the consideration I'd expect given the circumstances and the capabilities of a multimillion dollar netting corporation. After an unexpected 9 hour delay in Memphis (with an 11, 6, 5 year old and 2 month old) we are now back on the road in a rental vehicle that I had to incur the upfront out of pocket cost for (with no idea of when/if a reimbursement will actually occur in addition to the $4k I have the dealership for a down payment). I will also have to modify my trip to be by my father's side in order to coordinate the issue of driving back to Memphis to retrieve my vehicle (which I no longer want) and return the rental vehicle during the company's business hours. All of this is a nightmare in addition to the nightmare that I am already dealing with. As a consumer (and previous Nissan owner) I just expected better. Polite but unhelpful (especially when Nissan is already clearly aware of the issue after reading endless consumer reviews which highlight a week established history of an issue requiring a recall or buyer warning) is not only immoral, but also shameful. My excitement of purchasing my Roadster this summer after so many years of pining for it has now gone out the window. I'll never buy another Nissan and I will caution anyone who will listen to me to avoid doing the same for as long as I have breath and the faculties to communicate. I'm both devastated and disheartened and at less than 24 hours into my purchase, the issue is likely only beginning...

Worst car I have ever owned
I bought my 2014 Pathfinder in August of 2018. I put a new after market mass air flow sensor put on 2/19. It ran fine for about a week and a half before the check engine light came back on. It began to shake going down the road again so I called the dealership. They told me I needed to bring it in to be reprogrammed. So, I carried it to them where they did the auto air relearn. After 2-3 days it had same issues plus it would just die in the middle of an intersection or when slowing down for traffic. Carried it back again, same thing. They kept trying to tell me it was all bc I used an after market to part. On the 3rd trip to dealer I told them to just put on their genuine Nissan part. Their part last 2 whole days before it messed up again. On the fifth trip to dealer, they replace the MAf sensor yet again and tell me they noticed it had an after market engine air filter also. So they replaced it too. Well guess what, 2 days later and it still goes dead on me. I am now on my 6th trip to dealer for repairs. They can’t seem to figure out what is wrong and they’ve had it for 5 days this time. They’re trying to tell me they think may need throttle body replaced. Now keep in mind, this is the same dealer who also told me they can only fix what it tells them when the check engine light is on. Every time, it has only shown that it was the MAF sensor. If I ever get it back, it will be traded at the very first opportunity!! DO NOT BUY NISSAN!!

2014 Pathfinder SL Transmission problems
I've read many reviews and problems with the 2013-2014 Pathfinder. Sad to say, I now must join the crowd. Bought a 2014 Pathfinder SL new, started judder/shutter @ 10,000 miles. Took to dealer for a "reprogram." Shudder/judder again at 20,000 miles. Took to dealer for a "new/rebuild" CVT transmission (under warranty). 60,000 miles later, sudder/judder has returned. Dealer is saying we need yet another transmission, and it's OUT of warranty. Why would I want to sink $3,500-$4,000 into ANOTHER nissan pathfinder transmission? Almost 90K miles, taken to dealer 3x for transmission problems. Sadly, this has ruined me from buying another CVT Nissan. The dealership was great, and we loved the SUV, size, and design but can't handle the transmission problems again.

Shuddering transmission
As others vehicle shudders at low speed but not consistenly and never in the shop and nor did our dearship know or ever heard of this problem. On recent vacation when our car was lowed to the nearest dealership, that's an enitely different story, we mentioned it to the service manager who know exactly what I was talking as soon as I said transmission problems. They have replace two transmissions already with the exact same issue. Conclusion is we mentioned it yet a third time to our local dealership who finally tried some thing revolutionary and looked up the problem on the internet! Finally agreed to address the issue. New transmission being installed as we speak.
Overall - poor designed car
1. The Noise coming from the CVT engine is awful. Something that was never heard in any other car. Nissan Canada claim this is normal for this car. 2. connection between the fuel consumption that Nissan advertised and reality is absolutely non-exist. Expect around 30% more. 3. Quality of interior materials super low. Just move your hand in the inner part of the steering wheel.. Hope you will not cut yourself from that poorly manufactured plastic parts.
Buyer Beware- Failure to Disclose Safety Issues
I continue to receive requests to "update my review," but I stand by what I posted originally. Working with Nissan was the worst experience ever. Their refusal to address my valid concerns will not be forgotten (September 23, 2023). Their deceitfulness in not disclosing known transmission issues and transponder key "dead zones" could have resulted in the loss of life of my children. As I attempted to resolve this matter, by just wanting to exchange the vehicle, it was ignored. I even attempted to reach individuals at the corporate level and my messages were blocked. Even one of the Nissan Dealers admitted that Nissan knew about transmission issues yet, rushed to get the product to market. Please stop harassing me by asking me to "update my review." My opinion of Nissan/Infinity is forever damaged. To this day, no one from the company ever reached out to me. Even though I have received multiple requests to "update my review," I stand by what I posted originally. Working with Nissan was the worst experience ever. Their refusal to address my valid concerns will not be forgotten (March 23, 2023). My Original review that they keep asking me to change...."Had multiple issues with my 2014 Pathfinder SL. Needed a new radiator, new transmission, new software, and new fuel sensors. First, no 4 yr. old vehicle with only 42K miles should not need a new transmission. The keyless entry doesn't work consistently locking keys in the vehicle. Nissan is aware that their vehicle has specific areas known as "dead zones" where the key does not work, yet fails to disclose this to consumers. This is very dangerous as a mom could easily shut a door to retrieve something from the trunk and end up with her children locked in the vehicle. A simple safety bulletin warning consumers of "known" dead zones where the key transponder does not consistently work (cup holder/trunk, per Nissan Corporate Office) would be much appreciated and is the right information to share with consumers for their safety. Failing to disclose known issues with a vehicle is total negligence on Nissan's part and should be changed. Hopefully, Nissan will do the right thing and update their owner's manuals to reflect these dangerous "dead zones," or issue a consumer safety bulletin.

I like it.....but
(Update)The car still runs well and I still get good MPG'S in city/highway driving 22-24, but I feel like the materials in the car has been a let down. Found out that the lights on the ceiling above the doors that help light up the 2nd row don't work. I keep having a piece of rubber sealant come off the top of my car. You can easily tell that it was never done correctly. The handling feels really sluggish. I believe that on the newer versions of the Pathfinder they have tried to work on handling, but the 2014 makes you feel like you're driving a school bus. The acceleration is great, the connectivity for Bluetooth is great. I still like the room that it has. Especially with having a child seat and being able to slide the whole 2nd row back so the child isn't kicking the back of the driver/passenger seats. If I were to get a new vehicle, it would not be another pathfinder. There really isn't much to complain about the car. I have had a few recalls, but they were nothing serious, and I dropped my car off, they fixed what the recall was for, and I got my car back. Simple. The Bluetooth on my phone connects instantly. When you're on Bluetooth and you're still on the phone, but you have to turn the car off. As soon as you turn the car off, the Bluetooth switches back to your phone. Awesome! It looks stylish and sporty, and has really good acceleration. The wheel seems a bit sluggish at times, but it's also a CVT, but you'll get used to it. I have taken many road trips and have had people in every section of my car. It's easy even when you have car seats and to get kids in and out. It goes the same with adults trying to get in and out. I have had an adult sit in the third row by themselves and they complimented on how much room they still had. And by no means was this adult small :-) The quality of the materials are good. It's obviously no Infiniti, Lexus etc, but it had a smooth interior and the controls are very easy to manage and a lot of helpful options to search for (big reason why I chose this over the Explorer). I get really good gas mileage in long trips and short trips. I could drive from Houston to Oklahoma City on one tank of gas. Seriously! The only problem that I have is, that my backup camera keeps messing up. The screen changes colors randomly, and gets fuzzy, but I can still see out of it. I had to take it in and get it fixed (free of course by the dealership) and they did that, but after about a week I am having the same problem. Last time they just replaced the whole console. I don't care what they replaced, I just need the camera to stop messing up. Either way, I bought it in 2014 with about 4500 miles and now it has about 32,000 and it's still going strong. Update - No backup camera issues anymore. It has 101,000 miles on it. Still runs well, but the materials inside the cabin are dwindling down. I still wouldn’t purchase another pathfinder. I still like my vehicle and enjoy it, but I will move on to something different after this.

Nissan does not back up their product.
There was a recall on the transmission in my 2014 pathfinder back in December 2016 so Nissan replaced the transmission. Since then I've put around 45000 miles on the new transmission if it was NEW! Then I started hearing a knocking noise in December of 2018 so my wife took it to the dealership and they said that we needed a new transmission again which will cost me $3700. I asked why would I have to pay for transmission that only has 45000 miles on it? The dealership said that's up to corporate! I called corporate and asked them the same question and they said that they only go by the miles that are on the odometer not the miles on the transmission. I asked to speak to the manager and he said he was the manager and would not transfer me to anyone else this went on for over 3 weeks. I spent over $55000 in 3 months back in 2014 to only have Nissan Vehicles in my driveway and this is how they treat a loyal customer. I understand that my Loyalty Nissan does not mean anything so I've moved on to Honda good riddance.

Short wife-Big car
This is a great car for the average size person (64 inches or above). A little large for a 5 ft. person with back problems. Overall it's a great vehicle. We drove it on a 10,000-seven week trip around the country. Got 23 mpg overall and no mechanical problems. It's a SL 4WD and has most of the bells and whistles you would need. PROS: heated front and rear seats, super A/C, plenty of room and storage space (3rd row seats fold down). CONS: slow on initial acceleration but drives smooth once you reach operating speed, no blind spot monitoring. Overall: Very satisfied with the car for the 5 years we have owned it, just need a taller wife (just kidding). Note: the 4WD in this vehicle made it up and down a snow/ice covered incline when my truck would not.

bad transmission
My 2014 pathfinder needed a new transmission 6 weeks after i purchased it. 9 months later during routine servici g they found that bolts in the brake system were missing they say from the factory. Wouldnt let me drive it because it was so dangerous. Cant wait for my lease to end! I bought a nissan for peace of mind..little did i know!

Disappointment - Transmission Failure
Purchased this vehicle new in May 2014. In October 2014 with less than 5,000 miles the transmission began slipping at speeds above 60mph. Took it to dealer who said may be bad gas and to fill up once with 89 octane. In November 2014, the transmission slipped constantly (No warning lights came on). Took it to dealer, they confirmed it was a bad transmission. They said they were putting a new transmission in however it is still in the shop so I am unable to validate if it is new or a remanufactured transmission that is going in it. A vehicle with less than 6k miles and cost $45K a total disappointment. Stay away from the Pathfinder.
Very Happy
I bought this car certified used and have driven it for 14k miles. This car fits our needs having two young children. We live in a large cityand only need one car, so the third row comes in handy. The Pathfinder has by far the most functional third row. You can easily access it with the car seats in, and it fits adults pretty comfortably. I'm also impressed with the performance and mpg. It's a definite step up from my 2010 Honda Pilot and 2006 Grand Cherokee. I'm also impressed with the luxury and convenience features on the sl. There is little difference between it and its cousin the Infiniti QX60. Given the issues that some people are having with the CVT transmission, I did have some concern about buying the Pathfinder but was reassured by the 100k mile warranty. I have had absolutely no issues with the car. In fact, I really like the smooth, constant power of the CVT. And you can't beat the discounts offered on the Pathfinder compared to its competitors. All in all, it meets the needs of our family and I'm very happy with this car.

Numerous Repairs for a Brand New Vehicle!
One month after I bought this brand new, the car would not start in my driveway and had to be towed to the dealer. We were going on a road trip and had to cancel. Had to bring in the vehicle several times to the dealer for recall issues. Today, I took it to the dealer for 20,000 miles service before leaving for another road trip. Vehicle was found to have a major transmission problem and had to be in the dealership for more than a week. Dealer gave us a small rental car, which makes me feel queasy for a long road trip. I wish I had bought a Toyota or Honda instead. Once I get back the vehicle I will trade it in for a Toyota but I will be out by several thousands of dollars. I will never buy a Nissan again!

End of Year Bargain
My original 2014 PathFinder SV was upgraded at the end of last year to a 2017 PathFinder SV (with heated seats, heated steering wheel, and remote start). Leather seats were added as an after market option. After 30,000 miles, I like the drive train even better on the 2017, and it now tows up to 6000 pounds. The newer engine model plus transmission is smoother than the 2014 which makes for a great driving vehicle. From an overall perspective I really like the vehicle. Drives great, handles great, tows great, versatile and gets good mileage. The only flaw I have run into on the car is the entertainment system. It randomly malfunctions. This includes reboots while driving, not loading radio station presets, refusal to sync blue tooth, and my favorite... leaving the rear view camera active while driving "forward" down the road (a safety hazard). Even though these flaws have been demonstrated for the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, they have refused to repair/replace the entertainment system. They instead want to blame it on my smart phone. Not sure how my smart phone is causing reboots, or the backup camera to stay on when driving, but that is their response. I only list this as a large part of car ownership is the quality of the service. While I happily upgraded to this second 2017 Pathfinder, I am not sure I would purchase a third due to this strange issue and refusal on the part of the dealership to correct it. Also, if the smart phone really is causing this strange issue then that would be speak to very poor system stability and security within the Pathfinder. A properly synced smart phone should not crash the systems within a vehicle. I downgraded a number of my ratings based on these issues. ... We purchased our 2014 PathFinder SV on a very snowy presidents day. In the last few months we have logged almost 5,000 enjoyable, uneventful miles. This includes a road trip and numerous trips to sporting events hauling 4 kids, 2 adults, and 3 sets of hockey equipment. The ride is great, handling good, and acceleration smooth. So smooth that it is accelerating faster than you at first realize. Mileage has been very good, usually 22-23 in mixed driving (overdrive enabled, towing mode disabled for normal driving). I am looking forward to seeing how well it handles our boat. No shudders, or hick-ups, at all... Just enjoying the ride. ... 50,000+ miles in..,, Still love the 2014... Bluetooth could be better, and hands free is clunky, but knowing that this has been updated in the newer model, would purchase the car again. In fact we plan to buy the slightly upgraded version when this one wears out... Probably at 150,000+ miles.

Good Crossover
We bought this pathfinder AWD back in May 2014 we have put over 6,500mi on it and have had no problems. After owning an Expedition for several years initially I was hesitant to move to this crossover especially because the bad press for CVTs. The overall experience has been positive still able to tow my 18' boat at the same time save gas for daily use. Although the switch from traditional automatic to CTV is not 100% transparent (you need to adapt between keep pressing down the gas vs. hold or overdrive vs. automatically braking with engine for downhill's) at the end of the day it deliver a good experience.
Almost perfect
Updated review- Bought 2014 SL 4x4 in Aug. 2013. 3k - 5k miles we experienced the shudder, took it into the dealer, they fixed it. 22k miles the CVT started acting up again, took it in and they replaced the transmission! At 32k miles it did it again, again they adjusted it, at 37k it hasn't done it again, so far. We have been very lucky/happy with our dealer and the service they have provided us with on this issue. Pro's - Smooth ride, great features, love the leg room, good gas mileage, fun to drive, reasonably priced, Got into head on collision, very impressed with the safety features of this car. Car was totaled. Really love this car but will not buy again until CVT is fixed.
Drive train troubles
Vehicle worked flawlessly till 7500 miles. At that time there was loud knock and vibration from trans area. Since then there is intermittent vibrations and shudders. Dealer 1st stated they can find nothing, then, this is normal. If normal, I think it should happen all the time. Dealer then stated it sounds like torque converter, but won't fix. Told factory rep would contact, but never did. Am afraid vehicle will let me sit. Would consider trading, but was told value is zip due to vehicle transmission reputation. Would love Nissan to step up to the plate ands repair / replace. Anyone listening? Wow, what a piece of crap, and Nissan service at manufacturer level is no better. After 3 months of run a round, the dealer told me to please find another dealer. There is nothing wrong with the vehicle and they are tired of looking at me. So, took vehicle to dealer 50 miles away. They immediately recognized the problem, but, listen to this, were not able to make immediate repairs. They had to call Nissan for authorization. First Nissan told dealer to change tires and wheels with another vehicle, hoping that issue was tires/wheels. Well, that didn't work, so Nissan told dealer to replace torque converter. Done, now the problem was worse, Finally, dealer told to replace transmission. Finally, problem solved. Problem was, I was traveling and need substitute transportation. Nissan did pay part of rental. Due to substandard treatment by Nissan, I traded to vehicle for new Toyota Highlander limited in 1/15. That vehicle now has 25,000 miles and performs flawlessly. Lets review, bought Nissan in 7/14 with sticker of 44,500, Paid 38,500. Problems started in 10/14 and finally resolved in 1/15 by final repair and trading for Toyota. Nissan value is terrible. Nissan dealer offered 20,500 (less than 50% of original sticker) to trade vehicle for new / improved Pathfinder. Sorry, burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me. I work too hard for my money to waste it on "pretty" junk.

The kids named it Thor..and I'm okay with that
We just picked up a 2014 Pathfinder on year-end closeout; paid <$35K for the Platinum (no premium) Other car is a 2008 Infiniti M35, and I can safely say that this Pathfinder is our M35 with a 3rd row! We looked at the Flex Limited and CX-9 Grand Touring, and the Nissan just flat-out wins. Yes, we did look at the JX35/QX60, but I cannot see the difference to justify a 12K gap in pricing (wake up Infiniti, and put the 3.7 in there...) Kudos too to the Nissan buying experience; Ford is still stuck in Anchorman-era. Mazda offers compelling choices, and I will probably kick myself when the diesel CX-9 comes out next year, but here's to X-MAS bonuses
Worse SUV Ever I hate it
This SUV, shudders, stubble's, jitters, SHUDDERS, zigzag, feels like an old school Cadillac or dump truck, to turn a corner it literally feels like it's going to tip over, I HATE IT

Worst car I've ever owned! Buyer be ware
I purchased a used 2014 Nissan Pathfinder in 2016. It ran really well for a few years, until it didn't. It began to "sputter" and then I lost all electrical power....ON THE FREEWAY!!! FortunatelyI was able to coast to the side of the road. Had it towed to the dealership, and the guy from AAA told me he sees at least two or three a week that do the same thing. Spent $4,000 to have the electrical issue fixed, and that seemed to do the trick, for a bit. Then, a few weeks later the the car died again, in line at a McDonald's (don't judge). The dealership told me it was a transmission issue. This set me back another $6,000. From that point forward I had to have the gear in Drive at a certain position, otherwise the gears wouldn't "catch" and the engine would rev but not move the car forward. I was told that somehow this was my fault. Then, it broke down a third time. Had it towed to the dealership...again. Fortunately it was under repair warranty. Finally was ae to purchase a new Toyota Venza 2021. Not only will I never buy another Nissan (of any kind), I will only stick with what I know, which is Honda and Toyota. Post Script: The gas mileage is nothingless than awful in that particular model of Nissan. $77 every four days to fill up, was killing me.

Great, until it wasn't
Like too many countless others, this WAS a great vehicle. No longer the case. The faulty transmission needs replacing and Nissan is nowhere to be found. So owner on the hook for $7500 replacement or drive it until it stops moving. When they don't have CVT's in their vehicles any longer, it tells you why. Up until this point though: great on gas (unbelievable actually), great storage, great to drive, etc. So 4 or 5 stars until it's faulty system finally reared its head.

2014 Pathfinder is the Worst Car I ever bought
I have owned 4 Nissans including a 2005 Pathfinder and this one is just rusting, falling apart and just not reliable. Most of the issues popped up right after my 36k Warranty expired (I have 54k on the car now). I just had to have the front exhaust replaced at 54k, Front Right Wheel Bearing 54k, Front Left Wheel bearing 39k. All covered by Warranty but really should not happen at that low mileage. I have had to do over $5,000 in repairs (not maintenance). This included my AC Compressor and pressure switch, Hood latch (twice) that I open about 10 times per year, Bolts on Rear Calipers froze and broke (at dealer). This was after they said I needed rear pads that only had 15k on them. All Bolts that are exposed are rusting. The car can no longer be aligned as those bolts are frozen. Interior random things are breaking including the rear hatch. My tailgate lifter broke off today (bolt rusted). I have a 2,500 pound boat and this car struggles with the tongue weight and is just not as sturdy as my previous generation Pathfider.

Very Disappointed! !
We fell in love with this vehicle! Bought it in May of 2015. Ours is a 2014 Pathfinder Platinum. Have only had it 3 months with a little over 7,000 miles and the transmission needs replaced. I have had 2 Altmas before this one with no problems so needless to say I am very disappointed. Been reading all the comments with the same problem and you would think that Nissan would have gotten this issue taken care of but it's been going on for over 10 years!! We have to drive from the coast of North Carolina to Fort Worth, Tx in late September and I pray nothing goes wrong before we get there. Pretty sure we will be looking at trading it in on a different vehicle. Really liked everything about it!

CVT problems
Purchased in April 2014 (same month vehicle was assembled). I was aware of the CVT issues before purchasing but hoped that Nissan had fixed the problem with newer builds. No such luck. Last weekend the problems began. Shudders, power loss, surging etc.. Pathfinder no longer safe to drive. Nissan replacing transmission under warranty. 19,000km on the odometer. No other complaints with this vehicle.
Solid
We were looking for an SUV after the birth of our second child, and the Pathfinder SV came out on top for us. The Highlander has a gorgeous interior and a little more room inside, but is very closed in and tank-like. The Ford Edge is great to look at, but the interior can't match Toyota and Nissan quality. Mazda CX-9 was awesome to drive, but has VERY hard suspension as a result. Acura RDX was ridiculously small inside with no leg room in front or back. Overall, the Pathfinder does everything really well and doesn't have any shortcomings so far.

2014 pathfinder transmission
We have the shudder problem at 20+- miles per hour and on our forth attempt at a repair the car has been in the shop now for seven days and they are still waiting on parts ????? . I will post again when I get the car back .
Setting the Record Straight
Typically I only read reviews when I'm getting ready to buy something, but I decided to see what others thought of their Pathfinder. I was very disappointed to see how many negative reviews there are as my experience with the 2014 Pathfinder has been very different from most of the reviews. My Pathfinder was purchased brand new and in the ~18 months I've had it, there have been very few issues. A couple months after owning it the fuel started cutting out at slow speeds and going up hills - took it to the dealership and they fixed the issue as it was an upcoming recall. Since, I have not had any other issues like that. The only other issue I experience was condensation build up on the inside of the front window. The dealership said there was no way to fix it and it doesn't happen consistently enough to understand what is causing the issue. Maybe the difference in my experience and others is care of the vehicle? I never miss oil changes or regular services and don't abuse it while driving. There are minor things that I would change about the Pathfinder, but it's due more to my preference than it is a function failure. I don't like that there is a gap between the second and third row seats when laid flat; it's dangerous for my dogs so we put a run over it to avoid their paws falling in and hurting themselves. I wish I could get factory installed heated front seats with cloth interior. The cloth interior seems to be wearing quicker than I expected a new vehicle to, it's easy to tell where the most used seats are in the car! Speaking of cloth fabric, it would be great if there was a cloth in vehicles that did not absorb dog hair as much...even when I take a lint roller and vacuum to the seats it's still hard to get all the dog hair out. Again, these are all minor preferences. As for performance and functionality, I have been extremely pleased with my Nissan Pathfinder.

No problems so far - seems like a very nice vehicle
We purchased a 2014 SL new in November 2014. We've driven it lightly so far, only 2000 miles, and had absolutely NO issues with it. It is quiet, smooth, and I don't have any of the CVT issues reported. I do notice the transmission shifting differently than my old car (an older Highlander), but it's not an issue or a problem, just the nature of CVT. But honestly, if there had been as many reviews mentioning CVT problems in November as there are today -- I would NOT have purchased this vehicle. But so far, it's a fine vehicle with no issues. We also have a 2015 RAV-4, and the Nissan touchscreen isn't as intuitive as the Toyota one for setting up bluetooth, etc.
Look out for nissan
People need to know that I bought this brand knew ,and from day one is smelled of antifreeze and was loosing it also ,in the 11 months I had it ,It was in the shop more than home ,and the dealership couldn't fix it ,so me and dealer called Nissan and made more than one claim of this problem . Nissan said that it was normal for some of the pathfnders to smell and use coolant ,But when it was in the shop ,I was given several different Nissan to drive and they all had same motor and no smell ,Nissan is junk please beware , they don't stand behind there stuff!!!! really not impressed!
over all its exactly what we wanted in its class but have had nothing but problems. long story we had a 2013 pathfinder s class for 2 weeks and a Nissan tech smashed it into another customers car. they gave us a 2014 in place. We got it in Aug 2013, we reported a burning coolant smell in Nov 2013 with only 10 500 km. even though I can smell it in the car with my wife and 4 kids present, Nissan still says its within normal running operations. I also had both front wheel bearings replaced at 30000 km. now Nissan is refusing to take the coolant issue any further. not impressed what so ever! they say that its a common problem yet we looked online & nobody has had the same problem.
Nissan transmissions are junk! Buyer beware!
I would do no stars if possible! I own a Nissan Pathfinder that the CVT issues that created a large class action lawsuit. The judder issue in the CVT transmission can according to the lawsuit findings create a life threatening situation. I am 13,000 over the warranty but was told they offer goodwill assistance. They refused to offer any assistance but gave a hearty sorry you have to deal with this issue, very generous on their behalf. I called to schedule the transmission replacement which is VERY costly as they can't be rebuilt. The owner of the transmission shop said "we do at least three of those a week becuse Nissan transmissions are junk. Buyer beware!!!

Transmission failure
Transmission failure after driving car 2 years!
Perfect Investment, Multi State/Terrain Trips
I have a 2014 Platinum Pathfinder Limited, which has all of the options. Best investment I've ever made. Perfect for long distance trips with family. Awesome headrest monitors for movies, audio system, etc. My passengers all love it. Powerful engine, quiet cabin, smooth ride, quality leather, panoramic sun-roofs, comfy seats (3 rows), awesome AWD on snow. Navigation is wonderful, especially for traveling to places I've never been. Very aerodynamic and saves gas for such large SUV...approx 22mpg ave (city/hwy). CVT transmission can be quirky when driving up the hill at only 5mph because it tries to adjust between different gears. All you need to do is speed up a bit to get it into one gear. If you have issues, have the CVT/gear/speed software get calibrated appropriately...some dealerships actually don't have mechanics that can do this. Transmission is perfect for high speeds and acceleration...most smooth ride I've ever experienced. Front passenger seat may also need software calibration if the airbag sensor is not detecting a light-weight, small person. If you weigh less than around 100 lbs, then it might not detect you, which you would need the dealership to calibrate the software. Again, some dealerships may not have the proper mechanics to do this. In the small town I lived in, they actually only had the master mechanic from a large city come in on certain days to do these calibrations. If you're having issues, most likely it's the software...nothing wrong with actual hardware/physical parts.
