Bext Maxima Ever
This is my 3rd Nissan Maxima (previous models 1996 GXE, 2000 GLE). I absolutely LOVE this car!!! Nissan really got it right this time. This version is much more comfortable than previous versions. The car handles and rides very well. Also, a lot more luxury items than previous models.
Best Maxima Yet
This is one of the most beautiful cars ever put out by Nissan. The car handles and performs like a dream.

First Nissan Maxima
I don't want to get out of it! I love almost everything about it! Previously owned a Toyota Celica. I think I will stay with Nissan. The Bose system is great. The power is amazing.
First & Last
This is my first Nissan and probably the last. I have had many nuisance problems, like oil drips after each oil change. Latest shock is A/C Evaporator leaking and needs to be replaced ($1,500). At 41K miles this is unbelievable! The only sympathy from dealer is s---happens! Good bye Nissan J.S.
Beware of rotor problems
1. This is an excellent performance car, but I did not take enough time test driving to realize the ride with the low profile tires was going to be too hard. 2. I just spent $400 with the dealership to have the brake rotors turned to eliminate serve brake chatter at high speeds. With 30,000 miles and my prior experience, this is an unacceptable reliability issue. No coverage on the brakes even with the extended warranty. Bummer and the last Nissan I buy!
maxima
Everytime i thought that they cant built it better nissan came back and surprised me. There is some much there to like about this car from the skyview roof, to the interior design that is in a class of its own. I was kinda shaky about the exterior design, but it is growing on me now, and everytime i look at the car it just looks good. Given the choice between a Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and a VW Passat i will buy the maxima in a heart beat, coz after test driving them all, this is the most fun car out of them all.
'04 Maxima ~
I love it!
great car... everyone should test drive
it is an overall great car. it handles like a dream, and it has enought power to out perform almost all of the cars in its class
04 Maxima SL
This vehicle has good looks and great performance. It is such a joy to drive, and I see a lot of heads turn to look. The car has the style and performance I was looking for. It was a good choice.
Mad MAX Props!!!
I'm still so excited! Finally found a BLACK MAX! Owned a white one back in the day, but was originally looking for a black one back then too! But now that I found the one that I want this time...have to say it STILL has me in awe! I've ALWAYS been a loyal fan of the MAX since the old "box" body-style days. Between the wife and I, this will be our fifth NISSAN, so it's safe to say that we're a bit biased toward them. I'm already accessorizing!!! Turns heads and gets a lot of attention from the public. All I have to say is go and test drive one if you've been thinking of buying one--THE CAR REALLY SELLS ITSELF-- it'll make you a believer!
Great styling, surprising power...WOW!
I am very pleased with my 2004 Nissan Maxima. I got the buckets seats in the back option and the GPS. Great power, smooth handling...just a superbly made vehicle. Step up to a MAXIMA!!
Always somthing wrong
Whats next? It started with fuel leaks on the fuel rail. Two in fact. Then wheel bearings. Then brake rotors warping continually. Next came the A/C leaks. Now the A/C compressor is making a noise. The struts are shot and bottoming out and the engine is whining. Clear coat peeling of chrome grill. Whats next? I'm not hanging on to find out! Its out of here!
Luvin' My Max
I love my new Maxima. I purchased it 2 weeks ago after researching and reading consumer reviews. My Maxima is fully loaded w/ Journey & Driver Preferred package, Sirius satillite radio, sunroof and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC); Silver w/ Black interior. It was the only one available in California and I drove from San Diego to Long Beach to get it. I take my time going home and I don't mind getting stuck in traffic. I get so many compliments. I had a 1997 GLE. If Nissan keeps making Maxima better each year I may have to get another Maxima when I turn 40 instead of the Mercedes E320 I promised myself.
Good Design, but issues
Overall a really great design. Been happy with style and performance. But been getting a few rattles/sounds that shouldn't be there. A bump up front is the main issue, when going over road imperfections. The dealer hasn't been able to find yet. If anyone has run into this, please let me know at mistergasketeer@aol.com. It's driving me to distraction.
3rd max
this max replaces 01 se.the car looks and drives great.lots of power and handles solidly.the brakes on ours emit a loud squeak when releasing but we were told by nissan that this is "normal".i also prefer the previous generation climate control as there are way too many buttons on this dash.favorite features are the memory seats and 6 cd player.mileage is 22mpg.this car would be a home run if i can get the brakes quieted down.
Not for introverts...
Traded in '02 Altima which was great car. Fell in love with the rear end design and 265 HP. Feels like 295. This from a Buick Grand National owner.
great family sized 350z
This car performs great. We enjoy driving it and the kids love it. One caution, be watchful of the engine motor mounts. We had issues with one at 1500 miles but after keeping on the dealship, we got it repaired. It has a motorized motor mount and the entire assembly must be repaired..NOT only the mount!! BUT, otherwise...it has been a fantastic car!
Beats BMW & JAG
I wanted a BMW or Jag. But when I ghave them the list of features the Maxima was offering me the price tag went up to $60,000. The Maxima gave me everything I wanted and more.
I love my Maxima
I love my Maxima. I have had no problems with the breaks. The interior is great. The exterior is great. I have recently test driven some smaller cars and found that the Maxima has spoiled me. The Bose sound system is great and the Maxia hold its value. The tires are expensive and never in stock. That is the only complaint I have.
Great car, too bad it burns oil!
I've read some reviews, and see the same problems I have. Minor things such as peeling grilles, easily scratched interior plastic & routine balancing the tires I can live with. My Max started to burn oil at 60K. Now before you all say I abused the car, I'm a grown 50 year old male that drives normally, changes oil every 4K etc. Of course when I brought the car in at 60K for the oil burning I'm told, "sorry out of warranty". Fine, just remember Nissan, a happy customer tells his friends about a great car. A scorned customer tells the world!

the best car out there
maxima
I hate the cost of the low profile tires. The "look" is not so much better, that it is worth the cost! I have owned 3 Maximas; I may not purchase another one for this reason only. $350 a tire is Ridiculous for only 20,000 mile of wear. This is a rip-off for consumers.
Problems and more problems
If you are considering this car, don't buy it. We bought new and paid down in 3yrs. Always told service at dealership about jerky movements when shifting and accelerating. Transmission began having major problems at 56K miles. Took it to Nissan shop and they suggested trans oil change. Did not wanted to hook it to scanner. They said car did not need it. Now at 62K miles it is being repaired ($2K at auto shop) and Nissan won't respond. This car can endanger the driver's and passengers life. Will never buy Nissan again.
To The Max
This is my second Maxima I had a 1989 that went for 289,000 miles with no drive line failures was driven hard right to the end. I traded a 2002 Niss, Altima 3.5 SE for the 2004 and all I can say is this car is incredible cannot stop driving it......Nissan let me do a comerical for you for free .......what a car and what a company........My wife and I drive it all the time it is just a awesome car and kicks butt on alot of so called american muscle cars... The power band just keeps going and begging for more..The only two faults the front grill and the power adapter pain to get to....10 out of 10 best buy
More fun than you think
Fast, slick, with a large slice of luxury. I was looking at quite a few cars, and the Maxima easily won. I had owned sports cars and needed a 4-door. Thought I would be giving up a lot of performance. I was wrong. The elite package has brought a LOT of nice comments. I upgraded to full tint windows, crome wheels, but that's it. Get it loaded you won't be disappointed.
Best car I've ever had!
This car has EVERYTHING I wanted and at a price I was VERY happy with. Got the Driver's Preferred Package w/o VDC or TCS (I don't need/want them). It is fast and fun to drive. I LOVE IT!!
awesome
The new maxima sl with the driver preferred package is a great car. It's very fast and comfortable.
very satisfied
Overall I'm very satisfied with the car. The comfort, the space, the look, the color and interior.
Great looks. Fun to drive.
After years of buying Toyota Camrys, I switched to the Nissan Maxima this year because of its much sharper styling and quality features -- such as the DVD Navigation System -- not available in the Camry. The car is solid, quiet, quick, fun to drive, and looks great.
First Japanese Car
As a former American car owner riddled with serious probs with Fords and Buicks I decided to go import. This appears to be a excellent car. Handling is excellent, Power is scalding, Interior is wonderfully balanced between comfort and tech. This car has been truly engineered by some of the most talented people in the automotive industry. I hope this car will be worthy of a review like this 3-5 years from now.
4 Door Z?
Having bought a luxury car for the Mrs., I wanted something sporty. For me the Maxima SE was the one, since my '90 Max, with well over 200K mi., was ready to be upgraded. Found an '04 with 12K miles on it and scooped it up. I would have loved to have had the Z, but with 2 children, I went for the next best thing. Two words: Close Enough!! It has plenty of room, lots of gadgets, which I like, an extremely powerful engine, a tranny you can't even feel shift, and the BOSE system is sweet. It rides nice and smooth for a car sitting on 18s, and takes corners like nobody's business. I love the distinct body style, from the aggressive front end to the mean pipes in back. This is one nice ride!!
I love my Maxima.
The improvements in this car as to head room, leg room and the exterior are unbelievable. It is just a head turning unbelievable car.
First Max
I only own the vehicle for about 3 weeks so far but have been thoroughly impressed already. The "fun to drive" factor is very high with all that power under the hood with what seems to be a good match in the suspension as well. It corners flat, and the engine pulls strong at any speed. The interior is unique. The heated leather seats and suede pannels on the doors compliment each other nicely (classy and unique). The Bose stereo is great. The "skyview" roof is also a nice feature.
Worst car I've owned
This is the 3rd and last Maxima I will own. The car is/was beautiful and had all the perks, leather, heated seats, sunroof, heated steering wheel, Bose. I always got compliments on what a good looking car that is was. But that was it. During the 5 years of owner ship, replaced brakes 3 times, rotors twice, 3 wheel bearings, 1 steering knuckle, AC system had a leak at factory fitting, the rear end could not be aligned and ate tires every few months, and the transmission started to go (Google it). I hear many of the same complaints from this $30k+ car. Got to the point that I did not enjoy driving it because I was worried of what would go wrong next. Now I drive a 2009 Hyundai Sonata that I love!
Easy to break into
I have owned my Max for 2 years. On June 27 2006 my car was broken into. Doors were locked, windows were up,and alarm was working. When I came outside to my car the 2 front windows were down and the door lock was messed up. Apparently, someone used an object, such as a screw driver, jammed it in the driver's side door turned it to make the windows come down and doors to unlock which is why the alarm never went off. This happen right in front of my house around 5:00 am no noise was made. Fortunately, the only thing they stole was a cell phone adapter. I am nervous about how easy it is to get into this car and searching for a car that does not have this feature. The repair bill was $794
Totally Awesome Sedan
I have always been impressed with Nissan products, but this new Maxima is absolutely the most outrageous sedan I've ever driven. It's incredibly fast, the handling is extremely crisp and precise and it's very roomy and quiet inside!! My wife loves the power tilt/heated steering wheel. We both hate getting out of this car!! WE get stared at a lot too!!
lori
Great car-----fun to drive. Confortable to drive! Beautiful to look at. What else could you assk for in a car! I feell in love with it!
Best car i've owned so far
I purchased my car exactly 1 year ago with 72k miles, now it has 90k and have had no problems at all besides general maintenance. After reading all the bad reviews about transmission problems I bought a 3 year extended warranty and have yet to use it.
nice car!
So far its an awesome machine!!
2004 Maxima is a great car!
I've owned a Honda Accord, Lexus ES300, Saab, BMW, and Land Rover. Nothing compares to the beefy and sophisticated styling of Nissan's new Maxima.
I love it
Very fun to drive and looks good! It turns a lot of heads!
Undecided
I love my maxima, but as previously stated, it makes so much noise while youre driving it. It feels like you're riding it offroad and it makes the driver and passenger shake. My front struts also went bad a 7k miles. other then that, I love it. I dont know if I'd buy another maxima in the future.
Sleek Look
I have had my Maxima for about 3 months. I have two sons and we all love the roomy interior. The only fault I found is the turning radius and the front wheel drive is not my favorite, but I am getting use to it. I love it!
Nissan Has A Winner
I have to tell you. I've had my Max since 2003. It's a great car with both power and style. Still turns heads after 2 years! The engine is smooth and powerful without sacrificing MPG. I avg. 24.9 MPG. Not bad for such a strong motor! If I have anything negative to say, it's nothing different that what's already been in reviews - fix the torque steer issue and work on the wide turning radius. Other than that - I love my Maxima!!
BEST CAR
This is the greatest car I have ever had. It is so smooth to drive it and its extremely powerful and fast.
A great car
The car is solid. The transmission is superb and I like the styling. I have 8200 miles on the car and had a few rattles in the interior, but the power train is the best I have ever driven. I didn't know that Renault is the primary owner of Nissan when I bought this car!! After 4 months, I have only seen 2 or 3 more of these on the road!
Boy This Thing Is FASTTT
This car is so fast it's almost scary to drive. THIS model is definately worthy of the title of "4-door sports car"
2004 Maxima SL
Most outstanding noticable feature is the motor performance - - smooth, very good response. Handles easily. Interior is excellent, very comfortable with passenger controls. Many features. Interior is very roomy. Significantly larger than the Camry we owned previously.
Great Car
This is truly a drivers car, and the bose 320 watt system is great.Nissan went all the way with this new design. This car turns more heads than a Mercedes!
Best Car I Ever Owned
The best preformance you could find for the dollar investment. The interior is wonderful. Great driving position.
