I love my maxima!
I purchased a 2003 in Novemer of 2002. When I saw the new 2004 I had to drive it. 2 Months later I traded my 2003 for the 2004.. I love it. I love the way it feels, I love the way it looks, I love the way it handles. As you can see I love the 2004 Maxima. Keep up the good work. Oh by the way it is my 4th Maxima.
Disappointed overall
Bought brand new 2004 was a great car until it needed tires rotated from that point on we had a shimmy in the front end. Steering wheel vibration very bad on highway at 50+. Dealer changed struts, we changed tires with good year, then GY took back and made allowance on new tires still had vibration. No matter what it had to have tires balanced every 1000, 1500 miles to not vibrate. Also breaks make noise all the time even after have them changed at dealer. Turning radius is awful, don't try to park the car without backing up and pulling in again every time. Love the car, hate the problems, traded for a Toyota Avalon 2008

nissan max 04
i see everyone has a problem with the grill easy to fix get a raizerblade and push easly up on it and take it right off i didnt know what to do for a while then i came up with that idea now it looks great!or buy an aftermarket grill thats all. ppl just run in to one problem and say all this bad stuff about the maxima.. its the best car u can buy 3rd best engine in the world great looks u cant ask for more with the nissan maxima .
Beautiful Junk
I bought my Max privately just after the ABS sensors and actuator were replaced @ Lancaster Nissan. 14,000mi later, I needed the very same work done by the same dealer. I refuse. I have had other items go bad @ a couple $100 here and a couple $100 there. The car is beautiful but full of knocking noises. The car is uncomfortable because I sit on the seats instead of in them. I owned a 93' Altima & a 96' Max. Both were of a much better quality than this car. I owned a Buick between the two Maximas & will go back when I can get rid of this car. I bought my 2004 Max based on a good reputation. I will never buy another Nissan. -ScottieG
No Holes NISSSAN
Have had the Maxima for approx 3 weeks and am awed by the comfort and power of this vehicle. Handles well on turns, good acceleration , gas mileage has been decent(booklet says 87 and above can be used). Told the dealer to add in the service manual for free.. which are 4 books in all worth 400 clams in total, and he would have a deal.Car was bought at 29K. Leather interior is great, Bose sound is outstanding, noise reduction is soothing.Safety features rival the benz and volvo' s. Braking distance was a worry with the older model however the newer model does quite adequately with the abs system.
Love it
Bought the Maxima in June....it has been great! Everything about it - looks, comfort and the sound system....it is a great car to own!
so coollll
i love my maxima. the drive to totally fun and i get so many compliments on it.
Very Good
This is the best car I've ever driven. It is great.
2004 nissan opinions
It is entirely to rough for me. performance is there but I would like a car with a much better ride. It just don't smooth out the small imperfections in the road. The low profile tire is most of the problem.
Great looks and Fun to drive
GREAT CAR LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT FROM ITS COLOR TO THE WHEELS. FUN TO DRIVE,HAD IT FOR ONLY A FEW MONTHS AND ALREADY THINK ITS THE BEST MAXIMA I EVER HAD ,I HAVE OWNED A 93 AND 95 .TEST DRIVE AND YOU WON'T REGRET IT
Great Car
We bought this car in March of 2010, with 85,000 miles; it now has 96,000, after only 5 months. So far, it has been a very reliable, roomy, and comfortable family car. We average around 24.5 mpg. On a recent 300-mile trip, I averaged 31.2 mpg with luggage and a passenger. The front seats are comfortable, but the seat backs are shaped oddly, and can become annoying. The back seat is huge, and is more comfortable than the front. It is very enjoyable to drive, with lots of power, engaging handling, and a firm yet compliant ride. It is quiet inside, with only minor road noise. The BOSE sound system sounds great, and the radio display is excellent. I would highly recommend this car to anyone.
Poor Factory Workmanship
Car needed immediate paint touchup upon vehicle receipt due to several paint chips. Car has been back for repairs to sun roof wind deflector which prevented sunroof from closing, multiple visits to dealership to get rear deck speaker buzzing on Bose system fixed - a service bulletin has been issued for this problem and it still has not been corrected. Car scheduled to go in to body shop (approved by Nissan) due to chipped paint in multiple locations all over car due to poor quality factory paint job.
PERFECT
LOOKS AND IT'S FEEL NICE, REALLY FUN TO DRIVE
way to go, nissan
this is our second maxima, we traded in a 97, which we also loved. this 2004 is a fabulous upgrade for anyone, but having been a nissan family for years, this tops them all. it is sporty, fun to drive, very luxurious and from experience, we know will be dependable.
Bad Paint job/ Good look
I did alot of research on different types of cars and features, however as soon as aI saw this car all others were a distant thought.
Cool car
I just love it, very smooth, and powerful
In love w/ my ride!!
I saw it on the internet and knew I had to have it. I love the luxury feel, the cars appearance and ride. I had to have the leather and sun-roof. I am glad that I didn't get the BMW 325.
Fun, Fast Ride!
Cannot put into words how much I love this car! It is so much fun to drive, and the effortless power is great! The new look is neat to. I love the options, the VDC trac control is great, and highly recomend it. I have the SE model with the elite package. Love the way this car turns heads!
Max Max Baby
I couldn't ask for a sweeter car in the price range for style, class comfort and reliablty.
Great Car
This is a great car. I owned 2000 Maxima before I purchased this one, there is no comparison. Fuel economy is also great on the road I get 35 mpg.
what a beutiful car!
beautiful style, confortable ride
awesome
This is my first Nissan, when I first saw the Maxima I knew it was for me. Driving is an experience, smooth & confortable and yes she MOVES!!!
Love It, Love It, Love It!
I have always loved Nissan automobiles, but the Maxima is by far the best I have ever owned.
Beware Competition
I have worked for the dealership I purchased the car from and have always liked the Maxima better than some of our other lines but, when this came out I bought it after a 3 mile test drive without low interest or any rebates. I am careful with my money and it had to be one heck of a car for me to do this and I couldn't be happier. Now you have a 60 year old man that won't pass up a run from the light.
All but one....
Very fun car to drive. The vehicle has a strong power source. Seats are a little uncomfortable, and most of all, most importantly, the turning radius is that of a limo. Very poor turning radius..trust me on this, i have driven some long cars. There is a considerable amount of road noise as well, you get used to it!.you can feel every bump and crack in the road, some probably like that feeling. Car has an unwanted shake in front end, dealer cant fix it. 55-65 mph all in all, good for the price, far from luxury though! Dealer very willing to push down price. SE w/500 of options paid $26,000 even! dont let them fool you...its not even 2004 yet.
withholding judgment
The power train is great. Smooth, quiet and quick acceleration. The engine is definitely the best feature of this vehicle. But reliability is a question and quality of interior is not on level of Camry or Accord. Still thinking that the wiser choice would have been the Accord; but will withhold judgment so long as the reliability is much better than average.
getting a lot of looks
My first Nissan, and I am very pleased. Everyone that gets in raves about what a gorgeos car it is. I got the rear bucket seats, and LOVE them! (As do the kids!) Everywhere we go, people are asking us about it, we've been approache sitting in traffic, in parking lots just about everywhere. All I can say is just take it for a test drive!
BEST CAR FOR THE PRICE RANGE
I've had this car for almost three months...one word, AWESOME. The engine truly is remarkable! Real fast city or highway. Definetly one of the sharpest looking sedans on the road, but dont take my word for it....buy one and see how many oohs and ahhs you get.
Never Again
I bought my 2004 Maxima 3.5 SL brand new and I maintain it religiously. I owned a 1997 and that was one of the best cars I ever owned. This is probably the worst car I ever owned. Two recalls, the transmission went 100 miles before the warranty expired. Front grille replaced 3 times because of peeling. Brake problems. Had all the documentation and got zero satisfaction from Nissan. Latest - ABS problem, rear bearings, etc. All expensive repairs. Wrote a letter to the President of Nissan - no response. I will never ever ever buy another Nissan product.
I am so Happy!
I have always had SUV's - this is my first car and my first foreign vehicle. I am loving it. The price was a little high, but I am definitely reaping the benefits. I actually had someone tell me it looks like a one hundred thousand dollar car. The sleekness of it is so gorgeous.
Not Up to Par
This car is not up to par for the cost. New was well over $30,000. I have had brake problems, the CD player skips, the a/c has stopped all together, and now it is making a knocking noise. I will be getting rid of it because I do not want to sink more money in it. It is a shame that Nissan did not pay as much attention to the Maxima as the Altima. If I had it to do over again I would have saved and bought the Altima. Now I will never buy another Nissan, i don't care what they are selling.
What a Great Car
Super Car; 1000% better than the 97 we traded; quiet ride; great pickup; tremendous looks; comfortable; super nav and sound systems; great air bag protection; rear bucket heated seats are roomy; big trunk.....and a really great price in comparison to the competition...
Attention ! Turn Off the Radio....SE MAX
I bought a Maxima '04 Driver Preffered Package its LOOKS very cool.BUT DRIVING THIS CAR BETWEEN 65 TO 85MPH WITH WINDY WEATHER CONDITION (10 TO 25MPH WIND)YOU CAN REALLY HEAR THAT ANNOYING WHEEZING SOUND.I called the dealer and they said bec.of the design.Rediculous paying $30K PLEASE NISSAN WAKE-UP...
AWSOME MAXIMA
I LOVE THE MAXIMA IT HAS ALOT OF SPEED AND A SMOOTH RIDE I HATE TO LEAVE IT I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT
A Taste Of Excellence
This being my third Maxima and fifth Nissan should say something as to how I feel about this car and maker. I'm extremely happy with this vehicle I guess the only thing I can really say that would need any improvement would be the comfort. I'm not saying it's not comfortable but to be honest I can't think of anything wrong with this vehicle.
2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5SL
Absolutly love it! Truly a luxery car! Beautiful interior, lots of room, and lots of features. Wonderful leather interior, 6 CD changer with Bose speakers. Great highway car and in town too! Good gas mileage 27 to 29 mpg on the highway. The Sky roof is okay but I wish I had the sunroof option. Some of the controls take getting used to but I love all the features on the steering wheel. I owned a Camry and loved it for 12 years and the Maxima is a wonderful replacement. Both great vehicles but I'm happy to be driving a 2004 Maxima!
2004 Maxima
Love it-been waiting years for the model update-third Maxima owned, and reliable as usual
great
awsome to drive very fast. I outrun a 5.0 mustang of the line quarter mile
Satisfied with Nissan
Nissan always manage to improve on a already good product. I have purchased Nissans over the past 25 years and I have been satisfied with the quality and technology that NIssan manages to bring to the table.
2004 Maxima SE, Automatic
We have had our Maxima for 21/2 months and are absolutely enthralled with it. We choose the 2004 over the year end 2003 for various reasons. first we wanted the most modern version. Second we love the changes in appearence and the larger, roomier interior. and of course all of the whistles and bells abailavle too us.
Hands Down Best Nissan Has built to Date
This is my 3rd Max and it is hands down the best one I've owned. I also own 1996 Gle. Nissan has out done themselves with this model. Me and wife fight over who is going to drive it next.
LOOKING GOOD
AND I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME WHO NOTICED THE HORRIBLE TURNING RADIUS, MENTIONED MANY TIMES.
More Pros Than Cons
Saw this car while on vacation in Florida and fell in love with it. It's a very competent road car, with powerful acceleration and a roomy cabin. Styling (other than grille) is top notch. Had to replace front shocks under warranty and now there is a vibration in steering wheel. I hope can be remedied with tire balancing, but have read many complaints in the past about wheel/tire issues related to this. Overall, have been very happy with car and it's the best one I've ever owned.
This is my third Maxima
This is a great car inside and out. Comfortable and exciting to drive. Only objections are the poor turning radius and the occasional tendency of the car to "get away" from you when accelerating under certain conditions, two flaws I knew about before purchasing, but which did not deter me because Maximas are so reliable. Also, original set of tires went 60K miles before needing replacement. I owned 1989, 1994 and 2004 models and liked them all. Had zero mechanical problems. Drove the 1994 for 10 yrs, 105K miles and sold it for $5K. I do a lot of highway driving and this car is fantastic for long trips.
My Nissan
When it was time to buy a new car. I knew that Nissan was going to be the car of choice. We had owned a Maxima before and after 10 years and 140,000 miles, sold it to my nephew, as a first car. He still is driving it...and that has been 3 years ago! We purchased a 2004 Nissan Maxima. I liked the sleek, sporty design, and it still had enough interior room for the kids in my carpool! I was glad to see the return of smaller rear lights. The only thing I have noticed is the ride of the car. Because the standard tires are Eagle Goodyear low profile, you can feel every bump, groove. It sometimes feels like you are riding in a truck!
AWESOME CAR!!!
I purchased the 2004 Nissan Maxima over a month ago, and I LOVE IT. Its sytlish, fun to drive, and easy to handle. This car fits my personalilty - which is professional, fun, outgoing, full of energy, and stylish!! I highly recommend the 2004 Nissan Maxima. This is my second Maxima, and I am sold on this car.
Undecided
I love my maxima, but as previously stated, it makes so much noise while youre driving it. It feels like you're riding it offroad and it makes the driver and passenger shake. My front struts also went bad a 7k miles. other then that, I love it. I dont know if I'd buy another maxima in the future.
Sleek Look
I have had my Maxima for about 3 months. I have two sons and we all love the roomy interior. The only fault I found is the turning radius and the front wheel drive is not my favorite, but I am getting use to it. I love it!
Nissan Has A Winner
I have to tell you. I've had my Max since 2003. It's a great car with both power and style. Still turns heads after 2 years! The engine is smooth and powerful without sacrificing MPG. I avg. 24.9 MPG. Not bad for such a strong motor! If I have anything negative to say, it's nothing different that what's already been in reviews - fix the torque steer issue and work on the wide turning radius. Other than that - I love my Maxima!!
BEST CAR
This is the greatest car I have ever had. It is so smooth to drive it and its extremely powerful and fast.
