All around perfect car...
My first car was a black 1990 model 240SX with the five speed manual transmission. It had 170K miles on it and was twelve years old. I drove the car for five years with minimal repairs. When I sold the car it had $260K miles on it and was in rough shape. It still drove and shifted perfectly, but the headlights would not longer go down, the paint was peeling off the car in chunks, and the seats were comming appart. If I could do things over, I would have kept the car and invested the money I threw away on a newer Hyundai in it.
Overview
Fun car to drive. Back seat is tight for passengers, able to haul quite a bit with the back seat down. Car hit 120,000 miles and we started to have mechanical problems. Giving it up as it is starting to eat to much into the wallet.
This is the car you've been looking for
This car has good torque, a huge array of aftermarket and japanese parts, seats two adults and two children or small adults, gets insanely good mileage (30mpg on the freeway with good driving habits), and handles better than a porsche 944 from the same year. Parts are priced about average, though they can be hard to get out of a junkyard. And the car even looks pretty cool.
love it
This is my second 1990 240. Its a great car, looks fanastic, drives great and never gives me any problems. I would highly recommend this as a used car buy. Nissan only put 3 valves per cylinder but that lowers your insurance and the performance is still great. Only problem, the radios wear out fast. And I love my dealership (Midway Motors)
240sx
Great base for any car lover and someone who wants to start drifting/racing.
Very responsive
My Mom gave me this car with 120k miles on it. I have been performing all the maintenance myself, and it has been super reliable. It's got 212k miles on it now and it's still running strong. I only slightly upgraded the suspension to tokico but left the stock wheels on it. The handling is precise and immediate. When you want to turn it turns without the big sedan/SUV lean. When you want to go, you put it in gear and release the clutch, without the automatic tranny lunge. When you want to speed up quickly, downshift and go. I have been looking for a new car, but I cannot find one on the market with this kind of performance. I think the weight of the car is a huge factor.
AWESOME CAR
Bought this car new. It's got 188,000 miles on it and I'm trading it in. I will miss it, but it's time to do so. It still looks new and runs as well as the day I brought it home. However, too much work needs to be done on electric mirrors, cruise control, etc., for me to put into it. The car has been a dream to own. It's reliable, FUN to drive, still turns heads.
240sx
has 219,000 and runs better than it ever did. Will smoke mitsubishi eclipse gs any day of the week.
Fun and Sporty...
Over last 6 years, this car has been great! Replaced front rotors, but nothing else except maintenance for this puppy. Suspensions been getting softer over the years, but not too soft yet. This is a super reliable little daily driver - too bad my family can't fit it in!
Its the hottest thing since McDonalds
I've had no problems with this car yet.now I'm ready to make it into a racing car.Cant wait to get my SR20DET engine, and exuast system, and everything else done to it.Its worth it with this car.
The Best there is!
The 240SX is the most fun, most powerful and most admired car in its class.
Great little car
I haven't had this car for too long, but it has just over 120,000 miles, and I have had very minimal problems. I drive almost 1000 miles a week and this little car does great. It looks great, it's relatively fast, and the handling is incredible! Not to mention, so far this car is as reliable as any Honda or Toyota that I've ever owned. Unfortunately I'm about to sell it to make way for a baby. However, it's been such a good car, that I find myself wanting to buy another Nissan for my next vehicle.
awesome.
I've only had this car for a few months, but it's awesome. handling is outstanding. interior looks good, and the outside even better.
perfect for autoX
i got this car with 56,000 miles on it for under 3k. the stock airbox left something to be disired over 3000 RPM's but a K&N FIPK intake took care of any problems i had with the power band. car corners really flat even before the strut bar was added. this car is oozing with potential, with a few thousand dollars put in the right places a 240sx could be one of the fastest cars on the road.
Awesome car
I loved my car when I had it. It may of had 168,000 miles but it still ran like it was brand new. I was forced to sell it due to college. I wish I still had it.
Great car...
This was my first car. I love the feel of a rear wheel drive car and the stick makes it fun to drive. It isn't the fastest thing in the world, but does hold its own. It was never meant for more than one passenger. The paint is faded and peeling and the interior is ripping, but the car is after all sixteen years old. Mechanical problems have been minimal and easily and inexpensively fixed.
my little sx
I bought my baby when it was traded in for a new vehicle. It runs excellent, is quick, precise handling, a true sports car- with torsion bar suspension! I now have a minor problem with the driver's p/w ctrl switch for the pass side, and my pwr antenna needs replacement, but I still love it. More power than my Camry LE!
My First Car
My 240SX has been a dependable and sporty means of transprotation. Performance is good stock. Handling is awesome, but acceleration is disappointing. Potential performance is really high in all areas. Its comfortable to drive with a well- placed shifter and good seats. Fuel economy is so-so. It's fun to drive with rear-wheel drive, and the torquey engine makes it feel more fun. The interior is well-designed, and exterior styling is great (love the sleek fastback look and the flip-up lights). The build quality is very good, only a bit of rust on the bottom hatch, and its extremly reliable; it was cared for with 125k miles, and if I continue, I'd expect 200k.

A pure sports car. For the powerplant it gives you the best bang for the buck performancewise. Being a RWD it handles like it's on rails. Low profile for a great look and if you like to mod. your car, there isn't a better one out there.
high mileage 1990 240sx
I've owned my 240sx for 2 years now, havn't had any engine problems, just electrical which was expected (altenator, starter). Since I have owned it, I've installed a centerforce clutch (excellent for car), kyb rear struts, injen air intake, sumitomo tires, and a sports exhaust along with the 2 resignators removed. (a very loud 4-cylinder) The one engine problem I am dissapointed in is that there has been a small fuel leak out of 2 of the fuel injectors, everytime I start the car, a small amount of fuel leaks out the injectors. Overall I am proud of my 240, the rear wheel drive made this car very fun.
Fun to Drive.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have owned my 240 for 3 yrs and it still is tearin it up. These cars sound great with a system and it is the coolest car to modify in the world! I love rear wheel drive. Why is it again that they stopped making these?
1990 240sx SE
Love the car to 220,000 miles :) Strengths : Handling is awesome, turning radius can't be beat. 12 valve Engine is reliable mechanically, with very few problems electrically, a timing CHAIN !! Rear wheel drive that makes the car a DREAM to drive on dry pavement. Good Cali car. Weaknesses: 1. Exhaust manifold bolts @ 60,000 and 120,000 mi. :( 2. Slippery on wet pavement when accelerating forward, side slip negligable on corners @ 70mph wet. 3. Injectors leaking badly at 125,000 :( 4. Sensors, fan clutch and radiator replaced at 100,000 mi. :| 5. Timing chain changed at an astounding 150,000 miles :) 6. 210,000 mi. front seat broke. :| 7. front oil seal @ 100,000 :| Nice car, worth it :)
My 240sx Review

90 240sx
i love this car. starts out as a pretty decent car but with mods this car goes far and becomes an amazing car to drive.
Excellent Car
I have replaced the clutch once and of course have done all of the upkeep on a fairly strict schedule. I truly love this car. It is a 5-speed and has safely gotten me home through blizzards, rain storms, and heat waves. This car has been maintained by the dealer where I originally purchased it. I am planning to watch the odometer to go beyond the 300,000 mile mark.
Excellent Vehicle
Had one for 8 years now. Never had any problems whatsoever. Excellent vehicle for cruising down the highway in the summertime.
