Fun to Drive
Second Mitsubishi 3000 GT I've owned. The body is beautiful, slick and aerodynamic. The interior panel with amazing display. More fun to drive than my other 2 newer and more expensive vehicles.
Run Mustang Run
This is one of the best cars Mitsubishi has made. It is faster than the V6 and hangs with the V8 GT Mustang and it's only a 3.0 Liter V6 Engine. I love the way people turn to look at it.

Great Machine
Mits came up with a solid winner with this car. Even though it is a little heavy with AWD and all wheel steering, acceleration is fierce at 5.3 sec/>60 mph. The VR-4 is well built and very dependable. I bought mine new and has 71,000 miles now. Although the car is expensive, you get more than you paid for. Even in wet weather, the car never fish tails or slips its tracking around corners, thanks to AW steering. Yes, the rear wheels turn up to 15 degrees in proportion to the front wheels steering. The 320 HP rating can be increased relatively cheaply w/intake and exhaust mods to 400 HP!
3000GT SL DOHC 5 Speed
Solid car just hit 100K miles and still no rattles or noises and runs and shifts as new. It has good power with the 5 spd...much better than our Stealth R/T auto. Handling is very nice and tight if you upgrade the rear swaybar to the bigger Addco bar and it stll rides smooth unlike most sporty cars we've had. 60K maint is important since it's a quadcam engine the belt won't last forever.
VR-4, A greats sports car for all season
This is my 2nd VR-4, having previously owned a 93 Dodge Stealth RT only to trade it in on this VR-4 when it reached 110,000 miles. I'm up to 92,000 on this machine and it's been every bit as great as my Stealth. New 18 inch wheels with high performance tires on this model not so great in snow (live on steep hill in New England) so have backup 17 inch wheels with snows for winter, making perfect year round sports car. Great performance & reliability (one of the few reliable sports cars). Totally predictable handling under all circumstances (have had on track at Watkins Glen). Absolutely no problems over two cars and now 200,000 miles plus combined.
3000GT is Great
I purchased it used, in 2000 with 44K. Not a single problem as yet. However, I do perform routine maintenance as scheduled all the time. Cockpit is a bit cramped. Back seats are for kids. Drives like a dream. Fast, head turner, stylish inside & out. Feels solidly built. I own SL model with power sunroof + power everything else. Now has 53K and still great.
Beautiful car
This is my 2nd 3000gt base i have had. I love it!! However it feels like it holds back in performance. Don't get me wrong, it is fast enough for anyone, but i Love speed, so i crave for more torque and more hp. is a little noisy in the interior and the seats in fabric is not too classy, but overall the car is a dream machine.
Lightning on four wheels
I bought my '97 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, in black on black, brand new with seven miles on it, when I drove it off the lot. This car, even with AWD and all wheel steering, topping the scale at 4,000 lbs, still whoops some serious booty. I disconnected the oxygen sensor and added a free breather filter. Now it routinely outruns Cobras, Vettes and 911s. I don't know how much HP this trick added, but it must be significant. The rest of the car is entirely stock, except for air horns, which I added.
GT collector
I collect 2nd gen 3000GTs and currently have 4. I've only owned this 97 GT for a few years and I am still impressed with it. It had 187,000 miles on it when I bought it and it now has 234,000 miles. The only problems so far were the rear brake calipers went out on it and the exhaust downpipe. But other than that it is a great car, quick and reliable. It is a big car, though, clearing in at 7ft wide and 14ft long. It sticks to the road. It is a shame that they could not produce them cheaper to keep them around but at least they outlived their twin, the Dodge Stealth, and the over priced Toyota Supra. The 97 GT is a great car if you can find one.
1998 3000gt
I bought this car in Dec. of 1998 and this car had no mileage on it. The car now has 50000 miles and its running great except for this ticking noise when the engine is cold. I have not had any problems with it thus far and I am very pleased with it.
Dream Car!
The VR-4 is by far the funnest car that I have ever driven, and I valet full time at the airport! I would not recomend it for daily driving as fuel economy isn't all that great and it dose not offer the best comfort. This is definitely a collector's car that I will keep forever.
3000GT SL
This car has a timeless design. I haven't seen any new car that matches its lines, both inside and out. The interior is beautifully done and is very comfortable to drive around town and long distances. It has the appearance of a world class sports car and always catches eyes when its clean and shiny. It's a shame Mitsubishi stopped making them in '99!
Media Undgerdog
With the exception of it's introductory of the 1991 model, the 3000GT VR4 has been the media's red haired step child to it's very end in 1999. Unfair to say the least. There has never been a sports car that allows the most street performance for the non-professional driver. Bottom line, many high performance cars put up incredible numbers at the track and magazine articles, but none allow the common driver to actually make use of it on the street (not necessarily breaking the law, either.)
97 3000GT SL - Excellent Car
I bought my 1997 3000GT SL brand new in August 1997 and have loved it ever since - currently have 91,000 miles on it. No major problems until 80,000 miles when the water pump went. Around 90,000 the antenna finally stopped going up/down. Other than those 2 small problems, the car has been a dream. Never had any major problems with it. Followed the owner's manual scheduled maintenance to the "T", and have never been disappointed.
lva3kgt
I've had my 97 SL for several years now. It had 30K miles when I bought it in late 2001. Today it has over 192,000 and still runs 15.0 @ 91MPH in the 1/4mile. Not great, but not bad for a car that gets 25.5 MPG and is a V6. As long as you do the scheduled service, it will last a long time.
My Car
I have very few problems with this car. It handles great on street and highway driving. It gets the ladies. It is very fun to modify if you like to do that. It has a very nice layout for the dash and gauges.
1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT
I've had this car for about 8 years and counting. Starting with the bad experience, I had to replace my tranny twice. Other than that, the car is great. I raced against a 2000 viper and won among other races. With the radio controls on my steering wheel, I never take my eyes off the road. It feels comfortable on the road. It pulls real hard on the take off when the pedal is to the metal. The interior is nice. I've recently upgraded the turbo, carbon fiber hood and light weight fly wheel. This car is a monster.
Constant Craving - In a BAD WAY
This car catches everyone's eye all the time. HOWEVER, it has been a constant problem. I have gone through 3 thermostats which caused the car to shift irregularly and harshly. The timing belt change at around 80k miles is $$$$$. Parts are $$$$. Keep in mind, I have the base model. I think they really left out a lot of quality on the engine as a result.
NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED
I traded in my 3000GT Base for a 97 3000GT SL in December of 2000. This Vehicle performs. Smooth ride, Handles like a dream, every option you can think of is on this car and it was all standard from the manufacturer. Excellent sound system for when I'm cruising long distance. I have had my share of sports cars and they all had some kind of MAJOR problem come up. Not this 3000GT SL. I now have 49,000 mile on this black beauty and she still looks brand spanken new, inside and out.
3000 GT - Lemon
This car came with no warranty available I had it for less than 90 days when the water pump froze and the timing belt broke which caused major problem with the engine. Company would not stand behind the problem with car.
3000 GT SL
This car had always been one of my favorites since its introduction (even over the Dodge Stealth). I love to drive it and love being seen in it, let's face it, I need all the help I can get. The car I purchased has every option and performs very well for an FWD sports car. It's surprising how a few, relatively inexpensive, mods can take this car to well over 300 bhp.
Love my VR4!
The most beautiful and practical sports car on the planet for under 25K!
My 3000GT Review
My car is fun to drive and I love all the reactions I get from it and how people come up to me and ask questions about it. But the only problem i have with it so far is some pulleys and transmisson, however, the person before me raced it so it was going out sooner or later. If you get the chance to either buy one or just to drive one I would go for the VR-4 which is twin turbo AWD. Sooner or later im going to get the twin turbo in my car.
Great car
Bought a brand new 3000 GT in the year 1994, had only 56000 miles on it in the year 2001, was hit and totaled. Bought this 1997 from private party in 2002, only had 29000 miles on it. Great fun to drive, design never gets old.
Great Vehicle
I have been working with vehicles for a long time and I have found the 3000gt to be very fun with a very good body design. Also they are very fast when modified correctly.
Can't beat the looks
Love the look of my 97 red with chrome rims really makes it pop. The only thing that I don't like is getting in and out.

AMAZING
Great car. I've had one for about two years now and I still love it as much as the first time I drove it off the lot. Its got about 90,000 miles on it and the only thing I've had to replace is the clutch but the previous and only owner was a woman. Go figure but it's a pretty amazing car.

Transmission Problems
Excellent!
Ive owned 2 of these bad boys and i love em. the only thing that suprised me was how fast it lost its value. otherwise i strongly advise getting one if you can.
What kind of car is that?
Since this is a 10 year old car it still has the shape of a new sports car today. I have a budget and wanted a car with a reasonable price. The headlights look like a jag and the doors have indentations like a viper. Since I'm a girl it's aggravating not having man hands to check under the hood. I don't drive it everyday but when I do it is puts myself in total bliss. I have hip and back problems but it rides so comfortable. Sometimes people stop me to comment how beautiful it is because there aren't very many in this area.
98 5spd SL
This car without a doubt is my favorite car of all time. I have a 98 SL 5spd and the pickup and power is nice. Although it's not a car for roll races on the highway. Off the line though it can upset some pretty fast cars like mustang GT's. Overall it's a great car, pretty quick, and a major head turner. I'm currently selling mine to get a Vr4.
Sweet Fast
This is by far one of the fastest cars you can get for your moneys worth!
3000 Reasons
The poor mans Ferrari. An Excellent sports car and driving experience. That was just two reasons out of 3000.
Sluggish but Fun
This is the best looking car I've seen in a while. If you're going for looks, get this car, if you're going speed, get the turbo. This car turns a lot of heads with its looks, and $2,000 dollar rims. When I bought mine it had a 3 stage pearl white paint that was in excellent condition, a huge rear spoiler that looks great, and leather interior. It's slow off the line, but that could be just do to the automatic transmition. It comes with an economy/power switch, that helps the performance a bit. Personally I prefer the looks over the performance. Overall in my opinion this is a great car and it was worth the $12,000 cash that I paid for it.
RED DEVIL
I just bought a 1998 Mitsubishi 3000GT and all I can say is that I'm in love. It drives very smoothly for a sports car and I like the way everyone looks at it as I drive down the street. This is not my first Mitsubshi, I also own an Eclipse that I drove the heck out of. I've been very pleased with my cars.
1998 3000GT SL Black/Tan
I've had this vehicle for over five years now. I bought it in late 99' and saved $12,000 from the original $36,500 retail price. It has just over 40,000 miles on it now. I have not yet had a single problem with this vehicle. I'm 6'2" / 190lbs. and I do fit in the car fine, but someone taller or over 250 pounds would likely not be comfortable. The back seat is pretty much useless unless you're driving around someone under the age of 8. The performance on the SL is decent overall. The handling is great, It's a little slow off of the line, but better than the average car out there. Stock it has 220 HP, but I recommend getting a filter intake performance kit to knock it up to 230-240HP for under $100. It looks great!!
Very Solid Coupe 1998 3000GT SL
20 years old now with only recommended maint needed, 116K just did the 2nd timing belt change (60k intervals) old one still looked good but not worth taking a chance, still runs smooth no oil cosumption always ran rotella t6 and rides silent no rattles or other noises, no surprises, garaged Pearl White paint and Black interior still look new, larger rear sway bar added and RE760 Potenzas on wider rims really gave it grip and quick turning upgrade. Great highway car 26 to 28 mpg cruising. The manual trans performs much better than our Stealth RT auto but otherwise same car. Cool car always gets looks and a great long term keeper it seems the 90s produced some very solid uncomplicated cars, passes emissions and never had a check engine light. Weak points are window regulators or Stealth drivers side broke at 90k so I took the 3000GT one out before it broke and reinforced the to plastic roller part that gets brittle and grease it working perfect still.

More fun AND more VERSATILE than a 'vette!!
I have a Caracas Red 1998 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL automatic in concours condition. People jump out of their cars at red lights to take pictures, and everywhere I take it, it is a source of attention and awe. I've owned multiple corvettes, Avanti's, a gull-wing Mercedes, a Bricklin, and even a Delorean....NONE of those are as pleasurable and versatile to drive as my 3000GT. A guy in a Mc Laren gave me a thumbs up at a red light the other day. To call it a head turner is an understatement.... Cars costing 50 to 70,000 more don't even begin to attract the same attention. I will NEVER sell it.

3000GT VR4 ROX
Its a great car! an exotic!
Pretty Tight So Far
I've only had my 1998 Mitsubishi 3000GT for less than a week, but I am very pleased so far. It is Pearl Green and is in Mint condition with only 56,000 miles on it. It looks almost brand new inside and out. I know it's not the VR-4 or the SL, but hey, look at the bright side (with gas prices like they are, I can use 87 Octane, while those models require 91 Octane). It's still pretty quick off the line anyway. If I had the VR-4, I would probably lose my license due to speeding tickets.
1998 3000GT
This is my second 3000GT, my first one was 1995 model, and I traded in 1998, I have a same model and same color- Red...it is fun to drive. My current mileage is 127500, and still running great. Good handling, and I put on snow tires in winter, and no problem for the snow. I like it.
sucks in the snow
its a blast to drive...very fast!!! great interior....bad in the snow. wheels are very sensitive. i have replaced 3 in one ye doing a wheel alignment is nasty!!! worth the bucks but not if you live where it snows. r.
