The Epitome Of Understated Luxury
After several thousand miles in a 2015 S550 it would be hard to imagine a more well rounded or comfortable luxury sedan. Performance with the 449HP V8 is more than adequate for any circumstance, and handling is better than one might expect given the size and weight of the car, especially when in the sport mode. The ride is remarkable over any surface and the noise level is lower than any luxury car I've owned, including a Bentley Flying Spur. Mileage is runnning about 20 MPG in combination town and highway driving, getting 25+ on the highway. The technology features abound but are subtle enough not to intrude excessively, and aren't difficult to master. Not one problem so far. A home run Update- After almost 4 years we still love the S550 and have had 0 problems. Supremely comfortable. Great road trip car, getting 27 mpg on the highway. Still outclasses the competition, would buy again with no regrets. Update 2- Approaching 5 years of ownership now and we still LOVE our S550. Still no problems in over 40000 miles. We will continue to drive it for a few more years, as there's still nothing better out there. Best car we've ever owned. Update 3- With over 6 years and 50000 miles, still no problems. Love it more than ever and it's still better than the new competition. Update 4- Approaching 8 years with over 60000 miles. Still reliable and comfortable as ever. We like it so much we intend to drive it a few more years. We looked at the new S Class and prefer the styling of our 2015 and don't need most of the new gimmicky technology. A GREAT car!

What a car
I have owned for a year. Chose over a Bentley. While the Bentley had a nicer outside style, The Mercedes is just a better car, has technology and is faster. I don't like the gas mileage, but I guess that is what you should expect for a sedan that does 0-60 in 3.0 seconds. The car actually steers itself ... stays in lanes ... stops in emergencies. I did get the upgraded interior and stereo ... and in hindsight, love the interior but could have passed on the stereo because it eats trunk space. No maintenance issues whatsoever! The biggest weakness is that it is so subtle. Wish is stood out a little more from the standard s550. By the way, the firmness of the ride over the standard s550 is what makes it for me. Great car, a little overpriced perhaps, but a better deal than some.

Our 3rd S Class
We've owned 5 MB's and to be honest I can identify with the people who have had problems. I've had issues with MB in the past but fortunately for us this time seems to be a charm. We did however have to have the battery replaced. It seems if one has the push button start/stop feature, one has to be sure the car is off and not in standby mode or it will deplete the battery. Now to the good stuff. This car rocks!! This is the best luxury car on the road bar none. I'd put it up against anything out there where luxury is concerned, including Rolls or Bentley. When compared to the uber luxury cars the new S-Class is a champ!
Wonderful luxury, but lots of annoying issues.
One cannot deny the incredible ride quality, quietness, and power of this S class. It is a luxury cruiser beyond compare. It would be hard to rate anything much higher in the overall driving experience. However, after a few years, lots of little gremlins start appearing. Steering position power adjustment quit working, squeaks, rattles, sticking sliders for the cup holders, and a number of other irritating problems just seem to get worse every month. The heads up display Flickrs on and off, making it virtually useless. And the front and rear proximity sensors will often beep at random in the middle of nowhere, for no apparent reason. This leads me to the conclusion that while the engineering on these vehicles is exceptional, not a whole lot of effort is put into long-term reliability of the accessories. The engine is bulletproof; there is very little to criticize. The transmission shifts smoothly and consistently. But all the little gadgets, plastic switches, control levers, etc. begin to show their age far too prematurely. Then to top it off, the air suspension leaks down considerably after only a day or two sitting in the garage. It feels rather strange having a car pump itself up several inches every time you start it. Then there is the recurring issue of the occasional computer reboot in the middle of a trip. All the controls shut down and you get a message that they are no longer functioning, only to get a message a few minutes later that things are back online and working OK. Not sure if this is a software or hardware problem, but it is very annoying. These vehicles are best leased, and not purchased. Drive them for a few years, and then trade them in and let somebody else deal with the aging-based reliability issues. However, one cannot deny that they are magnificent vehicles in many ways.

Best car ever, period
I've owned over 100 different vehicles, and no, I've never been a dealer. The S-Class is truly a work of art. More relaxing than most home theater, living or bedrooms, the S550 is Special in every way. Serenely quiet, aggressively fast, luxury amenities all wrapped perfectly in a single package. Priced new, these are out of reach of most people. However, at 4+ years old and low mileage, this car is a tremendous value. I picked up my 2016 S550 4Matic with 33,5876 miles for less than $45,000. I can't believe I waited this long to venture into German's finest vehicle! I could've saved myself an unthinkable number of auto purchases if I had only tried the Mercedes Special Class sooner. Why didn't I? Well word on the street is these cars are expensive, unreliable, and hard to work on. All lies! They are actually overbuilt, thus very reliable. Dang near indestructible in normal use. Replacement parts are easy to attain. If you are somewhat handy with a wrench, you can easily fix most things yourself. Is their a lot of tech? Yes. Is it confusing? Maybe, but only because there is a multitude of ways to do each thing you want to do. It's simply user preference. My advice is to not be afraid, just try it. You'll wonder why you waited so long.

Perfect (so far) S550 4matic
I have had the car for 3 months, 2500 miles and have absolutely no problems or issues. I went from a 2008 S550 to this 2015 S550 and the new one is a league of its own. Two days after purchase I went on a 300 mile trip on I10 here in Arizona. This gave me time to try and use all the options and gave me a very good comfort level with them. Some of my answers are based on my 2008 but again this car seems bullet proof. 7-12-16 Updating my review: After over a year I am still very happy with this car and love driving it. I wish the buttons to activate lane keeping, night vision etc were in another spot (below the radio screen?). Had regular service a few months ago and still no problems to report. This is a great car! 1-13-17 and 15,000 miles. Car is going strong with no problems other than having to replace the batteries in the key fob (done at no charge by the dealer). 7-1-18 traded the S550 in for a 2018 E400 cabriolet. Was tired of keeping up with an SL550 and the S550 so down to just the one Mercedes now.

Excellent Through 1,000 Miles
Prior vehicle was a 2014 E250. It had 40K miles with no issues. Reason for the S class was I wanted it and didn't want to wait for the diesel. The S is the finest vehicle I have driven. The ride stands out, it is smooth and does not float, handling is outstanding for a large vehicle. The seats are second to none, multiple adjustments and massage minimize driver fatigue. Interior design works very well ergonomically while looking great. With voice command and nearly every function within easy reach on the COMAND system driver can focus on driving while managing other features. The S550 provides more than enough power; haven't detected the turbo lag I experienced in the E Class

Love the ride
Bought my S550 4matic 7 months ago as a CPO from the dealer. I love driving the car but am glad that I sprung for the extended warranty as well as the service plan. Car broke down the day I bought it. This mighty engine was stopped by a cracked elbow in the coolant circuit loosing all the coolant onto the road. The dash warning in bright red told me to stop the car immediately. No lasting damage was done. Since then I have had myriad of other issues from minor to engine stopping due to a bad ignition coil. I think I have worked out all of the kinks. Can't wait to get in the car and drive it everyday. The ride is superb and the interior is very nice. Fastest, biggest, most amazing car that I have ever owned- I love it on long trips and am convinced the ionizer and perfume make me feel better. The stereo sounds great but sometimes I love to turn it off and enjoy the whisper quiet as I travel down the road. No other car like it. It would not be fun to go back to a lesser car. After about a year I am still loving this car. It has been rock solid. The comfort and ride are superb. The powerful engine makes this car get up and go. The styling inside and out still looks fresh today. I never tire of seeing it. Still very happy I bought this car.

WOW - simply WOW
I traded my Maserati Quattroporte for this S 550 - two very different cars from two very different sources. My first thought of the S Class was this is what flying in First Class is about. The Maserati was a sports luxury vehicle - plenty of sport and good luxury. The Mercedes is a Luxury Sport vehicle with a huge helping of luxury and a modicum of sport - that is until you plant your right foot. The Mercedes is plenty fast - especially from a 40 mph roll although it's 0--60 is mid 4 seconds! It's effortless power and no-fuss go-fast all the while cosseted in sumptuous leather and near bank vault quiet and security. Sure it leans into the corners - but at 4600 pounds it has a right to. Do I miss my QP? only when I catch my reflection in a window - no-one can match Pinninfarina's sleek design - but the Merc is pretty darn attractive in an understated way. I've only had it a few weeks but truly am enjoying the difference.

Almost exceptional
I've got a new S550 sedan. Mostly I'm pleased. However, the fit of the right passenger door wood alignment is off about a half inch. The drivers seat is hard and poorly cushioned. Ergonomically, the steering wheel heater switch is invisible and not displayed. Finally, the Eco mode won't stay off and resets to "on" every time the car is started. Picky, picky, but for $120 thousand, I expect things perfect.

horrible: expensive to maintain, not reliable
Too heavy in electronics, requiring expensive calibration like for a windshield replacement. continues to be a car requiring lots of expensive maintenance, parts not always available. I would never buy this car again. Great smooth ride, lots of power, but an expensive car to maintain. Not a great car and not worth the price compared to other cars in the market. Radiator hose blew, putting me at the side of the road needing a tow....repaired under warranty but on a car that was 3 years old and about 7,000 miles per year? Radiator overflow bottle had a manufacturing defect and leaked, replaced under warranty. Dash display tells you when to come in for service, always over $1,000 per visit. If all the electronics turned on, you will use more brakes as the car does it automatically, meaning more brake jobs that you pay for. Run flat tires give you about 8-10,000 miles, another hit on your wallet. This car is more expensive to maintain than my Aston Martin DB9, and has had more component failures taking you into the dealer much too frequently. Not a reliable car, even from new

This car is amazing
I love this vehicle. LOVE it! I've been a Mercedes fan for quite some time. I previously owned an S-550 from 2008. I loved that car too. I didn't want to give it up and held onto it forever. Finally decided technology was so far advanced that it was time to but something newer and this car does NOT disappoint. It's fast, comfortable, stylish and quite simply just badass. It's such a classy car. 100 stars. It's seriously that awesome.

$135,000.00 - it starting Falling Apart in year 4
I have owned nothing but Mercedes Benz since 1987. Every one of them (except my current Mercedes S550) lasted a long time and I had few problems with them. I recommended Mercedes to my family and friends. My current Mercedes Benz is a 2015 S550 and it has been quickly falling apart since Year 4 (2019). First it was minor things like the Seat and Door Upholstery wearing out (How does the Stitching on a Door come unraveled?). Then it became huge Engine, Suspension and Transmission problems costing tens of thousands of dollars. When I purchased the car I spent an additional $4,500.00 for a 7-year/75,000 mile Warranty. Because I had 75,000 miles in year 5 the $4,500.00 I spent was wasted. My first bad experience with Mercedes Benz was when I reported the Worn-out Seat and Door Stitching. This type of issue is something that takes place over time. Mercedes refused to repair the Worn-out Seat Area and Door Stitching because the 5-year Warranty ran out 2 months earlier. That was the beginning of a litany of problems with the rest of the car. My dealership has been fantastic and asked the Warranty Representative from Mercedes Benz to cover everything because a car like this should not be falling apart in 4 years. Unfortunately Mercedes Benz refused to take any responsibility for this Lemon! I will never recommend Mercedes Benz again. I have been a loyal customer for over 30 years and that loyalty has not been returned. Mercedes does not build cars as good as they used to - sad, but true. Eventually had to get rid of it.

Bucket list car
It eats tires and brakes, and will cost you more for gas as it is lucky to get 16mpg if you do not drive on freeway every day. Definitely would be the car if you did a lot of open road driving at higher speeds. Lots of power for passing even at high speeds. Quiet and great ride.

Mercedes S550 4matic vs Lexus LS460AWD
The Mercedes exceeds the Lexus in quality in all criteria. The Mercedes adaptive cruise is so much better than the Lexus. The Lexus is so slow to react. The brakes on the Lexus were super sensitive. So far this car is heaven. Ask me in a year if I still think so It has been a year and the S550 still impresses me. Having the cameras in front of the wheels and with the suspension continuously adjusting itself for any road irregularities is impressive. Passenger comfort is exceptional as 6'4" sized people are comfortable in front or back. This particular model has the backseat option of reclining seats, a great and comfortable option. The two critical elements are the poor gas mileage and the fact that both rear seatbelts froze. The seatbelts were covered by a lifetime warranty so no cost there. Mercedes service is pricey but your vehicle is kept in new car condition. I love this car, especially on long road trips.

What A Vehicle5 it is still an outstanding vehicle
This is the best car that I have ever owned. Beautiful exterior and interior. The car can drive itself, but I much prefer to have fun driving it myself. The handling is outstanding. Talk about the quiet inside. The only complaint that I have is the voice recognition. I have to repeat myself several times, but it may be me. Recently stopped by state trooper (not speeding) but for not displaying front license plate. I could not ruin the front grill with the plate. The car is a "head turner" and I get a lot of "thumbs-up" on the road. The only problem that I've had with this car was a software issue with the back up camera. Eventually the dealership worked out the problem and everything is okay now. Having driven it now for 6 months is a truly magnificent automobile. Still love the car! At times the voice recognition drives me crazy! I do not think that it is user friendly. I am very disappointed with the tires on this vehicle. They are extended Mobility tires or run-flats. I actually hate these tires and do not know why Mercedes puts them on the car. These are Goodyear tires on a 20 inch rim. I cannot wait to get rid of these tires and replace them with Michelin. I have already replaced the two front tires. One at 18,000 miles and the other at 20. There was still good tread on both of them. The first had a tear in the sidewall and the second one was a blowout. The car is in excellent riding car but I am sure that these tires detract from the ride. No more run-flat tires for me. The side walls are too stiff and thus do detract from what could be an excellent ride. I still love the car. There is still an occasional fight with the voice recognition on the command system. I absolutely still love this car. Unfortunately the two door coupe S-Class will be discontinued as of 2022. If I had the opportunity to buy another vehicle I would buy another one. I get compliments all the time about the look of the car. The performance is still outstanding. It is still an outstanding vehicle. It is a shame they have ceased making this model as of 2022. I would buy another one in an instant. There will be no other S-Class two-door coupes. They will continue the E-Class. Still love it and wish I could buy another one. Get compliments all the time !!!!

MB glitchy 7 speed spoils the ride
I was thrilled to find a CPO w 39k, 2016 S63 extended version. Wish I had paid more attention to the ride than the stars in my eyes. The trans is glitchy in either C or S mode. Feels like the clutch pack and trans are bad. 1 - 4 gears can be treacherous. Hard upshift, hard downshift, and an occasional complete drop out of gear... if you are lucky. If you are not, the vehicle starts bucking. Once over 4th, it drives perfectly. I had the nerve to demand MB do something. The adjusted the clutch pack to keep from fully engaging. So it drives like a sloth. Took it back in. They kept for a week, drove it twice for about 10 mins each. Three days later called to say there was nothing wrong. For the 18months I have owned it, it has been in for service 5 times. Not once did someone Lube the squeaky drivers door.

My FIRST MB... and S-class in particular.
I am from Europe. The poor section. Having 2016 S-class 350 d 4Matic (diesel), which is not available as a model selection here. So far 1,350 km on the odometer. The average fuel consumption is 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers. On a highway, I do get from 5.2 to 6.0 litters per 100 km. This is my first MB ever. I am amazed by the level of comfort it delivers. I have never experienced anything close to that. When I do enter my Benz, I do feel like being into an another world (of it's own). It is very relaxing to drive it. I consider this overall high level comfort and technology, which I guess is also offered in other cars, like Audi, Lexus and BMW, to be a masterpiece of modern car manufacturing. This car is a dream I have chased for over 20 years. Now locked this dream down. Feeling quite good and satisfied because of that. However, I do find the interactions with other humans/animals/plants, to bring more happiness in life. If this info is about to disappoint you, wait until you have the ability to own one yourself. Do not get me wrong. This is the most amazing vehicle I have ever drove or being driven at, still, somehow, it is just a machine and it does everything right, yet, closely interacting (especially) with my wife, playing with the kids and other people's dogs and cats, even just walking in the parks, makes me more happy...

Great ride
If you are all about comfort, this is your car. Difficult to find another choice in that price range with such a plethora of technology and comfort. Precisely, this is what may become a little overwhelming for some people. Having said that, do not expect this car to be "perfect". It is not. It has a lot of issues with software that may force you to get the car to the dealership for upgrades, but once the car is updated, it runs like no other. Tire wear is considerable with the factory installed Pirelli Flat Run. Ridiculous to be honest! At 5 thousand miles, dealership already suggested to replace front tires. Be prepared to spend in premium tires at least once every other year, sometimes less, depending on the brand and your driving habits. The dynamic cruise control (Distronic) feature is amazing, same the self-driving (under 30 mph) capability. Full isolation in its cabin, smooth ride, unparalleled audio quality, amazing response... and a price tag above 100K. But, hey, worthy in every penny.

Like a beautiful, high maintainence woman
This is a beautiful automobile and fun to drive (except confusing controls). However it is very unreliable. The media system didn't work when I bought it and it took a couple of months to get parts from Germany to fix it. The ordered parts didn't work so had to wait longer for more parts. Soon it wouldn't start---the almost new battery was defective! Windshield washer wouldn't put water out. Then the driver's vanity mirror simply broke off. The media system is a disaster! You need the manual in one hand to figure out how to select the media you want. It is insane that the CD player won't automatically change from one disk to the next. When listening to a multidisk audiobook, you have to recognize that it is playing the same disk over and have to manually switch to the next disk while driving. This process is hidden behind, "media", pull the knob downward, select "devices", use the knob to select the next disk (even though you may not remember what number the next disk is). Try doing this without taking your eyes off the road! Won't recognize newest iPod plug. But it looks great if you don't mind a $600 oil change. The only car I ever owned that was less reliable was a new Rolls-Royce Silver Spur.

S Class at 72,000 Miles and going strong
I have to admit that now I’ve just hit 72,000 I’m wondering if I should take it to 100k with the hopes that I won’t have to tap into my retirement to keep it going from costly repairs. I’ve read the reviews here but no one is saying they have a 2015 with this kind of mileage. For $100k+ you would think that I should be able to do it and not break the bank in repairs. Anyone have something to add that has had their ‘15 + year car I would love to hear about your experiences.
Second S Class - 4th MBZ
I think that MBZ put too many bells and whistles on this car. I am paranoid about having any kind of a fender bender as the electronics will surely be messed up. I had to have new breaks and rotors put on at less than 19,000 miles. The climate control makes a weird noise sometimes (noise comes from engine) and per the dealership it is normal. Car is built to be quiet and then there is a weird alien sound. Voice control has improved but still not perfect. Sadly Siri works better in responding to text messages, etc. Massage on the seats is silly, along with the embracing seats. I have never used the "perfume" dispenser.
Nothing can touch it for the price
It is the most unbelievably flawlessly driving automobile there is on the market today. The safety features on this car simply cannot be matched by any competitor currently being made today. However do not buy the car if you are intimidated by the number of features this car provide. It takes a very intelligent and experienced driver to take advantage of the available features. It is simply overwhelming.

Excellent car
Impressive car to say the least . All the bells and whistles you would expect from the flagship car of Mercedes . It drives like a dream . Im still getting used to all the devises in the car . The dream was a nightmare at first , but my salesman went through everything with me . Im still not 100 percent with knowing all of them , but I'm getting there . The Distronics feature is great . Put it in Cruise and it drives itself . The car slows down when your getting to close to a car on it's own . Now I know why they say the car goes through brakes . I love the run flats . There stable on the road and like the name says - They run flat meaning they will get you home or to a service station , but they wear out faster and the ride is not as good as regular tires . Ill stick with the run flats . They told me to stay away from curbs . The AMG rims that are on the car are more sensitive to curbs than other rims . I love the way the seat flaps hugs you when you turn left or right to keep you steady and comfortable . What else can I tell you ? The car is fast . Take it from someone who also owns a 2007 Corvette Zo6 . The handling of this over two and a half ton car is very impressive . Especially in sport mode . You know you are in something special when you get in the car and even more special when you drive it .
2016 Mercedes Benz S-550 Coupe Awesome car
This is Ultra luxury vehicle that sets apart the men from the boys even from the lower-class Mercedes in the fleet. Great driver, this car is made for two people not 4. Performance is very good (4.7 Liter V8 twin turbo 449 HP) for such a heavy car, fills like a Bentley Continental very smooth and the fact it's a 2 door makes it very rare. I live near Orlando Florida and have not seen another one. The lighting package is wonderful 8 colors setting, seats are the best in class 6-way message, power boosters that inflate on turns to keep the driver in place. these items are not found on vehicles at twice the price. Steering in very nice at very high speeds with minimal over steer. The only Con is this car drink a lot of gas.

Worst Car I have ever owned
Purchase the car in August 2014 with "all the bells and Whistles Barely drove it, was in the shop every 100 miles. Problems with computer, direct injection. Too many distractions, hard to work heat/ac. The cameras are distracting on the dash. Mercedes is buying the car back because it constantly breaks down and leaves me on the road. 2K miles on the car in 6 months and I drove mostly a loaner car. Not even sure I have a lux car, Ive been driving a loaner. Car was in the shop for a month, got it back and it broke down the next day, Mercedes hasn't even offered a loaner this time. Totally unreliable. If you look on this site you see dozens of them turned in with less than 5K miles.
The best new car purchase I've ever made!
I just purchased the 2015 S550 Coupe, and I must say that it is a pleasure to drive. Smooth, comfortable, luxurious and sporty. This is the best new car purchase I've ever made.

Complete disapointment
This is the worst premium car i have ever had. Seriously, it is almost comical that you set the expectations so high in such a "high end car" to be right back in the dealer every 2-3K miles and drive a loaner car. Be ready for constant check engine light on, break problems, ac problems, just to mention the most annoying and apparently commun troubles with the S-550. Last time that i took the car back for a break problem, dealer told me that MB is preparing a "permanent" solution for this situation due to the high frequency of this occurrence (rotors)... really?, at this point, one year after rolling out this model, they dont have a solution for a break fall out? Bummer!
Loved the car but angry w MBUSA
We have loved this car. Bought it as second owners and cared for it meticulously. When the engine starts there is no doubt about it, as it sounds just amazing and authoritative. Effortless power, gorgeous interior, great looking car and fun to drive. Replace the run flats with Michelin Sports and the ride has just been so much better. The problem - after being garaged for its entire existence of 56,000 miles, the leather on the upper dash started to pull back and buckle. Took it to our local MB dealer who was amazed, never seen it before, and after 2 days let us know that the repair would cost $5,200! MBUSA was no help. We have owned 6 MB's and this is a car that stickered for over $140k. Sad that the pride of craftmanship is not alive there. Sad about their lack of care.

My 12th Mercedes but my very first S 63 coupe
Great driving coupe! Love the exhaust note in the sports mode... So 6 months later I absolutely love this car! The High-End entertainment system with 24 speakers and a high-output amplifier will blow your hair back...LOL Seriously Mercedes outdid itself when they designed this car. The power, handling, and suspension system are just awesome. What a joy to drive. Very comfortable on long rides. I held off on purchasing this S coupe for a few years because of the price CPO Benz coupes were bringing, but after having it in my garage I wish now that I had bought the coupe sooner....live and learn I guess. If you can't afford an AMG go for the S 550 coupe. They have some of the same feelings as the S 63 AMG. The brakes on the AMG are a lot more expensive and the AMGs go through tires quicker than the S 550 coupes, but that's why we have Discount Tire isn't it!!

Loving the Plug-in Hybrid
So far great, the gas mileage is better than I could have expected and the overall experience with the car is fantastic. This is my first German car and there is something to be said for the MB fit and finish and the ride. What I am not loving is the USB ports are limited and do not have enough power to charge my phone, the cigaretter ligher is inside of an ash tray, really 2016 and we have no other 12 volt plug in but one in an ash tray!! So far I haven't figure out how to mount and charge my phone. The other negative about the plug-in hybrid is the trunk is a joke.

A loyal customer
That the car, as wonderful as it is, does not hold its value . Most people prefer a SUV and that has caused the book value to fall and not hold as it once did.
Perfection
Mine is the exclusive Edition 1. Dressed as an S63 coming only one way and It’s totally amazing. Amazing value, amazing build quality with a Designo interior, 10k headlamps, High End 3D Brumester Sound System. Every option MB offered and I had it tuned to put out almost 650 HP plus the fuel economy is so much better than before the tune. Best built car ever and I’ve owned CL 600’s and Bentley GT Speeds. If you are lucky enough to own one, consider yourself as being on top of the heap. I also did a few modifications such as Apple car play, Video in Motion and a glass screen over the IP. Since I’ve only put 3,500 miles on the car but it’s still perfection. I just ordered a 2021 S63 Coupe, to put in my collection. When people are sick of their soccer mom, non descript, mundane, crap box SUV’s, these will be collectibles, the others will be scrap and salvaged for parts.

you get what you pay for
After owning this car I cannot imagine owning anything better. My next choice would be the hybrid version (feeling a bit guilty at the pump).

The best there is!
Great car. Nothing to really complain about. I really wanted a red exterior, but none was offered. Now the 2018s are here and still no red exterior color! The COMMAND system is very complicated and to make matters worse, most of the Owner's Manual is in the car's on-board hard drive memory system!

Comfortable but boring
Definitely not fun to drive. Too quite and too comfortable and boring. Too numb and lacks driver engagement. Heavy so too slow to accelerate or stop. Too boaty on corners. It’s more for long distances cruising. Horrible on gas compared to other v8 German cars.

lots of problems
This is my 9th S sedan...........it's very tough to love. The tech stuff is virtually worthless while driving........most of it completely un needed or wanted......Hell it's hard to turn the radio stations, not kidding....completely unintuitive.......almost like German engineers are from another planet....thing that are worthwhile are the safety components which work well.......but are touted by MB as exclusive but are found on Ford Focus's.............We owned many MB's since 1980......the first being a 240 d.......but I've about had it.......the development money is going into the small Benz's I suppose.........maybe move on to Porsche.......really running out of high end brands. ( since your a car research group I'll list our current ownership Two Gwagons, a GlE (think that's what they call it) and the S)....Thanks Bb PS.....The cars have long lost their exclusiveness........without......why pay more?

Great car
Sensitive to tire puncture issues. It's a big heavy car but it has racy low wall tires on it. Update: since bought a 2017 Cabriolet S63 AMG (same car, just a convertible). Has been perfect now for 6 months.

Can’t believe the front grill is plastic
The plastic front grill is blistering and Mercedes-Benz won’t do anything about it
Safety
I also own a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Limited loaded especially with safety features. The Jeep in reverse is much better and safer than the Mercedes S550. There are NO warnings of oncoming cars or people when reversing. In reverse is important. If you back out of a parking lot there are no warnings. I have surround cameras and that is my only way to see if cars or people are behind the car when backing up. The Jeep actually YELLS at you with warning alarm and if very close the Jeep applies the breaks. The Mercedes does not. Poor planning. I have lots of chips on the windshield that I feel should never have happened. Poor windshield in my opinion

2015 S550e reliable and luxury Hybrid Sedan
We are a super fan of S class and we bought our 2015 S550e Hybrid as used car in 2018. We still think it is very reliable as our, 2006 S350 and 2005 S430 can last to 200-250K mileage.

Cloud-9 on wheels
In my 50+years as an engineer I have strived for perfection in everything I do and everything I own. This 10 year old second hand car constantly amazes me! It graciously whisks away from a stop, quietly, effortlessly, without the roar of 450 horses, or seemingly unending shuffling of gears of lesser entries. I am surrounded in perfection.

After owning 7 BMW 7 series, bought this car. This car is superior in every way. Ride, acceleration, attention to smallest detail, great mileage on highway reliable. I also own a SL550 and it has been great also just a different vehicle. I call it my comfortable corvette
