Used 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan Consumer Reviews
no more mb for me
just got rid of my e320 (bought 7/2000). similar problems as everyone (electronics failure, back window failure, cheap plastic issues, light bulb blowing frequently, windshield wipers replaced often, brake pads replaced often, transmission issues, bad dealership experience-no loaners if not purchased at the service dealership in boston, false alert from computer, etc, etc, etc
E 320 2000 with past problems
My E320 is a pleasure to drive while being very comfortable; it accelerates like a sporty car but has surprising fuel economy. The suspension is a bit on the hard side but that doesn't matter on good roads. I had some reliability issues in the first 2 years of possession, specialy with the A/C systme but since then, no big problem.

Expensive Fun
I purchased this E430 Sport with 32k miles. Overall its a great car with a few minor problems that are somewhat a headache. All repairs were covered under warranty. Digital instruments cluster replaced due to faulty LED's, dashboard cracked around the passenger air bags (very common problem)and window motor side replaced. This is our third Benz and I have come to realized that the Benz cars are not the trouble- free car everyone who doesnt own one think. But still a great German engineering at a substantial cost. But when you own a Benz, everytime you get in your car, your always getting inside a Benz.
Found a lemon
It's a beautiful car, no question. My problems have been astronomic. Replaced the tires at 25000 miles. Poor wear in city driving. At 28000 miles I started burning a liter of oil per month. By 30000 miles, it had increased to 3 liters per month. Have since had the engine rebuilt. Mercedes said a new engine would cost 30k but to rebuild it would only cost 10k. They opted for the cheaper alternative. Other than that the car is fun to drive. Not crazy about the cd player in the trunk. Handles the road and is very attractive.
Never again
I have had trouble with my E430 since day one. The passenger power window jammed at the down postion. At 20k miles the radio went dead. Dealer repaired it and it went dead once more at 21k miles. At 30k miles the power locks always lock back when opened. Nothin else went wrong untill 39k miles when the car didnt recognize none of my keys. I gave up due to the fact that the warranty was about to end and I went and bought an Jaguar S-type which is a wonderful car that gives me no problems unlike MBs E430.
