Miata #2!!!
I previously owned a 2002 Miata SE, 6 SPEED, manual transmission. It was my favorite of the 17 cars I had owned. Unfortunately, an unexpected snow storm and summer performance tires conspired to bring my baby to an early, and much lamented demise. . . Fast forward a few years, and the impending release of the 2016 Miata was creating a lot of media buzz in the automobile world. . . I never really expected to own another Miata, much less a new 2016 (We have two teenage sons, and besides, it was my wife's turn to get a new car), but circumstances arose that made it a possibility, then a reality! I am now the owner of 2016 Meteor Gray Club edition Miata MX-5, 6 speed manual transmission! I am ecstatic! The color is fantastic, the seats easily accommodate my 6'2" 230 pound frame! I have plenty of leg room. The top is a breeze, taking 3-5 seconds, up or down. It stows easily and neatly, with no need for a cover! The stereo (Bose) is quite good, and syncs up with my ipod via Bluetooth flawlessly. Even at 85 mph on the highway, is crisp and clear. the steering, as expected, is fantastic, carving the corners like a slot car! Shifting the manual transmission is a joy, and the clutch is amazingly light and easy, so driving in city traffic isn't much of a chore. . . the LED headlights and taillights are both bright, and beautiful! Such a cool looking car! . . . And like an earlier reviewer, I too live in Jacksonville, NC. However, I bought my Miata in Wilmington, NC. The dealer there was much easier to work with. . . Anyway, bottom line is, this is an amazing car, and of you enjoy driving a DRIVER'S CAR, look no further. =)

Best car I have owned!!!!!!
Briefly I have owned a 2000 Miata Club... I couldn't forget that "fun" experience with this car so I traded in my 2016 Camaro SS and sold my 2002 BMW M3 and got a Soul Red 17 Miata club (non BBS/Brembo pck)... i am in absolute love with this car. Yes, it's cramped inside but everything is laid out well, infotainment system is easy to use and nothing looks tacky or ugly in the cabin. Seats can be a bit uncomfortable and the cargo space is pretty much absent. But that's not why you drive this car... you drive this car because you enjoy driving. And with the top town that can be operated within 5 seconds!!!! It's a pure pleasure to be able to drive as enthusiastically and still stay within speed limit and stay out of trouble. You can take any corner anytime with full intention, the more you drive this car the more you will fall in love with.. i recommend installing anti-roll bars for reducing notorious body roll and lower the car a bit for better handling (and looks!) Those are the only 2 mods I think will transform this car into a better handling car.

You get everything you expect from a small roadste
This is the second MX-5 ND I purchased in 2016. The first one I purchased was the Sport trim level. I thought the Sport trim had everything I needed, and for the most part that's a true statement. However its biggest Achilles heel was its cloth seats. They just didn't offer enough support for my wife and I and in the end it was it's downfall. I traded it in for a Honda and to make a long story short, 40 days after I purchased it I was rear ended and the car was totalled. I decided that I really missed my MX-5 so I gave it another chance, but this time I bought the GT trim because of it's leather seats. The seats feel like they sit you a little higher and the bolstering on the cushion and backrest is far superior to the cloth seats. Plus the heated seats are amazing, with three settings. All the added features make a huge difference, giving the car a more luxurious feel ... From the auto dimming rear view mirror and high beams, the blind spot monitoring, the additional USB port, the upgraded Bose speakers and the extra speakers (which includes a sub woofer), the integrated GPS, the chrome plated control knobs, the nicer 17" alloy rims ... The GT trim is the way to go. Having said that, no matter what trim level suits you best, this car is just a blast to drive because of it's light weight and perfect 50/50 weight balance. It turns like it's on rails. It has been designed to have some body roll, but once it hits it's travel limit it's solidly planted. This is a momentum car, where you don't have to let off the gas when turning. It's a "slow car fast" vehicle, meaning that you feel like you are speeding when you are within the speed limit. It's so much fun to drive at 65 MPH and you don't need to be doing 100 MPH to feel like you are going fast. Of course it's small and there are traded offs if you decide to buy it (the trunk is small, there is limited cabin storage space, the cup holders are in an awkward spot, it's harder to get in and out of the vehicle, etc), so you have to make sure you consider your needs before buying it. I use this car as my daily driver and for me it's a perfect vehicle for that, especially since I get a combined average of 35 MPG, but I also have a truck as a second vehicle. If you are looking for a fun sports car that handles like nothing else, is reliable, efficient, relatively inexpensive to own and operate, and stylish, I can't recommend this vehicle enough .... It's just that amazing. But this vehicle isn't for everyone, and if I could only have one vehicle, I'm not so sure I would have purchased it if my situation was different.

I've been graced to drive/own multiple 2-Seat sports cars in my lifetime. Back in 1987 my first car my dad gave to drive was a 1969 Austin-Healey Sprite. It was fun to drive but extremely un-reliable and finicky. It left my behind stranded several times, once I was over an hour away from home (Broken throttle cable). When the clutch finally went out in it my dad said that was the final straw and we had to salvage it. My first Mazda MX-5 Miata experience was driving a used 1995 model back in 2002. It had sport suspension (sport springs/shocks), chrome rollover hoops behind the seats, aftermarket wheels/tires. It was a hoot to test-drive but was sold before I could purchase it. Fast forward to Black Friday 2015 I finally purchased my first MX-5, a 2016 Sport 6-speed. I was the first to own one in my town I live in now, Jacksonville, N.C. It was almost 4mos before I finally spotted another 2016 MX-5 in town, and now there is about 5 more as of June 2016. Anyway - it's a blast to drive, handles pretty well even though I do plan on purchasing lowerings springs or coilovers for it in the future, gets pretty decent gas milage, the standard sound system still sounds amazing and even has speakers mounted inside the headrests. I love the L.E.D. headlights and taillights, and I get alot of looks from people even from people in alot more expensive cars than my Miata. If You have never driven one I suggest You do, it's an experience you'll never forget, I'm blessed enough to have one and as my daily driver at that. Ya'll have a nice day... UPDATE 12/7/2016 After having this MX-5 for over a year now all I can say is that's it's still just as fun, reliable, fuel efficient as it's been since day one. Again, I get constant looks/stares from other drivers when I'm in My MX-5 I even get complete strangers giving Me a thumbs up or asking "What kinda car is that?" or "That thing is a Mazda?"...LOL I've replaced the factory 16" wheels with aftermarket 17"x7" chromium black XXR530 wheels and look to purchase a RACING BEAT aftermarket exhaust system and CORKSPORT lowering springs in the future...#ZOOMZOOM UPDATE 12/8/2017 Well it's been 2yrs now I've owned my 2016 Mazda MX-5 (Purchased it on Black Friday 2015) All I can say is it's been no regrets whatsoever. The only operating costs have been fuel (of course), oil changes, and a full set of new tires (P205 Fronts, P215 Rears). Not to mention the $30-$50 Towards Premium Brand Spray Wax/Detail Spray but it's worth it to keep the beautiful paint finish looking brand new. I live for sunny days to cruise with the top down and the factory stereo (which still sounds amazing even though it's not the extra-cost BOSE system). This car makes basic trips to the store, gym, work really fun!!! UPDATE 12/8/2019 This past Black Friday marked my 4th year of ownership, time sure flies by!!! 2015's Black Friday seems like yesterday but alas, it was four years ago already. I got a scheduled oil change done the other day and the only certified Mazda technician that works on my car notice that after changing the oil that my driver's side rear tire was going to be needing to be replaced soon. I didn't believe it when the service writer told me that but he allowed back into the shop area and showed me the worn tire. It's crazy, I purchased both rear tires not even 6 months ago and yet the driver's side tire was way more worn than the passenger side tire. I immediately logged onto the internet and ordered a new tire from tirerack.com once I got back home. Update 6/9/2020 I Have Had a Set of D2 Coilovers Installed To Get Rid of The Ugly Wheel Gap (Especially Up Front) and a A.E.M. Cold Air Intake. The Usual Oil Changes, Tires, and Direct Injection Cleaning Have Also Been Performed. Also, I Finally Had To Install Rear Brake Rotors and Pads (The Factory One Finally Wore Out After 4+ yrs)...

Fun to Drive, But More to Consider in Buying
It's a fun car to drive. I'm 5' 10" and if you are taller than me, this probably isn't the car for you. It's definitely tight quarters, which is OK when the top is down, but feels a little claustrophobic with the top up. I'm still trying to learn how to manage the command control selections. It isn't logical compared to our Honda or Hyundai. The technology is pretty basic when compared with other cars we have owned in recent years. But if you are looking purely for a sports car that is fun to drive when the top is down, this is probably it. Just be aware of the limitations in the above mentioned areas and be sure to take one out for a test drive and only after you have finished driving, try to negotiate the instrument cluster and command control.
