A Great Fun Ride & Great MPG's

I purchased the manual Sport and it's Great in almost every way. A bit more interior storage would be nice but other than that, it's a car you will WANT to drive. It's fun, handles very well, and gets looks everywhere I go. The 6 speed manual is wonderful. One of the very best I've ever driven. I don't really push it and am a conservative driver and the MPG's are fantastic. Average 28.5 in town and over 40 MPG on Highway if you keep it under 65 MPH. Recent interstate highway trip of over 100 miles on rolling terrain got 42.5 MPG !! Great with the top down but loud cabin at interstate speeds with top up. Would recommend this car to anyone who wants a fun to drive, sporty convertible that gets great MPG's and makes you feel happy every time you get behind the wheel. ----- It's been a year since I purchased this car and although I only drive it 200 - 300 miles a month it still is a great car. Still wish it had more easy to get to storage but that being said I would buy it again. Only small problem is that the convertible top does not pop up as much as when it was new which makes it a little harder to get a grip to raise from the inside while seated. ZOOM ZOOM. (2 1/2 year update) At 5000 miles I'm still glad I purchased this car. Only problem is a squeaky drivers seat when I get in and out. Still fun to drive and great gas mileage. Still a fun to drive car with no problems at 3 years. No regrets. Would buy again. 4 years and only 8000 miles. The only thing I need to add is a problem with the cloth roof. There is excessive wear in 4 spots on the cloth where it rubs against a seam when the roof is down. I checked a couple of other 2016 MX 5's and they have the same problem developing. With only 8000 miles you shouldn't expect that! I have placed a couple pieces of black tape on the spots to help but I'd bet the cloth roof may have a problem in the future. No recall but from what I see there should be! Over 7 years old and only 13,000 miles. Still a Great car but wish it had a dash glove box. Box between the seats is awkward to use especially if you have a drink in the holder. Still average 36+ MPG's and low 40's on interstate trips. Not an interstate highway car but fantastic in town and on back roads.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata incredibly fun to drive. The Grand Touring trim level is nicely equipped with current technology. However, the absence of a rearview backup camera is a glaring oversight. Sitting low with high headrests, rollover bars, and windscreen, it is virtually impossible to see if anything is behind the vehicle. The cross-traffic alert system helps. But, having a visual of any obstacles (without having to put down the convertible top), would allow far more confidence when backing up.

Looking for something that will put a smile on your face? Want something to tear up the back roads on a nice sunny day? Look no further. This car will bring lots of joy, but keep you out of trouble. The GT package delivers great tech for the price if you want to make this your daily driver. The blind spot is very useful with the top up. The moving LED headlights are amazing for night driving. Let's not forget something I don't think I could live without, heated seats. These things are amazing on a slightly chilly day with the top down. Yes it's not a pratical car, but that's not the reason why you buy this. You buy this to enjoy the driving experience. The smile has not faded, nor will it. -UPDATE- Still the best.

I recently purchased a slightly used (1700 miles) MX-5 GT in Soul Red with black leather. I have owned 40+ cars in my life and the Miatas and Honda S2000s I've owned have been the most fun. The MX-5 is beautiful to look at and a hoot to drive, even with the automatic. It's hard to imagine a more fun car to drive. Before purchasing it I test drove a 2009 Porsche Cayman S and can honestly say I like driving the Miata more. It's like an eager puppy wanting you to play with it all the time. The Porsche is fairly pedestrian as were my 4 S2000s until you find a curvy road or nail the accelerator whereas the Mazda is fun at any speed on any road. This is my 3rd Miata and expect it to be as reliable as the others. I'm 6' and 210lbs. and I fit fine. It is more comfortable than all the aforementioned cars...and I'm 66 years old. If your thinking of buying a sports car you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't test drive this car. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Update 11/2/18: All is great with my MX-5. Mileage has improved to 32.5 and I've had no mechanical issues. My only complaint is the the paint on the hood chips easily. This has been an issue on the Miata forums. The thin paint coupled with the low, sloping hood are to blame.

I hit 15,000 in February '17 and I still really like it. I added NAV, which is very useful in my Miata trips with the Club. I'm still getting great fuel milage of around 33 to 34 on average. Tires that came on the car are still handling great. I also get a lot of looks too, wherever I go. Great fun in a small package, I told someone that, "you could buy a Vette, but for half the money or more you still have just of much fun with a ND!" I can't wait for a real track test this summer at the Nation Corvette Museum Track this summer, come join the fun! I just got my MX-5 on Monday (9.28.15) and I am just ecstatic about it. For the money, it just can't be beat. I got the Club edition mainly because it was available (very hard to find one at all in my area) but the Ceramic color, black side mirrors, and spoilers and gray wheels was the kicker for me. Sure the ride is a little bumpier but it will be "bomb" on track days. There are a few things I would change on the next model, like a flat bottom steering wheel (which you can buy an aftermarket one) and padding for your right knee against the the console, the CX-5 has it. The car can go, as in fast. I can't believe what they did under the hood. It is really a blast! But what this car does best...is going around corners...it can handle anything. I am 6'3" and 215 and I still fit like a glove. I don't think anyone bigger can get in or out. I seats (with red stitching) are very comfortable also. I got them adjusted all the way back and feels great. I am getting 27.5 mpg right now around the city and of course showing it off, I'm hitting the pedal...a lot. As of March 2016, I am getting over 35mpg on the hwy., using premium gas and I have gotten as much as 38mpg. 5000 mile update: I had my first oil change, I went with synthetic oil since that is what came with the vehicle, I think this is the way to go in the long run. I am getting so many looks and people coming up to the car and saying how much they like it. I never had that happen to me before. I think I have something special. I just love it. Zoom Zoom!
