World's best car EVER made
I needed something that would take me 40 miles to school and back 3 times out of the week. I fill up once a week. Gas is amazing! The driving never gets old or tire some. I love all four cup holders I can put stuff everywhere. I has a bigger trunk space than you would think. Its also very roomy on the inside... let's just say my 90 pound lab can fit in it I'm sure anyone can. The car speeds up quickly when shifting. Zoom zoom this is the perfect car ever made
A worthy successor to my 93 Miata
I really wasn't planning to buy new, but with more than a $9,000 discount off sticker, how could I pass up a new Miata. Great car! I miss the go-cart feel and exhaust noise of the 93, but the ride is much more comfortable. Definitely leans more in corners. I'll be adding RX8 sway bars soon. Looking forward to many happy years in my new Miata.

Best Bang for the Buck.
In my opinion, when you compare this car to other similar "2 seaters", you will find that the MX-5 is the overall better value for the long haul. Given the fact that this cars reliability and "fun to drive" factor is what really matters it's hard to beat the basic sport, with the power top. In this tight economy, you don't have to sacrifice basic zoom-zoom bliss.
Near Perfection
This is my first true sports car and have to say it's a blast to drive. Besides a small lack in power it's the perfect sports car. The stock handling and braking are superb. Fuel economy is excellent. Short gear ratios make for spirited acceleration when up to speed. Minor modifications are all that are needed to turn this thing into a track car. I took a 3k mile road trip and was still smiling when I got home. Those over 6' will have a hard time getting comfortable in this car.
just better over the years
We have a 1993 Mazda which is fun to drive and has been dependable and mostly bulletproof for years. The refinement of the 2008, purchased new in 2009,is very impressive. The quick drop convertible top is just wonderful for changing moods and fun factors.
The perfect convertible
Great car, needs only two more inches of leg room, not enough to fully extend the arms. Quality is on par with my old Audi and better that the Mercedes 350SLK I recently sold. Good but not great value for money, I bought it for the hard top which is a great compromise. The only issue is the short gearing which might bother some, at 75 MPH, the engine is running at over 3,500 RPM which might be bothersome but I have gotten used to it. Great looking car for reasonable money, the only other car that are this much fun will easily cost an extra 20-30,000 dollar. The 6 speed manual transmission is a bit notchy, it has improved slightly with time, and the gas mileage is quite reasonable.
Most fun you can have on 4 wheels
Fun, fun, fun. The most fun car I have driven. Tested the 350Z, BMW, Altima, Accord, this is the best. And affordable! It is a 3rd car in the family with a truck and a sedan, so we could get away with a 2 seater. If you buy it it will make you smile, I keep looking for reasons to drive
Most fun you can have on 4 wheels
I only have it for 100 miles, but I have been looking for reasons to get behind the wheeil. I researched many cars, Accord, Altima, BMW, 350Z and this is by far the most fun and best value.
The Car Puts a Smile on My Face!
I am a new owner and am very pleased. The power retractable hard top is the perfect way to own a convertible, as others I've had with soft tops have leaked during rains. My car has performance upgrades that were the selling point for me.

Slow car fast
I love my 08 grand touring.. it’s fun because you can’t go fast enough to get in trouble but fast enough to put a smile on my face.
I want to like this car, but
I really want to like this car, but I don't. Interior design is poor: window switches in a bad spot & centre console won't hold anything by design. The door cupholder bangs knees, the centre ones make centre console useless and prevents shifting properly! Seatbelt connect height is not adjustable. No spare tire means this is a suburbanite-with-a-cellphone ride. Can't go anywhere interesting without a usable spare and MAZDA is NOT helpful! Also, the Bose stereo is awful. Speakers rattle and vibrate. No aux jack. When Mazda tells you Mp3 compatible, they mean you can play a disc in Mp3 format. Even Hyundai has this stuff figured out. Mazda doesn't care, they don't have to.
Fun but noisy
This is definitely one of the funnest cars I have ever had. With that said it is also the noisiest car I have ever owned. Lots of wind noise when the top is up and the more you drive it the more it seems to develop new rattles. (mainly in the dash) Anyone approaching six feet tall will not be comfortable in this car! Fun yes....would I buy this car again. No!
Nice entry roadster
Like most, I was looking for an affordable side piece. My wants were fun, 6M, inexpensive, reliability and fun factor. In some ways I got more then I excepted. Hard top is great if your not tracking it. Leather, Bose system, and heated seats are nice options. It handles great. Has adequate power, and can be a daily driver. Bottom line is I look for every excuse to drive it and even commute 45 mins each way in heavy traffic whenever weather allows. Putting the hard top down is a pleasure. It does leave me wanting a little more power. It’s a go cart, but solid, and is comfortable inside, but I’m curious if a slightly bigger and more powerful car is the next step. For $8500 w/ 90k, it’s a cheap, no hassle, straight forward roadster that you want to drive, but sometimes you want a little more. I know it can be modded, but that’s not my thing. It can likely a 50-100 HP upgrade. Stock, it’s more of a backroads and highway cruiser. I’m happy, but plan the move up in class in a few years, and check out the newer Miatas.

High Priced Tin Can.
My back can't handle much of this car. After an hour or so I believe I'd feel better if I was on a medieval torture rack. Would that it took that long to get tired of the racket this car makes. Took it in for service to deal with the rattle, squeak, and squeal from the dash. The service people were really nice but unfortunately the problem is still there. So if you like paying 20,000 for a tin can this is the car for you.
It's a Cutie!
Bought the car in late February in Michigan-couldn't really drive it until late March. It was torture to wait! I found out how great it handled from having to dodge all the potholes in the roads coming off of a hard winter. After years with a boring automatic, I can finally shift! Downshifting is one of my favorite things to do while in this car. I bought the dark gray hardtop. I didn't need a showier color such as red. That would've been overkill. The car alone says it all. It is understated yet boisterous. I'm driving to West Virginia in a week and can't wait to get on those winding mountain roads and see just what it can do.
Great little GoKart
I bought this car as a summer toy and alternative commuter vehicle instead of my gas guzzling SUV. I had also considered the Pontiac Solstice, but found the level of fit, finish and refinement greater in the MX-5. It's obvious that improvements in the 19 years of production put the MX-5 as the front runner of affordable roadsters. It doesn't have the performance of a Porsche Boxster, or the panache of a BMW Z4, but at less than half the price, who cares! Popping the top down in 3 seconds for the drive home on a sunny day is priceless.
The Right Choice
We purchased the our Hunter Green PRHT new in March 2009 and we could not be happier. The exterior design is exciting, the interior is clean but not overwhelming and the driving characteristics are just plain fun. Handling is precise and she can turn on a dime and acceleration for a vehicle this size is more than adequate.
A Motorcycle with doors.
Excellent handling as it corners better than anything I have driven. Good acceleration, great mileage/design, and fun to drive! Insuring this sports car is an unexpected bargain! What more could you ask for?
2008 Touring Hardtop 6 speed
I wanted a convertible & found MX5 has the package deal. Discount off MSRP was very attractive too. Fit me well (5'4"). There are after markets that sell for faster speed & other accessories...
My fun car
What a lot of fun to drive. It handles like it's on rails and the mileage, even when driven hard is better than 25 miles per gallon. I hope to own this for several years!

Zoom-zoom? You'd better believe it!
The pre-upgrade MX-5 (NC) does not have the forged crankshaft and other tweaks--including revised suspension--that were installed on its later NC (smiley faced) brothers and sisters... but it still offers loads of smiles per mile. I'm always eager to reacquaint myself with the little tear about every Spring--and am invariably sad when I have to "put it to bed" in the Fall.

Sports car Nirvana
I've had my 2008 Special edition for 4 years. It's been very reliable, fantastic handling and easy to look at. I've added a performance exhaust, cold air intake, chrome radiator over flow, chrome power steering overflow, performance light weight flywheel and clutch kit.
Best 2 seater to own and drive
2.0L engine is flawless and gives excellent mileage. Retractable hardtop up and down in 12 seconds, and requires no additional maintenance like the soft top. Paddle shifters in the manual mode makes the auto transmission drive closely to the stick shift. Easy maintenance very economical.

What Fun
Came from a Toyota Prius getting 45 mpg. I miss that, the climate control, the outside temp. display, and the bluetooth. But I wouldn't trade back! Nothing beats a great handling, manual transmission little car like this for a smiling commute. And, I haven't yet dropped the top!
Best sports car
WE drive this car every day. My 2015 Nissan sets in the garage.. The most fun to drive auto, so far and I've had plenty.. Live in the mountains and its a blast. Hugs the road like nothing I ever had. I like this car so much, looking to upgrade to at 2011/2012
