Best Fun Factor on 4 wheels - 2006 Miata

These cars are so awesome. Fun, fun, fun, and reliable as can be. Cheap to fill up (small tank). Don't buy one of these if envious stares annoy you. Don't buy one of these if you'd much prefer to spend a lot of money on a true roadster. Don't buy one of these if you are on a first name basis with you auto mechanic and prefer to stay that way. I don't have the top of the line 'leather' version of the car, but slapped on some upgraded 17" alloy wheels, and great tires ( Michelin Pilot Super Sport), and handling actually improves dramatically - didn't think that was possible.

I've wanted one since 1990, but lived in Brooklyn. Got a copper red 5 speed Touring with 6-cd changer after I moved to SC. This is the most fun I've ever had in a car. Corners great, accelerates well, I never get tired of driving it. With the top down, it is so good I'd rate it an 11 if that was an option. With the top up, your view out the back is limited, and difficult to see behind and blind spot. That is not a problem with the top down. After 3 months I still love it as much as the first time. Looks great, feels great, drives great, sounds great. BUY THIS CAR!

I bought this car last Thanksgiving from Florida (Im in Houston, TX). Honesty, I was quite disappointed the moment I saw it (I owned 99 miata 5-spd before) because some dings and paint on steering wheel (I dont know what that is for). idle rpm was too high (~1200). Dealer on ebay said it was a well maintained car. Some small plastic body parts missing (it's not expensive from dealer). After I changed all fluids, oil and filters the second day. The idle rpm back to 750. The driving of this machine is still incredible in handling and smooth acceleration. It gets more power than NB. 60 mph is about 2800 rpm. 70 mph is about 3300 rpm. The little one is extremely reliable. I have put 17000 miles on the clock. Not a single problem. Top down noise reduces a lot in this generation. Super easy and fast to operate the soft top. Im so happy to have this car.

Just Plain Fun!

If you want a car that's just plain fun, you can't beat the MX-5. Wife and I chose the copper red Touring model with black cloth interior. The car is gorgeous, fit is perfect. As for performance, the 5 speed manual is quick and smooth, flawless. While not exactly fast, the car is very quick. The steering is extremely responsive. Brakes stop the vehicle on a dime. The interior, while snug, imparts the sensation of a cockpit. All controls are at your fingertips just inches away. The top is very well designed and easy to use. I would not recommend the vehicle for primary transportation, but if you're looking for a sensational, affordable second, this is it. This car is a blast.

I recently sold a 2013 Camaro SS with a 6 speed stick. Even though I loved the car I found it spent most of the time in the garage. Wife wanted a convertible and talked me into buying this 2006 Mazda MX-6 Miata automatic with 23000 miles. Huge difference between the Camaro and the Mazda. I have to admit the Mazda is a blast to drive and handles superbly. The car is hard to drive without having a smile on your face. The 160hp engine is peppy and I keep wishing I had gotten the 5 or 6 speed manual as I think I’d enjoy it much more. My wife is happy with the automatic. I also keep thinking how much more I would enjoy it if it had about 50 more hp. As far as fun factor the car is hard to beat. The cabin seems very noisy and I do not believe the car would be good for very long road trips. For a weekend fun car it is fantastic.
