Used 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata Consumer Reviews
Best car I've owned so far.
This is the most amazing car I've ever owned. It is fun to drive, looks great, and is just the right size. I'll be the first to admit that they could have made the car slightly longer and given us a little more leg room and a slightly bigger trunk. However, aside from minor things, this car is just about perfect. I think the car is powerful enough to deliver great performance. It is a little engine, debatably under-powered, but it does pack a great punch. Unfortunately you have to rev the engine pretty high to get that power.
1999 Red Miata
This is the best built, tightest car I have owned. I am very glad I went with the Gen II ('99 and later) Miata for the more horsepower and better lines/style. It has been extremely reliable just like the reviews said. It is fun to drive. Used to own a Gen II RX7. This car may not be as fast, but is better built, handles better, and drives like a classic sports car.

A very fun car
I have had this car for 7 years and absolutely love it! The car is nimble and incredibly responsive-the car takes curves wonderfully. The top is easy to lower - I have taken the top down while sitting at a long red light. Unlatch and drop it behind you. The gas mileage is good. I get up to 33 mph on highway driving. It is a roadster and sounds/feels like one. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a fun, no frills car that is intended for driving enjoyment. When I bought it, the differences between the Miata and the (then) Z3 didn't justify the $18K difference in price. I am glad I went with the Miata. Fully loaded with all options it was only $24K,
I LOVE my Miata even after ...
All these years. My husband brought the 10th anniversary Miata home. I fell in love immediately. I still get a thrill driving it. I have never needed any maintenance other than tires and oil changes. I will keep this car forever.
I love this little car!
My next car will have to be a 4-seater, so I don't want my Miata to ever wear out! I'm tall at 6'-1", but I like this car and don't feel cramped inside. I don't drive long distances, though. The gearing tends to make for high engine revs when you're on the interstate - by my experience, in excess of 3700 rpm's at 65. Fit and finish is as good as you have come to expect in a Japanese car. Engine compartment is well laid out, making routine service easy. It won't win many stop light drag races, but over all a very high-quality product and a pleasure to drive.
