THE $20000 BEAST
I BOUGHT THIS BEAUTIFUL CAR IN DECEMBER AND LET ME TELL YOU IT IS THE BEST CAR ALL AROUND THAT I HAVE BOUGHT. PAYING IT MONTHLY IS NO PROBLEM BECAUSE THE PAYMENTS ARE LOW AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM PAYING SOMETHING AS WORTHY AS THIS. IF YOU LIKE THE HEART OF A SPORTS CAR WITH TREMENDOUS POTENTIAL GET THIS. BY POTENTIAL I MEAN THIS, THIS CAR HAS 170HP IT WAS TESTED TO DO 15.3 WITH THE SAME TURBO AS AN ECLIPSE. NOW THE ECLIPSE DOES 15.2 YET IT HAS 220HP AND IS BOOSTING 12-14 STOCK, THE SPEED IS ONLY BOOSTING 6LBS.
Makin' Double-Takes
This car's performance is unbelievable. I got my a few days ago and I'm still on cloud 9. All my friends wanna drive it and have gotten tons of compliments as well. I park it in the biggest lot in town and every day there's always a group of 4 or 5 people checkin' out. I love the attention the car brings because it's so rare. That's one of the big reasons why I got it. I like to be unique and get a car I know is almost one of a kind. Everyone that checks the car out is amazed at all the standard features. Yet with all the add-on's it's still a fairly practical car with it's roomy back seat that could sit 3 and a huge truck.

The Spice of Life
Bought it in Feb 2003 and have about 5000 miles on it. I've got to tell you, it's the only thing that gets me through the work day (hope my girl doesn't read this). No one else offers a better package of performace and looks. While some other cars may be faster, my 2nd choice was a WRX, it takes at least $4-5Gs to get the look up to par. And my baby is no slouch either. Got to say the best victory was over a Porsche Carrera... he dusted me off the line, but I cought up by 85 mph and started the pass at 100... you should've seen the look on his face! If you haven't driven one, do so before you buy anything else.
MazdaSpeed Protege
I have had my car for about three weeks now and I absolutely love it!! You just press on the gas and it goes. I love the interior and the system rocks. Now I just have to buy a turbo timer so I don't have to wait 30 seconds before I turn it off.

Great Drivers Car
Owned my MPS for roughly three weeks, and it is an absolute blast to drive. It is quicker than most cars excluding SRT-4, WRX, EVO, etc. but it has handled every corner I have thrown at it with ease so far. No sliding, schreeching, or unpredicted behavior. This is a car for the person who wants to go fast everywhere, not just light to light. I would recommend the SRT-4 if you just want 0-60 at the same price.
The chicanes are now in season!
After all my indecision between which sport compact to buy, I have to say that once I drove the MSP, it was over. I had fallen in love. I also had a great ex-racer sales rep. that let me take it through its paces on the twisty roads nearby. The MSP was the model of stability, even as I pressed it into a hard drift in a decreasing-radius left hander. I have now raced this car in SCCA events three times; beating out Lexus IS300 after Nissan Spec V after Ford Focus SVT. With some Kumho race tires and some small mods, I plan on taking my Mazdaspeed to SCCA Stock-Class Nationals!
Hit the Twisties
The induvidual pieces of this vehicle are not overwhelming, but when put together, this vehicle is incredible to drive. The steering feel, and complete balance and composure through the twisties brings the biggest grin on my face. And what a deal. At a bit over 20k this car kicks ass. I'll leave an rsx, 330i, is300, in my dust on straits, and loose a srt-4, and wrx behind in the twisties. I only wish I didn't live so close to some of the best driving roads in the country...my front tires are going quickly (love the warranty).
Funnest Car EVER!
I picked up my Mazdaspeed about two years ago and I simply cannot sing enough praises for it! It is so fun to drive I actually look forward to my commute. Fast, responsive, and corners like its on rails. I've driven several exotic cars (Ferraris & Porsches), but I'd take my Mazdaspeed over them any day! The car is absolutely fantastic! Best decision I ever made.
Looks Great, Runs okay, doesnt last long
Was a very exciting car to have at first. Nice little 2.0 turbo, was quick, fun to drive and didn't do too horribly on gas. Then the recall notices came in and everything starting to fall apart, from replaced motor, turbo, oil leaks, ac not working and countless of letters in the mails for recall issues. Thank god for warranty but it was a hassle to have something major go wrong every few months. Turbo literally replaced 3 times. Also one of the cylinders went bad twice. It ran rich and made fuel economy drop. Sold it in 05 and the kid who bought it pretty much destroyed it. It's a decent car if you can take care of it. You want to drive it fast, but if you'll end up in the shop
Revolutionary driving saloon.
Our Mazzy was my wife's car (purchased used) from 29,000-56,000 miles and there has not once been an issue of any negative sort, only smiles and excitement. We've driven the car across the entire continental states and can only commend its taut responses, thorough feel and a connection with pure motoring passion. Though I do believe that the entire turbo unit applied to this MZR engine is a bit rubbish. The car seems to still move quite efficiently but the turbo has long since expired in its duties. :-( Currently there is the need for moderate powertrain 'make-over' including the rebuild of said turbo system, but otherwise an utterly reliable, efficient and fun source of transportation!
Mazda Promformance
I farbrikate cars for a livin and Mazdas are some of the cheapest proformance cars out there. If it is the Miata to the Rx-8(which is nice)I found the Mazdaspeed Protege is one of the nicest compact proformance car for your money. The RX-8 may be better and roomy for a 4dr. Coupe????? But the Protege is a lot cheaper (over 7,000)I fabracated 7 Mazdas know and i think there fine the way they are. The only thin that bothers me is that ford makes them. I am a Chevy man not a wussy Ford guy with a f-150 Lightning. The protege has a suprisinly good handling and great aceleration. If u read my review please go with the MazdaSpeed Protege or the RX-8.
This car kicks ass!!!!!!
I just bought this car about a week ago. This is without a doubt the best purchase that I have made in my life! The handling is awesome! What's also cool is that I got the car for $18,200 out the door (the 2003.5 just came out). This car is well worth the money. With the amount of money that I had to spend, I was either going to get a Civic SI or the Mazdaspeed. I'm very happy with the choice that I made.
