CX-90 competes with prestige brands? You betcha!
Purchased the Turbo S Premium model -- 340 HP. I read dozens of professional reviews before test driving locally and buying. Brand new vehicle so you may have to expand your search away from home to find the model / trim that you want. I got the version with captain's chairs in 2nd and 3rd row so mine seats 6. Bench seat also available if you prefer that. Pros: great acceleration with top notch handling and comfortable ride. Soaks up bumps well. Very quiet on highway. Great Bose stereo. I have to disagree with many of the professional reviewers -- I like the scroll wheel interface rather than touch screen -- less distracting. Bought a brand new 2021 Audi Q7 and got rid of it after a year -- great vehicle but I hated the touch screen interface -- Audi not intuitive and very frustrating. I had a 2019 Mazda CX-9 for 4 years and liked the interface - one of the big reasons I was attracted to the CX-90. Cons: as other reviewers have noted - limited space for storage in front cabin and behind 3rd row. Turbo S Premium model that I bought does not have ventilated front seats, so you may want to avoid black interior. Paddle shifters are there, but I prefer to shift with my own with the gear selector as I did my old CX-9 but can't do with the CX-90. Overall, I think that Mazda has hit a home run with this vehicle. Those looking for a prestige brand or more cargo room will definitely look for another brand. But I like it better than the 2021 Audi Q7 that I owned. Dealer experience: Picked up the CX-90 at Huffman Mazda in Louisville, over 100 miles from home to get the model I wanted. Well worth the drive - top notch customer experience, no games, no nonsense customer experience. Finalized a very fair deal via email and phone.

Beautiful but not reliable
There are a ton of pros about this car. It literally checked all the boxes that I didn’t even know I had until driving it. I have just over 6,000 miles on it after owning the Turbo S Premium Plus model for 6 months. I’ll try to keep this short and sweet. The pros are numerous: ride quality, aesthetics, quiet cabin, safety, etc etc. but the cons, though they are few, are now outweighing all that this car has to offer. It’s been in the shop 5 times. Much to Mazda’s credit; the customer service has been phenomenal. But I’m tired of taking it in. The problems I’ve had: Driver side mirror shakes at high speeds on the highway. Which they have replaced but the new one shakes the exact same. Two separate recalls. Minor in nature. Front doors rattling. Fixed by the service department and quiet as a mouse now. Grinding noise heard 100% of the time coming from behind the steering wheel. Which I have to take it in the shop in a couple days. I’ll update after that ordeal. And the biggest one: the transmission is anything but smooth. It is clunky. Jerky, jumps, delays, and down right irritating. To the point where it’s kind of stressful and does not leave one with the feeling that this vehicle is not going to last. I would not recommend it. As nice as it looks. They missed the mark on the transmission and build quality.

It's a great "drivers" SUV at a reasonable price.
Purchased mine on 9/25/2023, and, I still have smile on my face. My wife and I are in our mid 70's, no grand kids yet, and, this was the perfect SUV for us. I'm a Mazda fan and still own a 2013 Miata MX5 converitble as my fun in the sun toy. The Preferred Plus trim was perfect of us as we needed a 2nd row bench seat, which is not available on upper trims, for our dogs. 280hp is more than enough power for hwy merging and has ample passing power when needed. Like all Mazdas this is a "drivers vehicle". Great handling, good power, and, the fit and finish is fantastic. Test drove the Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, and, Hyundai Palisade, which were okay, but none of them drive like this CX90. Yes, those have more cargo space, and, legroom in the 3rd row, but that was not a necessity for us. I traded a 2018 VW Atlas V6 I had for 5 1/2 years and it was cavernous like the other 3 I test drove. However, none of these are a "drivers vehicle" like this CX90. The Turbo charged 3.3 liter at 280hp uses regular gas, and, gets better gas mileage than the others. If you want a midsized SUV that has more than adequate power, fantastic handling, and, the best fit and finish of any vehicle in its price range, the CX90 is a real winner. Especially in the Preferred Plus trim. It's both Zoom Zoom, and, superb handling all in one package. Personally, I don't have a single dislike.
Mazda CX-90 is this a Lexus?
Here is what I like: Great adaptive cruise control! Nice comfortable and good looking seats. Nice sound system. Nice MPG for such a large vehicle. Good looking vehicle. Well functioning climate control. Ride is quiet although not BMW quiet. What could be better: Acceleration from a stop. Takes a while to get going. Front air vents are curved towards the door. Be careful that you don’t bang your knee getting in the front seats. Price is a bit high.
Artisan Red
We had been shopping Acura, Cadillac, BMW, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, and Lincoln for over a year. and the new Mazda CX-90 blew them away. Much higher reliability and build quality. A sporty luxury SUV, with Second row heated captains chairs and cargo room behind them with third row down. No need for the turbo S, the regular turbo gives this stylish SUV 320 lbs of torque immediately on regular gas, I can always drive in sport mode if I need a ticket. We visited our local dealership and test drove the CX-90 in Artisan Red, with Turbo Premium Plus options. The first one they received. Test drove it and bought it immediately. It’s a big AWD turbo Miata. We’ve had it for a month love the looks and handling. Our kids love the captains chairs.
