CX5 Signature
I purchased a CX5 Signature with all the bells and whistles about 3 months ago. I traded a 2015 Honda CRV. I'm still loving it. The interior is especially nice and the turbo engine is incredibly fast. I have zero complaints.

Comfortable & Efficient Small SUV
Ride is a bit tight, but is a champ on long road trips. Compared to Kia, doesn’t have same storage nooks and crannies other imports incorporate to maximize space. Front area a little congested on long trips—drink area and center console often fought over. Steering is tight—especially when compared to Wrangler or Cherokee. First time in a 4cylinder—and it’s OK. doesn’t feel underpowered on highways. Have not tried it in mountains or with towing. Cargo space is decent—not best, not worst. Auto-hatch closer is the option you never knew you needed and can never live without. Rear AC vents and moonroof dog approved. Apple Car Play integration works for me. Center display and controls are intuitive and easy to navigate while driving. Really can’t go wrong with this little gem. Would get power seats for passenger side on next go round. Definitely get the moonroof if you feel you’re missing your larger off-road vehicle of your youth. Only draw back is it’s a little long for city parking.

Great Car, great price!
Writing this review after exactly 24 months later, we bought our new 2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Trim and instantly fell in love with little bundle of joy. We don't do much cross-country drives but we took this baby for a spin from Portland to Salt Lake City Utah for a weekend vacation and this car was all aces in each and every section. Primarily using is groceries run and weekend meets. This car is super stylish, just rightly powered for the city and if you need fun, switch on the SPORTS mode and fly like an eagle. Our main reason to buy this car was to get a car within our budget which also had all bells and whistles, for which you'd usually pay premium a price tag. We are all for safety first, so this vehicle has AWD with Accident mitigation with front & rear collision safety brakes. Then Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot monitoring, Traffic Jam Assist and Traffic sign post reading helps you drive effortlessly. Best thing you also get an Active Driving Display which prjects desired information on driver's end wind shield and works like a charm as the blind spot, traffic readings and even the distance between your car and the car ahead is shown on this display. On top of this use the adaptive cruise which will keep a desired distance from the car in front of you and will come to full stop if needed. All these tech with a humble price. Leather interior and BOSE sound system quality goes without saying, it also has a cold weather package for all seats and steering wheel, moon roof, both passenger and driver power seat adjustments, power windows and power tail gait to help you with groceries. Auto dim head light for darker night drives which turns down to not disturb the on coming traffic but comes back up when no car is approaching. Engine is perfectly tunned for everyday commute and mid ranged getaway vacations. Very satisfactory gas mileage. We have a Black for exterior & interior which looks stunning. This is the best affordable city mid size SUV we have ever seen on the market. Competitors might have bigger engine but they don't offer all convenience features on lower trims. We love our Mazda CX-5.

CX5 Mazda bad quality
Beautiful look but I’m not happy with a lot things like they need to change gaz pump at around 60k and now at 87000k they need to change the alternator, coil and battery. I was very sold for Mazda but now I will never buy any Mazda.

Happy with my used CX5 Sport!
I bought my 2018 Mazda CX5 Sport on Nov 13, 2020 after trading in my 2007 Nissan Murano S. After reading all the car reviews that always focused on a turbocharged Grand Touring Reserve, I am pleased with my Sport trim level. The cloth seats are comfortable, the regular 2.5L Skyactive engine provides ample acceleration, and my standard 4 speaker system sounds great. My 7 inch navigation display screen is larger than my portable Garmin, and I bought a Mazda SD navigation chip from Amazon ($52 versus $400 from Mazda) that allows me to enter addresses. The car handles great, and I love the Eternal Blue exterior color. I don't miss all the other fancy options that a Touring or Grand Touring would offer a buyer. My CX5 Sport features the same mechanical underpinnings as the upper trim levels. The car came in to the dealer from a 2 year lease that ended. The car had only 22,383 miles. The basic (36 mos./36,000 miles) and drivetrain (60 mos./60,000 miles) warranties were transferrable by Mazda to unlimited number of owners. So far, the dealership corrected the reassembly of the air cleaner box when replacing the air filter, but no other mechanical issues after less than 4 weeks of ownership. I love the car, and its appearance is striking. If you cannot afford buying a fully loaded Touring or Grand Touring, buy the CX5 Sport and buy accessories from the Mazda Parts department. I retrofitted my CX5 Sport with the the retractable cargo cover, cargo floor net, soft cargo line, CX5 windshield screen, and the earlier mentioned Mazda SD navigation chip. Now I have a nicely optioned CX5 Sport! I kept my Nissan Murano for 13 years; looks like I'll keep the CX5 for another decade.

Great SUV/Crossover for the price
The 2018 CX5 has many features that previous models did not have. I really like the pushing of a button either in the car on the tailgate or on the remote to open the tailgate. Also, the push of a button to close it. The easy access controls for the stereo stysem, volume and navigation is really nice. The “heads up display” appearing on the windshield is wonderful. It is much safer than moving your head back and forth. A couple things I do not like is the location and operation of the heater/ac fan and the removal of the CD player. It may be considered old-fashioned to still use cd’s but I have a lot of them including mixes I created. Why this car does not have a CD player is beyond me. The car has a nice sleek and stylish look. I really enjoy my 2018 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD.

Purchase of new Mazda CX5
This car has been so well designed for the drivetrain, reliability, safety, comfort, practicality, high quality and very fun to drive. Having compared this vehicle with comparable in its class, this CX 5 is definitely superior in all ways. Excellent performance, quality and very fun to drive.

Really Mazda
Had car 2 months and the plastic bumper had come loose from the body....entire exterior is made of cheap plastic and under body around wheels is held together with plastic screws I’ve never in my life seen a car made of such cheap materials you can literally push in the body with your hand!! Totally DISAPPOINTED!! Should’ve kept my Tribute 🙁

The good and the bad
I bought the CX5 because of the great reviews on the ride of this vehicle. It didn't disappoint. The acceleration is great - there is no lag when you hit the gas, which is something other small crossovers lack. smooth ride. The gas mileage is great. However..... I HATE HATE HATE their "infotainment system". Instead of putting your buttons and knobs on the dash, they take up half the center console with this big, bulky knob that controls the settings, radio, nav, etc. There is also a knob for the volume on your radio. I cannot tell you how many times I have accidentally muted my radio by hitting that button. Because you have this huge dial in the center, the cup holders are pushed back to where you almost have to reach behind you to get your drink and the center consol storage is TINY. It's just not designed or thought out very well in my opinion. The dashboard is pretty much Empty and they put everything in the center consol, taking up space that could be used for storage, better placed cup holders, etc. Speaking of cup holders...... The two oddly placed ones in the center are the ONLY cup holders in the entire car. None in the back. Only those slanted "bottle" holders on the doors. There is no arm rest in the back seat..... Pretty much Nothing in the back seat except for the seat. The sport does not have auto lights or power seats, which came standard in my Tucson. I feel like you don't get very many features with the sport model. But the acceleration and gas mileage are way better than my Tucson was, so It's worth sacrificing some features inside. But.... For the love of God, get rid of that infotainment system. It's awful! Difficult to use and navigate. I read the same thing in sooo many reviews. Everyone hates it. Not sure why they don't listen to their customers and change it.

Conflicted
The exterior look was great. Rear seating cramped. Interior colors and leather only came one way, no matter exterior color: disappointing. A lot of bells and whistles for the price. Sluggish acceleration and only adequate handling. Loved the safety features.

Smooth Car Buying Experience!
My wife and I decided on it's time to buy a SUV, after researching for couple of months on all the brands and going to multiple dealerships we've narrowed our list down to 2018 Mazda CX-5. Then after talking to several Mazda dealerships all over Houston Area, Russell & Smith Mazda was the best in class. They offer great incentives at the dealership as far as maintenance is concerned, one of the top dealerships that offers extra value after you buy your vehicle. I actually talked to a lot of great sales rep at each dealership but something about Russel and Smith made us feel at ease. On August 28th, 2018, we decided to take the leap and Gilton Huggett was our primary contact and he's been outstanding every step of the way. Extremely knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. This was the smoothest car buying experience we've ever had. Price was negotiated up front before we even came into the dealership, no hidden fees or hassle once at the dealership, really put us at ease. I kept waiting for a catch, but there was none. We were provided excellent customer service from both Gilton Huggett and Jad Jibin from the moment we walked in, we were explained everything and test drove the vehicle we were interested in. Then how the vehicle works after purchasing it. The CX-5 is phenomenal, i'm super satisfied with the purchase! Not only does it look amazing, the plethora of features and drive is unreal. Gilton answered all our questions and provided phenomenal customer service from the start to end. Even after buying the vehicle, Gilton was still answering all our questions and giving us tips and tricks. I love how the excellent customer service doesn't end with you leaving the door. Finance department was great, no hidden fees and catches. This was a super smooth car buying experience. I'm going to recommend Russell & Smith Mazda to all my friends and family. I'll definitely do business again with them that's for sure.

Blown engine at 30,000 km.
One star review due to a blown engine at 30k. Started knocking so I checked the oil and it was gone. Added 4 quarts and the knock went away. 40km later, it starting knocking worse then completely died. I'm giving it one star because it was fun to drive until it stopped driving. It probably won't be under warranty either. Mazda is the same as Kia and Hyundai these days and all 3 brands are garbage. I will be selling this car or trading it in. That skyactive engine is garbage. At least I can get where I need to go with my 07 tacoma. The Mazda cx5 was our first new car and it didn't even make 100,000km. My advice to anyone who is considering buying one of these garbage piles, please consider another brand. The car isn't even paid off and it's toast. Don't make the same mistake that we did.

My 2018 Mazda Grand Touring is a great car. Handles like a sports car, comfortable on long trips, great fuel economy. Purchased April, 2018 and zero issues with over 10K miles on it. Sonsiders a CRV but can't deal with stop/start and the CRV cost more.

Fun reliable SUV, priced very well
So I’ve had this car for four years now and put 83,000 miles on it. A lot of stop and go traffic, many trips across the country. As far as comfort it was perfect, multifunctional seats, heated seats, Bose sound system, navigation, all the bells and whistles. I have the touring addition with a 19 inch rims in black, it was sleek! Plenty of cargo room, 25 miles per gallon on average. It was an extremely comfortable and quiet vehicle. As far as reliability it never left me stranded, started up every time with the exception of needing a new battery at 60,000 miles. The AC blower motor started going out at 70,000 miles so I had to takeoff the glove box and knock on the motor several times throughout the day. It was a $300 fix but I kept putting it off. It needed brakes, the usual stuff. It had a minor oil leak around the seals, but it did not leak oil on the ground. Another simple fix that I just didn’t do because I knew I was trading the car in. There was nothing wrong with the car I just like to have a new car every 3 to 5 years as I get bored with them. I love Mazda‘s, their fun, sporty and reliable with a great price point. I got mine fully loaded for $32,000 out the door. I will say the only drawback that I absolutely hated about this car was the stop and go traffic it felt like I was driving an old stick shift even though it was automatic. It was a lunge forward like a stick shift not letting the clutch off smoothly. The dealership said this was the sky active System learning the way I drive. But you would think after 80,000+ miles it would learn my driving quite well especially considering I’m the only one that’s ever driven this vehicle. Highway cruising miles it was perfect, but this car does not like stop and go bumper-to-bumper traffic. Well to be honest no car does but this one did not handle it well.

Best SUV For The $$
I bought my CX-5 Grand Touring several months ago and wanted to really get to know the vehicle before posting a review. Bottom line it's a fantastic buy for the money. There are alot of SUV's out there but nothing compares to this vehicle from safety, reliability, ease of the infotainment controls, the quiet cabin, comfort, etc. Whether you are driving around town or out on the expressway, this SUV does not dissapoint in any way!! It's obvious why so many vehicle publications (including this one) give the CX-5 such high marks. I've read that Mazdas in general are not mass-produced like it's competitors which allows more attention to quality and detail and it shows. Don't take my word for it. Drive it and compare it to others for yourself. The only difference between the 2018 (which I own) and the newer 2019 is a slight modification to the dash configuration and that apple car play / android auto is now a standard feature.

Premium feel crossover
So my wife purchased a 2020 cx-5 three months ago. We both love it. Well I traded my 2016 Subaru Legacy premium in on a 2018 Mazda cx-5 touring with touring pkg that has 12000 miles on it. Love it. Very little difference from my wife's car. Very sporty handling yet comfortable ride. Interior has a sophisticated and classy feel. My wife and I couldn't be more happier with our cx-5's. Update: I've now had the car for 7 months. Everything is great. Love driving it. If I have to ding it for anything it would be the navigation system is a bit cumbersome. Also a little higher mpg would be nice. I currently average 26 back and forth to work in mostly stop and go driving.

Excellent performance for its class
AWD has handled incredibly well, and I’m used to the Audi A4 with Quattro. So far, I’ve tested it on standing water and dirt roads. The automatically adjustable Cruise Control is my favorite gift I never knew I needed. Very comfortable drive and seats. Great visibility. My criteria were the following: great AWD and decent ground clearance for handling unplowed snow, small enough to regularly parallel park in the city, SUPER reliable, and comfortable enough for long road trips. It’s also fun to drive! Best of all these features I found in this price range. Only drawback is the MPG— hope to have another in the future that’s a hybrid!

Solid!
Slick styling and solid construction. This vehicle is well worth the money if you want value and the newest safety features. I would buy this vehicle again and again.
Mazda number 1 for a reason
We’re first time Mazda owners. Done routine maintenance on car and have had zero problems with it. Had a few recalls which they fixed. Our car drives like a dream is still quiet and could be speeding if I didn’t watch it. Plenty of room inside for passengers and very comfortable to drive. We currently have 75,000 miles on it. I’m hooked on Mazda’s now. Oh and love ❤️ the way it looks, very stylish.

Style- very nice design
Slow for car to heat up. Front doors a little to far forward for entry if your 6' or over and for seeing on coming traffic at stop signs but I knew this when I bought it and have gotten used to it.

Mazda CX-5 sport
Great vehicle for the price! No b.s from the dealer “Brightbay Mazda” which was excellent due to a good deal gone bad at a Honda dealer “apple honda” the crv was in contention as well.we agreed on the price signed the sales agreement and left the required deposit only to find out upon delivery that the deal had changed wait what? They forgot to deduct the owed money on the trade as well as wait for it ....... the tax!! So after three days of fighting several calls to corporate we decided that not only will we not do biz with Apple Honda ever again despite purchasing three cars prior from them we won’t do biz with Honda again either! The cx5 has been great the dealership experience was great the price was great so thank u Mazda. In and out with the car in two hours! That’s the way it should work!

Dealbreaker!
The CX-5 was on my top 3 list until I discovered that discovered that it does not have a CD player! OK, I get that many people keep all their music on their smart phone, but there are many of us who also have a CD collection and like to pull one out and listen to it, especially on trips. Mazda has decided we don't matter. Now it's down to the RAV4 and Subaru.

Mazda CX-5 surpasses Lexus and Honda
Mazda and safety integration in the new 2018 CX-5 is unparalleled to the competition Mazda has your back. Impressive and quite cabin and all the details in fit and finishes in the interior surprisingly upscale. Fun to drive on the curves and has efficient fuel economy. Yes it has the cool factor of aggressive exterior styling especially the front end. Soul red is amazing, the paint glows a mesmerizing warm red yellow glow in the sun light. 28,800 mile review
Purchased car for safety equipment and price/value, 18 months later, the safety equipment is definitely worth it. Love the blind spot monitor and the collision avoidance. Appreciate the adaptive speed control and land detection (but turned the sound off - too similar to blind spot monitor). Drives well, everything works after 28,800 miles with no mechanical problems. Great sound system. One complaint - the factory equipped tires are noisy. I have met every maintenance interval at the dealer, tires have been rotated - they claim the factory installed soft tires (Toyo A-36)for cushier ride and the road noise between 45 and 70 mph is annoying. Another minor issue is the plastic, rubber guard around real wheel well came off in car wash. Overall, great car, good gas mileage (around 28 mpg), good performance, great safety features, and minimum problems.

Classy ride on a micro beer budget.
The best bang for your buck. So many classy additions on a micro beer budget. I was looking for something that said I've moved on from the minivan and into a cushier ride. I was contemplating a Jeep Wrangler because I miss my old one but I'm not 20 something anymore and I've come to appreciate not feeling my kidneys hit my spine when driving and let's face it, too my rock concerts have left my hearing at subpar levels and a Jeep isnt the quietest. So, with that all being said we bought this 2018 with only 7,000 miles at the end of Sept 2019. We took it across country to Nebraska for Thanksgiving. The space was a bit challenging for a family of four but it was doable and comfortable, but we packed very light. If we do that again, we'll have to get one of the things that go on top to house our luggage. (We traded in our 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan) but the ride quality was far superior and the AWD handling in the snow we encountered along the way made us feel safe. Was very impressed. Love the assisted cruise control feature. I feel very spoiled driving this CX-5. Most of my family, ie parents, brothers/sisters drive Toyotas, Hondas, Infinity and Lexus, they have been turning their heads with this one and have all commented on it's appearance of expensive quality. I hope this isnt just me rambling, I hope you take away from this review I chose this over the Toyota Rav4, Honda Pilot, Subaru Outlander and Nissan Rogue based on me researching my purchase, reading and watching reviews. I think this purchase has fulfilled my expectations of an entry level suv compared to a suv in the luxury market. It is just as nice and rides just as smooth but moreover so fun to drive. I really appreciate the options Mazda gives you over controlling the way the engine performs. Great buy for the money.

Fun to drive!
I love this CX-5! Drives very smooth and quiet. Plenty of power for a 4 cyl. Well appointed interior, very comfortable ride and user-friendly knobs and controls. The only negative is that the tail lights on the lift gate don't illuminate. I'm not sure if this is part of the design of the 2017 model, or if the bulbs need replacing. Tail lights very small when driving at night. I'll have to look into this. Otherwise, I'm really enjoying this car.
Wonderful car with lots of features
Love this car--has a nice dark blue exterior, and white leather seats---so comfortable. It accelerates well and there are so many important features that make driving it both fun and safe.
Great Vehicle
I bought this vehicle three weeks ago and have been very impressed. It is very comfortable, makes for a great ride, and has good pickup. My only complaint so far would be that it's pickup from a stop is a little slow. It consistently averages around 25 MPG.
My 2nd CX-5!
Enjoyed my 2013 CX-5 touring so much, I bought a used 2018 touring. It didn't disappoint!
Best car Ever
I bought my CX-5 Touring with the Tech Package brand new from the dealer. Almost 5 years and 55,000 miles later the car is still as tight as solid as ever. The safety and comfort features are amazing. The interior is beautiful and appears premium. The car is comfortable for long trips. This is the happiest car purchase I have ever made.

Love this vehicle!
I had been shopping around for a while and had my eyes set on a Mazda CX-5 after lots of searching. I found the grand touring model and was extremely happy with my test drive (including the subwoofer built into the spare tire, I love my loud music!) I was driving a '11 Nissan Rogue -- the pickup in the Mazda was noticeably much quicker! Interior much more comfortable.

Quite happy
2018 C-5 Touring with 58,000 mi. I thoroughy enjoy this car. No problems since new except the leather wrap steering wheel cover dried out and cracked. Dealer replaced.. The car handles very well and although not a power house it is well balanced and feels responsive. I've averaged 27.2 mpg since new. Can get 39 mpg on the freeway if I keep it below 65....hard to do...lol. To me the CX-5 is a drivers car. Could use larger seats for large drivers. High quality interior.
