SO disappointed in this vehicle. HORRIBLE ride. HATE the tailgate. We call it the "weeble" because it wobbles in turns. CONSISTENT issue with transmission which they are apparently unable to fix, as it comes back again and again. Seriously considering lemon law on this one, as another reviewer I saw here. I have few good things to say about this vehicle.

I bought this car for the safety & reliability for my pregnant wife. Immediately after picking it up I noticed a significant shimmy at 60-65 mph. I have had it back twice to the dealer and it has not been corrected. Watertown Lexus has told me it been occuring to some of the GX470's. Lexus Customer Satisfaction has been no help solving this issue. I am pursuing this & if they fail to fix it this 3rd time I will pursue the lemon law. At this point I am very dissapointed with Lexus,the dealer and the vehicle, and would not recommend the GX470 as I feel the shimmy is significant enough where it could render the vehicle unsafe in certain conditions.

I fell in love with the styling of the car. The car drives terribly. Poor mileage. Jerking when it is at a stop. Taken it to service, they say that is the way the car is made. High reving when it is started, even when it is warmed up. The comfort of the car, on the passenger side, sits low and can't adjust seat. No lumbar. No power on the highway, due to they all come in 4 wheel drive.

I bought my GX during the Lexus Golden opportunity Day. I was told that there were no incentives on the GX. But I found out later that that was not true. Lexus has decided to drop the prices on the GX by making the worthless 3rd seat a N/C item on the last of the 2004 models. So, I lost $2000 by buying during the Lexus golden opportunity days. Beware these guys are tricky and they Lie. Go buy a Sequioa or Infiniti.

Had vehicle in for minor service. Shop called and said that service was NOT completed because the FRAME was RUSTED and completely perforated in numerous places, UNSAFE TO DRIVE

This GX is my second and last Lexus. Shakes like a Model T at 60 mph. Brakes stop the car with a loud and shaking "KLUNK" at the end of the stop. Nav system is woefully out of date. All the dealer can tell me is "Lexus is aware of your problems but doesn't have a fix at this time." Bad answer. . .

I like the easy of handling, smooth drive and flexibility of space(parks more like a car).My biggest objections are the rear door and the access(need to lock it in place to keep it from closing on you, want more ability to change temperature settings in back rows and easier rear seat and mid seat removal.I drove it in very inclimate conditions in 4 wheel drive with great response.It turns very well for a large vehicle and can handle high speeds easily. Overall, I would give it an 8.5 with room to make some changes. I like Lexus and their willingness to stand behind their product.Would probably go back to one of their cars again, once small child is older.

This is a great truck, but 1.the arm rest on the captin's chair's should be longer. 2.the position of the heated seat buttons are out of reach, try reaching it with a seat bealt on. also the memory seat buttons are in the way, every time i open the door i hit them.

The only thing Lexus missed was adding a rearview reverse camera for the navigation screen or at the very least a reverse sensors...other than that, this is a GREAT vehicle!
What more could you ask for $50K

Bought my 2004 GX with Navigation and third row seats. The SUV sits very high which makes visibility great. I have had no problems with the vehicle to date but only have 1,000 miles on the vehicle. The backup camera is priceless as the vehicle has a large blind spot. The navigation and instrumentation is flawless.

I recently purchased this GX470 after owning an 2003 Tahoe Z71. I am very happy with this Lexus so far, and it is a dramatic improvement in every way over other 4x4's that I have owned. I have also owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee (too small, bad mileage). The ride quality and smoothness of the powertrain is amazing and the vehicle is very quiet on the highway.

I bought this strictly for the SUV tax credit, and it is my first SUV, having driven Honda/Acura products for the past 25 years. Wanted something at least as reliable. Sorry VW (Toureg). Would recommend it to anyone. Quiet and smooth.

Outstanding fit and finish. Engine is satin smooth and builds power with additional mileage. I've been averaging 18.9mpg with a combination of city(commute) and highway driving. Acceleration is strong but transmission shifts too soon (albeit very smoothly). Sports sedan type handling and a very tight turning radius, surprizing for a vehicle of this size.

I spent a lot of time researching before buying my new SUV/LUV. I decided to wait for the 2004 GX b/c of my fear of buying a vehicle in its first model year. I can honestly say I am absolutely satisfied! I LOVE this vehicle. It's everything I was looking for.

For the price, this is an excellent value. Not sure, why anuyone would pay $20K more for the LX470. It beats competition, tough they may seam cheaper. When you add all the options on the others, this one is so much more worth it.

We just recently bought our GX 470. After reading countless reviews and doing extensive research, we chose the Lexus hands down. We are extremely happy with it. The ride is very smooth and we love all of the luxury features.

This is the the seventh Lexus I have owned, and it is by far my favorite. Our LX470 is also great, but this is more sporty, with more get up and go, and more sun to drive. The sound system is fantastic.

The GX470 is a lot of SUV for the money. It comes with about every detail imaginable and certainly more than you thought you ever needed. We feel spoiled in the car. It definitely stands up to the Range Rover - certainly in quality - but even in styling. I really don't know what else we would want in a car. DVD/Sound system is amazing (5.0 DTS!!!), Leather and wood are first class, navigation system is as good as it gets. This SUV is not the biggest, fastest or cheapest but it may be the best.

A quiet, luxurious, and smooth ride overall. Beautiful presence and the perfect size. Quality materials and dependable. Stock stereo (sound) is nothing to brag about (previously had Bose) and I would upgrade if I had it to do again. Lack of dome light button to light entire interior cabin annoying at best. Seats are a little short for someone with long legs, but all SUV's I've been in are the same. Auto tilt mirrors when backing up are great. Hard to manually operate lights/wipers/cruise at night because controls are not lighted and because everything generally runs great on automatic, in an instance you need to operate these manually, you are not familiar enough with.

Wow, what a fantastic truck. I am coming out of a Mercedes ML320 and this vehicle is far superior in every aspects. I love everything on this SUV.

We just purchased our GX470 a week ago. This is our 1st Lexus. The whole buying experience was like no other. We were pampered, and will be in the future too. Lexus will even come to pick up vehicle should we ever need service on it and bring a Lexus for me to drive if I need it. How's that for customer service? I love this vehicle.Drives like a dream...quiet, lots of supple leather and beautiful wood. Very elegant inside and tons of "bells and whistles" w/nav. system, DVD player, fun to drive!!!!

I have had this vehicle for less then two weeks and have found nothing that I don't like. The drive is smooth as silk. This is the perfect SUV ! It comfortably seats 7 and the DVD and Navigation are extremly easy to use. For the money you cant go wrong.

Just picked up my '04 GX 470. All I have to say is WOW!!! I am thoroughly impressed with Lexus's design. Not only does this vehicle drive like a dream, it has every interior gadget you can think of. I test drove the BMW X5, Cadillac SRX, & Escalade. Let me tell you they don't even compare. Lexus set the bar with this design!!!

I've got 15,000 miles on mine now. It is a superb vehicle. Very smooth, quiet ride but not sprung too lightly. Not a hot rod, but very adaquately powered. Drives great. They could improve it by finding some other way to store the third row seats so it doesn't further compromise already somewhat limited storage space. Should offer halogen headlights. But overall, an outstanding vehicle.

The Lexus GX470 is a capable and comfortable suv,overall it is the best possible choice for consumers who desire a 7 seater suv without wanting to spend 60,000. Love my GX 470 Never had a suv b-4, bought it on a whim, but it's no mistake...it's a great vehicle & i'm not looking back. fun to drive, user friendly, "great" rear door opening to the side instead of up..excellent for everything, easy access!

The vehicle is a Lexus. Smooth ride plus. The rear door is trully uncomfortable and there have been several issue with service, that, until this date, with 5 months of experience with the truck, still has not been corrected. It rides like a car but moves like a truck and there have been no off road limitations on hand. It was a newly designed truck, but it looks like they hurried it to the production line. Styling could have been better, but we will take it.

I had bought a Jeep brand new and had nothing but probelms. Own a toyota and never had a problem. Loved the idea of the "all new toyota r-runner" but hated the new body style. When the GX came out I read everything I could find on it. I am very very pleased with the quality, comfort and class.

This is an outstanding vehicle in almost every way. Not as pricey as the Lx 470 but every bit as good. I was looking for a V-8 with decent gas mileage and this is it. The ride is pure comfort and you get a host of luxury features. The interior is like a living room.

I was driving a 'Vette and felt it was time to purchase a more family friendly vehicle. The GX blew away the competition! Smooth ride and zips around town & into parking areas with ease. The interior is as plush as a home den. I like the rear side- opening 'barn door'. It's light weight and easy to handle. I have banged my head on my husband's 'up & away' tailgate. I continue to be amazed at all the safety features incl. automatic lighting inside & out which assures safe passage to and from the house, multiple side curtain airbags and rear view camera for backing up. Too many well planned ammenities to list...

Overall, I am satisfied with the vehicle. It was precisely the size I was looking for. However, when you compare some of the features to other SUVs, it seems that components are missing. Example, for $1,000 more you can get an Infiniti QX56 with the Xenon Headlamps, LED tail lights, 2nd row heated bucket seats, 8 way passenger seats, Laser assisted Cruise control, and brake preview assist. The only reason I did not get the QX is because it is just too large for what I was looking for.

My experience with the GX has been a pleasant one. This vehicle replaced a Toyota 4-Runner. The GX is not as sporty, but was not intended to be. Considering it's size, it is very quiet and comfortable. Initially, I did not think I would enjoy full time 4 wheel drive. One drive on a rain soaked road changed my mind. No more unintended wheel spin departing signals on wet streets. Overall, a very comfortable, capable vehicle.

This is my first Lexus and I was not let down from what I expected. I have taken it off road several times it has handled beautifully. I am averaging 19.3 mpg over the life of the car (most of my driving is highway). My biggest complaint is about something pretty trivial - radio controls. I could buy a radio at Circuit City that would be more user friendly. Lexus's top designers must have had the day off when the radio was being created. The controls are spread out among the steering wheel, the touch screen and the cassette deck below.

This is my first Lexus and I am thrilled with everything about it. The size is perfect and gives me the versatility I need with seven available seats. The RX was too small for me and the LX too big. The GX is just right!

I love driving this vehicle. It feels heavy and safe and has fantastic pick up for passing. The only negative is the navigation system is a bit confusing and can only be reset when the vehicle is stopped.

I have been driving the GX470 for one month and I have receiving more of what I pay for it. Previously, I had a Toyota Land Cruiser and I changed for GX 470 2004 (full); better suspension, more futures, more comfort, ride quality, better acceleration respond when I need it, more quietness, smoother, with the same interior room (more head room) and believe me I was really happy with my 99 Land Cruiser! This is power, reliability and comfort, this is a Lexus!

I purchased this vehicle after selling a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner LTD. I like the stability I felt when I took this vehicle skiing. I purchase a loaded version and my kids love the DVD.
