I picked up this car 8/2011 with 103K miles. I got for $9k out the door! clean 1 owner carfax with great service record! It was a steal!! It's in virtual mint condition. It has 130k miles now and no issues what so ever on many long trips, day to day city driving. Its comfortable, built like a tank, but ride is so quiet & smooth! It's not for racing! Not even the V8 is for that, but this car's power is enough to do what you needed to. It has classic & timeless good looks and I get compliments on it all the time. This car is durable reliable car that I can recommend to anyone. This model stopped in 2005 as in 06 a new style came out, but I like this one better!

When I bought this car it had 80000 miles I didn't do anything to the car until it reached 100000 miles nothing major and had to change the starter at about 105000 miles now at 110000 miles no problems so far an I hope it stays that way. Overall the car is great compare to what’s out there don't think twice and buy it...........

This has been a great car. There has been only one problem - w/ the fuel gauge and that was fixed by the dealer. It is a very quiet smooth ride and feels sporty for a sedan. It feels solidly made and is comfortable on long or short trips. Lexus gives outstanding service to its customers - I love being able to make an appt for any type of service I may need - and they are on time.

BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED

Bought car used in 2000 with 41000 miles on it. Smooth, classy, sporty, and just the best built car I have ever driven. Could have bit more power, but it has more power than 95% of other 3 L engines. One problem caused by me, getting too much H2O around engine led to 2 days at dealer. Another problem now is FM reception in nil when weather is hot. Still, would not trade for any other luxury car PERIOD and I have driven numerous higher end cars.

I have owned 3 GSs over the last 6 years and the 98 is the one I currently drive. This car is smooth, well built and a pleasure to drive. Buying it used is easy, because it's a Lexus. No unscheduled repairs (I've put 55k mls on this one and 65k mls on another)! Almost same interior as the LS with better mileage. Better quality feel than the ES. It is expensive to service, but far less than a BMW or Mercedes would be, and if you find a good independent repair shop you're a lot better off. I highly recommend this car.

Can never go wrong with Lexus

Purchased this vehicle in '03 with 34K miles. It has been a great car. I've only had to replace the tires and a couple of turn signal bulbs. It looks outstanding, and the features in a '98 vehicle will compete with most '05 vehicles. Everyone loves our car, and are very surprised to find out how old it is. The styling is wonderful. The tranny is a little sticky going from 1st to 2nd, but then it is smooth sailing. You better keep an eye on your speed, because it is easy to cruise with without realizing how fast you are going. This vehicle does not get the gas mileage it should however, and it is not wonderful in the snow. Overall, we have been very happy with it. Would love an '06!

I've wanted a '98 GS since they first hit the road. I was holding out for a GS 400 to get the V8 and the better 0- 60 time, but decided that the GS300 had plenty of power for my needs. I've had the car a year now and am very pleased. Knowing what I know now, I would have still made the purchase. The car is very reliable and the service dealer is fantastic. I wish the car got a few more miles per gallon around town than it does (about 17- 18). Also, it's recommended that the GS use premium gas, which makes the $/mile higher. But hey, if I wanted low $/mile I would have gotten a Honda Civic or Toyota Matrix. Anyway, two thumbs up for the GS300.

I bought this car a couple of months ago and i love it. I was highly debating between the Infinity I30 and the GS300. The design, styiling and power is excellent VS the Infinity. I would highly recommend this car to anyone. It is a little pricy but worth every single dime. You feel good evertime you see it in your garage.

A+ Ride and Comfort--Mediocre in Snow

Simply a fantastic car in almost every way. One issue of concern is driving in the snow. Gadgets galor to assist driver such as traction control, antilock breaks and a snow gear, but good luck if you live in an area with even small hills. Rear wheel drive clearly makes driving interesting in snowy conditions. Yet, would I have purchased the car if I had known about this beforehand? Still a definite yes!

This is the best car we have ever owned. Beautiful, reliable fast and solid. Incredible build quality. You may see one GS on the road for every ten ESes. I like that. We have had for 3 years with no problems. No squeaks or rattles. Drives like a new one with 76000m. Hate to wait until 06 for a new one but it will be worth it. Xenon headlamps are phenomenal. Oil changes and tires and that's it.

I have had this car for a little over a year and have had no serious problems although I put about 40k miles on it so far. Reliability is excellent. I can't really think of anything I would have improved. The editor's review says this car is for those who can't decide between sport or luxury. Well I want both. And I got it. I just finished test driving a 2001 BMW 525i tonight. It sure felt stiff and slow. The interior wasn't as comfortable.

I have had this car since for 2 years now and I am still psyched every time I get in to drive it...Even though its a 98, it looks, rides and handles like a brand new car...It is a mystery to me why it took such a hit on depreciation though, especially since the body style is still the same since 98 !!! But I plan to keep for another 5 plus years... FYI - not one thing has gone wrong and it has 69K miles and counting...

The combination of luxury and performance is unbelievable. This vehicle gives the driver a most enjoyable and satisfying experience. I've owned and driven many different types of vehicles in my lifetime and this is, without a doubt, the best vehicle I have ever driven or owned.

This is my second GS 300 (first was a 95). I love this car. I have also had a 97 BMW 528i, although they may be a little bit more fun to drive, but who can afford to keep fixing them? The Lexus still looks new and feels like it is built like a tank. I get a lot of compliments.

The vehicle itself is as RELIABLE as they come. I own the spectra blue model and to this day find it hard to keep my eyes off it. I love the color and actually waited for this color to become available. The ride and handling is excellent. The features in this 1998 can compete with today's 2004 models. It basically has power everything. The only disappointing fact is that the new redesigned GS is due out next year. I am not happy about that. It bothers me to be driving the "old" model. Not to mention the value is going to PLUMMIT once the new 2005 arrives. Other than that and the fact that it is TERRIBLE in the snow, I am really happy with it.

A great combination of design, road maners, enogh power and safety features. Definily a quick car on the road with a great estability and smooth drivetrain without sacrifice the sport feeling. Fine style and comfort. Never been more happy with a car before. Excellent acceleration and braking, feels very handy, secure and awesome looking. best over all car.

I bought my car in 10/18, one owner, carfax report very good, maintenance kept up, only 109k miles and I thought I made the right decision in buying the car. But, I made a poor decision because ever since day one it's been in the shop 3 times all for different reasons. First it was the accelerator pedal sensor, then the throttle control sensor, then the brain as a result of the first two; then suddenly white smoke emitted from the engine, which it apparently only needed some gas treatment (but still incurred costs for repairs); now, it's in the shop again for some sort of right front suspension/wheel bearings/control arm (not sure right yet) issue. So, paying a car loan and for repairs isn't really something I can afford. But, overall the car drives nice when it drives, eats gas like no other, very comfortable car to drive. I'm still not happy with the cost of repairs and the problems.

AMAZING CAR! My dad owned one, and made the mistake of letting me drive it. :-P In a way, I'm disappointed he ever let me drive it. My standards have risen to a new level. This car was the most amazing thing I've ever driven. Fuel Economy great! Until you go wide open out of every light like I did (4 MPG) Good sound system. It brings tears to my eyes every time I see one on the road now because I'm so disappointed that he sold it.

A friend of mine had gave me the keys to his Lexus GS 300 for the weekend while he was out of town on business. On Saturday I decided to take it to the car wash and have it cleaned. Needless to say once I put the car in "Drive" I almost snapped my neck (WOW - What Power). After that day I decided I must have one. Today I still love my GS 300 and you know I had to put on my very own custom tires & rims (18 inch chrome). Now my friend is asking me to take my car to the car wash (lol).
