So this is a Lexus?

Have driven this car for 6 months and agree that it is well built, comfortable and devoid of any driving sensations. My car has the throttle lag, noisy engine at start-up, rain-sensitive wipers that cannot understand when to stop wiping and consequently smear the windshield, rattles in the passenger door, etc., etc. I will definitely look at Cadillac next time!

Awesome Upgrade

This is my second Lexus in my driveway (first is a GX) and apart from some headroom concerns for tall people and the lock on centre armrest that needs a location change, this is a luxurious and nice car. It is almost fully loaded and is a nice mix of features and value. It is a great handling car. We recently went on a 450 mile trip and it handled like a dream. I do not undertand the negative tranny press, because it seems to shift very well and effortlessly. As for purported wind noise, well, there is nothing excessive - indeed, it is very quiet. Now, I will admit that if you want a sports car this is not for you, but it is a great family of four vehicle that makes traveling easy and fun.

Very disappointing

Very smooth and comfortable ride, but overall very bland. The experience is ruined by a hopeless navigation system that falls way short of Garmin or even mapquest. The dealer has looked it over many times and confirmed "it is what it is". It only seems to want to calculate straight line routes, even if highways are much quicker. The iPod connector is also buried in the center console - which is a really awkward design anyway. A lot of the components and switches have the same look and feel as a Toyota Prius. I wish I had gone for the BMW instead.

It's Just A Pricey Toyota

Very disappointing vehicle. I was looking for an upscale car that would offer low cost of ownership. This car has been very expensive to maintain and has required some costly repairs, including brakes and rotors. Very poor lighting in the cabin at night. Even the kids complain about the lack of lights. Switches are not backlit so finding the right switch is difficult. The temperature controls are absolutely horrible. Has independent temp control for passenger and driver but there is no correlation between what you set and what it delivers. It's as though the sensor is on the outside and not in the cabin. The voice recognition for the phone is mediocre at best. Paint chipping on hood.

Tranny problems

I purchased a new ES in 06/07. At 500 miles the tranny froze. It took about 3 months to get a new replacement car. The new ES still misses the shifts between 2nd & 3rd gear. There is NO FIX - this is a manufacturing defect with the tranny. I can't wait to get rid of it.
