Intermittent Engine Code, Huge safety concern.
I've had horrible luck with my 2024 Kia k5 GT that I got less than 6 months ago. Constant re-occurring Engine Code (P065312) that's happened from 1000-current (12,665) mileage. HUGE safety concern in my opinion. Also the exterior trim is falling off in certain places and is being replaced under warranty. I've had a few issues with the radio/back-up camera freezing up and becoming unresponsive as well. The primary issue is the Engine. When the Code occurs the car gets stuck at a certain rev point w/ no control from the accelerator, you have to pull over and restart the vehicle to resolve issue. Not the worst thing don't get me wrong, but if it happened on the highway? that's an accident waiting to happen. I've had no luck with any of the dealerships I've been to, and my Kia Consumer Affair rep keeps advising me to give another dealership a chance. I've given the dealership/affair rep ample information to be prepared for the issue, but no luck so far.

Unbridled Power
The K5 GT is a beast. I have to purposely dial it back or I'll get in trouble. Love it. Really impressed with the MPG I'm getting. Rated at 32 highway, over first 3000 miles of mostly highway driving it has returned 37 mpg. Very comfortable seats and interior. Not impressed with the Bose "premium" stereo system. The Fender system on my previous VW was MUCH superior to this Bose. The car has just about every convenience features and options available but has no automatic windshield wipers. What's with that Kia? But overall I'm very pleased with my choice and how this car drives. For $37,700 this a lot of car and tons of value. Especially considering this seams to be a dying breed, the medium sized non-premium brand, non-EV sport sedan. ++

Trim falling off of 2024 Kia K5 GT
I bought the car last Nov. 2023 and noticed 2 months ago that the trim near the roof was very loose and lifting up. Kia said had to order 2 new trim pieces but I keep getting told that it is in BO and they have no idea when the trim pieces will be in. I already lost one of the pieces as it fell off and I do not know where this happened. Very poor cs. serv. as they should be able to at least tell you when they will receive the pieces, instead all I get is "on backorder and have no idea when the pieces will arrive." That is not a satisfactory response!!! This is Kia Delray Beach.
Young grandpa
Sporty yet practical. Great value with all the features and safety. Great gas mileage Great warranty. I bought my wife a new K5 a year ago and bought myself one this year. No buyers remorse, just love it every time I drive it

2024 K5 GT w/GT1 Package
I previously had a 2015 Optima LX and upgrading to this fully loaded performance model was an excellent decision. Car turns many heads. It’s just visually pleasing to look at like an amazing painting. Had to get tints to avoid the constant looks. Comes with a nice 360 camera that is probably the most useful tool in my opinion to help park in those tight spots and I feel that alone is worth the cost. In addition, this car is FAST. I really didn’t expect too much but the 2.5T coupled with a DCT really blew my mind and had me grinning from ear to ear. If you’re irresponsible with your driving, you can really propel yourself into copious amounts of trouble. However, the car does a great job at correcting its position while on the road while giving you advanced warnings of incoming cars. The car also has a neat emergency braking feature that also responds to pedestrians. Car is amazing on highway. You can go 70-85 MPH and won’t even feel it. Has a Bose audio system however it’s not exactly amazing. The sound is crisp and clear however, the audio system lacks a substantial amount of bass that I feel could be easily resolved by adding a small subwoofer. Bottom line, if you’re looking for a fast car that also has stunning looks, many advanced safety features, great interior, and all at a for an AFFORDABLE rate, I highly recommend the K5 GT. Yes it’s a KIA but KIA now makes amazing cars and combined with their warranty, makes it worth a try. This car is not “just a KIA” any longer I assure you. Side note, I cannot speak for the lower trims in regards to performance, however I hear both the GT and GT-line are virtually the same with the exterior with the exception of a few details such as the true dual exhaust and the standard GT rims, and larger brakes. I’d also like to mention a few cons, Interior looks great for its class (you’re buying a KIA not a Mercedes) comes with Synthetic leather (not a con imo) however the con lies in the lack of available color options for the GT. And for the flagship model, I would expect the red leather seat option but that wasn’t available. Another con would be the lack of AWD for this model. The GT line has it available but not the GT. I’d also say lack of an Limited Slip Differential causes this car to be unable to put its full potential power down as it causes a lot of torque steer whenever you launch the car or accelerate violently from a lower gear. This in turn almost always causes a lot of tire spin as the car just is unable to put the power down initially. Bose audio system while producing great sound, lacks bass. Apple CarPlay is WIRED only and cannot be used wirelessly if you have navigation apparently. You would think someone could figure that out by now. But that’s neither here nor there. In the end, this is an overall great car that many will find to be enjoyable.
