I also have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport and I loved driving that one until I got my Liberty! I have nothing but good things to say. It handles great, the suspension makes it a comfortable ride on the highway. I travel about 2000 miles per month and I know I can count on my Liberty! When we are ready to trade in our Cherokee it will be for another Liberty.

LOVE the renegade liberty(style, performance)!! can't think of another suv in its class as cool.. just drove to los angeles from san francisco and for some reason (could it be the regular grade fuel <87>?) going through the mountains on hwy 5, our jeep didn't want to go past 65 miles on the incline... other cars were passing us... that was odd, but I still love my jeep..

Just hit 197K miles the other week and have had very few issues outside routine maintenance. Replaced the AC compressor two years ago, rotors twice (due to my own neglect). Still only on 3rd set of tires and they have at least another 30k in them. Local mechanic said it will need new rear shocks soon. Tremendous value for my money vs. needs and it still averages 21 mpg hwy!

My Liberty Limited has been a great vehicle. It handles great and looks even better - I'm always getting comments on it. It ride does get a little stiff on longer trips, but the interior is nice and the 6 way power, leather seats let you adjust to you hearts content. The gas mileage has gotten a bit better now that I've gotten my vehicle broken in, but don't expect more than about 21 mpg on the highway or about 17 mpg in town. I've taken my Liberty in for service every 3,000 miles as suggested, and I haven't had a single problem mechanical wise. I haven't had any problems - it is just so much fun to drive!
