Safety excellent!!!
I had my jeep grand cherokee for 3 weeks and was in an accident on the highway. I was tboned st 60mph and rolled. If I could post photos I would...Everyone I have spoken to EMT, Police, the Insurance Adjuster say that I am lucky to be alive.. I tell you all of my airbags went off and after the accident was over I walked away with only one fracture. The car was completly totaled but the driver's seat and cabin area looked untouched by damage other than the airbags and the rearview mirror being torn off in impact. It looked like I was in a bubble of protection and the car was destroyed around the cabin but I was completely saved. Thumbs up to Jeep for safety design this Grand Cherokee took a big hit but absorbed impact from me. I will definitely be buying another because I feel safe in a Jeep.

Definite Lemon
First off I love the Jeep Grand Cherokee brand. I had a 2003 and I decided to upgrade to a 2018. I was impressed by the upgrades, but that didn't last when about a week or two later I got an engine light on. Just before that the radio and navigation system shut down while driving without prompting. The SUV shut down after remote starting. Then the remote start app didn't always work. I tried to get assistance but there was no support. Then the jeep shut down after key remote start, sometimes it would not start with key remote start or it would shut down after getting in the vehicle. Driving back on a 20 miles trip the jeep smelled like it was on fire to the point I stopped. After the 4th time taking it to the service department without a resolution I am trying to get my money back. I am so heart broken and disappointed in the brand. Now I have owned the my Jeep for over a year. I still go to the dealer mechanic almost every month and always for something related to the computer system. For months Jeep claimed that they remote systems were not theirs but when we went through arbitration one of the service managers admitted that all systems including remote were part of uconnect which was a jeep product. Presently I am still trying to get Jeep and att to get the wifi system to work. I had to call the dealer for weeks before I asked for a higher up and then they finally took my call. The only other complaint besides this car staying at the Mechanic more than with me is that it is hard to get in and out of the driver seat. I have the seat pushed all the way back and still it is hard to get my knees across into the driver position and I am only 5'8" which is not that tall. I just hit over 8,000 miles after over a year because this car stayed in the mechanic shop so many times. The computer still has some problems but they are a lot better than they were at least it starts and stays running.

Leaking Oil
I bought a brand new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, It has 2501 miles on it, and it's in the shop waiting for a new motor, that is on back order for 2 months. Problems with the block, had some manufacturer errors, there are some bubbles in the casting. The oil of course leaked out these bubbles. Called the Jeep company, I get a case number and told I will be called back, on the next business day. Still haven't received a return call. Finally heard back from the Jeep (Chrysler) Company, Talked to the Case Manager. The engine was expedited and the shop received the motor in about 3 days, instead of 2 months. I let them know I was very unhappy and I wanted to trade this vehicle for another new vehicle because I did not want to deal with potential future problems after replacing the motor. Needless to say, that didn't happen. I was basically told that they would do nothing more, no swapping it for another vehicle, no buying it back, unless it became a legal matter. But I was more than welcome to talk to the sales department of one of their dealers and see what kind of deal they could do for me. (So basically trade it in). I went and picked up the Jeep, and traded it in is exactly what I did, and it wasn't with a Chrysler Corporation. I will never buy any kind a vehicle from the Chrysler Corporation again.

This is my 8th Jeep
I lease a new Jeep Grand Cherokee every three years and I have never had a disappointing year. Jeep has always been, for me, an excellent vehicle to drive and, with that said, the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude is no exception. I am pleased in every way, except one. The one item that is very annoying is the engine start-stop function when the brakes are applied. I understand the logic behind this function but, if anyone at Jeep Corporate is listening, PLEASE reprogram the override button so that it does not reset itself every time the engine is cycled on and off. Potential customer's should definitely test drive the Jeep before purchase or lease and determine for themselves if they can tolerate the start-stop function. The salesman generally do not mention this function unless asked directly.

Great SUV for the money
Bought the 2018 altitude package in 4x4. Like the look and features without being over the top (wish it had the panoramic sunroof and hitch). Wife drives it around town with the kids and lives it. I drive it on nights, weekends, and trips when we all are together. Tech is great and convenient and the ride is smooth as butter. Cant wait to take it in the snow. Transmission seems a little jerky at low speeds and the auto off feature is annoying. Thankfully it can be turned off. Unfortunately it defaults to on at start up. Storage is great and pickup is pretty snappy. Sound system is amazing. Uconnect is easy but has some gimmicky features. Gas mileage is so-so. Unsure if my system is not calibrated properly yet because I have so few miles but I drove 2 hours all hwy and the mileage was 21.7 on the screen. that's too low. Costs high 60s to fill up at $2.80 per gallon. The seat was comfy the first hour but I think I didn't have it adjusted to be fine for the whole trip. Started to feel uncomfortable. Wheel and drive position were picture perfect. Wish butt would have felt good. Will update as I find things.

RDS TOY
Just returned from a trip to WV, and my Grand Cherokee performed flawlessly. This is my first Jeep (formerly a Ford lover), and I am not saying this because it's mine, but Jeep has don their homework on this vehicle. We drove over 700 miles on out trip, but I did not experience any sore back, arms or buttitis. Most comfortable and easiest to drive vehicle I have ever owned. Fuel mileage was 22mpg overall and the air ride suspension is wonderful, especially when getting in or out. Up date, still in love with my Jeep. I have only one complaint and Jeep is working on it, the transmission when cold shifts really hard into reverse or drive, depending on parking angle, but my dealer stated that the transmission needs to learn my driving habits. Taking it to the dealer for the fourth time this week. Other than that, it has performed flawlessly.

the higher the tech, the more possibilities for er
2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Loved the vehicle at first sight. Before making the purchase I did a lot of researching online and through family/friends and co workers who may or may not have owned a jeep and/or if they knew someone with one. It was a 70/30 positive feedback. So my wife and I decided to go for it. 2/15/18 Brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude. drove off the lot with 5-10 miles on it. Again, loved it. Everything about it was just what we wanted. Perfect size for a new young couple with kids, storage was perfect. Even our 5YO son liked the vehicle. 3 months into the vehicle, I started to notice some minor tech issues. At first I thought it was some kind of fluke, but it was not. Consistent tech issues. GPS wasn't accurate, safety air bag light came on, twice my rear view camera did not turn on when trying to reverse. And just recently 5/30/18 while backing out of my driveway, emergency brakes locked up on me. Nothing behind me or around me, it just locked up thinking I was going to crash into something. Sensor for the gas pump was broken. The sensor would turn the pump off thinking the tank is full when it really was not. First time Jeep owner and I was honestly looking forward to keep this vehicle til she dies. Could be our luck that we purchased one that had more issues. Overall disappointed, it being a brand new vehicle makes it even worst

Getting Jiggy with it.
A wide variety of models. I chose the Trailhawk with the driver assist radar technology, it had all the options of a Mercedes GLE, but nearly 40% less cost. I drive about 25k miles a year so leasing was not an option. the car is top notch. I especially find the Trailhawk's signature racing stripes on a White JGC with dark gray matt finish wheels, my pick of the litter. I will say however, after owning it for 3 months, i have experienced MPG is 15.5 STREET and 20 HWY. Also, there seems to be a glitch with the radio. It keeps displaying my local weather and surf report every 1/2 hour or so. It's annoying but more so distracting. forcing me to close the popup window on the screen each time. The dealer keeps telling me they are aware of the problem and a software update is forthcoming. Overall, with the rebates and incentives, you get your bang for the buck even if it's going cost you a little extra at the pump.

LEMON! Willing to put your family at risk!
BUYERS BEWARE!!! Especially those with families!!! Had a 17 Grand Cherokee. It would shut off while driving. It happened more than once and it was not throwing a code nor could they replicate the problem. It was elevated to FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automotive) after I refused to take the vehicle back after no repair attempt was made and i was just told to take the car back. I thought if Jeep knew it was a safety issue they would absolutely help us out! I just wanted another car to live out the life of my loan or credit as a trade in. No solution was offered they just told me it needed to happen again while they drove it and I was told to pick it up. Their solution was to have me and my two babies, under 3, drive around and replicate it then have it towed in....if we didn’t die first!!! We ended up selling it to car max, apparently according to Jeep there was no problem. That’s not a good business practice to put small children in danger to make a buck. We also called the dealership to see if they would just take it back and be even, they said no. Wonder why. We lost about $13,000 in the form of our trade in, money down, payments made for a year and then had to pay $1,100 just to get rid of the car. I cannot believe how money hungry this company is. It makes me sad, I never thought such a well known dealer would treat good customers like this. So now i want to let future good customers know how they do business.

Cut-Price Range Rover
This is a review of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with the 5.7 hemi (there was no option for this in the drop-down menu above) with the upgraded Quadra Drive II 4x4 system. I wanted a commute vehicle that could also handle my frequent off-road excursions, that would be comfortable and convenient for everyday use, carry four adults easily, and yet not be too bulky off-road. I was skeptical about purchasing a product from FIAT Chrysler as combining two companies famous for poor quality and poor reliability didn't seem like a great way to produce vehicles you can depend on and certainly FCA doesn't seem to have much confidence either because they only provide a 36 month/36,000 mile warranty. But I couldn't afford a Range Rover and the standard SUV isn't any use off-road, so that left a very limited range of choices. I'd already dismissed buying a Jeep Wrangler as I've zero interest in returning to the 1970s. So that left the Grand Cherokee Overland or a new Land Rover Discovery or a used Toyota Land Cruiser. So far in 8 months of ownership I've put 14,000 miles on the vehicle of which around 600 have been off-road in a variety of conditions. The navigation system has many flaws (for example, if I'm using navigation then chances are I'm not familiar with the area, so why tell me "obstruction ahead between X road and Y road?" Why not say "obstruction ten miles ahead"? Once I got informed about an accident more than 100 miles ahead of me, which was hilariously useless). The puddle-lamps are on the mirrors, which means when you step out of the vehicle you can't see what is under your feet. And the rear stowage space is modest, as befits a midsized vehicle. But overall I've been impressed by the Jeep, especially as the 5.7 hemi provides unstressed power and torque for any situation. I opted for the upgraded 4-wheel drive Quadra Drive II and full off-road package and would recommend that to anyone planning more than a picnic-style trail hop. I wish rock rails had been optional for the Overland but instead they cost me $1,000 to purchase and install. It's early days and doubtless FCA will ensure I spend a significant chunk of change on repairs, especially after the vehicle crosses the 36,000 mile mark, but so far I've been more pleased with the vehicle than I expected to be. It's supremely comfortable even on long (800-miles per day) journeys, it handles the trails very well, and the infotainment is acceptable. The auto heating/cooling feature is totally unpredictable, sometimes activating itself at a particular temperature and at other times going well below or above without any activation occurring, but manual activation requires only a few blips though the sub-menus. I haven't yet put the vehicle into deep water, but it should handle 24" without too much difficulty provided the door seals hold. For people just wanting an SUV for the school run, a rear-wheel lower option Grand Cherokee should suffice, but for people like me who want comfort with serious trail capability, getting the optional Quadra Drive II is a must-have. I also recommend fitting a winch for those infrequent but annoying times when you really, really need one.

Ridiculous amount of power, but great daily driver
I thought about purchasing this car for quite some time before I pulled the trigger. I did not want a car that had too much power to be an enjoyable daily driver. However, the Trackhawk is fun to drive when you want to experience the 707 HP engine. It also drives like a "normal" Grand Cherokee (albeit with worse fuel efficiency) when you are tooling around town running errands. The AWD makes this all possible. You never feel like there is too much acceleration for the tires to handle. Very comfortable seats. Nice level of technology - Apple Car Play/ Android Auto, Blind spot monitoring etc... Long term quality is a concern because this is an FCA product after all. I purchased an extended 8 year/100K mile warranty to sleep better at night for $2,000+.

Nothing positive about this vehicle
This vehicle had a faulty steering module from the factory and the dealership from which I bought it refused to address it. I had to take it to another dealer to have it replaced. Then, immediately following that issue, the info-tainment center went berserk on me: The radio stations began randomly changing, the language settings began randomly changing, the climate controls began shifting between settings, the seat heater and steering wheel heater began coming on and going off at random. Then, once this issue was addressed, the bluetooth connectivity began working randomly, and the Apple Carplay began working randomly. I can make phone calls through the system, and sometimes the recipient can hear me, and sometimes they cannot. I have less than 5000 miles on this vehicle and so far it is the worst vehicle I've ever purchased, and I have received the worst service of any dealer with which I've ever worked. Update 02/2021 (since Edmunds asked): I’ve had the vehicle for just over two years, and the negatives to owning a Jeep have all to do with the service departments, and dealerships. This will be the last Jeep brand product that I purchase.

Three Grand Cherokee's a Charm?
Currently driving a 2018 Summit after two Overland's. and very happy with the cars. Having owned 3 BMW 5's and a 330i Turbo Hard Top convertible I was impressed with the steering and handling of the Jeep, as well as the braking, which I found to be comparable to the Beemers. The operation of the Uconnect system does not require a Phd that was required in the BMW and my wife's Lexus. Everyone who has been in the Summit find's it hard to believe they are in a Jeep,(the car is black with a dark sienna interior). Finally my friend who owns an auto body shop and has an exclusive repair contract with Rolls Royce and Bently said I saved $25,000 plus with the Jeep vs BMW or Mercedes.

It just keeps getting better.
First of all I have 5.7 Liter V8 which isn’t shown in you model selector. Next the improvements from my 2014 are many and substantial. Absolutely love this Jeep, quiet, extremely well appointed and despite your editors comments I find the seats excellent and comfortable even after a ten hour drive. Uconnect is awesome but hate the need to use a USB connection to use CarPlay. Update: Four years in and still loving it. Towed our 24ft travel trailer all over the country. Five years in and the JGC keeps impressing me. Nothing but oil changes and just one unscheduled trip to dealer to replace the battery. Still going strong after 5 years with no unscheduled maintenance. Remarkable as a lot of miles towing a 4600# trailer.

Fun Ride
Very agressive and torqy, nice sounding exhaust. Very fun to drive, lots of technology and buttons to push. It is a sports vehicle and rides a little rough in sport mode and very rough in agressive mode. I do not mine the rough ride because it handle very well with the stiffer settings. Gas mileage is around 12 mpg in sport mode and a little worse in aggressive mode. Eco mode I was able to get about 21 mpg on the highway, driving it like it was a Prius. Overall, I am very satisfied with the vehicle!

Versatility
Have a summit with 5.7L engine. Love it. Have power to drag Trees in mud. And comfort and fuel range to go to Florida several times a year. 22 mpg highway and over 500 miles before I need to stop and refuel. Love the air ride suspension and sound system. And ability to raise suspension to drive over rocks and brush.

why not order the steak
I've owned 7 Jeeps over a 30 Year span. Started with a 1962 Willys wagon, to a 1967 CJ pickup, to a 1990 Cherokee limited, to a 1994 Grand Cherokee Laredo,to a 1999 Grand Cherokee Limited, to a , to a 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland, to my present 2018 Grand Cherokee Limited. They were all outstanding Vehicles when compared to any other comparable offered at the time by the other manufacturers. I've Strayed from the Brand twice with a Toyota 4 runner and a GMC Envoy. Some reliability issues made me think maybe i could do better with another brand but their short comings compared to the jeep brought me back both times. My 2011 was by far the most problematic one of all but warranty covered most issues the first 3 years and i Kept Her for 4 more years and then multiple problems with the air ride suspension and AC unit and power steering unit etc. ( not to mention avg 12mpg from the 5.7 Hemi ) made me let her go. So what did I do ? I went back out a bought the 2018 GC Limited with all the same options except the Air Ride suspension and with the 3.6 V6 (avg 18 mpg so far ). Yea the Hemi had more punch but not so much that i'm missing it. Yea this one rides slightly rougher without the air ride but still a very comfortable ride for a 4500 lb SUV, and i wont be dropping thousands of dollars to have it fixed 4 or 5 years down the road. Reliability right out of the box so far ( currently 12,000 miles has been great ) No Issues yet. I usually keep my Vehicles 5-7 years plus. I believe no matter what man made machine you buy It will have its own set of qwerks and mechanical issues. Sure some more than others but regardless It is my opinion that Jeep Grand Cherokee is the best most capable most luxurious SUV that can be driven off road, get down and dirty when needed, get you through the worst of weather conditions ( i live in the N. East ) and still make you look good wearing your Suit and Tie to a Fancy Restaurant and handing the Valet attendant your keys. You would have to spend more money to get anything close to what these Vehicles offer and even then chances are the jeep will out perform it. Update : Now its 4 years old and has 29000 miles on it and haven't had a single issue. I will be purchasing another when the prices of Vehicles come back down to reality

Happy with it, but some “Chrysler” fit-and-finish
I’ve had my JGC Limited for 14 months. Done long road trips along with around town stuff in all weather (live in Iowa). I am generally happy with it. I’ve had my eye on a JGC for a while and finally pulled the trigger and don’t regret it. Performance is good enough for what I’d expect from an SUV. Very pleased in AWD in snow. Seats are VERY comfortable, which is huge for me. Many cars now have short/unsupportive front seats. This car is clearly made for someone 6’1”. I intentionally chose NOT to get the sunroof and there’s tons of headroom, and I have the seat up about as high as it will go. Great road trip car. My only real complaint is just some of the general fit and finish stuff. I have a rattle coming from somewhere behind my dash that they tried to fix once and didn’t. I’ve had plastic molding come loose at a couple spots around the trunk and back doors. Connectivity on the USB port can be finicky. I’ve had a few Japanese cars and never had these kinds of issues. If you’re a guy looking for a “guy’s SUV” in the $40-50k range it’s a great choice. The only comparable alternative to me was the 4Runner, and the headroom in that car was AWFUL and made it a non option for me. Having owned it for 14 months I’d definitely make the same choice. I kinda knew that with a Jeep some of the quality and fit and finish stuff was going to be a wild card. I’m just glad there’s been no engine/trans issues. Oh - last thing...the auto stop/start thing might be the most annoying aspect to any car I’ve ever owned. By default, I just turn it off every time I start the car so it’s not a huge deal anymore. It kicks in WAY too fast (like, at stop signs). Jeep needs to put some kind of 4 second delay on it or something. It’s awful. Not sure why it can’t be a permanent turn off...it’s dumb that it ya to be shut off every time I start the car, but I’ve got used to it.

5.7 4x4 trailhawk 41,000 miles
I bought this brand new and with 3800 miles it’s in the shop. Back up camera won’t work and can not turn off the radio. I think it’s a bad mother board. My new delight is when it starts up and I shift in to reverse or drive the trans clunks in to the gear. This trans will not go 100,000 miles before it’s dead. I have ALL the options except the dvd/cd player. It’s a stiff ride and not made for long hauls. The sales rep said it’s 87 octane, but the owners manual says for the 5.7 it needs 89 octane. If you tow, like I do, not a good choice. The trans will shutter and the Jeep will grind and stop. High cost to owner and its junk. So, now that I have 41,000 on this thing I have more of a solid take on this thing. First off, this is not your old Jeep. The old Jeeps were made much differently. It’s way over priced like all cars, but the value still is not there. It’s in the dealership often for sound banging sound or the console is acting up and needs rebooting. If you haul anything the brake system will make it a task if you try to back up. I would never buy this brand again. It’s very expensive to maintain.

A Driveway To Far failed
I took possession of the BRAND new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 Overland on 23 October 2017. Being the original owner of a 1980 CJ5 , I was attracted to the beautiful leather appointments of the OVERLAND, and its awesome Air ride system. The first problem I had was when she needed gasoline for the very first time, I couldn't get the fuel door open. I was at the gas pump struggling, when I remembered I had piece of metal coat hanger. I used this to unlatch the fuel door, and fill her up. Undaunted as a CJ OWNER , I decided to not close the door fully again, and have them repair it when It was time for her first oil change. On January 8th just after a beautiful snow fall, I was dressed and leaving for work, I headed out of the driveway, ALL OF A SUDDEN...... I heard a blood curdling ~~ CLANK, CLANKETY CLANK, BANG BANG sound, and ALL the LIGHTS turned AMBER on the DISPLAY.... The service 4wheel light came on, just after a message flashed" FOUR WHEEL DRIVE UNAVAILABLE" then the Traction control warning light glowed red. It was then that I discovered I was stuck in the driveway ..."JEEP DOWN" "MAN DOWN" I phoned the 1800 number and they dispatched a wrecker. The wrecker driver called and asked me if I had 40 feet of room, because other callers had gotten themselves into a pickle(due to the snow). The wrecker driver and I had a colorful word exchange, before he handed me off to another company. 90 minutes later I was riding in a flat bed on our Merry way to the Dealership in which I had purchased her. I picked up a loaner and was on my way- Week #one ....I was notified that it was the ,"main drive module" that had failed. Week# two ...I was notified that it was the" transfer case module " that had failed week # 2.5 I was notified that it was the MAIN SHAFT that had failed... and in week ## 3 , 24 January '18.. she was ready to be picked up... When I got her home, I discovered there was GREASE on my weather tek floor mats, Grease on the carpet, grease on the door panel and the center arm rest...I notified service via text, and since there was no response , I made some pics, and began cleaning. The dealership did give me two loaners, one of which was an enterprise Grand Cherokee...BRAVO !! They did stay in contact with me....I have NOT since DRIVEN HER.....but plan to....and I will keep the Blog updated....Oh they fixed the GAS DOOR( I think)....

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Disappointed in this 1.
We had a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and bought it used, we did not have any issues with the vehicle, just normal wear. We decided to take the step to purchase a new vehicle this time around. We purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude, we had the vehicle for 8 months and have 7600 miles on it when we were stopped at a light and when it turned green, we did not move at all! It was the transmission! Very disappointed in this vehicle.

Like Driving a Super Luxury Vehicle
I researched several SUVs in this class and kept coming back to the Jeep Grand Cherokee. For the money, I don't think you can find the features, ride and appearance on any other vehicle. It's a smooth, sure-footed ride with a hushed cabin, intuitive ergonomics, and looks that kill. Gas mileage is OK but we're just getting started, so we shall see. Braking is a tad soft, but I am getting used to it. The Altitude model gives the JGC a fierce look. I've already received many compliments on the wheels, badging and grill. While it is way too early to tell how reliability is on this vehicle, I am very happy with my purchase and highly suggest you check out the JGC!

Terrible Experience in Memphis
I have less than 5,000 miles on my Jeep Grand Cherokee Sterling edition and it has been in the shop more days than the 8 other new cars I have owned combined. First it was an oil leak, then the engine had to be replaced (not even 5k miles!). I didn’t even get my car home from picking up my Jeep after the engine is replaced and the electronic throttle control light comes on and the Jeep won’t go over 20 mph. My Jeep gets towed back to the dealer. I don’t know if the dealer (Wolfchase Chrysler Dodge Jeep) is incompetent, the car is a lemon, or both. Additionally, the dealer has no loaners, so they send me to Enterprise (they refused to come pick me up, despite their ads and relationship with the dealer) and I am now driving a Dodge minivan. On the car itself, the automatic engine cutoff when you stop is highly annoying and dangerous. You can turn it off, but you have to do so every time you start the car. I forgot twice and was nearly in a wreck both times. You stoppat a stop sign, hit the gas, the Jeep hesitates as the engine has to start before it goes anywhere. With tight traffic, it can be a hazard.

Massive V8 Horsepower-Torque.Comfortable Ride.
I knew going in that the gas mileage would be bad. But I want that V8 power that we had back in the 70's. In that regard, there is absolutely no disappointment here. The 360 horsepower and 390 pound feet of torque available with the push of your big toe will get you up to highway speed quickly and effortlessly. If you really put your foot into it, the engine will literally roar. It's not like the turbo charged 4 cyclinders, or even the supercharged V6's. This thing screams like only a Hemi will do. The feeling is addicting. It launches this 2 1/4 ton vehicle with authority! The first time you do it, it's a little intimidating. I could go on all day about this, but let's move on. The shifts are crisp and well placed at medium acceleration. No complaints. At city speeds, the shifts can be a little off when the vehicle is cold. First gear hangs on too long and everything takes a while to come together until the vehicle warms up. For an American vehicle, its still not bad. It doesn't come close to the precision shifts of my wifes Acura. Nor does it have the tight or solid feel that you get with a Honda or Acura transmission. But it's a Jeep. It can do things other SUV's can't do. This thing will push you through 10 inches of snow and 2 foot drifts. It won't leave you stranded at a stop light not being able to walk through the several inches of ruts that get left behind after major snow storms that we get in the upper midwest. If you need to hit some heavy trails, it'll do it. When I'm in the Jeep. I know I have the performance, comfort and ability to overcome any obstacles I may run into along the journey. Not least of which is that the Harman Kardon 19 Speaker (More like 12 Speakers, but that's marketing for you) 910 Watt system will rock you through rush hour. And the well-sealed windows and Active Noise Canceling will drown out the annoying assault of noise that surrounds you in daily commuting. If I have to hear noise, I want it to be MY noise. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland V8 is expensive for most people. Me included. But, you are getting good things for that hard earned scratch. Again.... Performance? Awesome! Comfort? Supreme! Handling? Meh....it's more or less a "truck", but a well handling truck. Then there's the look of the vehicle. This may be polarizing to some. But for the most part, I think it can be agreed upon that this is really an attractive vehicle. The body lines are well thought out and designed. The length to width ratio creates a sense of strength and purpose. You can take pride in ownership of this vehicle. They are desirable. Not everybody is fortunate to be able to acquire one. Let alone the Overland model with the adjustable air suspension, top end stock audio, and this level of performance. Now the downside. This is my second Jeep Grand Cherokee. My first was a 2015 Limited. I loved that vehicle as well. Right up to the time some idiot broad sided my rear passenger side and just deflated my feeling about the vehicle and caused vibration in the vehicle at speeds over 65 MPH, that could not be remedied. But before that, the vehicle had a coolant smell after each use. I had the radiator replaced and it still had the leaky radiator smell. This 2018 Overland has the same issue. After use, there is strong coolant smell. Is this a design issue with the block and manifold materials? Are they simply cheaping out on their radiators? It's something I would look in to further on my next Grand Cherokee purchase, but I haven't seen any consistency online when it comes to complaints about this issue. So maybe I've just had some bad luck in that regard. There was also one time where the vehicle had sat idle for 3 weeks and the air suspension had leaked on the front passenger side. This causes an alert in the dash Message Center. The message indicated the vehicle need to be repaired immediately. I had just purchased the vehicle. It was a Certified Vehicle, which in Mopar speak, means very little. You don't get any kind of bumper to bumper warranty unless you pay for it. So it wouldn't be covered. I do have a "free" Lifetime Powertain Warranty, but nothing more. The vehicle only had 30000 miles on it. It had just gone out of warranty 2 months earlier. Anyway, I took a shot on driving slowly down the road, turning on the performance mode of the vehicle, which drops the vehicle down for aerodynamics. All of the suspension on each wheel dropped down. Great! at least the vehicle was now level. I then took it out of performance mode and back into standard driving mode, at which point the vehicles air suspension increased in height at all four wheels and leveled. It actually "fixed" itself. So no towing fee, shop diagnostic fee, suspicious repair fee and massive inconvenience of not having my vehicle. It's been 5 months now and the issue hasn't resurfaced. So hopefully it was a sticky valve or BCM voltage glitch and this won't happen again. I'm hopefull. All that said. I would still buy this vehicle again. I'm very happy with the feel, the size, the performance, the comfort and the look of the vehicle. No vehicle is perfect, and I’m probably the exception when it comes to vehicle reliability. So take my particular issues with a grain of salt. I’d say the odds are about 95% that you would be very happy with your purchase. But get the Bumper to Bumper warranty for the first 18 months. If anything is going to happen, it’ll happen in that time.

Looks great! But worried about LT reliability.
Pros: ► Aesthetically very pleasing with what I would consider a timeliness look. I like the WK2 models even better than the new 5th gen WL models that came out in 2021. ► Love the Heritage Edition 20" two-tone wheels, by far my favorite of any JGC wheel option over the years! ► Well-equipped with lots of creature comforts (too many to list). I especially like the safety and convenience package (adaptive cruise control, parallel park assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, etc). ► Uconnect 8.4 system is easy to use, decent sized, and well thought out. ► Pentastar V6 engine is more powerful AND more economical than the V6 on a Toyota 4Runner. Add-ons: ► Mopar smoke-colored bug deflector on the hood looks nice and helps prevent rock chips on the edge of the hood. ► Mopar roof rack cross-rails are aerodynamic, sturdy, and a good bit cheaper than Thule. Bonus: the end caps have little Jeep "easter eggs" on them. ► Mopar rubber floor mats have deep grooves and are non-slip. A must-have IMO. ► Mopar retractable cargo cover keeps tool kit and anything else I need to store out-of-sight, less likely target for petty thieves (big city problems). Cons: ► Transmission shudders when shifting into drive or reverse after a cold start. Worried about long-term reliability and high repair cost reported by other owners. This is the second WK2 model I've owned, both with the same issue. ► Gas pump at certain stations repeatedly shuts off - there is something wrong with the filler neck/evaporation system in these vehicles. I often have to fill up manually without engaging the auto-fill lever on the pump handle, which is super annoying. This is the second WK2 model I've owned, both with the same issue. ► Low quality leather seat bottoms started cracking even before the warranty period was over. If you can afford it, I'd recommend upgrading to Katzkin aftermarket option. ► Uconnect infotainment system touch screen has a well-documented history of delamination issues. Mine was luckily already replaced by the original owner when I bought it, but I'm worried that it may eventually happen again. This is the second WK2 model I've owned, both with the same issue. ► Auto stop-start is a bunch of CAFE-driven nonsense considering that it would take longer than the life of the auxiliary battery (~3 yrs) to recover its replacement cost in fuel savings ~($120-150) while the engine is at idle. I'd rather just have 1 big battery and no stop-start. ► Battery replacement is a PITA - both the main one and the aux are under the front passenger seat in a very tight space.

The
Just picked up a 2018 Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4. Other options included blind spot detection / sun roof. Incredible vehicle, I upgraded for a 2009 Saturn Vue so it was quite a step up. I really enjoy having Carplay in - iOS 12 implementation of Carplay allows Google Maps to show up on the screen, which is an upgrade over Apple Maps. The 3.6L V6 is pretty efficient, I'm averaging just around 20 MPG. I researched the vehicle the better part of a year - the Grand Cherokee at this point in the cycle has 'good bones' - a lot of the quirks from when the vehicle was originally launched in 2014 have been worked out. Interior layout is well thought out, materials & fit and finish are high quality. Very pleased with my purchase, it's been a great vehicle in the 1500 miles I've driven it thus far.

Wanted a Wrangler or Grand Cherokee. Easy choice.
Hi folks. I was driving a 2015 Lexus GS350 AWD and was bored to death. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t suffering in any way; it’s a fast, comfortable car. If that’s what you want you can get a loaded Honda Accord 2 liter turbo with 252 HP for $25,000 less, though it won’t be all-wheel drive or have the Lexus name, which I don’t care about. So after about 6 months I was missing having an SUV wishing I’d bought won. Fast forward to 2018. The new Wrangler JK was out, and I watched all the videos. Same engine but more civilized interior and compliant ride. I saw it at the NY automobile show and was salivating. People couldn’t wait to get into it, especially kids. At the same time, I was intrigued by the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, which debuted in 2017. This is the most rugged of the Grand Cherokee models. Now I should point that I don’t go off road, though I did run over someone’s flowerbed once. But I still wanted a highly capable SUV for northeaster winters and skiing. My favorite features are: • Kevlar-reinforced tires! I know I won’t be in a shootout anytime soon but that sounded pretty cool • Huge panoramic sunroof • Highly bolstered leather seats from the SRT—the limited does not have these • Steering-wheel mounted controls to make calls or send texts without sacrificing safety • Plenty of power • Absolutely outstanding comfort and ride (more on this in a moment) • Standout black hood decal • Beautiful color scheme with no chrome—very bold and eye catching • Great standard sound system • Heated steering wheel, and seats front and rear • Reclining rear seats • Tons of cup holders and USB ports front and rear • Blind spot monitor (not available in all Grand Cherokee models) • Roof rails As I said, I had wanted a new Wrangler JL and I drove it. It’s a very unique vehicle, but it’s not in the same category as the Grand Cherokee. Not a bad thing! But if you’re deciding on the 2, as I was, you need to drive them both. The Wrangler has the vaguest steering I’ve ever experienced. You have to drive it to understand. Over about 60 miles an hour it sort of sways from one side of the lane to the other, and you have to constantly course correct. It makes sense not to have tight steering when you are driving on rock trails, but that’s not what I do. Also, there’s quite a bit of wind noise. The Wrangler is an incredible vehicle and owners absolutely love them. Resale value is among the highest of any vehicle, and it looks awesome. I had a choice to make. That choice escaped when I drove the Trailhawk. We drive 4 hours to see our son in school and I honestly could not see driving it in the Wrangler. Too much work. The Trailhawk drives just beautifully, and you ride in great comfort and security. For me it was an easy choice and I could not be happier. If I had the money would I buy both? Quite possibly! Now, it is a Jeep so it’s not free from problems. The first recall, on the cruise control, was after a month. Also, the key fob is not very sensitive. Meaning when it’s in your pocket and you go to lock the doors it might not work. I often have to take it out and hold it by the door. By way of contrast, my wife never takes her Honda key out of her purse and her 2017 CRV always unlocks and operates flawlessly. Also, the pop-up weather alerts are annoying and you cannot stop them. Distracting. I believe this is a Sirius feature. I did splurge and buy the $3,000 lifetime warranty. I know, I know, it’s a ton of money. But again, it’s a Jeep. The peace of mind knowing that all engine, transmission, and electronic parts are covered forever is worth it to me. I may get other vehicles down the road but I’ll always have this beauty. It’s a keeper. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Excellent vehicle
I leased this vehicle in 2018 and I just bought it after the lease. I know this vehicle and its beautiful and the Color is just right. I got the White wit the Black 20 inch Wheels and put red Caliber covers on it and people thought I had a SRT. The vehicle is highly dependable and that is what I needed. Im satisfied with this one.

Solid SUV
I have put about 80,000 km on my GC Summit with a V6 and with the Harmon Kardon sound system--it has met my expectations. The V6 provides enough power for towing and acceleration--it is also pretty quiet which I really like (especially with the HK system). Gas consumption is just more than my previous V6 2008 Escape even though the GC is much heavier (it much better than the V8 hemi). The GC is almost in a class of its own as it is much more 4WD capable than many other SUVs and is less expensive than Land Rovers or similar. It would be interesting to see a review of mid life SUVs with respect to reliability and customer satisfaction.

Low Quality
December 2017 I traded in a car and purchased a brand new 2018 Grand Cherokee Altitude. The car has been unreliable over the last 5 years. Currently I have 40K miles and have had the following work done outside of regular maintenance: new battery (19K miles), new steering wheel (heated steering has never worked), check engine light (torn hoses), new touch screen (completely delaminated) and most recently a new radiator, thermostat and hoses all before my 6 year financing was up. Luckily during the sales process I had an odd feeling that I should get an extended warranty and bought the 7 year/75,000 so Jeep has had to pay to fix this junk car. Jeep used to make quality vehicles, my brother drives my old 2003 Grand Cherokee and my dad has a 2004 Wrangler that have had fewer issues than my car. It is unfortunate because I love the Jeep brand, but I guess having a car for 5 years without issue is too much to ask for.
Looks good but poor quality
Originally went in to buy a Wrangler but fell in love with the look of this while I was walking on the lot. I wish I hadn't. Mere days after purchasing, I was trying to show some of the features to a friend and the Jeep shut off. Battery was defective and took 4 days to replace. My car was in the shop for 8 of my first 12 days of owning it due to a chip in the paint that they couldn't get right, in addition to the battery issue. Over time, the navigation would put me in the wrong location and the time would steadily increase one or two minutes incorrect. Eventually, my GPS had me located 20 miles off the coast of New Jersey in the middle of the ocean (I'm in Maryland) and the time was off by about 30 minutes. I took it in for service and they said I needed a new radio. I've been working with Chrysler and they've recommended replacing the radio 4 times, after the first 3 attempts were all "defective" per their "expertise." I had been working on this case for almost 4 months and finally just pulled the plug and sold it. Terrible customer service and a lack of empathy for someone who spent $40K on one of their vehicles. Steer clear of this one. Jeep has good brand recognition from the olden days but quality has dropped tremendously.
Most exciting I have ever owned !
I have owned the Mercedes S 65. Cost $148,000. Very nice first class. I also owned A Porsche Cayenne GTS. It cost $125,000. Again nice quality SUV. But was bored with it in 2 years. This jeep SRT is a man’s car. cost $70,000. It is just as powerful or more powerful. Forget low profile tires. The jeep has full size tires rides. It has a masculine feeling compared to low-profile tires. The exhaust system has a sound Of POWER ! It’s not a “soccer moms” car. I DRIVE my Jeep, And it is indestructible at 20,000 miles with no service except change oil.

Continuous Rattle and seat issues
2018 Brand new Grand Cherokee. At 22 months the sunroof starting making a rattling noise continuously like someone was hitting a metal pipe on the glass. I told them that it's obvious the sunroof is the issue and needs to be replaced. After constantly bringing the vehicle for a total of 9 times they agreed to replace the sunroof. In between those times they blamed the following items on the rattle: passenger head rest, panels in the trunk, removed and reattached the front bumper, took the headliner down. Jeep kept my car over 3 months trying to fix the rattle. After the sunroof was replaced I drove it out of the lot only to hear a new rattle in the front passenger corner. Turns out the clips behind the dash were loose and they told me they have no idea why it did that because they have never taken the dash out. Add the fact that the seat kept creaking at every turn. Only took them 4 times until they basically changed the seat out. The climate control also sucks in this car and doesn't even come out hot and when you split it for the upper and feet area there is almost nothing coming out at your feet. Jeep Corporate got involved and their only solution was 5% off a new jeep. Why would I make the same mistake twice. I will never purchase another Chrysler vehicle. The car does drive well, has good HP and features but what's the point if you have the car falling apart around you. Way overpriced.

Awful start-stop and unconnect, unusable manual
This is my 3rd Jeep Laredo and this is the worst. The start-stop is terrible. It immediately turns the Jeep off when stopped, even if stopped at a stop sign for less than 1 second. There is no option to delay the start-stop so its a complete waste and I always have to turn it off. Another example - pull into a parking space and it turns off and then turns back on when put it in park. Bad lazy engineering. This is a Jeep, not a Honda. Didn't buy it for gas mileage or wanted camera assist parking that doesn't work properly and beeps if you turn it off. Overly paternalistic. Unconnect - If I am using a flash drive/mp3 player, the Unconnect always defaults to the beginning after the Jeep has been turned off. So, if I am listening to a book on tape and was listening to page 45, it starts at page one when the Jeep is turned off. Unnecessarily annoying. My 2014 Jeep audio system never lost it's place and there was no terrible start-stop or parking assist. Jeep should make a model without all these terrible options or just go back to being a Jeep. The owners manual is unusable. Every page is filled with CAUTION and WARNING messages like "don't put your hand in the engine fan blades" that its impossible to find useful information.

Trackhawk is uniquely fast and able
This car is ridiculously fast. Faster than any other SUV. Right foot to the floor and you're smiling. And go ahead and blow away that $160,000 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The engine is easily upgraded to 900+ HP if you want your 0-60 times down to 2.7 seconds, as quick as a ZR1 Corvette. And, it's a sleeper. I have a black one that attracts zero attention which is terrific while you're ripping around town with your foot in it.

Sad, things keep breaking on an otherwise good SUV
My second Grand Cherokee and while I like the styling and the value I have had too many issues to give it a positive rating. I had a major electrical failure after 2 months which could not be figured out after 3 trIps to the dealer and a month without its use. Finally determined a canon plug at production was poor. I have also had a rear seabelt fail twice and now my Uconnect screen has to be replaced due to a software corruption on an upgrade. Yes, the whole unit for a software issue... The Apple CarPlay is also unreliable and does not connect frequently. The bones of the vehicle are great but the electronics suck for reliability.

Disappointed
At first I liked the vehicle. I bought it used with 30,000 miles noticed the corner of the radio screen looked like it had gotten wet turns out that was the beginning of the “delaminating screen “ issue that Jeeps have. It’s out of warranty & Chrysler/Jeep won’t fix it because they say it’s company policy to fix it if I was the first owner but since I am the second owner I must spend $1500 to replace it. I paid $29,000 for this vehicle to have extras like heated seats & navigation and I am down to not even having a radio to listen to. A screen pops up asking if I want to change the phone settings and you cannot get that screw to go away therefore you cannot used anything and have to listen to a constant beeping as the radio self changes stations, from Xm radio to am/fm radio, sometimes the screen switches to the back up camera so while driving you are looking behind you which is dangerously distracting if you are able to use navigation it resets itself to the address you happen to be passing by at any given moment it will randomly call p we poke usually the first person on my contact list who has become used to getting hang up calls from me or it will call every person in my recent list which is also very distracting trying to hang up those calls quickly before someone Answers it constantly saves favorite songs & artist’s by itself and changes radio stations and goes through the preset stations constantly it’s a shame to have an expensive vehicle & it be this useless the check engine light has been on for months because of an emissions leak and I replaced the recommended part but the light comes back on
Spent a lot of time on research-not dissapointed
We spent a lot of time reviewing the options for a late-model, true 4WD vehicle that we wouldn't be afraid to take off-road that would also be a great long-distance driver. We also preferred to have more power and, since we were going to have to do cross-country drives we wanted to have adaptive cruise control. I test drove several different vehicles including the 2018 Toyota 4Runner TRD-Pro. The 5.7L V-8 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk was the obvious choice as soon as we test drove it. After 8 months of ownership and 3 round trips from the East Coast to the West Coast, and numerous shorter trips in between, we are more convinced than ever that the Jeep was the best choice.

Finally Purchased
I took the plunge on a 2018. Went for the overland over the trailhawk. Opted for more bells, whistles and luxury versus the go anywhere. For the amount of 4x4ing I will do the Overland should work. Everything is good except for annoying rattle in the drivers side door. The dealer will fix if they can.

Excellent Experience
In another two weeks, my 2018 GC High Altitude will have reached two years old. So far, I've been extremely happy with almost all aspects of the vehicle. So far I've found only two things I have any brief with. First, I was hoping it would give me better mileage than I'm currently getting considering that I do not drive the car aggressively at all. No matter how gently I drive the vehicle, I can't quite reach the official EPA estimates. Second, much as I love the start/stop function as a way of saving fuel, it seems to work very inconsistently and intermittently. Many times I'm stopped at a stop light and the engine doesn't shut off as it should. But apart from those two complaints, I really do like this vehicle and am very glad I made the purchase.

Awesome vehicle!
I test drove the Honda Pilot, the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Grand Cherokee. I test drove the Grand Cherokee last and it sold me. It was hands down no contest. I researched Edmonds.com for quite a while. For my driving style, the Grand Cherokee is the perfect fit. I researched the 3.6 V6 Pentax engine including a video on manufacturing, very powerful V-6! There is one feature in the car that I don't use, not yet. It is the automatic shut off when coming to stop and holding your brake pedal. During the breakdown period it is not good to subject the engine to repetitive starts versus saving gas. I am not sold on "regular gas', I fill it up with medium grade. No need for "premium gas".The leather seats are very comfortable and the lumbar support is excellent. The display screen is very intuitive and easy to use. The hatchback electronic feature is a great addition. One touch to open, one touch to close, it is that simple and effortless. I like to do basic maintenance in my car. This one is clear off the ground, no need to jack it up to drain the oil! Most importantly, where I live and when it snows I will not call sick at work that often because I can't get out of the neighborhood, I know the Jeep will get me out!
Awesome vehicle Held up well in a rear collision
We bought it used in 2019. Had absolutely zero problems and we travel a lot for business. Made it to 115,000 mi and was hit hard in the rear by another SUV at a stoplight. They were doing over 40 and didn't brake at all. Hit us hard enough we were knocked all the way through the light. Messed up the back end but it was drivable all 250 mi home. The other vehicle was towed. Hubby took one look at it and said he'd never buy anything but a Jeep again. Even the officer was impressed there wasn't more damage done.

I’ve had the Sterling Edition for a little over a month and love it. I’ve owned two GCs in the past and this is light years beyond my 2005. The only issue I’ve read about is the OEM tires (Bridgestone) aren’t great in the snow.

High Tech crash waiting to happen
Purchased 04-2018 First heavy rain between the wipers and the headlights Both myself and the passenger couldn't see the road. Terrible headlights and wipers! Purchased Rainex wipers and brighter headlights...wipers great headlights out of wack....took to dealer 22 times still a safety hazard...just can't see...the lights aren't bright enough...Called Lemon Law won $5000 out of court. Electrical Engineers that designed the dash need to be replaced. Tell me if this makes sense: If you turn on the NAV system you MUST first turn on the radio...then once the Map appears on the screen you have to MUTE the radio. If you turn the radio OFF you lose the MAP.....???? Hi Tech????? The entire dash is distracting....on my 2007 Focus and my 2005 Acura MDX if I wanted more heat I simply turned a knob towards the RED If I wanted to direct the airflow, I either slide the lever or touch the screen Not on this piece of junk....how many accidents did this cause. you must find the 'climate' icon.....then find the icon for air flow then find the UNLIT arrow that directs the inside temp then swerve to the left so you don't run into the telephone pole. Same for the Radio.....Focus and Acura: punch a button to change the station Jeep: If you don't have your screen 'ON' Push the radio knob....mute the radio....find the 'radio icon' select the new station.....swerve to avoid the tree. If I keep this piece of junk until my lease end I will probably need a new spine. I spend my pleasure ride avoiding even man hole covers because the tires are inflated to 36 psi as per instructions. the sun visors to about 6" short on each side. The windshield has hardly no tint and the dealer should have given me a pair of Ray Bans. Make sure you emergency brake is released because you hear a single beep PERIOD....if you miss it too bad. Going to take the loss and get rid of this piece of junk before I take down a telephone pole or tree. Will trade and take the loss. Update kept the vehicle only because COVID and inflation hike Used Cars 40%. Michelin tires were gone at 21,000 mi. Will sell soon when and if prices go back to normal

Don't bring a friend
My new jeep Grand Cherokee had the passenger side seat belt get stuck. Took it to the dealer and they said they would order the part. That was Dec 2018. The part is now due in March 15, 2019. I can't have a passenger in the front seat. The car has 5,000 miles and is now 7 months old. Every time the part does not come in they give me a new date. I've got a claim in the Jeep national office which is complete BS lip service. I will NEVER buy another jeep.
