GREAT TRUCK!
My second Jeep in two years. Better then the last one! Just went up to Big Bear California. Did great in the snow and rain, also took it out to Glamis Sand Dunes. Does well in the sand too! Rides great, looks great, new Boston Sound system is better the the old Infinity.
Definitly an Enjoyable Car
We bought our Jeep in Dec 2004 and got the great "employee pricing"so we got the loaded Lmtd. for only 33k. The navigation has gone out - twice. Rear wiper broke off - twice. Had leather seat re-done, etc. We have had a lot of problems with the car, but the car is a luxury vehicle at an economy price. We had a BMW which required constant care, this in comparison has not been a real problem. I do think the trans. is about to go though. It's been sticking a lot lately. But really, for the amount of time I spend in the car, it has held up pretty well. The chrome rims and inferno red color get looks all the time. Money in repairs has been reasonable so far, I don't think its worse than other cars.

Think Twice about Jeep Grand Cherokee
I am on my second Jeep Grand Cherokee now and will not purchase another. My first Jeep, a 2001 needed constant brake replacement and the transmission and transfer case both broke down. My 2005 Jeep currently has 37,500 miles and the mounts on the transfer case/transmission went out while I was driving and I was stranded at a busy intersection. Now, even though I have an extended warranty...Chrysler may not cover it. They also make you service the differentials every 12,000 miles at $300 each time...no other car company I called required this. The brakes on this car have also been replaced 3 times. I am done with Jeep.
watch out Toyota-Honda
This Jeep is better then all before. I owned a '97 and hated it. I drive mainly highway and snowy conditions so Quad-1 is fine for me. Room galore for my 6'-5" frame and big family. Cargo area is great, flip tray and hidden areas help, vents are great, standard speakers are fine for normal use. Jeep put exactly what they needed in this baby. If you are looking at Highlanders and Pilots, check this out. Looks and road feel plus the Quad system and suspension work like it should for most SUV owners who actually never leave the road!
Gentle power of the Hemi V8
I have the Hemi version, which to my surprise (on test drive) was more fun than 350hp supercharged Z3 i own. It is just plain fun to drive. Comfort and power in what ever combination you require to suit your mood that day.
Sorry, No More Jeeps
Great in snow which is why I needed it in the first place but overall quality is awful. This is not my first Jeep but will certainly be my last (especially since the new models are ugly, expect Liberty). Going on the second set of brake rotors which Jeep will not pay for! Has only 12K miles in 1.5 yrs. Grinding noise over bumps in cold weather which no one can figure why; white tire lettering chipping away; transmission shifts with a huge jolt; performance is good; gas mileage is bad (but not why I bought it anyway). It is fun to drive but I can see vehicle aging very quickly.
the vehicle for you
Traded in a 1998 6 cyl.Laredo. Have to tow 3500 pound boats occasionally and I need the extra oomph provided by Hemi. Solid feel, has authority, pep, and power...Storage space not as much as 1998, rear seats don't come up to put cables, etc. in. Overall, very happy. Glad to see Mercedes engineering that when cruising on the highway it goes back to 4 cylinder, sure helps mileage. . . Love the silver paint job. This will be a good seller, a real improvement and folks will be happy with the Hemi. AND, a lot of bang for the buck.
Short Life, Big Probem
I purchased on 3/24/05. On 3/29/05 after 147 miles, heard a tremendous "bang" underneath car. Entire car shook. Much clanking and banging under car before I got it to road shoulder. Towed to dealer. Front transfer case separated from chassis. Dealer does not know why. Chrysler now involved. Car has been in dealer shop since 3/29. Car rides well, 4.7 liter big enough to move it, comfortable, gas mileage unknown at this time. My 2002 Grand Cherokee with same engine delivered 15-16 city and 20 or slightly better on the open road.

very nice and quite fast
Overall great....but...
Great vehicle, but for some reason it overheated at 750 miles (since new) after a brief gas stop on 250 mile trip home. It was flatbedded to the nearest dealership. They found nothing wrong! Strange, since now I wonder if it might happen again. Dealership not helpful in explaining how this could have occurred. Otherwise, my 6 month experience with this Jeep (5.7 L) has been great.
please hold together
The limited is smooth on the road, polite off the road and comfortable inside. NAV, SAT radio and all the toys a must on long rides. Room up front is fine and has OK storage. So far the Limited is enjoyable is drive. There is nothing outstanding except for the HEMI. The kick-in response could be better. It does not respond like the BMW but the cost to power is really fine.
Can you say "Hemi"
The truck is redesigned to look more square and boxier with a tougher profile and even tougher engine...the Hemi. I've driven all the suv's in the $35-50K range and you definately get the most bang for your buck in the '05 Grand Cherokee Limited. So much power to spare you feel like your driving a BMW off the line, a lexus on the highway and a rover off- road. Overall, very sweet ride.
Red Jeep
This is the fourth Jeep we have owned and each time we buy a Jeep we think to ourselves that we will never have a better vehicle to drive. We have a bright red Limited with the GPS system but what really sold my husband on this Jeep was the Hemi motor. It is by far the best vehicle we have ever owned!
The Best Jeep Yet!
This is a great vehicle. Very solid feel and very quiet. Excellent Boston stereo. Excellent exterior and very good interior. Nice "thud" when you shut the door. Build quality seems very good.
WOW
We drove 3 SUVs based on what we liked based on exterior looks. After driving the Larado , we new this was the one to get. We have a lot of room with a smooth ride. This is the first Jeep we have owned. We usually purchased GM vehicles in the past but the Buick SUVS and the Chevy Equinox did not even come close to our expectations. We also like the 4 wheel drive since we live in the country.
GOOD CAR
The design of this car is ok; I have a blue one and I dont like the black side panels. It is a wonderful ride, handles very well and takes curves great. I had the 2003 -- this one has more power and is fun to drive. The interior design baffles me, nothing matches and the gear changer looks like it belongs in a BMW or something. Im upset that the 2003 radio told you the names of the songs on the radio and the 2005 doesn't.
Best Jeep ever
After having 5 Grand Cherokees in the past, I feel this one is by far the best. 05' Limited, 4.7 V8. Great engine, great seats, road feel, by far the best one. I was considering a German SUV this time, but I am glad I went and gave the Gr. Cherokee a test drive. My 02' was also a 4.7 V8 but this one feels much more powerfull. You won't be sorry.
Great SUV
I just got my Grand Cherokee and it is wonderful. I have never felt such a smooth ride. The power is another must have. I love it.
Stay clear
I unloaded my 05 limited, it had all the options and was my dream vehicle. I bought it at one year old to save a few bucks. I'm sorry i ever traded my 2000 Cherokee for it. In the two years I owned it it leaked from the sunroof badly, blew a rear seal and had to replace the rear. Had two computer modules go. If your having weird things go on it is usually one of the modules. Everything was replaced under warranty and seemingly fixed but the luster had worn off because of the poor quality and I sold it as soon as the warranty expired. If i had to pay for the repairs myself it would have cost over $3,000. Jeep and Chrysler is off my list to buy for good. Only had 37,000 miles, what a shame.
Bad Transmissions
Purchased this Jeep for Ohio Winters and comfort. Purchased with 53K miles. After one year of driving at 69K miles tranny was shot. Noticed vehicle slightly surging on inclines (was tranny slipping). Very upset with 12 pymts rebuild tranny cost $3K. Towed it back to dealer and traded on a 2010 Jeep Patriot. Do not buy this car! Hope our luck changes for the better at a healthy cost.
Great riding SUV
First Jeep product I've ever owned. So far, very happy with the JGC. Ride is very smooth, I have the 4.7 L v8 and has good response. Probably should have bought the HEMI but 4.7 is just fine. Best riding SUV I've ever had and quiet too. 10000 times better riding than my old Ford Explorer.
Best New Jeep
The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Hemi engine is the best automobile I have ever owned. It rides as nice as the BMW X5, yet has a friendlier feel to the interior. You feel like you are at a 5 star luxory hotel as you drive around town. At first I had some concerns, but within a few days they had faded, it was just buyers remorse. Now, I feel like I have one of the best cars on the road. At work, people have comented, "wow, now that is a Jeep that I like". And,"I love those wheels". I got an upgrade and had bigger wheels and tires put on the vehicle. I got the Navigational Radio. And, with Blue Tooth Technology, my cell phone is now integrated through the radio. Awesome!
Good vehicle with regular maintenance
Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I bought my Jeep brand new, and have logged 175,000 miles on it. I had to replace the battery after 2 years, and have had some minor transmission issues. The shifter had to be repaired twice. Otherwise, everything has worked fine. I get an oil change every 6,000 miles, and have the transmission fluid flushed/replaced every year. I had the brakes replaced, but with as much as I drive, that's to be expected. It still runs good, and I will probably keep driving this Jeep until I run it into the ground. A friend of mine bought the same model the same year I got mine. His turned out to be a lemon, but mine runs well. Get a warranty to be safe.
Jeeperooo
Wonderful SUV! Quiet and handles beautifully! Gives you a nice smooth ride.
Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7 HEMI (2005)
brute power, smooth ride, excellent handling, much improved from previous model years.this one is a tiger not a pussycat.watch out PORSCHE,BMW,ESCALADE;JEEP has finally arrived...THis is my 4TH Jeep and the best by far.
SWEET RIDE FOR AN SUV
Great buy, love the quite ride. Gas mileage is a concern but understandable with a HEMI. It is my first owned SUV, but more comfortable ride than Ford Explorer or Chevy TrailBlazer. A few interior concerns that could be changed but overall still a great buy.
Best SUV out there
Fantastic SUV. I have tried many other SUVs and this one takes the take. With a Hemi Engine you can out accelerate ANY SUV and most cars. Smooth drive, nice interior, tons of options, fantastic quality. I recommed this to anyone looking for midsized SUVs. Unparalleled offroad ability and top of the line safety. Like all my friends said "All you need to know how to do is accelerate, brake, and hold the wheel"
Junk that looks nice
This is my 2nd JEEP GC Limited, and am not impressed. I had a 2003 GC Limited, and was not happy with the reliability. So I drove a Nissan for almost 3 years, and of course no problems. I decided I liked the HEMI power and looks of the new design, and assumed they would have made the reliability better, but in my case, it is worse. Starter went at 15,000 miles, 2 Stem Valve Sensors, Crankshaft Sensor, missing Radiator fluid, and now needs a new Manifold gasket at 30,000 miles. Today I traded it in on a new Toyota TRD Tacoma. I once again tried to support American cars, but I cannot afford to anymore, my time is money, and I spend most of it in the shop with a JEEP!
Some good some bad
When I bought this car new, it was absolutely what I wanted - for about 10 miles. I had to turn in the car I bought and get a whole new vehicle because nobody could figure out why there was so much terrible wind noise and why is sputtered going up hills in low gear. The new one had similar transmission problems but a recall fix eliminated 99% of the sputtering. When the AC is really cranked, it can sputter a little at times at low speed when trying accelerate. However, this car has been really a gem other than that. No mechanical issues, good ride, takes off road bumps like a champ, and has been remarkably maneuverable in avoiding accidents. Great family car.
Great Rig for the Money!
With two kids in car seats the extra width of this vehicle has been a blessing. We actually have enough room to fit a real human being in between the car seats, making this a true 5 passenger vehicle. Great visibility, comfortable seats, plenty of power, and a sticker price that is well below market value, makes this a good family vehicle. Why spend $10k more for a 4Runner when you can have more power, nicer features, and a better look.
TERRIBLE NEVER BUYING ANOTHER
I bought my 05 Jeep Grand cherokee in June of 2008 and have had nothing but problems since day one. Right away the starter went and then from there on the list is endless now the rear end is leaking the car only has 54,000 miles on it and it's sitting in a driveway because within the past 3 weeks it has cost me over $2,000 in repairs. love my jeep but it is really getting ridiculous. I am looking into trading it in for a brand new honda, no more jeeps even though I have loved them my whole life. I guess it's just the luck of the draw some people have good luck others do not.
High Performance SUV
Mine is the 5.7L Hemi Limited model, and I love it. VERY quick! The combination of Quadra-Drive II, stability control, traction control, and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS is great ... it always goes exactly where I point it, with no drama at all. Interior is very comfortable and looks great. Lots of useful feature that don't get in the way of driving and give you the option of using them or not (automatic headlights, rain-sense wipers, automatic climate control). Smaller cargo area than some other mid- size SUVs, but it's plenty large enough for my use. Overall a great high performance SUV that has the hardware and technology to make driving on and off road a pleasure.
Love the '05 Jeep!
I love this truck! It is really fun to drive. The ride is smooth and quiet, and I like the new styling. This is my first jeep; we test drove 05 Explorer, and were not impressed with the sound in the cabin, and the lack of get up and go in the vehicle. Also, the safety of the Jeep is what really sold us. Love the new jeep!
Fun Car
2005 Jeep Lorado is fun to drive. We have moon roof, heated seats and sat radio (I really like that)
Oh the gas mileage...
Got the Hemi, because for $1,200 it is a no-brainer. But man is the gas mileage awful. Quick for a vehicle this size. Interior redesign is well thought out. Ride quality is good...the thing is UNBELIEVABLE in the snow - better than expected. For the price, it is the best buy in its market segment.
Love-Dislike relationship
Bought with 600 miles - two weeks after purchase in shop for blower motor in fan, gas cap light on, whistle in air conditioner. 1 month later - gas cap light on, still noise in a/c, wind noise from all doors, low voltage light. 2 weeks later - gas cap light on, seats badly stained from water, etc! 6 days later - check engine light on, still noise in a/c (after being repaired-ha-each time). 1 1/2 months later - seats replaced; still stain, noise still in a/c, problem with rear vent. Had surgery, so not driven for a bit. May 06 - wind noise around all doors, sway bar links bad, 4WD light on, bumper paint peeling. All have been repaired, but Jeep customer service is a joke and can't get answer on lemon status.
2005 Grand Cherokee LTD
Excellent experience thus far. Replacing Jeep Liberty Ltd. Equipped with Hemi and Quadra-Drive. Great combination.
Best SUV for the money
I went back and forth, and finally decided on the Jeep. No problems so far, except I think the transmission needs a little work ... seems to jump around 40mph and 60mph. Other than that the only problem I had was a rattling sound that I think is coming from the emergency brake hitting the console. Overall I really love my Jeep and everyone that has seen it has like it as well. Good SUV for the city!
Don't buy early models of any new car
Heater does not work in rear seat; Jeep Customer Service is rude and does not respond even when they give you a case number. Spent the first week and second weekend at the dealer with computer problems.
Love My '05 Jeep
I've only had it for a short time but I'm loving it. I've driven SUV's since 1984 and this has the best ride and handling by far. Everyone I show it to talk about how good it looks.
Refinement and New Technology
This previous Jeep GC owner (1993 & 1996 models) left the fold in 2001 for a Pathfinder. Limited supply on the new 2005 Nissan led me to the new JGC Limited. What a surprise! Nothing like the Grand Cherokee's of the 90's. Exterior styling is sharp, the 2005 is feature rich, the 4.7 has more than adequate power to climb the on-road hills and passes in the Colorado Rockies, steering is very responsive and the cabin is quiet. In four words "refinement and new technology" and perhaps influence from the Daimler folks have created an exciting vehicle that's nimble and fun to drive. Interior plastics, backseats and cargo capacity leave room for improvement, but the new JGC is a winner!
fun for the money
the jeep has had some issues, but overall the fun and satisfaction of driving it has been far beyond my expectations. i bought my 05 5.7L HEMI with 24k, have 49k now, had electrical issues with ac and the knob on the gps fell off, both replaced under warranty. Battery died at 30k. Having electrical issues with lights flashing on and off, haven't had dealership look yet, only works in automatic without problems. keychains broke, cupholder in the back broke, passenger side heat vent broke, sunroof doesn't close right unless i push it along, and it still rolls back sometimes when closing, leather on drivers seat ripped. american car, i got what i paid for, gas guzzling power lo quality build
Cheap Jeep but Top Dollar
I purchased a 2005 Jeep and I find that is built well except the paint. I rate it -1 as is is very poor. My vehicles are kept in the garage and the paint still chips off and looks terrible. They are using a cheap clear coat I guess.
A way better Jeep
Comparing this Jeep to our last Grand Cherokee Limited, I would say Jeep hit a homerun. It rides, handles, and performs better than the past model. The driver is rewarded with more interior room and is by far more luxurious.
So Far So Good
Purchased Jeep a few days ago. Test drove Jeep (2 times), Pathfinder, 4Runner, and Mountaineer all overnight. By FAR the Jeep fit our needs. Very smooth ride and new outside styling is very eye catching. Different ride than truck based models. Traded 2000 Jeep and got $1000 over invoice.
2005 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi
Definitely look at the Hemi as an option if you like power. Available options are confusing, so research them closely. NAV systenm needs to be touch screen instead of the toggle switch. Rides well. Not much room to store things, cup holders small. Two weeks after purchase sunroof was leaking. Dealership experience was poor. Overall, the car is nice, but if you expect an Expedition equipped SUV you will be disappointed.
One big shiny let-down!
My husband and I purchased this vehicle to have something safer and more dependable for our future family. We have barely owned this thing for a little over a month and it has been in the shop for its forth time now! After putting the first full tank of gas in it after purchase we got a check-engine light. Was not fixed the first time so we had to take it back in for a second and third visit. Now the lights on the dash panel flash on and off, check engine light still comes on, gauges fluctuate, and the automatic trans will not shift when driving. I am very disappointed. We are giving the dealership one more chance to make this right then we are done with it.
Problematic
Nice vehicle that had to go due to too many problems. Replaced the gear shifter mechanism, front shock, rear differential, two computer modules and the sunroof. I did not trust it out of warranty. Only had 37,000 miles. The resale value was terrible, originally a loaded 40K V8. Wound up with 15k on a trade in and in and lucky to get that.
Good reliable SUV
I bought the car in 2006 with 18,000 miles on it. It now has 95,000. I have not had any mechanical problems. This SUV is one of the smoothest riding vehicles I have been in. Power is good and it is holding up well to the wear and tear. No visible rust. Gas mileage is poor at best. I had been getting between 17-16 mpg around town and 18-19 on the hwy. However, now I am below 13mpg. It may be caused by the lack of driving. I have a company car now so it only gets short trips here and there. Also it tows very well. I pull a boat on occasion and can hardley tell it is behind me. I would recommend this car to friends. To
So far so good...
I picked up my Cherokee a couple weeks ago and am excited as ever to be driving it. I'm impressed with its refinements over the previous years editions, although I wish I could have swung a model with the larger engine. It has sufficient power for most folks needs and since I don't do much towing it should be just fine. The dark khaki pearlcoat finish has turned a few heads and my friends are green with envy. Seems to handle with ease any road conditions so far. All in all, a lot of fun to drive. We'll just have to see how it holds up as time goes by.
