Attracted to the sleek lines, tried the HEMI and there was no looking back. This is definitely the best SUV that I have ever driven. From Rovers to Hummers. There is no comparison to hitting the accelerator of the HEMI and being driven back in the seat! You have to drive it to believe it.

Car is an excellent option for the price, but need to improve quality. I've just owned this car since December 2005 and it's been in service department 3 times. The last time, we needed to change something on the 4x4 system and it took 2 months to get that part delivered from Chrysler.

I purchased the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and absolutely love it. From the powerful V-8 to the plush leather this vehicle exudes class with a backbone. The lines are a lot sleeker than its predecessor and with the chrome trim I'll put it up against any other SUV in a beauty contest. The ride is quiet and with its new suspension system unique to the '05 model, it handles better than most sedans. The only negative is that it's very thirsty. Don't believe the sticker, it gets 15 MPG on average. 13 city, 17 highway. Other than that, this is the sleekest, best looking, capable, functional, and powerful vehicle I have ever owned and highly recommend it to anyone.

The engine has what appears to be a misfiring problem. Turns out that it's the air compressor not working properly, which puts an intermittent load on the engine, causing it to appear to misfire. According to two different dealerships, Jeep is aware of the problem, and has been for a very long time, but has yet to fix it. In addition, the air conditioner vent control is faulty, causing the air to come out of the heater and defroster for the first 30 seconds or so as the vent control recalibrate ... not a big deal, but just annoying. Neither dealership was able to resolve this problem either. One suggested that the two problems are related. This is definitely my last Jeep purchase, ever!

Bought used with 32,000 miles. Transmission began to leak from a bad seal but was covered by warranty. Transmission also does not feel like it shifts properly, with hesitation especially on an incline. Check engine light came on just after warranty went out, unsure of the problem. Fuel mileage is good for an SUV, 22 mpg on long trips 17 in town. Ample room, I am 6'4" and am comfortable, except if the car seat is behind me then it is very cramped. 4wd is great in the snow.

This is my 3rd Grand Cherokee LTD since '94. Wish they'd have kept the last design longer, but interior & exterior have totally been redesigned. Nice new features, however. Mileage should be better with the multi-displacement hemi, but the power is really impressive. Comfort and quiet is A1. Turning radius is very sharp, auto-high beams are a real plus.

I am the proud owner of a brand new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK. Before you even step in the car you notice the sleek body lines, the cool new look, and the key/remote entry. Once inside, the new car smell hits you and your body conforms to the interior. For the left hand driver, one hand goes to the wheel, the right elbow goes for the center console, and the right hand sits on the shifter. When you begin driving, the smooth, quiet ride are immediately noticed, as well as the nonexistent wind noise. The car accelerates well, able to pass cars with ease.

Great car. Love everything about it except the fuel mileage. Haven't been able to take any long trips as yet due to illness in the family. I am anxious to see if the valve cutout system actually makes a difference on steady speeds over a long period of time. Handles like a dream, low center of gravity makes it handle on curves wonderfully. Acceleration is superb.

I have had this JGC for 10 months. Within that time I have had to send it in for 2 major repairs. This car has already cost me $1,700 to fix and according to the mechanic, who just replaced my starter, servos and battery, I will be needing a new Water Pump soon. That's another $600 fix. In addition to the mechanical fixes there are several issues that I have let slide, including burnt out LED's in the dash ($150 to repair), window motor broken, AC not getting cold, and door lock getting stuck. This Jeep has been a NIGHTMARE. I've owned 4 jeeps and will probably never buy another one again.

Definitely love the exterior much more than the last model. Safe feel when driving. Interior is nice and love the little features like reversible cargo holder in trunk. Stock base stereo/speakers are pretty adequate. Engine is underpowered though with the v6. This is a heavy truck so another 20 hp would be extremely helpful. Also hate the transmission programming. It’s always shifting too soon and is always one gear too high when going up a big hill or even a small one. Truck is still a great value. Full time AWD is a great feeling.

This is my 1st Jeep. I have been a Ford Explorer owner. I bought the Jeep because my son has a 2001 and it still looks great after 60,000 miles. I went to look at the Chevy TrailBlazers and just did not like the style or ride. The Ford Explorer unfortunately was not even on my list but probably would have be the SUV I would have purchased. With the Explorer you can't rent a trailer from U-Haul and to spend this kind of money and have that restriction did not make sense.

I LOVE THIS JEEP! I have been looking for a great truck most of the summer. When I saw what great deals they had on Grand Cherokee's I was sold. I have the options I want. I have the color I want, Light Khaki. It has pretty good fuel economy (mid 15 mpg) in mostly city driving. It's the perfect size. It's not as big as a Dodge Durango or as bad on gas. I love the look of the interior and the contrasting colors. I love the standard safety features like Traction Control, with the 4x4 system, ABS and other creature comforts like average miles per gallon, miles till empty, miles till service and compass/temperature. I love the fabric of this cloth better then the normal cloth.

I have owned my Jeep Grand Cherokee for only a few months, and I love it dearly. It is fun to drive, easy to handle, and very comfortable. My only complaint is the gas mileage. I am getting about 15 in the city and 21 on the highway. I drove a Honda Accord prior to the purchase of my Jeep. Even though there is no comparison on gas mileage, I STILL LOVE MY JEEP!

With over 4 years and nearly 60,000 miles I have to say this has been the best SUV ever ! I've been in all driving conditions ( 10in. of snow, down pours, gravel, dirt, uphill, towing and uneven pavement ) with zero problems. JEEP handled everything with ease. Equipped with 3.7L engine and 4WD has plenty of power for road use. Gas mileage was much better at over 22 hwy and 18 city than the Honda Pilot I got rid of.

I absolutely fell in love with the looks of this car. It's the 9th car I've owned, but it is my favorite! The size is perfect for me; not too big, not too small. Purchased the Rocky Mountain Edition and love the extras such as leather seats, Sirius radio, and sun roof. I have owned this car for 4 months and the only complaint I have is that it is presently in the shop because my sun roof was leaking through the overhead console after a few weeks of continuous rain. Also I went from a V8 Durango and I sometimes get frustrated going up hills with the 3.7 V6, seems to downshift. Thought buying a V6 would save on gas. Driving around town or on the highway, it's ZIPPY.

Big hit on depreciation - $15,000 1 year

Good ride over 2004. Think Edmunds is wrong about the back seat being cramped - it's better then 2004 and adequate. They all should still have the 4x4 high and low - not just on demand 4x4. Without the high/low command track it's not really a Jeep just a 4 wheel drive with limited off road ability. The rear cargo area height is lousy, my dogs can stand but rub the head liner in this Jeep, in the other version they could stand and not rub the headliner and I had better visibility. The dogs are 26 and 28 inches tall on all fours. I AM NOT GOING TO KEEP THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE THE TRADE IN VALUE HAS DEPRECIATED over $15,000 in one year; the vehicle is loaded listed for $34,400 and its value is $16K.

Only a few gripes ... the transmission seems to shift awful late. When you come to an incline, you give it a little gas, and nothing. Stomp on it, and it will wake up but who wants to do that? Also, the A/C seems to be a little anemic ... our '02 Grand Cherokee's was too.

Hoping 2005 was just an off year. Mine has been back to the dealer 4 or 5 times for different items like the tire pressure monitor and the air bag light continuing to have problems. Then the 5 cent knob on the GPS guide broke and they had to order a new radio (the whole unit), not to mention the brake rotors warping and getting replaced under warranty. Other than that it's fine.

I bought a 2005 Jeep Grand Cher Limited 4WD w/ the Hemi Upgrade in 05 brand new. In 06 I had to have a new transmission, transmission pump and onboard computer installed they told me it was the computer that caused the pump to malfunction which made the transmission go. I was told it would take two months by the dealership to get the part I called Chyrsler and they overnighted the part and lent me a 93 jeep as a loaner with a broken heater in the winter. In July of 08 my transmission went again the manager of the shop told me he didn't know why it happened. In November I didn't pass inspection because I had an electrical short in my ABS which cost $499 not under warranty. Be Careful

This is our third Jeep and (marginally) the best of the three. Experience with it includes 11,700 miles over 10 months (including two 3000 miles trips). It's fairly comfortable for a 4WD and is looks good. Gripes include transmission shift programming (underpowered, even with V8), form and fit (rear doors don't meet body well), periodic maintenance "forces" you into Schedule B (any driving in freezing weather) which includes changing front rear axle fluid at 12000 miles at $140 an axle, etc. Also had to change leaking pinion seal at 6000 miles. Gas mileage computer is erratic, even over long trips -- not accurate. Overall reliability is questionable; we'll see.

Too expensive on gas. Decent SUV for the price, however, it's just good for now. I only wish that I had known the gas mileage would be so poor. The pickup on the car is not great. Also has a tendency to seem as though it is not going to make it to the right gear.

I am a hunter and use this Jeep a lot and use it hard. Even with the 4x4 Quadtrac 1 system, it gets me through the mud, sand, deep water, through brush and up and down hills great. I never get stuck. Not quite a Wrangler in some manners but almost and it rides like a champ. Very comfortable, good gas mileage, 18 mpg in town and 23 on one trip. Great in the snow also. I have 36,000 miles on my jeep now and it's running great. My last one went 275k until tranny needed work. Sold it to employee with 330k and is still running great.

When I bought this car new, it was absolutely what I wanted - for about 10 miles. I had to turn in the car I bought and get a whole new vehicle because nobody could figure out why there was so much terrible wind noise and why is sputtered going up hills in low gear. The new one had similar transmission problems but a recall fix eliminated 99% of the sputtering. When the AC is really cranked, it can sputter a little at times at low speed when trying accelerate. However, this car has been really a gem other than that. No mechanical issues, good ride, takes off road bumps like a champ, and has been remarkably maneuverable in avoiding accidents. Great family car.

This is my third Jeep, the first was a Wrangler, great Jeep, the second a Cherokee, didn't last. This one has been great so far, gas mileage in heavy city driving has been 14mpg so not the best, highway 20mpg. But I do jackrabbit starts so I'm not surprised by the mileage. Otherwise the interior is great and the features the Limited comes with are awesome. From my experience with Jeeps, always change the oil about every 3k miles, but besides that reliability should be good. We've owned foreign cars as well and they seem to take more abuse but if you stay on the maintenance the Jeeps are fine.

Great Jeep - Terrible Gas Mileage

This is by far the best built and designed Jeep I have owned (previous 2003 Laredo & 1994 Cherokee Sport). The Hemi has three loves, hills, speed, and unfortunately, gas is by far her favorite; it’s horrendous on gas mileage. Other than terrible gas mileage, my only other “complaint” would be you almost have to regulate the way you drive, not there is such a thing, but it’s almost too much power. I love this Jeep so much though (ga$ prices may have factored in as well), I’m getting a second car to use as a commuter. That way she’ll be around as long as possible.

Fun to own. Off-road capabilities are outstanding. Gas mileage leaves something to be desired, as expected with 5.7L Hemi. Electrical issues with 4WD system have required repeated trips to the shop for repair. Park assist sensor and various other sensors/systems will show need for service but dealership will find nothing upon inspection. A/C will cease to blow cold air but will resume with shutoff/restart of engine. Second row lacks ample legroom for adult passengers. Despite the handful of issues I've had with this vehicle, I don't regret purchasing it. It's a blast to take offroad and a joy to drive all the way around.

First time Jeep owner, mpg city 10, mpg hwy 20. Big problems with trans. When it's cold trys to take off in second then shifts hard in to first. Problems going into rev at times, goes in false neutral when stopping sometimes. Trans whines after it warms up. ABS actives when stopping uphill almost every day. I live on a hill. Problem with check engine light comes on and off. Dealer has no clue. What a suprise! I like the way the ext and int looks. For the most part it runs great, never no problems with the motor. I do all my own maintence so I haven't found any leaks. Two times a year I take it to the Nevada desert and bomb through the sand no problems at all. From CA to NV avg 22mpg.

Right away the starter went and then from there on the list is endless now the rear end is leaking the car only has 54,000 miles on it and it's sitting in a driveway because within the past 3 weeks it has cost me over $2,000 in repairs. love my jeep but it is really getting ridiculous. I am looking into trading it in for a brand new honda, no more jeeps even though I have loved them my whole life. I guess it's just the luck of the draw some people have good luck others do not.

This is our 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee. We owned a 1993 Jeep Grand Wagoneer (V8 w/QuadraDrive) and 2001 GC Laredo (6 cylinder). This time we got the Hemi with QuadraDrive II. We loved the '93 Wagoneer. Hated the 6 cylinder Laredo. We love the 2005 GC with Hemi. It rides like our 2001 Audi Allroad. The ride and handling is like a European sports sedan. The acceleration is awesome. The QuadraDrive II did exceptionally during the last New England snow storm. It tracked perfectly without any slippage. The traction and stability control truly enhances the QuadraDrive system--this Jeep can go anywhere. The Bluetooth link to the cell phone is a very nice feature. The navigation system works flawlessly.

Except for having a rear view mirror in my view, i don't have any complaints. I've driven mine into a ditch on the interstate, off-road, very off-road, on gravel, and it's a great ride and I've never broken anything on it. Built like a tank. GET ONE!

Transmission problems

Watch out on this one. They changed transmissions this year and they had a seal problem. I took mine in twice with water in the transmission. All they did was flush it and seal it with sealer, no actual repair of seal or new transmission. After the second visit, we told them it was still acting sluggish but they told us the machine could find nothing wrong. Long story short, the transmission went out yesterday while we were traveling. Had to creep home in a low gear. Now trying to get it towed. The alignment also went out at 10,000 miles and ate into the tread wear. I will never buy another one.

Bought with 600 miles - two weeks after purchase in shop for blower motor in fan, gas cap light on, whistle in air conditioner. 1 month later - gas cap light on, still noise in a/c, wind noise from all doors, low voltage light. 2 weeks later - gas cap light on, seats badly stained from water, etc! 6 days later - check engine light on, still noise in a/c (after being repaired-ha-each time). 1 1/2 months later - seats replaced; still stain, noise still in a/c, problem with rear vent. Had surgery, so not driven for a bit. May 06 - wind noise around all doors, sway bar links bad, 4WD light on, bumper paint peeling. All have been repaired, but Jeep customer service is a joke and can't get answer on lemon status.

Bought this vehicle to replace my 1999 GMC truck that I wrecked. The vehicle was still under factor warranty when I bought the car. I'm getting 18-20 mph around town and 20-24 on the road. I like the design of the Jeep and the ride and for the price it was the best deal that I could find. Had to have something large enough for a family of t but still got decent MPH.

Pros: The '05 is quieter and has a smoother ride than the older models. Cons: The gas tank is smaller than the older models, so I'm filling up sooner. Plus, this model is bigger and more square; sometimes can difficult to park because of this.

I have driven Jeeps for over 12 years now, and I have never had to do one thing to the car, except regular oil and lube changes. The car is unbelievable. A great ride, very sturdy, and even though it is the only SUV that really has a truck base, it drives like a luxury car as well. It can withstand rough terrain and roads (the only car the Army used for reliability). I only had to call a tow once, when I ran out of gas. Every other SUV is a knock-off.

I’ve driven 3 Laredos but this time I decided to go to the top. The Limited is really great to drive. I didn’t think I would ever use the NAV but it was a big help when I had to find my son at a hospital emergency room. I only wish the NAV was real time so I could avoid gridlock. I am glad that the CD changer was moved from the rear of the vehicle to the dash. I love the tire monitor as well, great idea.

Ijust puschased a 05 laredo and i cant believe how great this suv is. driving for my job ive had an envoy and a 04 jeep over the last 4 years. I loved the 04 jeep in the snow but hated the looks and the body roll in turns and the seats of the o4 would roll you around..this 05 is quiet better on gas and it has great looks, a great interior and to be honest is more gun than our c5 corvette..and believe me we love our corvette..in facy the wheels are the same as the 97 98 99 corvette style..this jeep will sell like hotcakes ..its fresh we got the kakai green pearlcoat and its beautiful..the sound system is as good as bose and the adjustable pedals are the best...buy this jeep you wont be sorry.
