Used 2006 Jeep Commander Consumer Reviews
Commander is a Great Jeep
I have had my Commander for a few months now and have put it through rush hour and trips across the mountains in Colorado and i have been pleased and comfortable the whole time. It has enough power to push me up the mountains on onto the freeway. Yes, it does not throw into my seat when I press on the gas, but I did not expect that from a two and a half ton giant. A little squat in my seat makes me happy, nonetheless. The ride is smooth and quiet and things seem put together well. I have been in older Chrysler products and this one is truly a HUGE improvement. Overall, I am happy with my Commander, bring on more snow!

I've Grown to love the Commander
I have driven a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for several years. I have always liked the luxury look of a Limited package, but the durability & safety of an SUV. The "boxy" Commander style was not what I was looking for in a Jeep for 06. I don't need the 7 seats but could use the cargo room. The Commander standard was too plain & reminded me of the old Jeep Wagoneer style of the 70's. Then I fell in love with a Black Limited Commander with the saddle brown leather seats. It had the Hemi (would have preferred the V8) & the side curtain airbags sold me. I was in an accident a month ago, with another Dodge Ram truck & we both hit at 45 mph. The 5 star rating was right on. That vehicle saved my life.
Good Vehicle
I've had the car for a year now - NO PROBLEMS. Engine is reliable, but the new v6 (instead or straight 6 in the older Jeeps) is less perky, and only slightly more fuel efficient. Comfort is excellent, although full size adults will feel cramped in the back seats - those are for sure for the kids/carrying. Head room is outstanding - I'm 6'5" and have room to spare, and can see out of the windshield without bending. Performs well in traffic and highway - very quiet actually on the road, which is a big change from prior Jeep Cherokee.
Love the return of the boxier Jeep style
This vehicle has been fun to drive around town and was very comfortable on a 600+ mile trip we took within the first 3 months of ownership. It rides well, corners remarkably well and has ample interior room. It holds 5 adults very comfortably and can accommodate 2 additional kids in the 3rd row. The V8 engine provides plenty of acceleration power.
