Used 1999 Jeep Cherokee Consumer Reviews
There's no replacement for Cherokee
Bought this very basic 4x4 last summer with 125k on the clock, and just grow more enthusiastic every day. Its not a luxury car, but is very tractable on-road and there is NO vehicle still in production in 2008 that can come anywhere close to matching it for balancing on-road manners and sheer offroad capability. Its also built like a tank and is unbelievably reliable. Important stuff just does not fail on this car. Fuel econ. is quite good in commuting. They're so common that they're almost forgotten- but just look around you in traffic some day and start counting, and note how many still look great. Then remember there hasn't been a new one built for 7 years. Take THAT, Toyota.
cannot complain
.When I purchased my jeep, it had 7 miles. I now have 267,000 actual miles. This Cherokee has never needed any engine or transmission work. However, I have had to replace the following: rotors 60k, radiator/ water pump 230k(I did not flush it enough), front washer motor 150k, power steering pump 170k, alternator 180k, ignition/steering column problems 265k. Also, expect to have to replace the rubber mat that protects the underside of the engine. I think anyone would agree these numbers are impressive. I am very pleased that I chose a cherokee, it has been relatively inexpensive to maintain.
ok
My parents bought my 99 Cherokee sport in 2000, drove it for about 5 years, and then handed it down to me. It now has 140,0000 miles on it. I have no complaints about how it runs, never had any problems with that. However, the ac has stopped working, the front speakers blew out, the rear windshield wiper doesn't work, and the handle that pops that hood was so sticky, that mechanics changing the oil completely pulled it off and now the hood won't latch and I have to put a ratchet strap around it to keep it down. It gets me from place to place, but that's about it.
1999 Black Cherokee Sport
I am one of the few people that actually takes a Cherokee off-road. I found the Cherokee to be the perfect SUV for Northern Michigan. Not too bulky and not a "sport-cute" It is the ideal size for any family with two children or less. As of July 25,2003 I have 68,000 miles and the only problem I have had is a Fuel Pump that was covered under my 8/80 warrenty.
What I think of My Jeep
I have had my jeep Cherokee for about a year now and I love it. It; accelerates good, has power you can feel, handles really good with almost no body role, breakes extremely well, gets good gas milage, and is very comfortable to drive. I also love taking it offroad. I am huge offroader and I have yet to get this thing stuck. It has one of the best 4-wheel drive systems on the m,arket. It can go anywhere and do anything as is, with no modifications and even without allterain tires like mine(although allterain tires are recomended for all vehicles going off road). The only complaint I have about the Cherokee is that the center counsel/jocky box is a litle small.
