Mr. Reliable
I bought my 96' Cherokee 2 Door Sport 10 years ago with 35,000 miles on it. The only work that I have had to do to it was replace the muffler and tailpipe, set of front brake pads and a starter. It now has 145,000 miles on it and uses no oil and gets around 22-23 mpg. It is the most efficient 4wd I have ever owned. I wish they still made them! My body is still in great shape despite the winters here in PA. The paint isn't the best but it has yet to rust out. The engine is a work horse and will take me anywhere I need to go!
I Miss it!
Bought it used w/141k miles - all original parts! YIKES - replaced just about everything - clutch, brakes, muffler, starter, cylinders... you get the idea! However, they were ALL factory original! Loved it! Sitting at a stop light last fall got hit by 2 other cars - head on & drivers side - total loss - but I walked away. Looking for same car 5-speed 4WD. Wish they still made them - my mechanic said they were one of the best cars EVER made & easy to work on too! Even cheaper to repair!

This is my first car, and I NEVER will get rid of it!
I own a two door 1996 jeep cherokee sport (I know it shows 4dr 5 speed) but this thing is AMAZING! My cherokee is so much fun to drive and even though it has street tires and no lift at the moment, it can go straight through mud. I am currently building it up right now. I have a k&n cold air intake in it, brand new tune up kit, and a redone exhaust system. It's rugid, reliable, and can take a beating. I love my Jeep.
Love my XJ!
It will be a sad day if i ever have to part with my XJ. it's fun to drive, very quick for an SUV, and it's awesome off-road. rides nice, the engine is very torquey, also the 4.0L I6 engine lasts forever. the back seat is small, not really ment for large adults on long trips. cargo area is decent. my spirited driving style nets around 18mpg, mixed driving. as high as 22mpg on the hwy. very reliable. doesn't have problems w/the little stuff breaking like in other cars. there are noises, but that's the Jeep trade mark. so far the noises haven't caused any problems in almost 100K miles, so i'm not worried.
hope it comes back
My jeep is used for pulling heavy loads, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, trapping, and fun. My friends always comment on how jeep should use me in their commercials. I find that it is extremely nimble off road, and has great power and handling on the highway (even when pulling a load). Bottom line is that it`s reliable and practical. It carries a large canoe well with it`s sqaure racks and it`s size is just right. I went on a 10,000 km trip across canada and it was loaded to the max. It drove like a charm, both on and off the road. From anyone I know with a jeep, mine has many years left. Hopefully the jeep will be brought back by the time I need to replace this one.
