I have now owned my 2004 XJ8 for 9 years. It has proved to be a very satisfying car to drive and to own. The reliability so far has been excellent. I have presently approximately 90 K miles. I do not drive it in snow as it has very poor traction and I don't want to expose it to salted roads. The comfort on long trips is exemplary except that it is slightly cramped in comparison with other sedans of this level. Trunk space is also limited-better than the older model but still fairly small. The gas mileage on highway driving is very, very good. The seats are very firm which means they are comfortable on long drives. I recently drove mine from New England to South Carolina (about 850 miles) and was impressed with the long haul comfort of this cat. Resale value is unfortunately pretty dismal but if you are buying one you can buy one cheap. They always turn heads with their classic looks. Update: the Kitty is still going strong now in 2016. No major repairs-just routine maintenance-brakes, tires, oil and scheduled adjustments. Update: 12/01/2016-the Cat is still going strong. The only repair since my last post was a blower fan for heat/AC. Reason: mice got in and made nest-and fan got ruined in the process. So still going strong and no reason to change my previous glowing review. Update:12/2018. My Jaguar is still running strong. The headliner, of course, is sagging now and I am probably going to address it in the spring but other than that no issues. The car still runs and feels as new. I am appreciative of the classic look more and more as I see all the cookie cutter cars out there. Update: 12/02/19-nothing new to report -the car is still running strong and continues to be a comfortable, sporty, reliable daily driver. I replaced the thermostat during routine oil change and radiator flush. I do not run it in snowy conditions which Helps keep it in good condition. The brake lines are still original and undercarriage looks clean. I think the air suspension will be needing attention but still not throwing warnings other than severely cold days( which is par). Update: 6/2020: Still driving and enjoying this lovely car. Oil changes and new thermostat since last update. Car showing check engine light but starts and runs normally-I will bring it in shortly to check and get oil change. I drive the car all winter other than a few days as we had no real snow after December. Still love this car-it will be a family heirloom. Update: 6/2/23: The XJ8 is doing duty as our available car at our vacation home out of state in order to avoid the high cost of rental cars. Update: 12/05/23: the Jag is our car away from home at our vacation condo in SC and is still giving us good service. Due for oil change service and new tires soon.

Best Luxury Car Value You'll Find

Go to any website and look up the reliability and handling of the 2004+ Jaguar Xj8 and you'll find owners LOVE these cars. For the money they are the most luxurious, best handling, greatest looking, and distinctive luxury cars on the planet. The 2004+ models were the result of over a billion dollars spent by FORD in improvements to the Jaguar range. These cars are never mistaken for anything but a Jaguar. I have owned two of the 2004 models (and drive one currently) and they both provide outstanding handling, value, and the kind of driving experience that gets your heart beating when you turn the key. As far as I'm concerned, when friends ask me if I like my Jaguar luxury/performance car, I just say there is NO OTHER CAR. I just can't say enough about the experience of owning a Jaguar. It is a singular pleasure unmatched in the motoring world. Update: Two years later not a single problem. Car is a dream. Buy one. Update after two years: Car is fantastic. Still no issues whatsoever. Only maintenance is changing fluids. The 2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 (350) are the last, repeat last, of the traditional Jaguars in terms of styling and traditional luxury interiors. I'm convinced these cars will or are becoming modern classics. A 3004-2006 with under 45000 miles can still be had for under $15k and probably will never depreciate any lower than that. Care for one and drive it sparingly and you'll probably see an actual increase in what you paid in about 5 years from now. That fact pales in comparison to the smiles on your face as you turn the key in this magnificent motoring machine...as Sir William Lyons said, "The closest machine you can get to something that's actually alive." The 350's are like rare fine wine, meant to age well and be enjoyed for years to come. UPDATE AS OF 7/2019: In July 2019 I purchased a 2008 XJ Vanden Plas from a dealer in Palm Springs. Car had 29k miles and I paid $17.8k for a car that originally sold for $84k at Desert European Jaguar in Rancho Mirage. This further backs my claim that these are one of if not THE best luxury car value to be found. As stated before, the ride, handling and luxury amenities of the XJ8 (X350) series cars is superb. The 2008 and 2009 models feature restyled front and rear elements, and were the last years of the 1968-2009 XJ series cars. For specific research on these cars I highly recommend "The Essential Buyer's Guide" by Nigel Thorley. Good luck searching. It took me about three years to find this car but well worth the dilligence!

My 7th Jaguar

I have never owned more than three of any brand in succesion, but my Jaguars have been an exception. My current 2004 XJ 8 was purchased with 73000 miles 18 months ago, it now has 114000 miles on the odometer It is the MOST dependable used car i have ever owned, except for my new Dodge trucks. This Jaguar routinely gets 28-30 mpg at highway speeds, and 20 mpg in city driving. It has been a dream to own, and has never let me down. The car is dead reliable, a pleasure to drive , and very quick. The interior is very plush, and is resistant to wear and tear. Dont believe the nay sayers about Jaguar reliability, I have owned BMW's and Mercedes cars that were a lot more problamatic than my Jaguars.

I have owned my XJ8 2004 for 3 years and I still love every time I drive this car. It is truley a wonderful design and very well built and for me has been one light bulb reliable. I may get another one for my family, its that good. Price is almost too good to comprehend. The aluminum chassis and body makes it great on gas with 28-30 on the highway. For a V8 - really? - yes it is true. A gem of a car, now almost 10 years new...

I was the guy that always admired these cars for years when I'd see them on the road. Friends thought I was crazy, that it was an old man’s car. So, I would just end up leasing a new BMW 5 Series every 3 years. I got so bored of the 5 and all the other new European sedans I'd see on the road here in LA. Finally, I said 'that's it!', when the next pristine 2004-2007 XJ comes up for sale locally I'm gonna jump on it and throw my 5 Series up on Swap-A-Lease. That day came in August of last year and found myself an 04 Vanden Plas with 41k miles on it. Paid a little over $13k for it. Just like most used cars, especially ones this old, you have to expect to do a little sorting in the beginning. I spent about $1500 in the first few months and it’s been smooth sailing ever since, just routine maintenance. The car is an absolute joy to drive. Quiet, comfortable, plush, luxurious but also light on its feet and handles amazingly well. I thought I would miss all the latest technology and convenience of a new car. I don't at all. Find an awesome independent mechanic that specializes in these cars. The dealers are way overpriced and are used to working on the modern cars. For anybody that's on the fence don't be. Just get a good one and you'll never look back. Oh, my friends that used to make fun of me now love it as much as I do

Bought XJ8 VDP used with 60000 reading on the odometer. Love the comfort speed and styling of this big cat but been disappointed with its quality. If you are the type that can fix little things on your own then this wouldn’t be a bad buy. The XJ has not left me stranded but have had little things go wrong. List of problem that I was able to fix myself: 1. All lock mechanism stopped working- found used parts on Ebay for 200 for all 4 doors. New price for each door is 300+. 2. Interior blower motor stop working- found control module on Ebay for 120. New part 300+ 3. Trunk latch stopped working- found trunk latch on Ebay for 50. New part 400+ 4. Radio amp stopped working- found used part on Ebay for 100. New part 1500+ Again, if you don’t have a personal mechanic or you are not able to turn a wrench do yourself a favor stay away…..

I wrote a review for Edmunds on my 7th Jaguar which was a 2004 XJ8 a few years back. My , how i lOVED that car, always dependable, reliable , incredible gas mileage, comfortable , and so exclusive. But i always wanted a XJR, so i sold my XJ8 and bought my XJR, took me 2 years to find the Jaguar Racing Green / oatmeal interior combination with low miles . Wow, talk about power !!!!!!!! 0-60 in 5 seconds and 13 second quarter miles times, back in 04 , that was pretty impressive for a 4 door sedan, even now , that is pretty respectable for a 12 year old car. I want to choke people when they say that Jaguars are not dependable, they have been THE most dependable cars i have ever owned . Yes , i have owned BMW ( the Ultimate maintenance machine ) and Mercedes Benz, ( expensive to repair ) Just look at the reviews of Jaguar owners, and see what they say about their cars. I bought mine used with 70K miles, the only problem was a part in the A/C unit, my mechanic fixed it with a Genuine jaguar part , that cost much less than an after market part. I take mine on long journeys, and get anywhere from 27-29 MPG at 75 MPH, and that is with a 400HP Supercharged V8. In town, typical mileage is 22MPG. Take care of your Jaguar, do the required maintenance , and your jaguar will take care of you for many years, with a wonderful driving experience. The 04 -08 Jaguars are the last of the traditional Jaguar design models , before they were changed. They are an incredible bargain for a classic, dependable automobile.

This car has to be the best value on the market. It get a respectable 24 MPG with 400 horses under the hood. This is not your dad's jag. It feels light and responsive. When you hit the sport button the throttle is very responsive and you feel extremely fast. The interior is perfect. Everything that looks like leather IS leather and everything that look like metal IS metal. Things you expect when your original sticker is $90k. Ridiculous depreciation that is mostly due to the sins of the past make this car a remarkable value. Currently the car has 85,000 miles and I've had it for 3 years. Buy an extended waranty and pat yourself on the back for buying one of the greatest cars ever.

I've owned my 2004 xj8 since early 2009. I bought it with a little over 30,000 miles. I have approx 92, 000 miles to date and this car is a beauty. A head turner. I'm constantly getting compliments. It drives magnificently and the interior is first class. Just complete luxury at its finest. I've had a few issues mechanically, windshield wiper motor and throttle position sensor. Other than that, I am a proud jag owner and loving it

I am a CPA from Tampa and have used the XJR for business and pleasure. I have owned Caddy STS, MB CLK/AMG, a host of Vettes thru C5, and currently a 911/997 Porsche Carrera S. Aside from the 911, a very different car, the 2004 XJR is, overall, the best car I have driven. In 3.5 years, I have had no problems aside from one visit for front brake scuffing and two recalls. I did have the heat element disconnected from the steering wheel - it was too hot to hold! The supercharged performance is top notch and the exterior style is fitting of its market as is its interior. I cannot understand the problems/ratings that several other posts have made. It is certainly not my experience.

I bought this car used. It had been a condo-car in south Florida for all of its ten year life, and CarFax showed that some years it had only been driven 1400 miles; was regularly serviced and was still in warranty when the guy before me bought it and put nearly 10,000 miles on it in a couple of months and then resold it once the original warranty ended at 50,000 miles. Purchase price was outstanding and I had some money to spare to take care of the inevitable used car issues. Some things on cars fail simply because of age, and this was no exception. A couple of thousand dollars to get a good mechanic to take care of those issues returned the Jaguar to top condition and I haven't had to do anything but change oil and filters for nearly three years now and the cat keeps on purring. Love this car.

1 Week Into Jaguar Ownership

12k a 40k mile car was a steal. I purchased this car knowing something would break. You have to have that mindset for all Jaguars and plan accordingly. This car was below my budget for a used car, and I put my savings from the purchase into an account for future repairs. I'm now very glad I did. 1 week in and the sunroof is broken, air suspension has visible leaks, who knows what else. Just the parts for the sunroof are $800, rear air suspension is $1500 for one shock. If you don't mind working on a car yourself (which I don't) this is a decent buy, also for air suspension issues arnott makes better than factory suspension. 4 shocks for the price of a jag one.

I’ve owned this 2004 XJ8 Jaguar since I bought it brand new. I have never regretted it. It’s very unusual seafrost (light green) color is nowhere else to be seen & has been an eye opener since the very beginning. It has started on the dime every single time for 16 years & has had very few problems. The only major issue has been the air suspension going out twice. The air suspension made you feel like you are driving literally on air, floating along on city streets or highways. I eventually converted it to a regular suspension system & it still feels smooth on driving. I get compliments from strangers who admire the car. It’s a car you feel proud to drive up in. The only thing I may have done differently was to wait a year or two when the XJ8L (longbody) version came out because it gave you extra legroom in the back seats. It has a very distinctive, luxurious feel & look to it. The engine when running is so quiet & smooth that I sometimes don’t know that the engine is on & I mistakenly crank the ignition again! The people who have had negative reviews have probably had a “lemon” which all cars have. My experience has been quite the opposite & am a bit sad that the newer Jaguars have kind of lost that classic, distinctive Jaguar look & design. My family has owned Mercedes & BMW’s and all have had problems. Not this Jag! I will keep this car till I am old and gray! Worth every penny I paid.

Bought my 04 jaguar xjr about four years ago, I got a super bargain for a extremely clean car, the seller just wanted it gone and dropped the price substantially. I bought it with 112k miles on it and ran perfect and has ran flawless since. From time of purchase I have only had to replace the radiator overflow bottle, installed struts to replace air shocks, EGR valve, and a squeaky idler pulley, all reasonably cheap stuff. Its a second car for me, but its been a blast to have a car with some good performance as an alternative to driving my boring truck. I have no regrets buying this car, and I plan to hang on to it for a while longer.

Purchased 2004 Jaguar XJ8 Select Edition with 25K miles in 12/05. The car still looks and runs like new at 96K miles in 10/12. Car has been a dream, very reliable, repairs few and far between. Never been stuck due to breakdown. My 2004 is most reliable car ever. Quality of ride and handling, interior leather and paint are stunning; Comfort and Class personified. Not an all out sports car (I still have my E-Type for that) but for a sedan I've never found it wanting for speed, handling, cornering or any other "normal" performance requirement. You can pick up used ones for around $10-12K an amazing bargain. Car should not have major repair issues till closer to 200K in miles.

I have owned my, low-mileage (23k), 2004 XJ Vanden Plas for a little over a month now. This automobile is without question the finest automobile that I have ever owned. The quality of the interior blows away anything from Germany or Japan. The electronics (Alpine stereo, Nav, Rear DVD, etc.) are simple, logical and easy to operate. The exterior is a timeless classic and the aluminum body make the MPG's incredible (18-20 city/28-31 hwy). In fact, I've averaged 27.3 mpg (80% Hwy./20% City) for the first 1,300 miles that I've owned the car! Ridiculous depreciation, based upon sins of the past, make this without question the best value in the used luxury car market.

I bought a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 in 2009. After one year of pleasure driving, I am as excited about this car after 10,000 miles as the first day I took ownership. The ride, the quality, the looks, and the performance are unmatchable in this price range. I could not afford a new Jag, and I was hesitant, but couldn't help myself, and my decision to buy this 5-year old was one of the best decisions ever. This car has worked flawlessly in the city (San Francisco) and on long drives. I have the car regularly maintained by a Jag dealer and couldn't be happier. As they say, this car sold for nearly $70,000 new. There's a reason it cost that much. Take care of it, it will take care of you.

The 294 hp all aluminum XJ8 is a luxury sports sedan at an amazing price. I almost bought a used 535i, but saw that the XJ8 had the same specs on weight, acceleration, hp and torque. I am tall, and not giving up performance but getting those extra couple inches of legroom really mattered, and the fun is only multiplied by the amazing stock Alpine stereo. I do have to do a repair every 6 months (mostly replacing affordable suspension parts when the rubber cracks due to the car's 15 year age.

Bought this car in January of 2011 with 13k miles on it. Always wanted this model. I knew what I was getting myself into but was stubbornly optimistic. I wanted to believe Jag had improved their reliability over the years but was quickly disappointed. The performance is beyond reproach and I admit I am now spoiled with its power and plush interior. But by 20K, one of the shocks blew. By 30k, the air suspension compressor died. By 40k, another shock blew. By 45k, the car died mid-ride (thank God I wasn't on the freeway). The dreaded "engine systems fault" light illuminated. Dealer couldn't figure out the problem and it magically cured itself; promptly traded it for reliable Lexus.

I bought my 2004 Jaguar XJ8 in May, 2008. It had 35,000 miles on it and, yet, it has taken me an additional 50,000 trouble-free, breathtakingly quick miles. The car is a beauty, British racing green with sand interior. The normally aspirated engine responds well and the ZF transmission translates that power to the road immediately. The XJ handles like a much smaller car, dancing over the road rather than crushing it as its German stablemates tend to do. This is the best, most responsive car I've ever owned. A true joy to behold and to drive.

This is my third Jag, I started with a 89 XJ6, a 99 XJR and now the 04 XJR. I have always been pleased with Jags and have never had any problems in the past. The 04 is beyond superb from its power to its class and comfort. At high speeds it just glides, what a pick up in acceleration. The technology that comprises this car is just amazing, it has a leveling suspension, drives itself with the cruise, heated steering wheel etc.. I ordered mine with every option possible, wow, I feel spoiled. I've had everything from Rolls, BMW, Mercedez, Audi, Lotus, Cadillac etc.. this is by far the best. Thanks Jag for a fabulous car.

This car is so much fun for the money. Many people will say its ok or why a Jag , but you always can see they really like it in there face. The car would seem high priced to own but it is very reasonable. Big brembo brakes , all aluminum body and chassis and 400 hp it packs a punch! It rides on air bags, it has covette like handling, and style like royality. You slide into that rich leather and find its really a drivers car. I was looking at BMW, Camaro ,and other cars and the XJR BEETS THEM ALL HANDS DOWN. You will love it.

My 2004 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas is the finest motorcar that I have ever owned. The quality of the fit and finish is superb. The performance of the vehicle on all types of road surfaces is excellent, and it is fun to drive. The seats are very supportive and serve to enhance the driving experience. Fuel economy is exceptional, with over 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The cabin is quiet and comfortable at cruising speed. I only wish that I had purchased such a fine vehicle sooner.

This is a beautiful vehicle, fun to drive, classy and just awesome. It is a car that needs to be kept in top shape as for getting service on it every 5000 miles. Getting the oil changed every 3000 miles, etc. If you take good care of it, it will take good care of you. Remember it's not the "old" pre 90's Jag. These our a "Ford" product and WELL made.

Explosive acceleration caught me by surprise; I had traded in a 1998 S420 Mercedes and therefor was not used to the Jaguar 390 horsepower quickness. The ride on the low profile 19 inch tires is firm and smooth. I'm especially fond of the internal DVD Navigation system which covers all the USA and Canada. The Cruise Control allows you to select a "following" spacing behind any vehicle in front and if you have selected a higher speed than the vehicle in front, it will slow your speed to maintain the spacing you have selected.

Had some Jags, went to Benzs but they feel sterile and cold. Now back to Jags and I have been very pleased. Six years old and still a head turner getting lots of unsolicited compliments. No car draws like a Jag. 32 MPG on a 400 mile highway trip (70+MPH). I use the recommended premium on trips but regular around town. These are a bargain on the used market. Paid $18,000 for a beautiful car with only 43,000 miles. For that price I could have been stuck in a new econobox.

I always wanted a Jaguar but had been afraid of poor reliability. I bought the new aluminum 2004 and love it. It is the best ride of any car I have owned. Looks distinctive and rides so smoothly and quietly it is hard to keep it within the speed limit. It has had no significant problems except for some false positives on the engine coolant warning light and remote keys that went dead in a few months. Minor compared to other cars I have bought new. Would definitely buy a Jag again but will probably keep this car for years. Jag has done a great job.

The 2004 Jaguar XJ's is a must have for anyone looking for true class in a high end luxury automobile. This vehicle is built to last for many years to come. The 1st thing is that it does not rust, with an aluminum body and top paint sealers with fine grain quality paint the vehicle will be preserved looking new externally with little detailing efforts. The top quality interior leather and wood trims is double stitched with long lasting threads which again preserves its original luster from day one off the showroom floor of the dealership. The bottom line, the car was built to last and it will become an icon representing the last few years of the the original iconic Jaguar design. The 8 cylinder V8 4.2L engine gives you all the power you would ever need on the highway, over 400 horsepower if you have the XJR models with their supercharger built in. It can compete with today's Mercedes, BMW's, Cadillac, Lexus, etc. in every areas even in acceleration with its impressive 0-60 mph in a mere 5 seconds. Any owner of this vehicle not want any of the others mentioned because the do not possess the legacy of the Jaguar class. You become the envy on the road owning a classic Jaguar.

Best built car that I have driven in over 60 years. It is comfortable, has excellent performance, and is quiet. It lacks rear seating sufficient leg room, and lacks the elegant interior and exterior appearance of previous Vanden Plas models. Rear seating tray tables were omitted from this year's Vanden Plas. My wife and I each have one. The rear seats are occupied rarely, and so we are very happy with ours.

This car is so understated - it is incredibly powerful (supercharged 4.2L with 400HP, 0-60 in under 5 seconds), smooth and looks amazing. Terrific quality also - nothing like the old Jags... This is based on the X350 frame and is made of aluminum so the car is much lighter from 2004 onwards.

Xenon self leveling lights, radar cruise control, folding mirrors, auto pull down trunk great sound system, Brembo brakes and Nav. system.Nice badging to tell it's a XJR and more.

Have owned our Radiance Red/Ivory Leather Vandan Plas for 5.5 years now. It is still perfect in every way. It has never made a visit to the dealer for anything except routine maintenance. It gets 28-30 mpg on the highway.(Averaged 28.6 mpg on trip from New England to Florida a few years back and that average included local driving! Only weighs 3800 lbs due to Aluminum structure and ours was the 1st year of release and is short wheel based just as we like it. This has been our 2nd XJ (the only real Jag saloon) and both have been flawless. No one does luxury like the Brits!

My late husband was British. Having owned a Jaguar in the past, he suggested at some point I should purchase one. I did so and have been paying through the nose on repairs ever since. It is something every month with this car and the repairs are not cheap. I have had continuous transmission issues, electrical issues, air shock issues etc. The list goes on....a new code every week. About the time I think I will sell or trade the car, a new code, a new repair. My advice is unless you just have money to spend, stay away from a Jaguar! Sure wish I had. I have been asked to update my review. Oct. 6, 2018. My Jag is currently in the hands of a 2nd mechanic. The 1st one had it for 2 wks. and never could get the car to stay running. All kinds of codes came up, but couldn't resolve any of them. 2nd mechanic reprogrammed the computer and I was notified the car is running beautifully now. I hope it continues to do so. I really do get frustrated with this car, but I do not want a car payment. I am comfortable with using my Jag for local use, but I am not sure it is trustworthy for long road trips. I still hold to my feelinog that I would never buy another Jag. It's April 10, 2020 and time for an update review on my 2004 Jaguar xj8. I still haven't changed my mind about this Jag. However, the costs of repairs is much better than having a new car payment. I realize owning an older car requires more repairs, but with a Jag, they are never cheap. Since my last review, I have invested another 2k into this car. Last towed about 2 months ago to a highly rated import garage. They had the car for 2 weeks trying to get my car's computer to respond to theirs. Finally, all issues diagnosed and repaired. A week later the "air suspension fault" reading came on. I haven't begun to deal with this issue yet. My only advice is to really be careful when purchasing an older Jag and especially an xj8 model. Unfortunately, I still cannot give a positive review update about this car. I literally got this out of the repair shop (AGAIN) 2 days ago along with a $1500 repair bill. I only keep this car because I do not want another car pmt and besides blue book value has gone down so much. It behooves me how such a beautiful and elite car can have so much go wrong with it. 4/13/2021-I must admit I have a love/hate relationship with my Jaguar. I have realized with my car being 17 years old, she’s is just like an aging person. It’s interesting when I am asked if I want to update my review because it is at a time when my Jag needs work. As of now, 2 headlights are out (expected), door locks have decided to go crazy (very expensive repair) and air suspension fault code keeps coming on. The one thing that saves this Jaguar to remain in my ownership, people will always say “what a beautiful car!” Hard to believe she is 17 years old. I do know I will never buy another one, but I admit she is a beautiful car! I have been asked to update my review. I just spent 3k on my Jag. Just when I am thinking of giving her up, someone comes along and says what a beautiful car. They find it hard to believe the Jag is 17 years old. The air suspension is what is costing the most. I do love these older Jags. I still would think twice before buying one. It’s time to update my review again. I am not having to spend as much money on repairs, but my Jag is now 18 years old and the repairs are costly. The last 2k spent was to repair many miscellaneous items. I realize with my Jag being 18 years old, there will be needed repairs. However, I do love this car and it’s in excellent condition inside and out. There are times when I have a love hate relationship with my Jag, but love rules! 4/14/2023 I have been asked to update my past reviews on my 2004 Jaguar xj8. Given the fact my Jag is 19 yrs old, she has been behaving herself lately. However, I do have all kinds of dashboard warnings coming up......just to name a few, check engine light stays on, air supension fault, no ABS disc brakes, radion has stopped working and sometimes the backup warning is on when backing up for no reason. Just about the time I think I need to let her go, someone will say "what a beautiful car that is." When I hear this, I decide to keep hanging onto her. I only drive locally so I don't use my Jag that much now. As much as I do love this car, if I had known everything that could go wrong with the 2004 xj8, I would not have bought it. UPDATE on October 17,2023 I simply cannot part with my Jaguar. I decided to put the money into starting the restoration of my 19 year old Jag. I started by having all the mechanics needed (3k). Next phase I had her painted…..back the same color of course ($3k) and the final was a complete detailing. Finally, I am so very happy with my restored Jag. This car has always drawn people’s attention, but now I have those that wish to buy it. I have no intentions of letting my Jaguar go. I have had a love/hate relationship with this car, but I will not sale.

Ok, I've owned my Jag since 2004 bought it new in Texas and drove it straight to Arizona. I've had only a few issues with the big cat in the 8 years I've had her. Electric issues with the A/C, and the cruise control. That's all! Once fixed I've had no other issues with them. My Jag has 58,375miles and is an awesome family car. My kids love the cool factor, my wife loves the way it drives and I love the safety features that it offers. I'm not a Jag man but I do love owning it. I also own a 2001 Ferrari 360, 2009 GMC Sierra and a BMW M3. I take care of my rides so they can take care of me.

I cannot quite believe that I am getting a Jaguar. My last 3 cars were BMWs. I do not like the design of the new BMW. The quality of the new Mercedes was inferior. The new XJ8 design, quality, performance, and value are clearly superior to BMW and Mercedes. My new XJ8 is extraordinarily comfortable. The performance is terrific. This is not your father's Jaguar. The new aluminum body is a leap ahead of the competion.

The car is pretty to look at, has a fantastic engine, and rides like a dream. These were the things I was looking for in a car. I was hoping that Ford's $3 billion investment several years before this car would resolve reliability issues. Nope. This car had a number of advancements that didn't quite work and are expensive to fix: 1) electric parking break, 2) air suspension, 3) aluminum unibody (rust), 4) transmission leaks. I've dropped $11K on my $18K car thus far. It has 50K miles. Also, the handling isn't quite on par with the German cars; it does't love curves and corners. In short, be careful with your expectations on this one.

I have owned MBZ,AUDI'S,Cadillacs and other Jags. I don't know how jag does it for the money. The germans just can't get it right when it comes to the luxury interior of their cars. Jag has the best interior of them all in its price range. I think for the money Jaguar gives you the best value for your money!!!!. I looked at Lexus LS430, and I would not pay that much for a japanese car. The mercedes was at least $15,000 more for less car. In my opinion the Jaguar has the best value for the money. This is by far the best Jag ever. Even my friends who have other luxury cars agree that Jag has hit a home run with this 2004 XJ.

I replaced my 2001 S-Type 4.0 with the XJ8. When I drove it I couldn't believe the differences from the past XJ's or even the S-Type. It is fast, smooth and handles incredibly well. In fact, believe it or not, you might even say it is too powerful. If it's even a remote thought of a car choice, go drive it and see what you think. The only negatives rest with the brakes being too sensitive and a couple of rattles. It certainly doesn't have the style differentiation of the S-Type, but it's a car I will be pleased to drive for three years.

This car has been a wonderful driving experience for my first few days of ownership. It is fast, quiet, smooth, and very responsive. It is a very slick, attractive vehicle, but it is clean, elegant and understated. The supercharger offers the power when you want it, but it is very driveable in normal city driving. I am getting about 17 mpg on the first few tanks of gas---- which seems good for a 390 HP V8 in city driving!

I have had 3 Vanden Plas' and loved them. Ford has turned a beautiful Jaguar into a Bobbed Cat. They took all the extras out and put in stuff you see on most every cheep car. No back seatleg room at all, small doors, bad visibility hard to read middle panel. Looks like everything else on the road. What more don't you want in an expensive car? Please take mine.
