This cat purrs but doesn't roar

The best looking sedan on the road - by far. Nothing beats the style of this car, inside and out. This is my second Jag - my first a '95 XJ6 was also a dream. I wish I'd opted for the 4.0 (don't like the R, I want the chrome)- the 3.0 6 cyl lacks response in lower gears. After having driven a BMW 5 series for the last 3 years, I was used to lightning quick excitement. Still, the beauty, grace and ride quality are more than worth the trade-off in acceleration. And did I say it was the best looking car on the road? This is a head-turner - no mistaking this car for anything but a Jag. I am so sold on Jags I got an X-type for my daughter.

The 2003 S Type

It's the little things that annoy me. The automatic trunk release doesn't always pop open all the way. The climate control stopped working and got stuck on hot, very hot! Overall the car has a nice smooth ride and it's very comfortable. All the luxury features are a plus. The car has excellent accelaration with all the controls at your fingertips.

It is nice to be driving a car again that other people, Complete strangers, come up to you and compliment on the cars looks and color or style. I did not get that with my Mercedes and have not had it happen since I owned a Jaguar before. Twelve years and five other cars before.

Unreliable Jaguar

Excellent driving car and good road mileage. But just spent $4,523 for repairs on a car with only 43,652 miles on it. Bought it with 20,000 miles on it and have taken it to only the dealer for service. Head light leveling device went out, $932.75. Clunk in rear end at low speeds, replace flange-output, $586.63. Brakes and rotors,$1,779.57. Dealer said sorry for first two items. I expected to pay for brakes. They said it is out of warranty, which is 4 years or 50,000 miles. Even Hyundai has a 10 year and 100,000 miles! I have owned three BMWs and great backup in the past. I owned a 62'Jaguar XKE convertible and loved it's driving but hated it unreliability.

Just purchased an S-type 4.2 after trading in my Mercedes E320. Wow what a difference. This car will blow anything away with its 300 hp. I noticed after having the car for just a couple of days that they brakes were squeaking. The dealership ended up replaceing the brakes in the front for FREE. Something that is not even covered in warranty, so needless to say, we are happy. I love my British Racing Green Jag!!!
