1996 Isuzu Trooper S-PEP
Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Forget Consumer Reports "unacceptable due to tendancy to roll". I've found this vehicle to perform very well under all weather driving conditions during all four seasons in New England.
Best Trooper Yet
While this is not a performance vehicle, it does do what is was intended to do very well. I am impressed with the quality and reliability of this year Trooper. With all the options that this Limited version has it will satisfy many looking for comfort and safety. With its build quality and engineering it is easy to maintain. 200,000 plus miles is easily do-able with all the routine maintenance performed.
Avoid Isuzu
Due to an underdesign, the engine burns oil FAST! The only fix is to rebuild the engine. This engine is not friendly for the DIY'er.
Trooper2005
Have had for 11 years now and it's still the car my teen-aged kids want to drive the most. It's still very stylish and reliable. It is great in snow and big enough to carry my entire family or haul stuff. The only major problem is that the head gasket tends to leak slowly. My mechanic says it's best to just let it be as I only go through 1 qt of oil every 3000 miles - not bad.
Trooper limited
Purchased from the original owner and with ultra low miles (15,000) and in as new condition. Handling is a bit ponderous, but it's a truck. Love the dual locking front/rear axles and compared to domestics, very quiet in 4X4 mode. Pig on gas, great build quality. Leather seats are very firm, great for long hauls but almost like sitting on a board for short runs. Biggest sunroof I have ever seen, quality product; too bad GM didn't promote it.
