Used 2005 INFINITI G35 x AWD 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
2005 Infiniti G35x Owner Report
Overall the G35x is fun to drive and has lots of power. The AWD really grabs the road and makes cornering a breeze. Gas mileage is poor for a six cyl. I get about 21 on the road and 19 around town. My previous vehicle (a 6 cyl Bonneville with EFI) got 23 around town and 29 on the road with only slightly less pep.
One Month Review
I've had my G35x for a few weeks now. It is everything I expected. Outstanding performance with very luxurious features for this market segment. Prior to purchase I looked at 3series, A4 3.0 Qttro, Passat GLX, and Volvo S60. All with AWD, all similar price range. But none came close to performance of the G35 (except the 330 which cost thousands more). More importantly, the complaints made about the 04 model have been addressed in the 05! Steering wheel controls now illuminate, horsepower is up to 280, and the steering wheel telescope is now power operated with memory seat. If you want a head-turning sport sedan with AWD for around $35k (includes premium package)...check out this car!

First Impressions of 2005 G35 AWD
A great car for the winter. I just logged 150 miles on a snowy highway trip in Upstate NY. The car handled great -- it really sticks to the road. I plan to get snow tires next season (even with the AWD, since AWD drive does nothing to help stop the car on snow and ice) but the factory supplied all seasons did well. The G35X replaced a 99 Passat GLS (V6) -- a great car until suspension problems (with an $1100 repair, recall for same) and other mechanical probles at 60K made me look for something more reliable. I purchased the 2005 G35X in February and hope to be driving it well past 60K. This car is reported to have very high reliability -- better than the Acura TL.
buyers remorse
While the 2005 G35X is fun to drive in a straight line and pretty goon on flat turns, after just 4 months I am ready to take a bath on it and get a 2006 BMW 3 series. The brake peddle squeeks, the windows rattle too much and there is a noise in the pillar that drives me nuts. It is fun to drive, roomy and less than a BMW, but as they say you get what you pay for and it doesn't feel near as solid as a Jetta I once had. After just 1000 miles the firm solid ride turned into a floating avg. car. To me it's little more than an Altima with luxury features. I got XM, Premium, DVD in mine. Over all I am very disappointed with the purchase.
