a lot to offer
The Tiburon has a lot to offer anyone who is looking for a sporty car with great looks and lots of extra goodies. Everything is nicely finished and conveniently located inside. The seats hold you firmly in place. The torque on the car is crazy and the driving is exciting. There are lots of aftermarket add ons to make your Tibby custom and an even better performer. One is the Alpine Developments supercharger which can make over 300hp to the wheels. The exterior design is gorgeous. The car is modeled after the Ferrari 456 and in Korea it carries the name Tuscani, a town in Italy. The tires, wheels and suspension (which was developed together with Porsche designers) offer a sporty feel. All this for under 20k.
Might Be Too Soon To Rate, But...
I think I'm in love. This is my first time buying a new car and/or a stick shift for that matter, but I am really enjoying this vehicle. You will definately get a lotta eye contact from others with the very sleek and unique look of the Tiburon. I'm still new to the whole manual driving thing, but in comparison to many cars i have been in this baby can move. I have a best freind who has a 2002 RSX S and he prefers to drive my Tiburon. I'm definItely goinG to customize my ride, but as is from the dealership you will definItely love how this car looks, sounds, and performs stock.

Hyundai Surprise
For the money you cannot beat the quality of the vehicle and the buzz you will get from driving it. The 172 horsepower is a bit better than average but you can tweak this engine for minimal dollars and stay within the warranty. The vehicle's cornering ability is outstanding and the sports car feeling is outstanding. Best bang for the buck.
A great car!
I love this car. It rides smooth, steers excellently, and is just an all around great car. Its body style isn't like everyone else's, so to me it doesn't look like everything else on the road. I am a very happy new car owner.

My Shark
Awesome vehicle! Feels like the Porsch 928 I had when I was a kid. Great power and handling. Gets a lot of stares. The front seating offers a lot of room. Much more than the Mustang we test drove.
Love this Car
This is a great car. much improved over the years. Great handling. The new styling is so nice; I much prefer the new grill and air dam. The car is pretty quick and loves to go fast!
Constantly making it better
I was wowed when I drove this little pocket rocket. Superb performance, acceleration and braking. I bought it after one test drive. I was somewhat dismayed when it was recalled by Hyundai after owning it for only one week to replace tie rods that apparently were not standing up to their (Hyundai's) expectations. They further upgraded the steering gear to compliment the upgrade. Despite my temporary disappointment, I was impressed and delighted how fast and incredibly efficient Hyundai is at correcting a problem in their product. This is one great little car that is tight, fast and comfortable. Don't compare the 2005 Tiberons to the first ones, this is a whole different animal!
Best buy for your buck
I just bought this car and what a great car. Very well designed style and very sturdy, quiet, sleek and smooth. The underbody has a sprayed on coating to deaden any road noise.
Too Much Torque
I am a big fan of the Hyundai Line, But it feels like the designers messed up one spot. Torque to the front wheels. When pulling out from a dead stop, there is extreme torque steer. Other than that, I love the ride, look, and performance of the vehicle and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable sports car.
My second Tiburon
Before this I owned a 2001 Tiburon and I put 133,000 miles in 4.5 years. I had one repair or the timing belt at 125,000 miles. This one of course is new, but I am loving the ride and some improvements and extras on the base model. I was disappointed that Cruise Control is not base in this model but it has keyless entry and an alarm and a couple of other nice things that the other one didn't have. Also the interior of the 2001 was jazzier.. but overall I love it!
my tiburon
this car is the most fun i've ever had with a new car .drives great, greatperformance.
Awsome Car
This car is great, it has good gas milage, reliablity is flawless, it's very fun, it's fastit turns heads as you drive by, it sounds nice, and is very exotic looking, inside and out. I would highly recommend this car. You cant go wrong with the Hyundai warrenty. You most definatley get more for your money, I got mine for 15300 out the door, and all my friends envy me. I am very happy with this car, thank Hyundai!
Nice price for a good competitor
The tiburon has sufficient power to put you back in your seat. The shifter feels loose even while in gear. The car has problems taking off when the rpms are higher than 3000. The clutch is grossly inadequent if you plan on taking to the races. The car comes alive with a few small engine mods. This car has tons of features for the price and will beat alot of the competitors in this class. The ride on the highway is remarkably smooth for this type of sport compact car. There are 2 seats in the back of the car, but are not comfortable for a person taller than 5'5".
Great car great price
I bought my tib a little over two weeks ago, 05 GT V6 5M, leather everything, sunroof, infinity system, 17" inch rims, free extended warranty (yes free), for 16,900 off the lot. Great car, pretty quick, handles great, solid ride, perfect style.
little car lot's of heart
I am 6' 4" and fit almost peerfectly into the Tiburon. For the weight and the small six it is extremely spirited. I am extremely surprised by the Tib being as I traded a 2003 Silverado for it, good power, the interior was well thought out and it rides well for a more sport suspension than what I am used to. Over all this car will impress not only on price but quality and performance as well.
Awesome Car
Just bought the car not even a month ago and I love it. Great bang for the buck!
My Little Toy
Tiburon handles very well on curves and turns. The backseat is roomy that my 10 year old son and my 3 year old daughter comfortably fit. In fact, my kids always prefer to ride in my Tiburon rather than my wife's 4 door midsize sedan, no matter how far the destination is. Very aggressive looking yet undeniably attractive, especially if you throw some nice wheels on the vehicle. Not to mention owning the Tiburon with a very low cost of ownership, because of the great warranty.
Beware of The Shark!
Always wanted a Tibby since new generation body styling....It's finally mine! I love this car. Comfortable and unique bucket seats. Quiet but powerful V6. Great exterior & interior styling. Best bang for the buck! Move over Honda and Toyota...we now have a Korean car with TONS of aftermarket mods available. My soon-to-be "Tuscani Black Shark" is a fun ride 110% of the time!
At this Price--What's Not to Like
I have owned sports cars since I was 16, now 62, and this is one is rated as one of the best bangs for the buck. There are faster, slicker cars but at what price. If you are looking for a well built, comfortable, fun to drive sports car that won't break the bank then you must look at this car. Even us baby boomers can have fun with this car.
I love it
I love the tiburon-its fun to drive- very zippy with the shiftronic. only complaint is the suspension-very bumpy ride on rough roads. on smooth highway its fine
Tiburon GT
Love the look of the Vehicle and boy is it quick when it needs to go! Good on gas. Not very comfortable for me to drive.
the best car ever
this is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants the sporty car but also a reliable one
Great car for the money
At first I had serious doubts about buying a hyundai, but the tiburon GTV6 seriously changed my mind. The power is satisfying for the daily driver. The styling, both interior and exterior, is awesome. You can't find a better warranty anywhere. And you can't beat the price. It's a lot of car for the money. You just can't go wrong with this car.
I can't keep it under 80!
This car is way too much fun. The review compares it to an RSX with an inline 4, and I say, how dare you? The V6 is where most of the weight is, and a few minor adjustments will drop the weight by 100 pounds. The clutch is the weakest part of the car for me, it just isn't fast enough, too much travel with factor settings.
I love my Tib!
I've owned a Ford Mustang LX 5.0 & an Acura Integra GS-R in the past, & this car is just as fun & handles just as well. It could use more pick up/power, but that's my fault for not spending the extra $ to buy the V6. Too bad I had such a horrible experience w/the Hyundai dealer not honoring the lemon law on a used Acura Integra LS they sold me before I bought the Tib.
Dream Machine
I went from an Infiniti, G35 to this swift, economical, and affordable vehicle. I wasn't sure it was the right decision at first because, in this society, we always worry about what other people think. Furthermore, going from one extreme vehicle to the other was dramatic. But I'm proud of my cute, fancy machine. It's sturdy, does good on gas, and is fun to cruise and drive. I get the fun I want for over 15,000 dollars less in cost. I would recommend this car to anyone that wants the power, excitement and fun of this vehicle. Oh, leave the kids at home! Don't let the Hyndai name push you away. They've made tremendous improvements and are ranked third least
chose tiburon over a BMW
this car is extremely beautiful. i get asked at least 3 times a week what kind of car it is, and no one believes its a hyundai. the exterior lines and styling are PERFECT. this car looks like an expensive italian import. interior is roomier than competition and the seats are very supportive. steering/handling is unbelievably good. in these times of high gas prices, i love buying 87 and getting the great economy out of this car.
shark review
I love this car more than mostly any other car.I love the body style and the sports car look of it.
Super Car! (just avoid the dealer!)
Test drove both the RX-8 and the '05 Mustang. MUCH more room inside than the Mustang, cool sporty looks like the RX- 8, better Warranty than both! Better value than both RX-8 or Mustang! I wager I get more questions about what kinda car the Tiburon is than I would driving an "everyone-knows-car" mustang (ho-hum) and the RX-8 which resembles most of the other Mazada models... Want a head-turner for low cost? This is the one you've been looking for!
MOSTLY SATISFIED WITH A FEW MINOR ISSUES
I drove the RSX-S, WRX, and Scion TC before purchasing my Tib. Those 4- bangers just can compare to the power and torque of the V6 this car has. Stylish exterior with a high-quality interior...great sound system. So far so good but I've had to have it aligned and the clutch is shuddering at only 6K miles which makes me a little concerned about the long-term reliability of this vehicle. My only truly major complaint is the choppy, cheap suspension which is just garbage compared to other vehicles in this class. Does not take bumps well at all but handles okay otherwise. Vague clutch. A very smooth and comfortable highway car though. Loaded with options...a real value for the money.
new to hyundai....
I used to own a RX8 and I never felt like I do with my new Tiburon GT. I love the exterior styling, price, performance, gas mileage, everything about my new Tiburon.
Best coupe for the money!
I absolutely love this car. I've been looking at them since the redesign in 2002 and finally was able to pick one up. Sure it's not as powerful (horsepower) as some of the competition, but you won't notice when you get behind the wheel. I haven't seen a better looking car for under $25000 (and yes, I've looked).
Its a Real pleasure
This is my first sport car so I can't compare it to any other sport car, but I feel it needs more power. perfect handling (without a high performance suspensions and tires) The only bad thing about it that its very difficult to find accessories and modification for the body and the engine as well
The Tiburon Rocks
It looks good when I get there, and I get there as fast as I wish. What more can you say about a car? It's sporty, cool, and certainly affordable enough, not to mention fairly reasonable (about 24 mpg average) economically. I recommend it highly.
Very Satisfied
Love it. Super reliable, especially coming from a Ford. Gets tons of looks from people. Looks more expensive than it really is. Biggest complaint? Fixed mast antenna. Should be integrated into rear window.
So Much for the Money!
We have owned our Tiburon SE for almost 2 years and can't believe the incrediable value of this vehicle. It is loaded with every bell and whistle and so much fun to drive. The exterior design is sleek and expensive looking.
When I want to go....I go
Way fun to drive. Especially in the hills of KY & my many trips to Central NY. This baby loves the hills & hugs the road. Be prepared for others to try to race you. I have been driving (I'm 40) and had young kids try to race me. However, I know now whats up and why as when I bought this car I thought it was cute. Only when I got a flat tire was I told this is a "High Performace" vehicle. Not to mention my cousin how runs a shop asked me why I bought it and like I said to him....I missed driving a coupe and it was just plain fun to drive.
1.5 Years Later
Overally I am happy with my purchase, no major issues at all. The sunroofs a bit quirky, but works. This car is a real head turner, I changed the hyundai logos to the ones used in Korea and Australia (Tuscani) and people always now ask if its some special european car. There are not too many on the road so I frequently see people stairing at my car as I am driving, kinda funny being in a Hyundai, not really though of a sporty or exotic. I like the 6spd manual, makes the car really fun to drive but it is a gas guzzler. I think the 28mpg is only if you driver very conserativly. On the highway I say I get ~25mpg depending on how much I push the car.
How to get a 40k car for half that.
Been looking at a Tiburon since Hyundai came out with them. I owned a 1992 and 1994 Excel in the past. Loved the little cars... but Hyundai has moved to a whole new level with this. The car looks BEAUTIFUL. Heads turn constantly. Not much room in the back, as long as that is not important. Rear seats are for lower insurance, as they are too small & anyone over 5'6" will feel cramped. Leather interior well crafted; all controls in easy reach and well placed. Shifting is easy. Stay away from the automatic as this car is TOO much fun and is too fast. Shifting is require to get full enjoyment out of car. In fact, get the 6 speed for better gas millage on freeways.
Awesome
Don't know about these critics of the SE version. I have over 30000 miles on mine and have had zero problems with it and I'm a very spirited driver. The six speed tranny is precision so maybe that's the problem some are having. They don't know how to drive it. All I've ever owned are manual shift sports cars. Even had a Camaro and the Tiburon SE is faster to 60 and has a faster top speed (145 with no mods at redline). Not too bad when there is over a litre of difference in the engine size. Not much more to ask for. And to those knocking the performance compared to other V6 cars, I can keep up with a Mustang GT with no problem. Just got to know when to shift, and how to drive!!!
Tidalwave Blue is as true as it gets
We walked into the dealership looking for a Sonata, not a Tiburon. What we found was fun and excitement. I have known others that have own Hyundais before and a family member bought one when they first came to the US. What crap they were back then. Always breaking down, always under powered. That isn't the same Hyundais we see now. The 2005 Tiburon is stylish and very good looking. Not a retro look of the new Mustang but stylish nonetheless. The lines are beautiful to look at, and if it looks as good driving down the road as it does sitting still it is amazing. It handles like a dream and rides just as well. All around a great car.
dntbuyit
I bought this vehicle from the dealership at first the vehilce was fine, i got 1/2 mi down the road they never put antifreeze in the car!! then they drove me around in circles on what they were going to do. I called hyundai Motor America and they have not called back in 3 weeks on what is going on they said they would trade out vehicle. Nothing has happened. Some plastic pieces are allready falling off the car. and it has 1400 mi not worth the money that they want for it. unless it's free don't bother buy a mini cooper S instead!!!!
2005 Tiberon
The Tiberon is a real pleasure to drive. It makes me feel like I'm on the Indy 500 track. It's acceleration is great and corners like a go-cart. It's breaking distance is excellent. I am 68 years old and when I'm driving my Tiberon, I feel Like I'm 16, and behind the wheel of my dream car, the corvette. I have not checked out the top speed but I'm sure it will do all I need on the highway. When I drive my Tiberon, heads turn. Many people have walked up to me in the car and asked what kind of cat is that? It's a beauty. I Love my Tiberon.
my car
I love driving this car - lots of fun and lots of compliements.
Fun car
I love this car. I have not had a bit of problem with it. The only people that complain are the ones that have to sit in the back. The only thing I would change is the color, I chose black and it is hard to keep clean.
College student owned!
I bought this car with my own money during high school. It seemed like a great car at first but over time I realized it might not have been the most practical vehicle to purchase. Let's go over some pros and cons. For PROS: the lack of seating prevents you from being the designated driver for events, mpg on the highway is roughly 25-26, looks of the vehicle are clean, and the trunk storage is alright. Let's hit some CONS: poor fuel economy in the city whether you speed or go slow, horrible ground clearance so get ready to feel like you wrecked your front bumper after going over normal bumps, curbs, and dips in the road, since you sit low, half the oncoming cars at night will seem as if they have their high beams on, getting out of the car can be an annoyance, quality of the car is cheap (with a quality sound system, the car rattles from base), all 4 of my motor mounts broke and the cost to fix it is 1/3 of my resale value, the transmission slips, it's a 4 speed so doing 70 mph puts you at like 3k rpm which just seems weird compared to other 5 and 6 speed vehicles. Also, the driver seat will be uncomfortable if you have long legs.. You can move the seat. Forward and backwards but the steering wheel can only be adjusted vertically so I feel like my legs are crunched up when I drive because I prefer to have a decent grip on the steering wheel & lastly, she is a FWD car. ON THE BRIGHTSIDE, the car has been one fun trooper. I've driven the car pretty hard at times including passing other cars (she'll purr for ya), done a little dirt driving, hauled a tandem kayak on the roof with a "soft rack" strapped on, and have just put it through a fun college student experience in general. She still runs hard with her broken motor mounts and transmission slips.
