This is the best equipped, best built, best designed, AND best priced car on the market. Body integrity is outstanding. Design completeness is apparent thru out. I looked at all the available cars in the competitive arena and kept coming back to the Sonata.

Nice car-poor mileage

Nice car and good price after incentives. Good engine power and smooth transmission. Much standard equipment. Terrible gas mileage- 20.7 mpg best ever achieved on highway, not even close to the promised 30 mpg, which was a strong reason for the purchase. Very noticeable engine lag on acceleration. Distressing suspension noise intrudes in the cabin on uneven surfaces, and busy ride. Too much body lean on curves. Loud knock in dashboard. Steering feels heavy. Seat comfort is disappointing. A and B trips? Where's B? Heavy initial lift of trunk lid.

I never thought I would have a Hyundai sitting in my driveway. Happened to see the commercial and thought it looked nice. The more I found out about it, the more I liked it. Car has lived up to all my expectations so far except gas mileage is low (mine has averaged approx. 22.5 mpg 80% highway) Build quality and driving experience are excellent for a car this price. Wouldn't have bought the new model without the warranty.

Still happy after 3 years

Very attractive and reliable car. Have put 36K miles on it in 3 years and have been very please with overall performance. Only issues have been minor. Has excellent power for a 4- banger and gets great mileage (esp on the open road). Switch on power seat and a brake light switch have had to be replaced; other than that - nothing. Only complaint is that the car sits so low to ground that it makes changing own oil a challenge.

Out the door price just over 23K! And I get ESC, TC, EBDS, Homelink, Heated Leather Seats, over-sized Moon Roof (it's big), subwoofer & amp. Car is very well built and the fit & finish is better than Camry, on par w/ Accord. The interior is soft to the touch. Love the way the engine growls, especially in low rpm's. Lots of low end torque for fast acceleration from dead stop. Downshifts smoothly during high speed passing. Nav is a $2500 dollar dealer installed option. Remove cd changer & replace w/ 8-9" screen. (visit Korean Hyundai site to see it) Hyundai uses Eclipse deck (very high quality, installing next month)

We bought two brand new 06' Sonatas, one is Black (for me) the other is a "silver/gold" *depends on the lighting* (for the wife). They are both sharp looking and drive excellent. The seats almost feel like bucket seats, but you can move more freely. Also the shiftronic is awesome, with standard automatic transmissions you can't downshift to pickup speed when you are going up hill or need to pass somebody. Since we bought two we needed to save as much as possible and got the GL, it isn ot as nice looking on the inside as the GLS, but it's still very classy. The trunk is huge, even bigger than my wifes old Accord. I love the keyless entry, when you unlock the doors the inside lights come on.

I heard a lot about this car even well before it came out. I used to have preoccupation with Hyundai that it only sells cars at a low cost with below par quality, but not anymore. I bought this car, actually my mother, about 4 months ago, and I am completely fascinated with this car (GLS V6). Its got lot of horsepower and has very attractive interior and exterior design. I was very surprised about the engine, because it is very strong and at the same time, very quite. Also, its interior is very roomy. I am about 6 feet and I have no problem sitting in the back. I really want to recommend this car to those who are looking for a mid-size family sedan. It is a car that you don't want to miss.

We have had this for four months now and love this car. Performance, handling, and ride comfort are outstanding. The mp3 player will also play wma's. The only complaint is fuel mileage. Don't expect good mileage from this car. We have averaged just over 20 MPG. You should test drive this before you buy anything else.

My wife compaired cars based on interior room. For the last 13 years and 197,000 miles later we have owned two Dodge Intrepids. 2 weeks ago the A/C had to be repaired in Feb.. Even for Dodge, that's impressive. Instead of driving home after the car was repaired, a stop was made at our local Hyundai dealership. The car was appraised and I presented a news paper ad for a Sonata LX. Much to my surprise, the offer was just too good to pass up. Went home, discussed the offer with my wife and now she drives a wonderful car with Leather interior. My son and I share an Explorer Sports Trac. He is in 11 grade. He loves the v6 with auto stick. I love the 10 year inclusive warranty.

When I first saw this car through commercial, I thought "well thats a good looking car from hyundai". I didn't really care, until I saw a silver one on the road. I was in the market for a relatively reliable, all-around characteristic, and bang-for-the-buck sedan, so I visited Hyundai dealership right away. I was blown away when I first saw it, and I was in love with it when I got inside of it. I bought it after I test drove it. Do I need to say more? H is no long solely standing for Honda anymore. There is something called Hyundai coming very fast. I was never fan of hyundai. I heard few people saying its a nice car. Now, I believe it.

When choosing this car, I did more research than usual. I started about a year ago, and thoroughly researched 4 or 5 other mid size cars in the $18- 22K price range. I compared everything having to do with size, performance, reliability, and safety, including intangible, subjective, and emotional factors. Things kept coming up Sonata, and not by a small margin. It was the clear winner. The only factor that gave me pause was the lack of reliability data in the new engine and transmission. I fell back to 2000- 2005 Hyundai quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction records, and I found them to be very acceptable and improving. I knew about all the negatives going in, and there have be

I thoroughly enjoy the comfort, quietness and overall performance of this vehicle and would recommend it to anyone looking for a sporty midsized car with a modest, but stunning look.

I really wanted a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord, but I couldn't afford one. I liked the new look of the Sonata and i was in the right place at the right time. We love our car. This is a handsome quality vehicle, well-appointed inside, possessing every safety feature I was looking for, at a remarkably low price and with an exceptionally robust warranty. The 4 cylinder has plenty of power and is quiet while cruising at 75 mph. Mileage is somewhat disappointing in the city and is not particulary great on the highway, considering it's a four. In a nutshell, hat's off to Hyundai for bringing this great car to the American market.

This is my second review. Wife and daughter T-boned a lady driving a Saturn Outlook doing 50 MPH in our Sonata GLS, then spun out into a ditch. Based on the damage our car was totaled. The Sonata held up very well, all 4 doors would still open and the front end crumple zones took the impact very well. I was very impressed with the safety of the vehicle, both wife and daughter walked away pretty much unharmed. I would buy another Sonata based on this alone, including other features like the fun to drive, comfort and reliability factor. BEST car on the market for the money, hands down.

I have owned my car for 17 months, bought is at 13k miles, now at 38,500k. So far it's been very reliable except for one issue. It has a tendency to cut out or have minor hesitation when going up hills. Dealership says nothing is wrong, not hard coding. I use the 100% gas (non ethanol)and it seems to help. The front seats lack comfort. My back quickly starts hurting on trips, I must use a small pillow for the lumbar area. Have already had the following replaced: Driver side door lock, sun visor and window assembly.

Build quality is excellent, interior is well laid-out but materials are less classy than some competitors. Ride is excellent, though not particularly exciting. Roominess, fuel economy, and reliability/warranty make this car a fantastic value! But I'll confess that I'm glad it's my wife's car and not mine -- partly because the lack of excitement to drive, partly because at 6'2", I can't straighten out my legs behind the wheel. Still, amazing that we bought it for less than my 2000 Saturn LS1 when new - especially with all those standard safety features.

We expected to buy a European model (VW passat or Volvo S40 or S60) We saw the Hyundai Sonata at an Auto Show, it has all of Features we were looking for (LX model). I was on the fence about VW due to reliability rating I read and Volvo due to a friend's experience was expensive in the maintainance and upkeep (Eats Breaks more than most cars) We found in Sonata the ride, quality of craftmanship and noise level in cabin all similar to European models we liked. The 10/100,000 limited powertrain warranty and 5/ 60,000 Limited Warrenty was also a draw to the stand behind quality of Hyundai. Features, Ride, Craftmanship all are in line with what we wanted for the class of car we bought.

We considered both Camrys and Altimas in addition to the Sonata. We are very pleased that we chose the Sonata. It is a great car for the money and is as appealling at the curbside or on the road as either of the others that we considered. It was the warranty that was the final selling point for our purchase. After 13 years of driving Dodge Intrepids and the loaners due to service the Sonata LX is a more practicle car to own. My son is 18 and he and I share driving an Explorer Sports trac while my wife drives the car. Well, the v6 is very quick and my son has pushed the speedometer further than the law allows. We owned Hondas and Toyotas in the past, now we members of the Hyundai family. My wife has an eye towards the Azera. Very happy with our car. It's now been a month since we took delivery and couldn't be more pleased.

Bought this 06 Sonata brand new. Now it has 33K miles and no problems at all. Wife drives it to work every day and a family car for the week-ends. Engine is powerful and quiet. Interior and trunk are very spacious. ABS brakes and ESC work as designed. Highway mileage is great, city could be better. Overall great car under $20K with power sunroof, ABS, alloy wheels. Great job Hyundai, will definitely buy another Hyundai car or SUV in next couple of years. No wonder Hyundai's sales went up in this down car market while other car makers are suffering.

I did a lot of research, and test driving this time around. And I am so glad , that I chose the Hyundai Sonata. It has so much to offer, and is a great value. It really is a fun car to drive! Plenty of power, and comfort. I got the LX model, with heated leather seats, too many options to name, that you won't find with the competition, very luxurious, and comfortable. It will go head to head with the competition, any day.(Honda Accord),(Toyota Camry). If you don't believe me, just go test drive one today. It certainly isn't the Hyundai of 10 years ago, in fact, it feels like a much more expensive luxury/performance sedan. Best warranty on the market to boot!

It's official, Hyundai has taken the lead. For the same price as an Accord LX or a '07 Camry LE, the Hyundai GLS V6 kicks their butt. 70 more horses. Standard Foglights (important in mtns.) Standard dual exhaust. 16" alloy wheels w/ Michelins as opposed to 15 or 16" steel wheels with plastic hubcaps. Standard traction and stability control. Better ride and equal quality of construction and materials. Ford Fusion doesn't even come close in safety w/o std anti-lock brakes or side airbags. Plus the Fusion's stereo is unchanged in sound quality from my old '83 Tempo, sad.

Had 1999 Sonata GLS for 5 yrs. 120K Excellent vehicle w/ minor cosmetic defects, e.g., turn signal falling of by itself, visor latch doohickey breaking off, etc. & odd declarations that really didn't diminish performance, "wrong HP advertised" (advertised @ 171 was really 161 hp.) But still a quick car. Bought the '06 Sonata LX. 235 horses... interior "supersized" w/ nice leather interior, seat warmers, dual AC/heat controls, huge trunk, and pulling every bit of the horsepower to make this a top end thrill drive. Really fun ride, dependable and good gas mileage (20/30 mpg); my avg. is 28 - 29 in city traffic. W/ gas hitting $2.50/gal, great car, great performance, great value.

This is the 2nd sonata ihave owned and just like the other one NO PROBLEMS. Only this 2006 model is way better than the 2003 model.Rides better handels better roomier and quieter. The only thing i can complain about is the EPA gas mileage. It does not get what it says. Overall it is EXCELLANT and i can vouch for that.

This car has been been very reliable and it drives perfectly. The exterior rivels that of Audi and BMW. My only complaint is the bland and somewhat disfunctional interior.

This is the best car I have ever purchased. For around $21,500 plus taxes and fees, you cannot beat it. Steel Gray exterior is gorgeous! With the sport package alloys the car turns heads. I get compliments all the time. The gas mileage is good for a V6, and the interior is of high quality (Tip: the cloth interior is nicer than the leather). Hyundai is definitely making a run at Honda and Toyota with this car.

Sonata handles very well. Love the new styling, but....liked the previous genration of Sonata better. The exterior was very distinctive. The new model looks almost too much like the Accord. Have owned the car over six months and have put aver 16K in miles on it with no problems. Very pleased. Have recommended friends at least to chekc them out while shopping.

Owned a 2003 Elantra and really really like it. So when the 06 Sonata LX came out we decided to take the plunge. The car is super quiet. cannot believe the sound of the doors closing! Lexus? Traded in a Mercury Grand Marquis, on which I got constant 29 mpg on long trips. So far mileage on this V-6 is about in that range. great car!

We have found the 2006 Sonota to be an excellent car we own a 2005 and this 2006 is much nicer. More room interior, and very bolb exterior. Gas milage has been great 33-36 mpg mostly highway some city. Much quieter than the 2005 seems to have a little more get up and go. Very Happy!
