Just can't stay home
I really took a chance buying a new car on the internet and had never test driven the car, but I haven't regretted my decision for one moment. I knew the moment I first sat in the driver's seat that I'd made the right choice. I've since driven 4400 miles in the 6 weeks that I've owned it and am still looking forward to my next long trip. Just going back and forth to work is not enough. It handles nicely - city and wide-open spaces. I like the style of it, inside and out. I'm getting better gas mileage than I expected.
Best car for the money
I've had my Sonota for only six months and I seem to like it better every day. I drive 92 miles to work and it has been a very comfortable road car, very quiet, and good ride.

Great car for the $
I have had only minor problems with the vehicle. Power antenna sticks. Cd Player problems. Once I approached 30,000 miles, engine squeks. The transmission has a had time finding the right gear.
Not so satisfied customer
I've had two problems already with my Sonata. The first was the engine seized upon acceleration as I was leaving work. They claimed it was due to engine cylinders breaking up - they found some parts in the oil pan. Now I have a problem with the computer it seems. The engine won't cruise with or without cruise control - the RPMs go up and down, acceleration is shotty on automatic (little better when I use the shift-tronic).
My Wife's New Sonata
It would be difficult to find a better car for the price, or even a few thousand more. Even though I dislike the mushy suspension, it's a very comfortable and substantial highway cruiser, and has enough power -- even with the 4-cyl -- for the average driver. Nice touches, like Shiftronic transmission, Michelin MXV4 Energy Plus tires, illuminated window controls, strut supported hood and trunk lid, over-center trunk lid hinges, fog lamps, big radio/CD buttons, extra power outlets. There's plenty of interior space for four large adults. All in all, it's an extremely good car, and affordable, too.
After 6 months, I still love it.
I am very happy with this car. I believe it is one of the best values on the market. Compared to what other car companies are offering for the same price. I stack this sedan toe to toe against comparable sized sedans at a 5 to 8 thousand dollar savings.
Better Than My Benz C280 and 190
Well Built.. Can not go wrong with this price. It's better than my Benz C280 and 190.
Sonata
Solid car for $6K less than competition.
Seems great so far
I have owned the Sonata GLS, V6 about a month now. I'm liking the car a lot so far. The interior is very comfortable. There are many nice touches: center console in the back seat, leather wrapped steering wheel, and lights everywhere. The V6 has good acceleration and handling. It's not as soft as a Taurus but not stiff or harsh on rough roads. The Michelin tires make a difference. My wife likes the car too and says she may skip the Nissan Altima and get a Sonata -- and save $4,000 to 5,000. If reliability is good, the Sonata will be a great value.
pimp'n is easy
I did a lot of research before buying this car. You simply can not get all these features for the price anywhere else. I purchased this lx loaded from a dealer in NC. I don't know how reliable the car is as I have only put 2500 miles on it so far, but the warranty surely makes me feel good. The fact that the bumper to bumper warranty runs out at the same time most people pay the car off is a big plus. I've never had a car warranty last as long as the payments. Overall the car rides and looks great. If you are simply looking for a big name then this is the luxury car for you.
Wow what a car
My wife and I purchased an LX in October that has been loads of fun to drive and is a real head-turner. So far it has been mistaken for a LEXUS and a JAGUAR. While it won't beat anything in the quarter mile, it will do 80 mph (which is my limit) without breaking a sweat. It is extremely comfortable behind the wheel and visibility all around the vehicle is great. It is loaded with all the features that I ever wanted in a car but didn't want to pay for and the warranty gives me piece of mind should anything go awry. I agree with the rough idle comment and the car is less then appreciative when asked to operate before the engine is warm.
2002 Sonata LX
I've owned a Tiburon for a year and a half, so I wasn't afraid of the quality. The Sonata seems to be a well built car. It drives smooth and is quiet inside. After owning several GM products that ended up costing me a fortune on repairs, I decided to get a vehicle that had some warranty to it, and a company that would stand behind it. I am very satisfied with the hyubdai products, and can safely say if the quality stays up, my next vehicle will most likely be another hyundai.
Affraid to get a different car
The 2002 Sonata was the first new car I ever bought. I've been driving it now for close to 7 years and put 137,000 miles on it. At 100,000 my brakes begin to wear out. This is the only time I've had to take it in for major work, but new brakes at 100,000 miles is normal. My Sonata drives today at 137,000 as well as it did when I drove it off the lot with 12 miles on it. I believe that in order to get any car as good as the Sonata, I will have to either get another Sonata or a BMW, Mercedes, or Audi to get the same quality that I've gotten from the 2002 Sonata. It has been nothing less than superior in all areas of performance and reliability. I Will have a very hard time replacing it.
Warranty not what they claim
I absolutely loved my car. A few minor flaws, such as the interior handles needing to be replaced several times, and the armrest wasn't the most comfortable. Other than that a fantastic car. However, I now have 30,550 miles on my car and the fuel door doesn't open. (Not covered under the extend warranty that I purchased for an additional $1265.)Now the car is also due for 30,000. mi maintenance - $400., and drive belt (required) $600. Yet the car is only worth $4500-$5000. You do the math. I won't buy another!!
Impressive
Just bought the LX with every option for $18700 at local dealer. Received it with 50 miles, about 25 I put on myself test driving. Had a Chevy Malibu and this car hands down is much better in terms of ride, features and warranty. Almost impossible to find in my area a black LX let alone a Sonata LX, dealer only had 3 in stock and Hyundai (or maybe dealer) said it would cost $500 to get another I wanted. Dealer delivery was satisfactory. Had a minor problem with the remote door openers, fixed in two seconds before I left the dealership. Overall, the car has smooth acceleration, a little bit of a hiccup at the lower end, very little road noise, stereo is adequate.
