2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Consumer Reviews

Great Value with one major annoyance
I bought the '24 Sante Fe SEL hybrid after testing almost all competitors. Nothing came close to this vehicle. Great ride. Tons of room. Lots of safety and convenience features at a great price. I've had it for 9 months and 8000 miles. Averaging 40-41 MPG. Very happy with this car with the exception of the AC/Heat Fan control touch screen. The icons are WAY too small and VERY poorly lit. Touch screen is always covered in fingerprints and completely invisible in certain sunlight conditions. Now that it's winter I cannot make any changes while wearing gloves - extremely annoying and super distracting/unsafe. I read that Europe has banned touch screens in new cars after 2026 due to the distractions they cause. Not sure if that's true or not. I really like this car and will be the first in line to trade it in when Hyundai replaces the touch screen with usable controls like the 2023 model had.

Wait for the 2025 Model Year
First let me say that I loved the vehicle for the first 1500 miles. Then things started going sideways. My car has been at the dealer for over 65 days with no timetable for a repair in sight. Transmission on the vehicle was damaged by a defective driveshaft, or an improperly installed one (dealership hasn’t been helpful). So I’ll review what I liked and didn’t prior to the car being out of service. PROS: Technology package: is comprehensive and easily more advanced than most other models. Space: A ton of space If you fold down the 3rd row. Ride Quality: I loved the ride on the 18” wheels and it took road imperfections with no problem. CONS: wireless phone charger: sits directly in the sun and will overheat your phone and/or blind you for a second if the sun catches your phone right. Digital Controls: A/C and heat controls are dim and very hard to see during the day. DCT Transmission: the SUV has serious problems backing up any incline, its weight makes trying to reverse up any incline a white knuckle experience as the car will attempt to roll back down the hill aggressively. 2024 seems like a test run for what will most likely be a great 2025 model year. I would suggest waiting for ‘25 when all the new features are refined.

Worst car I have ever owned
Purchased a '24 Santa FE Hybrid Calligraphy trim. Car broke down at 350 miles. Was at the dealership for 30 days. Determined that catalytic converter was faulty. Hyundai replaced and I proceeded to drive the car another 3k miles at which point it broke down yet again while I was 200 miles away from home. Engine check light came on, message to check charging system, and the car went into limp mode (i.e. will not go over 30mph). Had it towed to the nearest dealer in Wausau, WI (which was 50 miles from where I was staying). The dealer did a quick diagnostic and said no codes were appearing although I have a photo I took of the dash showing the engine and charging check lights on. The dealer could not provide a loaner or a rental, so I had to book a car with Avis out-of-pocket. I am now without a car YET AGAIN waiting for it to be transported to the Hyundai in Downers Grove, Illinois where I purchased this vehicle. I have purchased several new cars over my lifetime, and I have NEVER experienced anything quite like this. $52k for this?

Great mileage because it doesn’t work
Bought a Santa Fe hybrid calligraphy in June 12volt battery issues. The vehicle has been at the dealership for over 3 months. The 12 volt battery keeps being drained to the point of being ruined. Hyundai is aware of the issue and is working on it. The dealership has given me a courtesy car but I bought a Santa Fe and by now it should have been repaired. I filed a claim through Hyundai, my case worker was rude. Rick
Transmission issue in less than 200 miles
We purchased a 2024 Caligraphy and thought it was a great package for the price. Two days later the car started making noises and it was brought back to the dealer. I think it has somewhere around 200 miles on it. The dealer diagnosed the problem and ordered the part and was originally told would arrive 3 business days later. While not happy the car was decommissioned so quickly, 3 days seemed reasonable. When that day came the dealer called me to say they got an update from Hyundai that the part wont come for 3 weeks! I fail to see how a vehicle that is still in production doesn't have parts available. So it is clear they only care about new car sales and not existing customers. That day I put in a complaint on their website and got a case number. The next day I called in to see what the status was and was told she was going to escalate it and I would get a call in two days telling me what they could do. Two days later I get an email saying they received my concern and I would hear in two days. So I called back asking what happened and the people on the phone clearly have no ability to do anything. She said she would escalate but it would take two days. Completely pointless. It's a real shame since we really like the vehicle but this is leaving a really bad taste in our mouth, they clearly don't care about you once you buy. So good luck if you have problems.
