Used 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS AWD 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 4A) Consumer Reviews
road living
Love the long warranty! i am meticulous about maintanence because i must drive so much. with michelin and bridgestone tires excelent in bad driving conditions and roo for the long trips eaternoh to central missouri. little glitches is check engine lite for vacuum mostly and emission control stuff and small creatures like to chew wiring but service dept has been great.
NOT GOOD
I have had the vehicle for 1.5 years and had the transmission replaced once. Now I maybe looking at another new tranmission. Just got my oil changed and they informed me that I have metal scrapings in my transmission fluid. When I called the dealership, they said they are out of loaner cars and cannot get me in for 2 weeks. Very poor service! This thing has been in the shop for a good portion of my ownership. Maybe I got a lemon, but I would expect the dealership to go out of its way for me to rectify the situation. I am a young buyer and have many more vehicles to buy in the future. Sad to say but I will never buy another Hyundai!

New owner
HAve owned Hyundai's since 1990; the Santa FE is by far the best model. Hoping the Santa Fe out performs the other two we have owned (Gonna take some doing as we drove the Sontata all over Europe for three years with no problems). Milage is running in the 21/22 MPG range for city driving.
Best value for your money
We can only reiterate what others have said. This is an outstanding vehicle for the money, far better than even the Honda/Acura cars we have owned. Hyundai has come a long way in improving quality. We purchased the extended warranty which is not only a bargain, but cancellable (unlike most), refundable and transferable! Some wind noise (probably due to rack/crossbars) over 70mph, seats need more thought, car is about 200lb too heavy but overall an outstanding bargain. We purchased over the Net and saved sales commissions; for a GLS with ABS/TCS we paid under $20K. Nothing else can touch it and the buying experience was painless.
Hyundai Santa Fe--Great little SUV
Distinctive styling (you can actually pick it out from all the other look alike SUVs) and a great warranty are some of the things unique to this vehicle. The interior is roomy, ergonomic and controls are well placed. Seating is comfortable and even though I was used to a fancy power driver seat lumbar/sear adjustment, this vehicles manual controls (3)worked out fine. Many of the options we pay extra for on other vehicles are standard on the Santa Fe. Brakes are great, acceleration good (this is not a dragster)and road noise and ride are superior.
