Used 2004 Hyundai Elantra Consumer Reviews
Great City Car
This is by far the best city car- for the money - I have ever owned. I still get 28 MPG combined even with 69k on it. There is plenty of power to hold your own on the freeway, or get around that annoying person with his turn signal on for miles. Turn on the AC and it's a different story. The power flat lines, and the gas mileage heads to the basement. The interior is roomy - better than my wifes '08 Civic -but pretty plain (O CD player in GLS). And you cannot seem to ever find a balance between having the steering wheel at a comfortable hight, and still see all of the instrument cluster. The trunk is huge, and will hold several full sized suit cases. All in all it's a great car.
An Elantra to call my own
I am so excited about my Elantra that I thought I needed to let people know why. I looked at several cars in this "genre" before I made my final decision. I bought me a new Hyndai Elantra in 1993 so I was already familiar with the company and vehicle. I did look at the cars that everyone looks at ie Honda and Toyota. Price for price and pound for pound I will put my 2004 Elantra up against the Civic or Corolla anyday. The financial incentives were awesome, saving me $2500.00, which was what the 5 year extended bumber to bumper warranty cost so I went ahead and got it. Now I can rest easy knowing that for the next 10 years my Elantra is covered bumper to bumper no questions asked.

2004 Elantra GT Best Car Ever!!
5-Speed Manual, Bought this car new in 2004, my first NEW Car!, still driving it today, 2021!! Absolutely love this car, has never failed me through Canadian winters of -40C, and the paint hasn't faded after 17 yrs in full sun all day. One crack in dash leather, that's it. Also wore the leather off the shift knob - what can I say, I love to drive a Standard. Minor issue like headlights, major issues from wear and tear such as tie-rods, bearings, the usual suspects...nothing from poor quality, though. Mileage still low at 132,000KM ( about 88,000 Miles). I'm trying to price it, to sell, but there's not one for sale on the regular sites...don't know the value now but I do know a Manual Transmission if worth a penny or three...

A Car You Grow to Love
I was not all that excited to be trading in my two seater sports car for the Elantra. However, I was growing out of the racer boy image and I needed something practical and good on gas. Now, I can't figure out why I had been driving anything else. This car is great. It excels at the things a "daily driver" should excel at and it still surprises me with thoughtful features designed into the vehicle that I had not known about. Can you believe it can tow over 3000lbs! I just found that out today and my jaw dropped. Awesome car.
Happy
I am very happy with my car I has some small trouble and would buy another when I buy another car
MY GLS ELANTRA
Awesome care, only been to the shop once and that was to fix a scratch. i love driving it. i have the 5spd manual and it really puts the power to the ground. this car rivals other more expensive makes in its quality and tasteful design inside and out. heck, even my engine has a decorative cover. i love my elantra.
Great overall, lousy in snow
This is my 2nd Elantra, first being a 99 wagon; pleased with both, but one consistent problem: both are horrendous in snow. I think the tires are just too wide, and they float. I've driven in snow all my life - Italian sports cars to trucks; these are the first cars I've ever been seriously uncomfortable in. Snows all around help, but narrower rubber would be the best. Overall, great car, 5- spd gets 34 mpg consistently - on my 8 mile commute and highway (at 80 mph last time). Just replaced rotors all around - I don't normally go through brakes, but..??? Would recommend to anyone - great package for the price!!
Hot in Arizona
Brought it used in 2004. Former owner didn't take good care of it. Local Hyundai dealer fixed all problems with no hassles. Great car so far after putting on 11,000 miles. Love how it drives.
love it
This is the 2nd Elantra we have owned and it just gets better, I really like this car, between the value and the warranty, I couldnt ask for more.
Not what I expected!
I bought my Elantra as a commuter car. I have moved recently to the "ex-burbs" of Chicago from the city proper, and needed a fuel efficient vehicle with a low sticker price.I have owned Mercedes,Toyota, Mazda and top of the line U.S. built cars and I am extremly pleased with the Hyundai. It is the only vehicle I have owned that surpassed my expectations! I thought I would be sacrificing comfort, power and handling when I bought this car...WRONG!
