Used 2004 Hyundai Elantra Consumer Reviews
all the way with Hyundai
I had a Tiburon 97, a Sonata 2000, an Elantra GT 2002, and now, since two months, an Elantra GT automatic 2004, the best of all Hyundai car that I have driven Why a Hyundai product totay? When I bought the Tiburon, it was because I was struck by the beauty of the car. But now I bought an Elantra GT 2004 because it's again a very nice car, always a very reliable car, but mainly because it's a car so fun to drive, and very generous in space for a guy of more thant six feet tall. Really I'm proud of my Elantra GT 2004 red glaze. Finally, since more thant 8 years, I have always received a first class service from my Hyundai dealer
Don't get the 5 spd.
I've had a 2004 Elantra GT hatchback for two months. Great car - fast, safe, reliable, comfortable. However, the 5 spd. is extremely clunky; it feels more like a truck transmission than a car transmission. Moreover, the fog lights come on only when the headlights are on, which rather defeats the purpose of fog lights. Otherwise, terrific car.

Great for the money.
What has been done to this car that is not a wear item: 1) Clutch interlock switch (so it starts). 2) Clutch Slave Cylinder (recently) Maintenance Items: 1) Timing Belt. 2) Front Brake Pads. 3) Tires. 4) Oil changes. 5) Antifreeze change. Super reliable.... I am in the rust belt, so I expect an exhaust pipe in the future.
Great car
I have had my new Elantra for just a few weeks. I'm 6'3" and fit well in this car. The controls are easy to use and the drive of the car is firm and tight and peppy. In addition to feel of the car, it just plain looks great. The CD/MP3 player is a welcome addition to an already great interior. However, in another review, I read that the sound system looks too glitzy because of the way that it flashes different colors. After I bought the car and read the manual, I found that this color flashing option is a demo mode and can be turned off. For $14K(+) and with the standard set of options, you just can't do better.
Cheers for Elantra GT
I have had my GT for a year now and I couldn't be happier with it. I have returned to the dealership only once and that was for a recall notice. Even the usual "little things" that accompany a new vehicle have not appeared.
