Great little commuter / light traveler
I spent many hours researching cars and test driving them, found this little Accent to be the most roomy, efficient new car you can buy for the money. My criteria was it had to be able to carry 2 adults and two car seats (2 kids). Zippy enough to take over the pass loaded. The trunk is roomy enough for weekend trips. I was able to get mine for $13,600 + fees for a base model. The manual transmission is very slick and the clutch is very light. Low wind noise on the freeway. Handling feels tight, but still soft over bumps.
Great small car
This is a great small car that looks good and gets good gas mileage. Would highly recommends this for someone thats looking for nice power and mileage.
Blown engine @ 127,xxx
Car was good until the wngine blew at 127k. Loved it but expected a longer life... it was well serviced. Not sure what happened.

OK small car
I had this car for about 2 weeks. Only had 10k miles on the odometer. I put about 1000 miles on the car. At first this vehicle did not impress me. This is by far the smallest cheapest car I have ever driven. However the highlights are the seats, the stereo, and shiftronic automatic. This car turned out to be quite comfortable even for a 4 hr drive. However I had a problem with this car. One day the turnsignals quit working. Checked everything and everything else works fine. I believe there may be a problem with the modulation control for the turnsignals in this model I had. In all this car seems like it would be a solid buy other then the one issue.
Good basic transportation
Good quality, low maintenance, 32 mpg, comfortable front seats, small back seats, adequate acceleration, good sound system, large trunk. Great value for the money. Nothing wrong with the car, except that it's just not exciting or luxurious.

almost 100K miles in just over 3 years
First - I'm really big guy, 6'5" and 250 lbs so I get laughed at when I fold in half to get in/out of my accent. Second - I just passed 92K miles in 38 months (bought it new), and drive 325 miles straight about once a week. This is a good, very reliable, cheap to operate little car. No bueno when there is more than a few inchees of snow, but you can't expect much. I get about 36 MPH on the interstate doing 85-90 mph. I can get about 42 mph around town if I'm driving like a grandma (mine is a stick shift). Only problems we had was when my son hit a raccoon with it and just about totalled the car....took out the entire front end and did almost $6K in damage, for A RACCOON!!! Oh well, it got fixed and it's been great ever since. Worst issue I have had with the car is that it's RED, and wifey wanted BLUE. But the dealership, even after 3 months, couldn't find us a blue one. Hyundai needs to fix this; if I want to order a blue one, i should get a blue one. Anyway, great car.

Great on gas mileage
This is my around the town car. I fill up once a week. It’s tiny enough to fit into any parking space. I love the Bluetooth feature. I have the dealership service it, and it drives great. The one concern I have about the car is that the front end sits low to the ground. This means that if you park the car over a curb, when you pull out, the curb pulls out your front bumper. I have learned to park with my front end sitting way before a curb. This car is great on gas mileage. When I drove five states away, I only needed to fill up once.
JUNK!!!!!
I bought this car with 30,000 miles and I thought it was great. Then just after 100,000 I had to replace the engine and have the transmission rebuilt. Fast forward 50,000 miles and my mechanic tells me during a routine oil change that I now have metal in my oil. Fast forward a couple months and now my car needs a new engine yet again. Biggest piece of junk.

Very pleased
Several years ago I swore that I would never own a Hyundai. We are very pleased with our decision to purchase the accent. At 10,000 miles so far, we've seen a low of 34mpg and a high of 43mpg, with 38-40mpg for our typically city driving. It's not fast, but it's nearly hybrid like economy for tens of thousands less and much more fun to drive. I'd have given perfect marks if it came with better tires and cruise control.
Sporty Sipper
I work at home, so I'm not running up miles as a commuter. My car has a very small wheelbase, a great turning radius that lets me get in and out of tight parking spaces, and it has a lot of zip, too--acceleration when needed, and power to spare. I recently drove it 2400 miles from Los Angeles to Asheville NC in seven days, moving with traffic or at the speed limit. We stopped four or five times a day for food, fuel, bathroom breaks and overnight lodging. My average fuel mileage for that trip was a little over 41 miles per gallon. We encountered hail and chain lightning in New Mexico, electrical storms in Texas, and a cloud burst of near-Biblical proportions on the mountain road between Knoxville, TN and Asheville, NC. Nothing fazed this car. But living in a mountainous community with four seasons is very different than the mostly flat Los Angeles basin. I traded this car in on a somewhat larger, all wheel drive Subaru, and got exactly what it was worth, according to three Internet pricing services. Bye bye Hyundai. I don't miss it. I would have replaced it with a larger, AWD model, but the sales staff at the local Hyundai dealership were such jerks that I couldn't stand to be around them. So I bought a Subaru Forester and lived happily ever after. I NO LONGER OWN THIS CAR.

Horrible drivers seat!
My 2013 Accent has the most uncomfortable drivers seat I have had in 45 years. My husband has the 2008 Accent with lumbar support and I have no problem driving his. After only 30 minutes of driving mine I have a backache and headache. I have tried numerous fixes (pillows, lumbar screens, towels) and nothing has helped. I contacted Hyundai and I got a case number and was told to call my dealer. His recomendation was to but a new $1000 seat or trade up to an Elantra. (is he crazy?). This is our 7th Hyundai and we loved them. Why were the seats redesigned without the lumbar support? And why doesn't Hyundai offer me any suggestions?
Good Basic Transportation
The only problem I've had is with engine oil. It started out with regular oil, then around 50,000 miles I switched to synthetic. It started using more than it should. When I went back to natural oil, consumption returned to normal. No one has been able to explain why. Other than that, no surprises. At 88,000 miles, my biggest complaint is cosmetic: The trim around the windows, the paint on the door handles, and the pinstriping is peeling off and looks shoddy.

thumbs up!
love this little car, almost as much as my old 1981chevette ! I frequently drive 300 miles at a time with one tank of gas, and no backache! Handles very well, although it bounces around at times; still the traction has been there when I needed it. Fantastic mileage!

Stay Alive- Avoid the 2103 Hyundai Accent
I had the 2013 Accent for 7 years. Got 120k miles out of it. I serviced it as recommended and took great care of it. The engine blew out on a busy highway without any warning!! I made it the breakdown lane with about 2 seconds to spare before it died. Not only can you lose your life and endanger others but you will lose your money! DO NOT BUY A 2013 HYUNDAI ACCENT!!
Get rid of it before the warranty runs!!!!!
The car was decent to drive when it worked and then it turned out to be the worst car I have ever owned. I thought I was getting a reliable vehicle and ended up getting a vehicle that lasted just past 101K. I have owned at least four other vehicles and all of them have lasted for years and made it to at least 200,000. In fact I have never had a motor go out on a single one of them except my crappy Hyundai. I well never buy another Hyundai.

Reliable but MPG not so great
I bought my accent in 2017 with 50,000 miles, put 2 sets of tires on it, 2 batteries and regular oil changes. However, the electric windows are sketchy, the plastic part on the hood latch broke, and the audio system is awful. Other than it being hard to park and having tiny tires, its been an amazing little car, unfortunately I clipped a car making a left turn and my poor little what was perfect condition little car is missing a headlight and front bumper. Dammit! I couldve put 200,000 miles on it, instead its parked with only 80,000 miles. sucks :(
