It's all about having fun
I've owned some pretty hot sports cars, all were more expensive and more powerful that the S2000, but none were more fun. This car is simply the most fufilling driving experience most of us are likely to have. You can spend more, but you're not likely to get more.
An honest, objective view
I have been happy w/this car from the day I bought it. The performance and economy it delivers for the price I paid are outstanding. I love the elemental feel of the car, the absence of a bunch of bells and whistles and especially the way the car looks, handles, and accelerates. I would recommend this roadster for any enthusiast that doesn't want to pay an inflated price for an outstanding sports car.

fun car to drive. it's hard to believe the power that little engine puts out great handling
End All, Be All!
Having owned 7 cars in the past 10 years, including a Lexus, a BMW, an Infinity, and an assortment of others, THIS is the car I've been looking for! I thought I was looking for luxury, but what I REALLY was looking for was the purity of performance in a great looking convertible! I tested the BMW Z4 and the Nissan 350z, but they paled in comparision, especially if you consider price in the equation. I've never felt this "connected" to a car. As you slide into the cockpit, you become one. Every aspect involves you. I don't miss the bells and whistles. In fact, their absence makes me enjoy this car even more! My advice? Take one for a test drive before you buy ANY other sports car!
06 S2K
This car is a work of art. Performance and handling is at its best, gear box is superb, and the gas mileage is much better than expected (averages around 27 mpg). Best bang for the buck. Car is noisy but no more than any of the other roadsters I've driven. Every day street driving is fine but will show plenty of muscle. No problems to date and with Honda's quality reputation, I don't expect any issues. Interior layout is not fancy but very simple yet more than adequate...it is perfect for a roadster. Although small, trunk space is much more functional than other competitors. Fits two sets of golf clubs. Anyone considering a Roadster around $30K or less should take a hard look at the S2K.
The Honda with Two Personalities
The Honda S2000 has been my favorite car that I have owned. I have had sports cars in the past, but none have been so rewarding as the S2000. Around town it does great on fuel economy with a combined 24 mpg! The engine is nice below 6000 rpms, but above that it is mean and it comes to life! An animal if you will. It has the best gearbox in the world, flick the shifter with your finger. Its like cutting warm butter with a knife, it is so precise! Handles the hell of the road! My Corvette felt so bulky and the shifter heavy. It was an okay car, but I heard about the S2000 from a friend and Im so glad I purchased it! Very rewarding car that wants you to revv the heck outta it! BUY IT!
2006 Honda S2000
About the only thing on the car that anyone can complain about is storage space. When moving from another vehicle to this one, the trunk space and interior cabin storage space seems minuscule, but after owning it for a while, you get used to it and it doesn't seem nearly as small. You won't be moving any large boxes, but it'll do for most road trips
'06 S2000, RED
I am loving this car! I only wish it had a better place to put my coffee. A real attention getter, and performance is outstanding!
s2000 206
The car is very fun to drive. The performance is second to none for a 4 cylinder car. It is very nicely built and very to maintain.
Best Sports Car in the Price Range
My S2K is a daily driver, and I find it to be the perfect combination of exceptional acceleration/handling, while still returning good fuel mileage. And unlike so many sports cars that have come and gone, it is reliable as a hammer. You will not find another manual shift up to this quality, steering is quick and perfectly weighted, the brakes are faultless, the body structure very rigid. Cautions: if you drive very aggressively, be careful of snap- oversteer. This series is better than the original, but it can still punish the ham-handed. Ride is firm. While having more driveable power/torque band than 1st S2K's, best performance still requires keeping the engine in the correct rev range.
adrenalin infuser
After driving this car almost one year I still find that there are no walls ceilings or "flaws". Glycerinized clutch, brakes, shifting and booster rocket sensation.
S2000 - Wonderfully Engineered Vehicle!
Vehicle handling is superb. It's engine hums so effortlessly and is ready to pounce immediately when thrown in the right gear. The shifting is very precise and the pedals are placed in the right positions for heel-toe action. The pedals aren't heavy and cumbersome, but light enough for my wife to use. The guages are large and easy to read with all pertinent info available. When driven lightly, its a fuel miser. Maintenance is 'Honda- esque'. Its trunk is large enough for a weekend out with my wife. The VSD saved me from curb rashes on several occassions when carelessly turning on web pavement!
Great little car
It is the most fun car we have ever owned. It seems that the suggested corner speeds in the twisty curves are underated by a factor of 3. Restaint must be used with the S2000 or you will be arrested! I keep reminding myself this is only a 4 banger with no turbo.
Amazing
I love my Honda S2000, it has a well designed engine with plenty of power to move. Its nimble cornering puts it at the very top of its class. No other car to me can really out perform the Honda S2000. As my first and last car I love my S2000.
The best car ever
The S2000 is the most fun, most amazing car I've ever driven. This car handles like no other and the way every owner feels about it can tell you that Honda has done an excellent job. I dream about my S2000, during the day and at night. I am always stopped on the street by people who ask me what kind of car it is and when I tell them it's a Honda they don't believe me. It really is all that and then some!
Screamer with Honda reliability
This is my second Honda S2000, I owned a 2003 and sold the car for a BMW M3 and I missed owning my S2000 so much that I purchased a 2006. I do wish the redline was 9000 rpm, but that is my only complaint about this amazing car. The car still will get a second look from people, wondering if it is an expensive German or Italian car. Thank you Honda for making a FANTASTIC car :)
Makes commuting almost fun
My commute in the D.C. area would be depressing if it wasn't for this car. Instead, I smile and look forward to driving every morning and evening. Bought an expensive snow tire/wheel set to commute and drove through light snow with no problems. The hardtop is great in the winter and enhances the rear view. There is much written about not taking this car on long trips, but we much prefer this car over our other more comfortable cars because it is so much more fun! We took long trips to Canada, Connecticut, and Georgia. We are in our late 50s but may not be entirely average as we are used to touring on motorcycles. As my wife said, this is so much more comfortable.
Best car ever, period!
This is simply the best car ever, period! If we must drive cars then why not not something that's super reliable, likely to never have a problem. A car with great gas mileage, today that is probably the most important thing with gas near and over $3 a gallon. Style, everyone wants a stylish car. This one is not only stylish but stunningly beautiful, a designers dream. People literally fall over themselves ogling this car, people love this car. Handling and safety. This car could be the definition for handling which promotes safety even at high rates of speed which brings me to performance! Now everyone just admit it, we all want to drive race cars. This car is a blend of all that!
4-wheel motorcycle
My everyday driver is a Subaru Forester XT with stick shift, and would be hard to beat. Wanted a hi-revving, quick-handling Japanese bike for casual fun, but a bum knee precluded that. Figured adding 4 wheels and weather protection for rainy Portland couldn't hurt. Shopped Boxters, Z4s, TTs & Miatas, but they're all too effete. S2000 is the real deal... simply beautiful, with clean, taut lines; thrilling power when you turn up the revs, with matching sound track; impeccable handling; modest weight; smooth, powerful brakes; great perforated-leather seats; driver-centric instrumentation, Honda's famous quality and reliability. Track-ready. No options to buy... it's all standard equipment.
Second Time Around
I had an '05 S2000 and loved it. Had to sell it when we dropped down to a 2- vehicle household and vowed that it would be replaced by another ASAP. I picked up a 2006 with 3800 miles on it and life is good (again). I looked at Boxsters, Z-4's, SLK's (I do not consider the MX-5 to be in the same class) and still could not come up with a valid, logical reason to buy any of them. For the money, this is simply the BEST roadster out there. The drivetrain is as close to perfection as one can get. It handles great and is as solid as if it were milled from a piece of billet. If you are of average stature this car is very livable as a daily driver and is quite comfortable on extended road trips.
One of the best
The S2k is one of the most cars for your money available today. The 4 cylinders punch out only a few horses less the the Porsche boxter. Those idiots who say "it needs a v6 or a v8" are not true car enthusiasts or knowledgeable in the field of roadsters. The 4 cylinders in the S2k outperform the Maybach V6 in the Eclipse and the same for the RX-8. This is a great car!
Endless Fun
I have owned this vehicle for 2 years and there has not been a day when my daily driver hasn't caused a broad smile on my face. And then there is the grin caused by a winding mountain road. Priceless. The engine is a little miracle: sedate if you like, or an angry little monster if you punch it. Undoubtedly the best manual transmission around. The handling is fantastic. The pedals are perfectly placed (heel-toes all day long). The soft top is the fastest and simplest around. Totally reliable. Totally Honda. A perfect auto enthusiast's car. No good if you are looking for creature comforts.
Perfect Roadster
If you are after a true roadster, then this "is" the car. I have owned it now for two years, and each time I get in it, it's as if it was the very first test drive of the car, never loses the excitement. For a roadster, this car is very comfortable, tightly put together, and perfect handling and response. I really get on it on the curves, and have still yet to find it's limit, thank God. The rigidity for a convertible is amazing. You want Fun, drop the top and find some curves.
My favorite toy in the box
I have never had more "fun" in any car I have ever driven. I had a MG-B in my late teens, and I loved the car but hated all the issues. This is my MG that runs. Have a rough day at work? Just go out, hop in and drop the top. Even if it is to only go to Starbucks for a brief break, it will put a smile on your face. When I do get out of town, get a little back road thing happening, it's a go-cart on steroids. It handles like my Ducati motorcycle, just with 4 wheels. I can honestly say, when it comes to the bang-for-bucks ratio, I have never been more pleased with a car purchase.
Awesome sauce!
I was lucky. I found one in pristine condition with low mileage. Other friends who own or have owned them live them, too. Not for the timid in shifting. Low slung means you need to be vigilant for those in larger vehicles! Great engine. Great power. If you’re taller than 6’1” not the roadster for you. If you live to drive, though, it is!

Fun, Fun, Fun
I just purchased my S2k a couple of days ago. It is such a joy to drive and should put a smile on anyone’s face. My previous sports car was a Porsche 997.1 which I sold when I launched my business full time; the visceral goodness of the Porsche burble and steering precision had the same feel; however, I might be having more fun driving the S2K. The shifter is a delight, steering quick and tight, and the car feels plenty fast. It really is like driving a go cart - fun! My Porsche was a thing of beauty but so The S2k. I was never a convertible guy and thought I’d never enjoy anything but a 911; I was wrong. UPDATE: The S2000 is a special vehicle and the absolute joy it brings to the driving experience is phenomenal. The folks who have sold theirs regret it and want another one. I will never sell mine.

She’s a stunner!
It was a serendipitous day when I found this little red roadster in Tucson at the BMW dealership. It had been traded in just a few days before and I was in the right place at the right time to find her. I fell in love immediately and it wasn’t until later that I was told the car is destined to be a collectible. A 15 year old car with only 40,000 miles on it and it had been garaged all of its life and kept beautifully detailed and all of the maintenance upkeep records on hand.
Honda S2K owner of 10 years.
I have 258,987 miles on my 2002 S2000 and all I ever done was changed the oil every 5k miles. Still drives like when I first bought it at 133k miles. The most reliable Honda I've ever owned.
