Not all hype!
Nice vehicle that is built on a Civic chassis. Yet, it lacks the power and guts that the dealer states it has...which is a total letdown. The back seats are very poor..it is almost more comfortable sitting plastic seats in the bleachers! The back seating is not made for long distance trips, just trips that are less than a mile long to the local store...think twice about these seats if you care about your guests! Where is the power in this vehicle...it struggles to pull what it is designed to pull. The gas mileage is not was it is stated on this site...it is less more like 13 and 17. Be advised twice before you purchase! BTW, there is no AWD in this vehicle..just a myth!
Will be selling soon
I have owned this car for 3 months. I am disappointed in the gas mileage. The car has rattles all over the place that we can't pinpoint. Seats are not very comfortable for long trips. I noticed yesterday how many chips are showing up in the paint--just from normal driving conditions. I sold a Buick Rendezvous for this vehicle and I wish I had kept my Buick.

All window motors were changed
Window won't be raised up, one at a time, I have changed all four window motors, I have to pay $300 each time. I am not going to buy Honda any more. I have several Toyota which I never have any problems until they are too old and I sold them. No more Honda. Good luck with your Honda.

First Honda
So far so good. This rig is fun to drive. It handles great in monsoon type conditions. I am overall quite happy with this 8 passenger people mover. The real test will come when we finally get some snow.
2006 Pilot
My 1st SUV and probably last since I am a "car-guy", but needed this for family reasons for a few years. The airflow over the front fascia is such that every insect within 5 miles will splatter on your windshield. I've had more splats on my windshield in the past 10 months than I've had in 30+ years of driving. Windex, scouring pads and I have become very close!
02 Odyssey vs 07 Pilot
I own a 02 Odyssey EXL and a 07 Pilot EXL. The family prefers the Odyssey overwhelmingly than the Pilot. The Pilot is nice when travelling alone or with the missus. The kids (I have two) constantly complains that it is too cramped and they're only three and five. The Odyssey just provides better value in terms of comfort, cargo room, and gas mileage. The Pilot is the vehicle I use to travel to work. On the weekends, it is strictly the Odyssey with the family.
Great car
What is not to like about this vehichle. We have had it for 4 months and love the room, the features and the quality of this vehicle. If I was going to complain it would be regarding gas mileage but that was known at the time of the purchase. I would strongly recommend this vehichle. I just wish I would have purchased several years ago instead of buying a Mercury.
I love my PILOT!
This car is the best ever! I have no leather seats but I will be getting them soon. I recommend this car to everybody it has no flaws. It handles like a small car and will continue to be my car of choice.
pilot exl no nav.no dvd
I picked up my pilot a week ago, love driving it. It drives like a car, not a truck.
Enjoyable!
I picked up my 07 Pilot today. This is my second Pilot. It is comfortable, stylish and responsive. I wish the mpg were better, but it's a vast improvement over my old SUV, a 98 Range Rover!
Texas Pilot
Good so far, gas mileage is a little better than expected. Even in city driving. Maybe the cylinder management helps?
Excellent Vehicle
I have owned many fine cars including Infiniti, Toyota, and Mazda. This vehicle tops them all. Very comfortable in long drives, great cargo room, and room for 7 easily. Great economy for size and easy to maintain. Great power when needed and great visibility. The only negative, and it's minor, a slight blind spot when checking traffic from the right due to post angle. Other than that, I rank this SUV as best in class.
Amazing value for $28K
After much research and comparison shopping, we decided on the EX-L w/AWD, and feel like we hit the jackpot-especially in the value category. I am more fond of this vehicle each week. It now has 5K miles, and has really proven itself to be the ultimate in practical suburban family vehicle. We also looked at the 07 Highlander, and nearly fell asleep at the wheel in the showroom. Also considered a certified X3, but cargo area way too small. The Pilot is no Ferrari, but it is predictable, comfortable and sure footed. We have taken it on several comfortable weekend road trips. When my died-in-the-wool car snob father drove it (drives a Lexus GX & BMW Z3) said "wow, this is impressive!
Great SUV
This is our second Pilot. We love this vehicle model. If you are shopping for a SUV, considering this vehicle is a must. Very roomy and easy to drive. Has great versatility, be it handling a cross country family vacation to hauling stuff from the local home improvement store.
Great vehicle!
16-17 mpg city driving with AC. 20-23 mpg hwy up/down I-95 with AC. Very smooth ride; great acceleration merging into traffic; accommodates our family of 5 around town; easy to park; fun to drive. I purchased this SUV in Feb '08, and I would but another one tomorrow if I could.
Still a very good ride
The Honda pilot may have been around for a while but still is very reliable and offers plenty of space and safety comparable to the new CUV .and it is the only CUV that has a true 4x4 ability . It also has great resale value and the look is still appealing like a 4x4 should look not curvy, intruding on the interior headroom . I can fit 8 people in a pinch. Gas mileage isn't bad compared to other CUVs.
Traded my Hybrid Civic
I loved the mileage on my hybrid but I was having a hard time getting in and out and we travel alot now and needed more room. Only 2 tanks of gas through it so far, first tank combined was 20 mpg. The 2nd tank was all city and was a little over 15 mpg. I averaged over 40 with my hybrid. I love the room and the ride. Mileage is much better then the 2002 Dodge Ram 4 door pickup (6/14) I traded for the hybrid. It is quiter than the Civic and much easier to get in and out of. I feel safer driving it. I did not want 4 WD and the VCM helps with the milage. I have owned a lot of vehicals in my 60 plus years and this one is right up there with the best I have owned. Thank you Honda.
Fog Lights anyone?
This has been a great vehicle for us. Enough room for our stuff and our dog and still room for the additional family member coming in about 7 months. But look out if you have to replace certain parts. $275 fog light assembly plus 1 hour labor to remove the entire bumper cover because the fog light was hit with a rock. Hopefully insurance will cover, but what if it had just burned out? $400 for a lightbulb? Sad that such a great car has such poor design qualities.
A great ride!
First off, for all of you complaining about the gas mileage, you're nuts. I have a Dodge Durango and the Pilot. There is no comparison whatsoever. For the 3k miles we have put on it, we are averaging about 21 mpg. Now if you have the 4x4 version, I can see a decrease. But all you others probably just have a lead foot! There are only two negatives that I have with the Pilot. First, the front driver side leg room is not what I would like it to be. Second, the back door is a pain in the rear to close sometimes. I wish they would have made it about 1/2 a foot longer, then a tall guy like me would not have any issues up front! If you buy one, you will fall in love with it!
Great SUV with Bad MPG
This truck was a great value. There was a $2000 rebate when I bought and no other truck could compete with for features at the price. I've had the truck for a few months (2200 miles). The truck drives great and the interior is beautiful (big and comfortable). The exterior is boxy, but not bad. The only negative is the MPG. I read the reviews and knew it wasn't going to be great (I was expecting 15-17 mpg). I don't drive in the city and I only get 14 MPG.
So Glad I bought a Pilot
I'll admit, I haven't had this vehicle very long, but have driven Hondas for quite some time. The 4WD EX-L is very quiet, smooth riding, and simply a pleasure to drive. Get ready for the shock if you've been in a Civic and getting 35 mpg. Although I do get 21 mpg on the average. This ain't bad! Extemely comfortable ride.
Fantastic Car
This is my best car I have bought. I have had many cars and this is by far the most comfortable and quality SUV I have had. I also own the Odyssey and it is fantastic too. I love Honda. This is a car is extremely fun and reliable to drive. The gas mileage isn't that bad. Anyway if you are looking to buy a SUV the Pilot is the way to go!
Wife Loves her Pilot
Admittedly I don't drive this vehicle much, but often enough. My wife uses this car as her everyday car and she loves it! We are expecting a baby in early 2008 and are looking forward to having a safe and reliable car to transport our new one around in.
It's a Honda
I love the pilot for the roomy cabin, great ride, driving position and handling. I have owned 10 Honda's and this one has not disappointed.
Almost there
My 2007 Honda Pilot is almost perfect. All it needs is a split window in the back and ideally a power lift gate. Of course gas mileage could be better. Other than those three things I find it PERFECT. I went from a Tahoe to a Lexus to a Honda. I don't know what took me so long.
Solid performer
I've had my Pilot for 4 months and drive it mostly in town but took one extended 2,400 trip. We're very pleased so far. We've found excellent build quality and reliability. Mileage has been good; 18.7 in city and 24.8 on the highway (65+/-). I'm 6-1 and drove 14 hours one day and rode in the backback seat for 10 hours another day. The front seats are very comfortable for extended periods and the backback seat was better than I thought it would be. My wife loves the shifter because it frees up the console area. Steering and engine are great, ride is good, and after getting a good EOY deal, it was $8k less than the Acadia/Enclave I shopped. My insurance premiums are less than my old Passport.
Great SUV all around
I bought the 07 Pilot EX-L RES in May 07. I have put about 12k miles so far and have been very please with the vehicle. Its comfortable, very agile (for an SUV)very surprised with the handling, not that scary feeling on the curves, very roomy. Not as good on gas as I tought but hey its an SUV. The only thing I would have liked is the ability to have both RES and Navi, power front pax seat and memory since both me and my wife drive the vehicle and its kind of anoying having to re- adjust everything, other than that I'll give it a 10 !!
Steady On
Zero problems after 4.5 months. Very useful storage space. Acceptable boat towing capability except for frequent shifts at highway speeds. Transmission is very smooth, and acceleration is quite good considering the tiny engine. Disappointing highway gas mileage to date has only been approximately 20 mpg. Climate control and audio systems are excellent. People comfort in the first two rows is very good. Third row is folded down for additional storage, and will never be used. Handling is okay. Brakes are easy to modulate, but panic stops require more pressure than any of my other recent vehicles. A very satisfactory but not a spectacular vehicle.
Best family vehicle we have ever owned
I cannot say enough positive about the Honda Pilot. We are a family of four, with two dogs and have never felt more safe in a vehicle. The ride is fabulous and sure. Lots of room. Seats 8 if needed, otherwise lots of storage room in the back. The best of all in its class.
My family luv this pilot
We leased this 2007 pilot 4wd LX. I break-in this SUV very well so now I can get 0-60 mph w/in 6 seconds. MPG is average for an SUV. Driving is great, especially in the snow, but not in dynamic actions. A lot of noise in rough roads, but like riding on a boat while in highways.Engine and transmission are great!
Happy
I owned a jeep, and the Honda is much more reliable. I only go the the dealership for scheduled maintenance, and minor problems. I would recommend this vehicle to the person who is very busy in their life, and does not want to go to the dealership every week for problems. When you don't drive aggressive, the mileage is acceptable for the size. If you drive hard, the mileage will decrease. I would purchase another one. This is my first Honda. You really do not have to purchase any other brand!
Getting Better
This is my second PILOT. The first was a new 2004 LX (great vehicle). The 2007 EX-L however is an outstanding vehicle. Honda has refined the design. Listened to the customer and made small changes that make a big difference in the PILOT driving experience.
So far so good
I've had my new Pilot for a month now. Smooth ride, comfortable seating, large cargo area with third row folded flat. Gas mileage has been as advertised (18+ city), just don't gun it off the line and you'll be fine. Crossbars on roof rack should be standard. Don't notice the front-end wobbling at high speeds, others have complained about.
Great Honda!
I bought this vehicle because my family and I did not want a mini van. The Pilot is excellent in all ways because of not only safety but comfort, and reliability. The Navi is great and we got the pilot for $5000 off msrp! The only quirk with the pilot is it seems to hesitate during acceleration and the dealer couldn't duplicate it. But other than that this car just ROCKS in almost every way!
Great Overall Value
This is a great SUV. Roomier and better build quality than any other I test drove. Very smooth shifting and good acceleration. Quiet ride and responsive handling (considering its size). I have the 2WD version with the "ECO" feature. Seems to work as advertised (getting about 18-20 city/22-24 highway).
disappointed
have had this for only two months and the gas mileage has been no better than 15 mpg. we lease and i called to see if we bought another honda vehicle would they consider to get us out of lease. response was it would cost us at least 3000 dollars to get out of lease. very disappointed with all parties concerned.we had a buick rendezvous and were much happier. should have stayed with buick.
I love to drive this car!
I enjoy the looks of this car and the beauty of the ride. Mileage isn't that great but this is an SUV and the engine has some spunk. The only big complaint is the size of the key. It's BIG. Couldn't they have built it to fold in a case.
1st Timer
This vehicle is just what the reviews say it is. Safe, great handling in the snow, quiet and well designed. I am disappointed with the mpg's but the overall quality of the Pilot makes up for it. Having moved from a van, I was hoping for a few more crossover options, auto-close rear, rear windows that open, dusk-on lights and mid-row seats that recline a bit more especially with the DVD system for the kids. The layout is well thought out with all the needed instruments at your fingertips. The ride is so much more smooth than most SUVs the purchase was a cinch.
Very Critical
I have had my Pilot for just over a year and have enjoyed it minus a few exceptions. A clip of some type either came off or was not put on (somewhere connected to the transmission) in the first place leaving me unable to move in the middle of traffic. NOT GOOD. I called the dealer from the road and they towed me in, fixed the the ride in about 3 or 4 days. This left me with one vehicle. I wasn't given a good enough explanation of what happened but no problem with that to date. The subwoofer is either popping or rattling the areas next to it. My dealer so far has not been able to fix the problem to my satisfaction. Finally there is a slight pull to the left I will see if the dealer can adjust.
Honda Pilot EXL 2007 Model
Previously owned a 2003 Pilot. We now have the 2007 EXL 2 wheel drive. Excellent vehicle all the way around. Great acceleration, comfort, space and looks. Compared to our previous SUV which was a 4 Runner from Toyota, the Honda Pilot appears to be a more solid vehicle. It gives you a great sense of security.
Let it snow!
I got this because me and the wife needed not only the extra space, but also something that would not strand us when it snows. It has all the safety features we need for our two boys (2 yrs and one on the way). It yelled at my wife for not buckling up! That was awesome. The Pilot handles like a dream. Whenever I need that extra kick, it gives it to me. On the snow, it responds smoothly with no shakiness. I don't know what others had, but my wheels have not shaking going past 65. I have gone as fast as 85 with no waggle. But the road noise was something else.
Glad I leased it
All in all this isn't a bad vehicle, just doesn't have a few of the things vehicles in this price range should have. Solid and great visibility but the kids much prefer the new Odyssey. We have given up on any American designed vehicle and the Big Three and are definately on our Never Buy list but Honda needs to step it up a bit for this vehicle. Basic items like auto door locks, auto headlights...and hey, where is the ipod jack? I leased this vehicle and will be glad to look at the redesigned in 2010.
bought '07 ahead of new body style
I got 2k off of invoice to buy the Pilot in January. The EX-L MSRP is $33,840, the invoice was $30,530 and I paid $28,530. How can you go wrong? Great truck! The new Acura (visions of the new Pilot) doesn't really make me want to wait and buy at or near sticker. I think it is well equipped, very comfortable and as safe as any vehicle on the road. I was considering a Benz or BMW but everyone I talk to that has one says you have to sell before the warranty is up. As good as any vehicle for the money- it is a depreciating asset. I wish there were better colors. I have no idea what some others have said about a vibration at 55mph. They must need a tire balance. GREAT TRUCK BUY IT!
Pilot after couple of months of driving
I tested in snow by taking it for a spin, and it maintained its grip on the pavement. Engine sounds powerful and responsive. My biggest issue is with the mileage claim. Honda say 17/22, and I have consistently getting no more than 18 miles on mostly highway drive.
Looked at every vehicle before this one!
I looked at almost every vehicle out there before deciding on the Honda Pilot. I couldn't be happier. The suv/car does everything right. It's a major improvement over my 2004 Dodge Durango (lease ended)- it's quieter, quicker throttle response, more comfortable, and mostly more fun than most of the vehicles that I looked at, including Nissan Murano, Dodge Magnum, Chrysler Pacifica and especially my Dodge Durango. I love it! and I have already suggested that my friends test drive it to see for themselves. I got a really nice lease deal on the car which helps me say a lot of nice things about it.
Excellent SUV
The 2007 Pilot is very comfortable, has excellent performance and handling. It could use a little better heating and cooling controls for use between the front and rear areas. Also when the windows are all down the reverberation is so bad it just about takes your ears out. These two problems are minor and overall I would definitely buy another and would recommend it to anyone who wants a comfortable SUV with room for 8 and a good compromise between size and economy. I get about 18.5 to 19 back and forth to work and about 22mpg on the freeway with the cruise on 80mph. No larger than it is I would think that Honda could make the vehicle get 22 around town and about 25-26 on the highway.
New EX-L Owner
Just got my new EX-L on 3/15. I love it. I had some accessories added, like wood trim, towing package etc. It looks and feels like an Acura, for a lot less. I like it better than our Highlander. It could be quieter inside, but all in all a very good buy.
gas guzzler
I love this car. It is comfortable and has many nice luxury features. One can't go wrong with a Honda. More expensive than other suvs and the inside features are worth it. Gas mileage is very poor. Had I know this, I might had purchased the Toyota 4 Runner. If you want luxury, this is the car for you. If you want to tow or help the environment, steer clear.
Best Vehicle I Ever Owned.
Just got an 07 Pilot EX-L RES. It feels very safe, the handling is very impressive. Having owned a couple of big and small SUVs, I was amazed by the fact this car does not feel like a "flipper", with the pilot I don't get those butterflies in your stomach when you take a turn or going over the bridge and it's windy. The interior is very stylish, the XM rocks (one of the things I thought I didn't need untill I had it). Already got a chance to drive it on the snow handled very well. Lots of space, easy to fold third row seat. Lots of cup holders, cargo space, and lots of space in the front to put those items you always seem to have lying around in the car, sunglasses, tissues, maps, etc.
Just love it!
I've been driving my new 2007 EX Pilot for 3 months now. It has good power and acceleration. Very smooth and comfortable ride. Very good stopping power. A bit of body roll but it's fun to drive. Solidly built, roomy, very good interior.
