OK my 2005 Sienna XLE needed new --loved it. First thing, I can't believe how the interiors of these vans have CHEAPENED over the years. So much so I couldn't stomach the new Sienna. The Ody was just passable. Already the door switches are scratched because of the cheap plastic. I almost pulled the trigger on the Quest but couldn't get over the ugly stick and the suboptimal tranny (CVT). I have a Maxi CVT, it's just the load killed it. In any case driver console is just cheap. All the rest of the car is great. What were they thinking? Also should have 110 in 2nd row, not 3rd. Lots of finishing not good. Had to slap a few panels in, pull some plastic and carpet fibers. Hmm...

We replaced my wife's Porsche Cayenne S Titanium Edition with two VW Touaregs. Although the Touaregs are built on the same chassis they are worlds apart and we were very disappointed by the Touaregs and specifically the support or lack there of from the manufactures and dealers. With two children under the age of two we decided to look at minivans. Having owned and raced a number of Hondas over the years I didn't have to look much further then the Odyssey. We ended up leasing a new 2012 Odyssey (at a great rate thanks to Honda's great residual value). The Odyssey is a brilliant choice for anyone with children. Maybe it's not as "cool" as a luxury SUV but it is way more practical.

Happy Wife... Happy Guy Driving Long Trips

This is our second Honda Minivan and will trade up for a new one. My wife loves that she can see everything due to the height of the van as compared to my sedan .... That she hates to drive. I love to drive it on long trips..... Just set cruise control, let navi tell me how to get there. Only thing I do not like about the navigation software is that various state rest stops are not indicated. We put 100,000 on our 2005 and have 99,000 on the 2012 van with no major mechanical problems.

After a dismal experience with a 2011 Toyota Sienna, which we purchased new, we bought the Odyssey in large part based on the 140,000 trouble-free miles put on our 2003 Odyssey. Initially, all was well. But, in two years and a tad under 50,000 miles, we had to replace the power steering pump and transmission (though that took four trips to the dealer before Honda relented). There was also a chronic grinding/whining noise that intermittently came from the a/c compressor and was never fixed. Not wanting to risk more failures, we traded it in for a 2014 Odyssey before the warranty ran out. Eighteen months and 31,000 miles into the 2014 model, it has been trouble-free, just like the 2003 model.

My 2012 Odyssey is only 6 months old. A month ago I noticed water (puddle) in the rear cargo floor well.I was told this doesn't happen to the Odyssey only in the Honda civic. So after a week without my van I was told it was the rear seam sealer was missing and this is how the water was getting in. Well now I'm just waiting for the next rain storm. If I wanted a van with a pool I would have ordered one. Also there have been 2 recalls. Is this Van going to last at lest 10 years? I always had a Ford and my Ford Van lasted 10 years. I'm not saying don't buy the Odyssey because it is a good ,comfortable van, just buyer be aware.

This van looks very sleek, inside and out. Interior is very quiet and spacious. If you have kids, you can separate them because there is 3 rows. Hondas are very reliable. I had I a choice between a town and country and an odyssey. I went with the odyssey. Better quality and better resale value. All used town and countries I found were rental company trade ins. This honda was certified and I bought the extended warranty. Very happy with my purchase.

Disappointed with this Honda

I've had three Honda's now. A 2004 Civic that I still own and is running strong, a 2005 CR-V that ran great, and now this POS 2013 Honda Odyssey. Talk about a turn around. I'm not sure if we just got a dud, or Honda's QA team took a break. The build quality is less than stellar. Since having the car for less than a year, the front side window lining has rotted off, various knobs and plastic pieces having decided to fall off, the back bumper has warped out of place for some reason, and the front bumper is warping on the passenger side (we live in AZ). I took it through a car was once, and big mistake! No trouble with my other vehicles, but the cheap chrome plastic crap on the front snapped off it after taking it through once. The back wiper also took a hit and had to be bent back into place. The underside looks all rusted now too, and does not appear to be holding up well. I just feel like the build quality is really poor on this as compared to my other Honda experiences. I absolutely love my 2004 civic, and would by another one if I could. That think feels like a tank, whereas this Odyssey feels like it may explode if I fart on it. On top of all this, I now have a check fuel cap error. After researching, this sounds like a common issue for Honda? Maybe not, but I tried a new gas cap and new purge valve solenoid, and no luck. It sucks that it only has 51,000 miles and already has this many issues. Would definitely NOT purchase another. I'm now questioning if I'll even bother with Honda in the future.

We bought this new 7 years ago and really have no complaints about it. It currently has 99,000 miles and other than normal maintenance (including tires, brakes and batteries) we have only had to pay out of pocket for one thing this whole time. That was a oil pressure switch that needed replacing a few months ago. Other than that this van has performed fantastic for our family of five. Plus it is big enough inside the cabin (after the seats are taken out or folded into the floor) to haul many larger objects with the rear tailgate closed - couches, dressers, 4x8 sheets of drywall and plywood, etc. It carries 7 adults comfortably as well. We really have no complaints about the vehicle.

The trackball is not as user friendly as the touch screen in my old 2005. It has voice control, but the book provided is not user friendly, so I suspect it would be great, but I don't know how to do the voice commands. It is Honda Certified, and I bought a platinum warrantee, that I hope I never need. Incredible ride, and gets great gas mileage around town (mid 20s), and 27 0r 28 on long highway trips. I have had the car 2 years now, and still don't know how to do voice commands. I spoke to the dealer, and they were not helpful. I bought the care HONDA Certified, and bought a Platinum warantee. The one thing that has not worked (I had the dealer check it twice) is the sensors for when you are to close to a curb. They just don't work, so I have to be extra careful. Hendrick Honda Dealership where I bought it was not helpful.

After many debates btw Sienna, Quest, and Odyssey, my wife and i finally decided to settle down on Odyssey mainly because of my long great experience with Honda accord and sporty look of Honda Odyssey. This is a fun car to drive, i love the features and option that are included in this car. I like the fact that it looks like a sporty minivan rather than mama's minivan. It's been three monthes and i'm enjoying it alot, my only complain is interior material that is very cheap. This would've been a top minivan had Honda used some decent interior material. The overall interior design is outstanding but material is very cheap.

With 6 occasions in 11 monthsafter purchase where the car could not be started, and 5 trips back to the dealer to try to fix the problem, (and a new battery after the first one died just one month after the car was purchased new) this car is headed for lemon law arbitration. I have owned 7 Hondas. This car shows how badly Honda has slipped. It's a shame that it's such a piece of junk, because on the occasions when it decides to run, it's a very comfortable vehicle.

For one I am young, but have 3 kids 4,6, and 9! I was very hesitant on getting another mini van after i got out of my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan about 2 yrs ago! But i love this van! I dont feel like I am driving a mini van! The kids love the space that we have now after coming out of a 2010 Kia Forte Koup! They can move!!! The vans design is fabulous and love the 3 seats in the middle row! This is my first Honda ever so pretty thrilled with it so far! The drive is smooth! You dont even know its running after you start it! Has alot of power and love the electric doors and trunk! If you are looking for a good quality van this is for you!

We bought the Odyssey right before Thanksgiving to accomodate a growing family. Everything went well for the first 10 days. It drove well and our daughter loved it. Unfortunately on day 10 of ownership, one of the rocker plates broke and got sucked into the intake and destroyed the engine. So now I don't have a car for the next week or two while it gets a new engine. Less then 700 miles with an engine going bad is a tad ridiculous. Wish I could go back on the decision to buy this and go with the Chrysler which I ironically did not buy due to concerns with reliability and resale. Go figure.

2012 Honda Odyssey STILL VIBRATING (10 YEARS LATER)

As I head towards arbitration in January 2013 with Honda and do more independent research, it appears that this unfortunate vibration issue has been occuring as long back as 2001. Honda should be ashamed. I am making a personal mission to spread the word of the lack of Honda quality. Honda offered 4500 (2000 of which the lawyer gets) to shut me up and move on. I said, "Thanks but no thanks". Im taking my chances and going before arbitrator. I wanted Honda to pay the difference of what I owe and the KBB so I can just get rid of this thing. They said no. Consumers can only be fooled for so long Honda. The word will spread. [HTML removed]

Great Van But Now Question About The Build Quality, Driver's Door Handle Broke within 5 days of delivery

I have a 2012 Odyssey Elite which I just purchased 5 days ago and the driver door handle broke. I didn't pull the handle hard or anything and the the locks were unlocked when I tried to pull open the door handle. I was not able to open the driver's side door from the outside but I can open from the inside. @ less than 300 miles, I hear engine knocking in with or without it being in the ECO mode. I will have Honda inspect it when in service. I traded in a car (2006 fully paid off) that gaved me very little problems for a new (2012) car that gaved me issues already. But everything else about the Van is great....

take a close look at the 2011 -2012 odyssey. Ours has 80 miles on it, 1 week old. Rear brake pads was changed, it was literally deteriorating badly , rear rotors had scores in it. engine light came on and to get reset, poorly aligned rear tail gate, bad gaps in body panel, misaligned, poorly painted front and rear bumpers, take a close look at the two rear bumper reflectors, on either sides of it is not painted, under the bumpers are not painted. Honda bean counters are trying to save money by skimping on paint here folks, what else are they doing to save money on a 35K van, it is inexcusable in my book. Other areas of the van that paint is not applied because most consumer don't pay know

Twice in the last year I had my engine rings/pistons redone. Thank you class action lawyers whose settlement got me free repairs. (Ends at year 8). At 92000k I have had car in shop 6 times this year with $3000 in repairs not covered. Bought it new and want to keep it through 150k. At this point not reliable enough that I would take it on long trip. I have owned 3 other Hondas. Hate this car!

Please be leary if you are thinking of buying a used 2012 Honda Odyssey. This vehicle had serious problems with the automatic VCM system. Honda did have a recall on this issue and even extended it for an 8 year period. Should have been a lifetime recall. Just ensure that the engine has been rebuilt, new piston rings installed if you purchase this vehicle. 2012 isn't the only year thus was a problem. I would probably buy a Toyota van.

We have about 8,000 miles on this car, and overall like it quite a bit. It has quite a bit of pickup, even with 5-6 passengers in tow. However, there have been a couple of small mechanical/electronic issues. Also, there is no windshield wiper fluid indicator, which has left us high and dry on two occasions. Really, Honda? Haven't we progressed past 1970? A really tacky omission, particularly for those in regions of the country where fluid is used quite a bit.

Advantages over Sienna: Sleeker Antenna Larger Sunroof Easier to pull 3rd row seats Front row heater button easier to access Rear view camera display is larger compared to base XLE Gas mileage Variable cylinder management Disadvantages: Sienna has more leg room, cargo room, higher HP and torque Advantages over T&C: Ride quality seemed better in Odyssey Quality of materials also seemed better Gas mileage Disadvantages: Nav and rear screen DVD player standard in T&C T&C has LED lighting No movable pedal feature

On two different occasions I have had a problem with accidentally leaving the windows and sun roof open. Apparently this happens if you do a certain combination (one that I haven't figured out yet) on the remote lock. As a result my vehicle has been flooded when it has rained. It seems to me there is a better way.

I purchased this new in 2012 and paid cash for this car. It broke down on the interstate 150 miles from Atlanta with a clogged ERG valve with 30,000 miles on it. The carborator broke apart also and it spent 7 days in the shop. This was in 2013. Now, 4/2014, I drove 1,000 miles after I changed the oil & all the oil is burning up! They are going to re-built the entire engine because it is burning oil at a rate of a 30 year old car! I will Never purchase a Honda again! Do your research because I have after all these problems and many Honda owners have had similar problems. They are lemons and my $40,000 went down the drain! I will Never Buy Honda Again!

We started looking at vans and quickly found this one. It was older than I was thinking about going, but it looked really clean in the pictures and it had all the features we were looking for. When we got to the dealership, we were blown away. This van was immaculate, well maintained, and the dealer had even done the upcoming routine maintenance. The van itself is a high-end Honda. It's like driving a large luxury car, but without any floaty feeling. The ride is excellent, the interior is super comfortable, and its really easy to drive. Overall we've loved the van so far and we look forward to keeping it for many years to come, I mean, it's a Honda so it should last forever.

SO, no one lays awake at night dreaming of their new minivan, right? A BMW 5 series, yes! A minivan, not so much. THat being said, I needed a minivan, I insisted on a degree of luxury and comfort combined with good handling and economy at the gas station. THis car did it all. Overall I averaged 24mpg in 55k miles of driving. Easily got 29-31mpg on the highway. Admittedly I am not a lead-foot. For my everyday commute it was fine. Where it really shone was trips to Costco and family treks. I could get all four of my kids and my wife and travel in comfort with the fantastic extra wide DVD entertaining them. I loaded up all my CD's on the harddrive for unlimited listening options. THe Nav display is recessed so it doesn't get direct sun glare. I would definitely recommend it as the best minivan option for someone who needs one. As for winter driving, the forward traction 2WD was pretty good and I made it better by switching to snow tires during the cold months.

I was looking for a reliable minivan with ample space, high reliability and high resale value. The Odyssey clearly delivers in that space and surprised me with great performance and decent mpg - I get about 27 MPG on average. From that view and the resale value, it’s an economical choice, even though Odysseys got rather expensive. $38K for a mid-level model is rather pricey for what you get in the end and when you look at the cheap plastics that are used throughout the car. The tech in the car is surprisingly mature. The most annoying feature is without doubt the auto-lock of doors. I can’t remember how often I run out to the garage and only find all doors, except the driver’s door, locked.

Reliable, smooth ride. Here's a few pointers: 1. Rear passenger spring Bushing wears out fast because it disintegrates due to the exhaust heat. It'll make a little clunk noise over slow bumps, easy to change and doesn't affect anything if you can live with it. 2. Transmissions are weak, highly advise to perform a drain and fill every year or two. Very simple, takes 20min and use valvoline maxlife atf. 3. Noisy cabin on highway 4. Disassemble and lubricate the brake components every 2 years and your brakes will last forever. 5. Those living in the north, the metal transmission line that goings into the bottom of the radiator gets rusted. Sometimes you can get to it from under if the bolts are not too corroded, otherwise you may have to pull the rad to replace it. Not a huge deal. Make sure you keep the plastic under engine cover. 6. Annoying to have to change the timing belt every 8yr or 160k km. Cost about thousand bucks. 7. Oil spray with krown or equivalent to make the van last forever. 8. The white paint is defective and will eventually peel. Honda extended this warranty for a couple years longernbut our van is now 11yr old, way out or warranty.

Excellent large family vehicle

If you have a large family, this vehicle is for you! Actually bought this in December, 2012. Between all the sports practices and school runs daily, this van didn't disappoint. It is a pleasure to take on those long vacation destinations, it's the most convenient car I've owned. The large automatic sliding doors make drop offs and pickups effortless. This vehicle doesn't just stop at a great people mover, it doubles as an enclosed pickup truck. As our kids grew and started to go out on their own, we were able to remove all the 2nd row seats, and drop down the 3rd row seats and it doubled as a box truck to move all their belongings. So, as my wife and I turn 60 this year, and we are seeing our youngest graduate college, we have 1 last 500 mile move to NC. This van has been much more than transportation for my family, many memories have come from the last 10 plus years in this vehicle. My wife and I have no plans on moving to a different vehicle even though all the kids have grown and moved out on their own. We find the van is very easy getting in and out of, the seats are comfortable and my wife likes that she is sitting higher in the van than in a car. Now for an honest review of the mechanics of the car over the past 10 years. Yes, brakes early on were definitely an issue with warping, but I have since been able to find better aftermarket rotors and pads that help with the longevity of the brakes. Also had front suspension noise that the dealer could never find. At 125,000 miles I had all the struts and bushings replaced and then the car felt brand new after that. We did start developing paint coming off the roof and rear tailgate, so the dealer did take care of painting that for us under warranty. (Color is pearl white) The car now has almost 160,000 miles and running strong with no signs of major issues.

Compared to my touring 2009 the new van falls so short. The inside quality has been reduced to that of an Amerian made van. The ride is not as smooth. Options are now overpriced. My 2009 had an buyer within the hour at above book price. Interesting that even others see he value in the older models. You do better o by a used Honda with the old body style. The old style is a blast to drive.

Look for well maintained vehicle. Test drove a couple that weren't near as nice as the one we bought.

I've spent about $2k per year on this piece of junk. Everything from suspension, CV joints, a timing belt tensioner that were out after just 41000 miles, the list goes on and on. I would have done better financially if I'd bought a Chevy or jeep. I'll never buy a Honda again. Toyotas are vastly superior and it's not even close.

I love driving my 2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L. I have 28,000 miles on it and have made no repairs to it, other than standard maintenance like oil changes, air filters, tire rotation. I've had no problems whatsoever. I agree with the other reviewer who said the headrests are uncomfortable. I also wish there were more USB ports in the rear, but I believe that was added on the newer models. Overall, I love this van!

I really really love my van. We've owned for 6 months now and taken a couple of roadtrips with our 2 and 5 year old. It is so comfy and convenient and roomy for just such excursions. The only thing I am not happy about is our A/C. It doesn't seem to blow COLD. It's cool, but not cold. We live in Phoenix, AZ so when it's not blowing ice cubes (which I expect from a vehicle I paid around 40K for and is brand new) and it's 110+ degrees, that makes for a hot, irritable mommy. It especially doesn't seem to blow cold driving around town or when we stop at a light. Took it to the dealer, and they said the charge was low and recharged the system but I didn't notice a difference.

I've had my new Odyssey for a month and am very satisfied. I find the 5 speed transmission very smooth and would not recommend spending an additional $4000 just to obtain a 6 speed and another 1 MPG. I averaged 17.8 MPG on my first tank of gas per the on board computer (17.86 based on actual fuel consumption). This was with 100% A/C and city driving. I miss the middle row Stow and Go of my former Grand Caravan, but this is a small price to pay given the quality of this vehicle.

Great car to drive, just not a 4 kid car

Middle row not as functional as initially thought. Traded in '08 8 pass Sienna for it. If you have 2 kids tops who use the middle as "captians" with the center down all the time - 3 in car seats - or 1 in the middle, 2 in the back - it would work. But the 8th spot is not comfy for all the time seating and the outboard seats, when slid to get in the back, still make a tight space and don't revert to their original position once up. Also you have to push the BACK of the seat to lock it so if your kid forgets you are driving with a seat bonking around you can't reach to click back in place. Long term, with 4 kids, I think a true 2 captain's chair set up would have been better for us.

Cheap Continental Tires

After 2 years of driving the mini-van, here is my review: 1) Cheap Tires - After 21,000 miles, the original Continental Tires already wore out. I had to spend over $600.00 for new tires. 2) Too Wide - I had an accident involving my garage and the mini-van fender. The car is just too wide for my garage. 3) Cheap Spoiler - The spoiler at the top rear of van is made of cheap plastic (but expensive to replace). I prefer it to be made of metal. 4) Sliding Door Jam - Clicking the pushbutton two times will cause the sliding door to stall. 5) Cheap Plastic Bumpers 6) No Side Molding - Paid about $300 for side molding purchase and installation. 7) Outside Temperatre Gauge not Accurate

We purchased a new 2012 Odyssey in Dec. I traded in my 2008 Sienna with over 100,000 miles. Big mistake!!! I really enjoyed driving the Sienna. It was easy to maneuver and I had no problems getting in and out of parking spaces. It also had nice leg room in the front. The Odyssey leg space is so small my husband sits in the back with the kids even on short trips around town. The worst parts are the SLOW back doors and the fact you have to hold down on the remote key for 3 seconds before the doors begin to open. Big issue- the car pulls to the left when going over 60 mph in fast lane. Service dept said it was because of minor slant in road for drainage?!?!

We have owened two Honda Pilots, most resently a 2011 and a Honday Odyssey. The 2012 Odyssey beats our previous honda's by leaps and bounds. The comfort is unmatched and the room inside it is crazy! Plenty of pep and smooth acceleration when needed. Plus, 20 mgp is hard to beat in our mountainous region. We couldn't be happier with our new Odyssey! Cant go wrong here.

I always loved Honda, but I'm quite disappointed with the 2012 Odyssey. Engine is not powerful enough (now 2014 still using the same weak engine, the Accord V6 gets 30 additional HP!). I am very upset with the sliding doors, worst design ever! Keeps beeping & stalling (Chrysler and Toyota make it much more intuitive). Wipers leaves too big of an area un-wiped. Ride is fairly smooth in general but rough & loud over bumps or potholes. (Chevy Traverse is so much better, as well as Toyota Sienna). Brakes are cheap, at about 17,000 miles, brakes are vibrating violently, I had to change brakes/rotors. Steering wheel feels over-sized. Steering feel not great. Climate controls not intuitive. Remote key fob sucks, and still no remote starter! Turning circle not as tight as Sienna. Ugly gauges. Service engine light not good. Hideous Exterior!

Have had only a few issues, and they were covered by the warranty. It's a great vehicle for the entire family. Plus being able to open and close the rear doors with a push of a button (remote or dash) is a real bonus when transporting other older adults. This is my 2nd Odyssey and plan to buy another one next year.

The vehicle is solidly built. It has leather trim, moonroof and lots of legroom. The cabin is very quiet. With all the glass rolled up there is no outside noise whatsoever. The vehicle is built for long distance tour. It's a great car. I love it. I use it for my summer road trips across the United States.

Maybe this is more of a problem with Honda (Service). First, we purchased this van as it came off lease, and then we had it serviced by the mechanic we had had service all of our cars. However, our purchase and subsequent non-Honda servicing did not allow Honda to keep up with our ownership, and therefore, We didn’t get any technical service bulletins, until free repair of issues had passed. While our alarm van has a of issues, the most troubling is a technical service bulletin they’re offered free repair of an issue within the engine block and cylinders, which has at this point left our van unable to pass any state inspection without performing $4000 worth of work.

We have had Hondas for 30+ years. This minivan (touring model) was a money pit. Roters needing to constantly be replaced AND peeling pain everywhere (they recalled, repainted, and it peeled again - and we paid extra for that paint!). Now the transmission/clutch pressure control is shot, and at 166000 miles we have a car that costs more to fix than it is worth. Hondas used to make it into the 200000s and used to hold value. I will never get an Odyssey Touring minivan again.
