Used 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L 4dr Minivan w/Entertainment, Navigation (3.5L 6cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
Now I Understand
We looked at several competitors - Honda have raised the bar. The Honda has great styling, the interior is first rate, could easily be a Acura.
EX-L RES/NAV So far so good.
My wife and I have only had the van for two weeks, and will update the review once I put a few thousand miles on it. It is a joy to drive and the kids enjoy the DVD system.

Very impressed !
The 2006 EX-L RES/NAV Odyssey is one of the best things that our family purchased. I looked at the Toyota and would have purchased it, but the comparibly equipped Sienna came in about $2500 higher than the Odyssey. I purchased a 7 year 120k extended warranty online at an excellent price because of all the electronic gizmo's that the Odyssey offers. Only time will tell on reliability. Mileage has been 16-18 in the city with 22-23 on the highway. That is with four family members and a load of stuff to support to small kids.
Bubba Beta-Build ain't better
My expectation for a Honda vehicle was that it would be well-built and reliable. I was very disappointed to find the low gloss, poor paint filled with dirt on horizontal surfaces, body panels that don't fit and indifferent build quality. This is domestic poor build quality for premium prices. Honda obviously has high gross profit margin on these cars built in Alabama because they certainly haven't invested in their process or quality control safety nets to deliver value. I'm sorry that I didn't buy the Sienna. Having said this, we love the van, but feel that it delivers marginal value for money paid.
Very good, for the most part...
The Odyssey is overall very decent. Upscale feel on the inside. Car is quiet and smooth. Satisfying power and surprisingly very good handling. I also own a Subaru STi and CBR1000RR bike, and still am pleasantly surprised at the Odyssey's acceleration and car-like handling. The Nav system is also very impressive and fast... this and the 630+ recognized voice commands are tres cool!!! Even my wife who was reluctant to buy this extra technogear now wonders how she got along without it. Here's the bad parts: Consistently disappointing gas mileage 16-17 mpg even when driven by my wife, who doesn't live life past 4K RPM. Sunroof is already broken, too.
