Used 1999 Honda Odyssey Consumer Reviews
Best van anywhere
I've test driven every van out there and the Odyssey is in a class by itself. All of the features and quality for less price. And talk about resale! I'm selling mine and buying a new one w/leather + dvd. Smooth, big, functional (love the doors and hideaway seat). Don't even think about buying anything else.
I like my Odyssey
I have had the car for 10 years. never had a problem. Great minivan. 28 MPG All the power you will need. Loves to cruse at 80MPH

Disappointed
We purchased this minivan thinking that with Honda's reliability, we would have years of service. We were very wrong. We have had repeated power door problems, suspension problems, several recalls, and a replaced transmission. The engine now leaks oil and has less than 100,000 miles. Having owned this vehicle, I now know that I will never own another Honda again. There apparently is a myth about Honda reliability. If foreign cars are no better, why do we continue to buy them?
Poor Quality
My first time to own Honda vehicle and frustrated me with the poor quality\ in suspension shocks(squeaks), sliding doors hard to be opened if not used for a few days.(Note: doors are lubricated.)--handles broke twice at both doors, transmission noisy when change gear from "Park" to "Drive" in a gentle slope , climate control knobs cracked...Whole bunch problems occurred around 30K miles. Fixed them at the dealers and problems come back again at 60k miles. People buy this minivan SHOULD purchase extended warranty.
Vantastic
We've had a great experience with this van -- no problems at all. With 104K miles on it we are selling it to my wife's sister and we bought a new Odyssey van. It's all in how you drive and take car of your vehicle. We used this van on long trips mostly and it performed beautifully on the highway. We consistenly got 27 mpg on the road and 21 in town (unleaded exclusively). Changed oil every 3K miles. Kept it clean; followed the service manual; waxed it 1-2 times a year, and never had a lick of trouble. We don't work for Honda and don't own their stock either. We have had 3 Chrysler vans, but think Honda builds a better van.
