my most excellent Insight
This is by far the best car I ever drove. It handles great, goes as fast as I want, and gets over 80 mpg on the highway. It has plenty of cargo space. Just driving it and seeing the effect of my formerly heavy left foot on the mileage has transformed my driving from the usual "get there first" attitude to "get there in my own sweet time", and I enjoy driving much more now without the usual rush. If you're man enough to let go of beating everyone else you'll love it.
I've got one
This car is the coolest thing around. There's no other car in the world where you drive in style and get 75mpg at the same time. I've owned my Insight for 4yrs now I get close to 800 miles per tank. I would highly recommend this car to anyone who wants to save their money and not give it away to the Billionares on the oil companys, at the same time your saving the enviroment. You will get so many looks and questions everywhere you go. Four years later an I still get questions everytime I fill up well that's every month and a half.... If you want to save you money and use it for something else buy a Honda Insight you'll the car and attention that comes with it....
Just Hummin along
Buying this car was the smartest thing I have ever done. I bought it just before the gas prices exploded. Thanks HONDA! I love to drive it! I parked in A very small parking place. the three men sitting on the bench watching me gave me a standing ovation when i got out of the car.
I'll buy another
I really love my Insight. My large 6'4" 250 lbs husband does also. We drove it from St. Louis to Palm Springs California this summer and all he did was rave about how much fun, power, and gas economy it had. I have had people I work with ask to drive it and they loved it. I don't understand why I don't see more. You can test drive mine any time.
Too little car for Too much money
The car is massively underpowered, acceleration is almost none existant. If I would have purchase any of the several economy cars that sell for less than $10,000 I would have had the same level of comfort and performance, I could have easily paid the differtence in fuel costs and I would have had $5000 or more still in my poscket.
don't buy a hybrid
other than gas mileage this car sucks. it's not worth the money or the discomfort
Insight T
At freeway speeds and distances of over 500 miles I average over 70mpg. Shorter distances and lower speeds I average about 55mph. The seats are a little thin so raide could be better.
Milage not what I expected
Having driven about 10000 miles both in city and from Dallas, Tx to Ocala, Fl and back I can say the milage is nowhere near the 56MPG rating. Lack of cruise control really hurts. If you are used to cruise control you will have to change the way you drive or the speed will easily creep up to 80 and above. The best milage I have achieved is 52MPG highway and 46 in town. Once the summer temperatures go up you can expect those numbers to drop 20% because of the air conditioner. Electric motor is noisy.
Now for Something Completely Different
When I began my search for a new car, I looked for one that would have character and performance. I wanted an anti-SUV, an "environmentally friendly" automobile (perhaps an oxymoron), and a car that you would not see every day. The Insight is uniquely and beautifully designed. It provides the "difference" which I was seeking and is, both in size and performance, the quintessential "anti-SUV." I now hope that more and more drivers will opt for this wonderful, sensible, and responsible vehicle.
Buyer Beware
This is a great car, IF you live in a flat place with no snow like Arizona or Florida. This car is miserable in snow and very slow on hills (or anytime power is needed). You will note that the people who love this car the most and get the best mileage live in very flat, warm areas. In New Jersey or New York traffic this car is simply dangerous. It is too small to be seen and does not have the suspension or power to handle ruts, potholes, hills, crosswinds, etc. Remember: this car gets most of its efficiency out of extreme light weight and incredibly narrow and hard tires. This combo does not make for a very safe car.
Trade in special
From the frist day the trouble began, the car (or over powered skateboard) did not provide the power needed to passs, or get smoothly into the normal traffic pattern. on hot days the a/c could not keep up. and most of all the customer service was dreadfull.
KEPT US ALIVE
We were rear ended by a heavy truck carrying 2 large Jacuzzi tubs. We had stopped at a yellow light, the truck didn't stop. The hood of the truck was two inches from our front seat. It was your accident bar that kept it from literally rolling over the entire car. Our car was a 2004 hybrid INSIGHT. GOD'S hand and the safety features of your car saved us.
