Overall good car - great headlights
First, I'd like to say these reviews saying it lacks power are not true. It has a CVT transission, which is not noisy, but makes it a smoother ride where you don't feel the trasmission shifting, maybe this is mistaken for lack of power. Not a sporty race car, but plenty of power for merging and hills. I'm at 80 mph before I know it. The transmission sound takes a bit to get used to because it doesn't shift, but it's not bothersome. Gets you in and out of traffic, easily. Drives and handles very well. Goes through snow easily - we live in the snowbelt and it has performed well. Lots of room. hough I do get other drivers flashing their brights - I don't care I can see really well. The headlights are fantastic, altNow for the bad. I don't like the Hankook tires that came with it, but that's because in my experience, they don't last. The seats are hard and uncomfortable. The backup camera is close to useless - it's always obstructed by snow or rain and doesn't have good vision in the dark. I hate the postion and type of fuel gauge, it's very hard to see and read. It'll look like it reads 1/4 tank, then the low fuel light comes on. The radio gets very poor reception and no cd player. I don't like all the added technological features, I don't care if it has Apple Car Play. The manual that comes with the car is lengthy and in fine print. The outside mirrors are too small. We looked at several other vehicles. A lot of dealerships were charging over MSRP or making up abbreviations trying to take advantage of the customers. Even at Honda dealerships. we were having a hard time finding an honest dealer. Our local dealership, Victory Honda in Austinburg, Ohio, wanted @$5000 over MSRP and tried to lowball us on our trade-in. We call Apostalikis Honda in Cortland and they gave us MSRP plus a good price on trade-in. We saved close to $8000. So, don't accept these dishonest dealerships. Honda should do something about this thievery. All-in-all, we felt it was the best value out there, and we really liked how it handled. Also, we've always had good luck with Hondas, and we feel confident in their dependability. Everyday mixed driving we get almost 31 mpg.

Huge Improvement over previous HR-V
The 2023 HR-V is a major improvement over the 2020 HR-V I owned. The ride is better, the engine has more HP and the interior looks was more upscale than the previous version. With the EX-L, along with the normal safety features, it also comes with parking sensors, low speed braking and blind spot monitoring. The rear view mirror is also auto dimming. The 8 speaker sound system is adequate. It is also nice that the EX-L comes with a power drivers seat. All things considered, I am very happy I upgraded to the 2023.

Not comparable with 2022 HR-V in any way
Over the summer I purchased a 2023 HR-V LX. Coming from a Honda Pilot V6, I had to lower my expectations with power but it is actually pretty quick on the highway once you are up to speed. A bit slow from 0-20 mph but hey, it is a four cylinder CVT SUV, I can't demand too much from it. The styling is great in my opinion. If you told me 4 years ago this would be an Acura product, I would believe you 100%. The color combo I have is white exterior and beige interior. The cloth is very nice and heavy duty, but can get dirty. I am never lacking for any room, very comfortable in any seat and I am 6'1. The suspension is very well calibrated. It is Always nice and composed for a small SUV. The infotainment is good as well. The speakers are good for a base model. One thing that I don't particularly like is the adaptive cruise control. I come from an old car with regular cruise control and I would prefer that any day of the week over the adaptive one. Even on the closest following distance it is very aggressive. It starts braking and then rides the brakes for a bit until the car infront speeds up. I would not be able to use this on the highway. I am not sure if only Honda's are this aggressive with the adaptive cruise but just know it is very aggressive. Overall, it is very nice car, even the base model. If I met someone who was in the market for a small SUV, everytime I would say 2023 HR-V.

bring a cushion
The overall car is great. Above average. The front seats are very hard but plenty of room up front, The back seats are better but bring cushion for long rides. Love the outside styling better than the competition. Got a great grey color and the black interior is attractive and well appointed. It has enough power to get along. I didn't buy a hot rod! Fuel economy is very good. I finally sold an 18 yr old Element to buy this and I'm happy. Honda really needs to do something about the hard front seats.

Wonderful car for a cold, snowy climate.
We live in location where you expect winter to last five months. We just started driving the car in January. We purchased the HRV Sport model because it has heated cloth seats which are much faster to warm up than the cold, heated leather seats of more expensive models. The car comes with a soft-grip heated steering wheel and it performs amazingly well. No more cold fingers clenching a hard plastic, frozen wheel. The car’s heating system is superior to other vehicles we’ve driven. This AWD car handles well in snow and ice. The windshield washer works beautifully even in the coldest temperatures. Our washer fluid is good to minus 35. The backup camera is extremely helpful when reversing into snowbanks and Apple Car Play is a must in every new vehicle. The sight lines in the car are excellent even for taller drivers. Is the car slow? Don’t really know as 90 per cent of the time we are driving the car in crowded urban areas with high traffic volumes. The pick up is more than adequate for city environs. The manually adjusted front seats are comfortable although we have yet to take the car on a long summer drive. The car is quiet and handles well. The cargo space is more than adequate for a week’s groceries. Overall the car feels upscale for an entry level vehicle. The Mazda 30 rivals the interior quality of the HRV but its poor sight lines are a deal breaker. Sure the Mazda 30 has better pickup but we prefer to see where we are going as well as not hit our head on the roof while wondering if traffic lights, hidden by a sharply sloping windshield, have turned green. Overall the HRV is a joy to drive and exceeds our expectations of what new cars offer today’s customers. We’ve now owned the car for 2.5 years and beyond two recalls there have been no repairs issues. We still like the car and believe we made a good choice buying it.

Great style, mediocre performance and features
Having had a CR-V for a couple of years, and loving it, we decided to buy a second Honda, the redesigned HR-V. After driving it for a little over a year, here are the goods and bads. Overall, if I could go back to my purchase decision, I would not buy this car again. Good: styling, cargo space, eespecially when seats are folded down, wireless Android auto, interior layout, especially center console, and safety features work great. Bad: gas mileage is average at best, lacks power- especially for gas mileage it gets, push open gas cap has malfunctioned at least 6 times, twice causing the latch on the door panel to break, seat belt mechanism has stuck repeatedly, back seats lack any creature comforts- no devoted power or fold down center for drink holders, no assisted lift gate, wireless charger only works about 75% of the time, trade in value at this point is very low compared to retail price

Not a cold weather car
I have a 223 HR-V Sport. It is fun to drive and the 4wd is very good in deep snow. But the car has issues with cold weather. The screen freezes up and frosts over, takes quite a while to thaw out. The heater cannot keep up, sometimes it doesn't get warm, even after a half hour of driving. And the battery is way under powered. I had the car for 2 months and the battery could no longer command-start the car. I had to buy a trickle charger and plug it in each night just to keep the battery charged enough to run the car. A few notes. I am in Winnipeg and the temp has been -20 Celsius. While this is cold, it does get much colder. And I don't drive it much, about 500 km per month. I was told by the Honda dealer that I don't drive it enough to keep the battery charged. Odd since it replaced a 2019 CRV with virtually same features, same climate, same driving style and it didn't have any of these problems.

Typical Honda
I took possession of my new HRV in Oct. 2022, There is a rattle in the back hatch and at 1800 miles there is now a crack in the front windshield. Honda and the dealer have rejected my request they replace the window. The crack is all the way down to the bottom edge and working up. No real rock ding. Very disappointing. The handling and feel have been great, just disappointed with the way I've been dismissed by Honda.

poor materials and workmanship
It makes a noise in the center console in the morning, even if it is parked or when you turn on the wipers, when you drive on rural roads, the plastic of the hatch will vibrate with the metal and it makes a noise as if you were driving a car that was used 10 years ago.

Why Do We Have to Pay Extra For Safety???
Decent vehicle that is practical for gas consumption, parking yet stores a lot of goods. But why does Honda make you pay extra for safety features found standard on similar vehicles?
2023 HR-V is Disappointing
I have put nearly 100,000 trouble-free miles on a 2016 Honda HR-V. It has been one of my favorite automobiles, despite relative lack of power, harsh ride, and seats that are uncomfortable on long drives. When Honda announced the 2023 redesign, I was excited. A test drive quickly dispelled my excitement. The seats and ride are little improved. Thanks to adding nearly 300 pounds to vehicle weight, even with an engine that is 200cc larger, acceleration is no better than the 2016 HR-V. Honda eliminated paddle shifters, which are handy on mountain roads. The 2023 model is 11 inches longer and 2 inches wider, but thanks to getting rid of the "magic seats," it has less cargo room than the 2016 model, and gets worse gas mileage. What were Honda engineers thinking? I ended up buying a 2023 Kia Niro SX, which feels like a real 21st century automobile. It rides better and quieter, the seats are far more comfortable, it has more cargo volume, and gets ~70% better gas mileage. AND it has paddle shifters! I plan to keep my 2016 HR-V until it dies. UPDATE March 2025: Between 100,000 and 103,000 miles, the starter failed, and I had to replace both transaxles due to ruptured rubber boots. These were the only significant repairs since new. When I was a kid, cars had odometers that only went to 99,999 miles because nobody expected to last that long.

Underpowered!
I loved everything about the new HR-V except for the engine and price. It's severely underpowered and noisy and gets worse gas mileage than the 2022 model. When Honda offers the Civic 4 cylinder turbo engine and/or a PHEV version engine, it will be a significant improvement! Honda dropped the ball with no hybrid option, Toyota is way ahead offering customers what they want.

Seat Height Dilemma
I recently leased a 2023 Honda EXL. After extending my 2019 HRV lease a year to wait for the newly designed model, I admittedly did not test drive before leasing. As soon as I left the dealer to drive home I noticed the driver's seat, at its highest height, was not high enough for me. At 5' 6" I am not short. I was surprised that a power seat would be limited as to how high it would go. I immediately called the salesman, service department, and Honda directly. Unfortunately, they could not assist and indicated that the new model is being made to give the lower feel of a car. I don't understand why with a power seat the driver is given limitations as to how high the seat will adjust. Because of this I had to purchase a cushion and therefore cannot use the heated seat function. In addition, the passenger front seat is also very low, with no option to adjust height, and there is no handle above the seat to assist a passenger getting out of the car. Bottom line, for the duration of my lease (another 33 months) I will have to adjust a cushion every time I get into the car, and my front seat passenger will likely comment that they feel like they're sitting on the rode. Other than that, the vehicle has a sleek, modern look with a spacious interior for a subcompact SUV. My suggestion, be sure to test drive no matter what, you never know what feature may just not be right for you.

Buyer beware - no support from Honda
We received our 2023 hr-v in September, 3 months after ordering it as promised. A car pulled out in front of us causing an accident December 14th. We still don't have our hr-v back. Honda can not supply replacement seatbelts for the car. It's been almost 6 months! Honda has escalated our seatbelts to "critical" in their supply chain but still have NO ESTIMATE as to when the parts will be available. I keep getting the same run around when I call. The local dealer now has over 50 new hr-v's on the lot. Honda is obviously prioritizing new car production and their profit margin at the expense of current owners. My family has owned over 20 Hondas among my parents and sister's families. We will no longer be purchasing any Honda products. I can't speak to the pros or cons of the vehicle as we've only driven it 1500 miles in 8 months of ownership due to Honda's inability or unwillingness to support us despite our long term support of them.

Amazing little CUV packed with standard features!
First off test drive it yourself and don’t listen to the people saying it’s extremely slow because it isn’t. I have a 2023 HRV sport trim and it’s loaded with tons of features as standard. I’m talking adaptive cruise control, lane departure, road departure mitigation, frontal collision avoidance, pedestrian front and rear cross traffic warning , rear back up camera with different angles/views, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic lights with automatic dimming, heated front cloth seats with sport copper accent stitching, black painted 18 rims with a more sporty design than the ex/ EXL trims. In other words it’s packed to the brim with features I’m leaving several out because it has so many all of them are standard too. The only thing that I really don’t like about it is the lack of rear ac vents or a center folding arm rest for the back passengers, granted it’s usually just me driving by myself. As far as driving is concerned it’s smooth, fairly quiet, extremely fuel efficient I have a lead foot and am getting on average 31.4 city and 40+ hwy cruising around 55 to 65mph. On the interstate driving 70 to 85 mph i average 34.2 mpg needles to say I’m blown away by the performance and fuel efficiency. Mine is just the standard front wheel drive I didn’t get AWD because here in the south it’s a complete waste of money so if you go with AWD expect lower fuel mileage and higher maintenance costs than the standard FWD configuration. 0 to 60 times are no race car however it’s adequate and if already moving going from like 30 mph to 70 it’s pretty quick. Not going to lie the only time it sounds loud and buzzy is when you’re really deep into the throttle driving normally it’s quite. Overall it’s hard to beat for the standard features to price ratio and Honda reliability reputation. If taken care of and properly maintained this HRV should easily last 200 to 350 thousand miles easily 10 to 15 years. Insurance in my case atlest is cheaper because of all those standard safety features. I almost forgot about the keyless proximity fob, push button, advanced lock options, advanced rolling down of windows with the fob, and remote start standard for sport trims and EXL trims. The same features minus remote start are standard for the base lx trim. Update 7 k miles later still loving this little cross over!

2023 Sport HRV
Great car, all the features a driver needs. Not the best power but gets A-B. Apple car play, whatever play, does it matter when your focus should be on driving? A good investment is buying, not leasing, a car that can last 10-15 years. Honda does that! If you want a a car that can drive you, while your computer or mobile device controls you, get an electric car. Driving is an experience!
LX, I love it only one drawback
I love everything but hate how I can’t reset my mpg or see a mpg graph due to not having the bigger screen like the ex l. Should be standard, my 2016 Corolla had mpg reset

worst car ever driven, dangerous to drive
HRV has the most scary technology. At speeds, steering wheel gets stuck, you can't maneuver, Honda lets satan take control, you feel you are going to die, have been to 2 new Honda dealerships, but they could not do anything , curse bastard honda everyday, never honda again, wasted my money and bought fear , insecurity, and doomsday. Shame on satanic animal called honda. Only realized the hazards after I went on a freeway, 3 months after buying. Now I could not return. I hate you honda, hate you. Honda is hands down the worst out there. Driving HR-V is risky, everyday I curse. Buy it back from me or there is no forgiveness for you. I am spreading the word to all my family, friends and co- workers. Stupid Honda should enjoy this free publicity.

New Best Friend!
I'm amazed at the number of safety features! I'm more confident driving at night & embrace the winter months with my heated seats!
Pretty good car
Honestly, I wasn't expecting to get a Honda yet again. I was planning on another car. After owning an accord for 19 years, I saw this hrv. It's a beautiful car, very spacious. Very confortable. The trunk is pretty great considering the size of the vehicle. It accelerates pretty well. I've driven 6,500 miles so far and everything's good. Although sometimes the car play can be a bit slow reacting, and the controls can take a bit time and may not work quickly. Otherwise it's pretty overall great.

Uncomfortable seats
I wish I had not leased this car. Biggest regret. I don't look forward to driving it. The seat is unbearably uncomfortable. It doesn't have a trunk release from the inside and the lift is manual. I went from an Acura to this and there is no comparison. Missing my Acura. Buyer beware of these terrible seats. It also rocks easily back and forth as other cars pass by. I hate it.

Honda went backwards with this redesign
Compared to our 2018, the only new PROs we saw was a wider vehicle which helps with front space, and more safety technology available. The overall look is a major downgrade. I have no idea what they were thinking when they picked this design. The front end is hideous. The entire vehicle looks like a dated blob. Inside looks more modern. But, the loss of the magic seats and some other previous details makes the new HR-V a non-contender. And if you thought the previous model was slow ( it is) the new one is painful in acceleration. Every previous HR-V model owner we have talked to agrees. They won’t consider the new model when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. Honda blew it.
My best car ever!
It has it all except electric adjustable front seats.

Expensive. No, just blame inflation
I picked up a 2023 HRV in Sport trim with AWD for about $33.5k including tax and license. It is for my son who is going to get his license soon. This HRV is about $1k more than my 2020 Accord EXL with the 2.0 Turbo and 10 speed AT. Must be the inflation to have this kind of price increase. I don't even want to know how much a 2023 Accord EXL would cost these days. Anyway, back to the HRV. It is a very basic car. no front grab handles for driver and front passenger so will need to get used to that. For this price, no Homelink comes with the car and this was a surprise. Car drives well for a small SUV and engine is smooth, definitely under power where I am used to the Accord 2 liter turbo. Overall pleased and just to accept the fact that $33k does not get you much these days.

Several issues in only a year!
Okay, after about a year of driving it, there has been several minor issues, each involving long hours at the service center to get them addressed. They were all covered, which is nice. However, very concerning. First, a plastic trim over the rear wheel flew off while we we're driving. Then, seat belt recall. A loose rear poilers. After that, rear window recall. Other than the seat belt, none of those seem like essential parts. However, the time spent taking care of each adds up. I've owned several Honda vehicles over the years, and while I still think they're safe vehicles, I will no longer continue to purchase or recommending them after so many issues with our H-RV in a short time.
