Noisy and boring looking

I would NOT buy this car again. It is very noisy on the road you can’t hear the radio. The Bluetooth works intermittently, My brother in law told me he bought the FIT and sold it after 6 months it was so noisy on the road. The HRV is on the same frame as the FIT It also looks like every other car on the road and in the parking lots hard to find. The interior fooled me as it is really nice next to the FIT which looked cheap. It makes you think it’s a better car which it isn’t. If you get it you may want to buy a bright color so you can find it easily. Also good mileage on economy mode. Good luck! Year 2016 would sell if economy was better. Have steered many away from this really noisy car. Doing my moral duty. As Honda doesn’t. Hate hate hate this car! Can barely hear the passenger talking next to you. the noise Really gets on your nerves if you’re on the freeway. The shock absorbers are non existent and you feel every single bump which is a lot on the seattle area freeways. If cars weren’t so expensive I would dump this car in a heart beat. good things: haven’t had any problems with car. good mileage, lots of extra space in fact excellent design of space.

First ride impressions

2016 Honda HR-V EX-L 4dr SUV w/Navigation (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

I really think this a decently well equipped vehicle. I seem to be different and unique to everyone else. This is Honda and as a Honda product it is well built. I get disappointed with vehicle options across the board and with all manufacturers. First, I absolutely despise black interior. Gray seats is an option but the door trim, carpeting , and trim panels are all black. I work in the construction trade. With the mud on my boots and dirt on clothing I hate black. It shows everything. Another disappointment is the Ex-L with Nav trim level. I wish an EX-L trim was available like on the C-RV. Factory Nav is a very pricey option. I have a smart phone. The factory system has screen mirroring and Bluetooth. I see no justifiable reason what so ever I should upwards of $1000 for a Nav system when a phone offers the features for free. In the bigger more expensive C-RV Honda takes this into consideration and offers Nav as a stand alone option in the EX-L trim. I live a area that gets alot of snow, but I drive about 45,000mi/yr. I wanted just FWD because of the 3MPG better highway fuel economy. I have used dedicated winter tires on all of my vehicles for many years. So far, I have held off on my purchase of an H-RV, as I can purchase a FWD C-RV EX-L w/o Nav for only a couple thousand more with current local incentives and market pricing.

Not a race car. zero to sixty in two weeks. Great economy is gained by giving up power. Not real comfortable for long trips, an hour or more, electronics hard to work, you have to hit the screen with much pressure to make it work. other than that the HRV is a decent car even though it's feel is not the usual Honda quality feel and if this is your first new Honda, you will probably like it. This is my 16th New Honda since 89 so I expect a lot from Honda and this one ranks low for me. Maybe because it was assembled in Mexico.

If you're more than average-size this vehicle is not for you. I did enjoy every aspect of the the car as far as performance, look and technology. The space for even the driver is on the smaller side and my wife who has long legs felt that her knees were practically in her face. love it but needs more room. (Felt the same about the CR-V, also.

Was excited about this car. I went for a test drive which was ok. The car had some limitations that surprised me. The side mirrors on the EX only fold in part way, manually. The seats are manual. Hard to locate the charging area. Think I will wait another year so they can work out the kinks.

I currently own a 2015 CRV which I dislike more than any car I have ever owned. After 8 mons I have had more issues and simply tired of the service dept acting as though they see and feel nothing..I have been trying out other vehicles and this was one even though I have no intention of buying Honda again. This car is cute but the ride is so bad. I drove it while raining and it hydroplanes so bad at 40 mph..so does my CRV. I am female 120 lbs and this HRV is so tight feeling. My body is too close to the door, you have to work at it to get into the console, head rests make no sense, even getting in the way. I will never trust them again. They took my hard earned money for nice down payment, lied to my face day of purchase and then told me it was Hinda's problem, not theirs. My neighbor bought the new Piot and has owned one for years but syas it has all changed..this new car is cheaper made and he is having huge issues..Don't hold out for them. They contcated me one time in all the mons I have owned crv and the conversation was scripted and cold. I'm on a mission to find facts. Good Luck everyone.

This model is just a little smaller than Honda CRV. Lots of versatility in cargo configurations. The Magic Seat is great! Very smooth ride and good pick up but if you need a little more, you just put it in the Sport Gear and Go! This was a 2 year old car but an upgrade from my 2007 Dodge Caliber. I didn't want a lot of extras on this car, that is why I chose the LX not the EX. I love this car - its a nice dark green too, which is not like everyone else's!

My 3rd and Last Honda. Sold it at 42k miles

I loved my first ever 1995 Honda Accord and my 2009 CRV but I think Honda has never been the same since the Fukushima incident in 2011 and it shows with Consumer Reports ratings going down hill. I believe they lost some of their top engineers and production was a logistics nightmare. What was wrong with my new 2016 Honda HR-V? The inside of the rear hatch fills with water every time it rains, so when you open it you get a shower. There are many threads about this Major Flaw and there has been No Recall and good luck getting it fixed. The passenger rear door unlocks on occasion, when you hit the unlock button,...when it wants to. But the doors love to lock!! Like every 20 seconds! I've never had such frustration with doors...ever. It's laughably slow. It's slower than anything I've ever driven with a gas engine, other than my father's Toro riding lawn mower and it may actually be faster off the line!! The placement of the push-button parking brake is in a terrible place. It's right behind the gear shifter and it's super easy to accidentally hit. It was an afterthought. Speaking of putting it in Drive, there is no "click or mechanical engaged feel" between Park /Reverse /Neutral /Drive/Sport so nearly every time I go past drive and accidentally put it in sport, then go forward to put it in drive and it slides into neutral. Frusting as well. I've worked in the auto industry for 7 years and this is a first. Look up ATDS in Ontario California. We were the only company in North America conducting all of the quality control testing for Porsche of Stuttgart. I'm not an expert by any means but I know a few things about engineering. The HR-V is a budget vehicle and I get that, but it's a terrible budget vehicle and it's not really "that cheap". For the price of a new one just go get a slightly used Toyota/ Lexus or Mazda. My .02

Not a Bad Car But Not a Great Car....

This is a very Mediocre car. The Good is it was under $25K done with the joke... ($24,995). The interior wasn't designed for people who like pockets for stuff like your sun - glasses, purse and or ? Other women have said the same thing. The console needs to be redesigned and it will be... Love the backseat manipulation designed * why I bought the car. Disappointments, yes more than one: 1) How bad it handles in snow for a 4 wheel crossover, 2) lack of Power even for a little old lady... 3) Hatch back sticks and no option for auto release or shut (old school manual shut) If you can get it open!!!! 4) HONDA SERVICE minus 10 company doesn't care. 5) Mileage is low more in the 25 in city. 6) Service at the Honda Dealer in Westminster, CO once you've got the car it's your problem. Next car won't be a Honda already looking at the New Mazda 3X after only 18 month driving this car. Think hard Is Honda going on the past history and not living up to their promises. All good things come to an end.......Only thing IT IS Better is the Subaru Crosstreck which we all know is Subaru's mistake.

Purchased my car July 11th and loved it beause, who doesn't love a new car. At first I loved the ride it felt like a truck and I nicked named it my baby buggy. Cute right? Until I started experience whiplash syptoms. I'm feeling every bump and spring and for weeks now I haven't been able to move my neck or sleep comfortably. I'm considering taking an MRI today so there documents to request a trade to a sad an. I wasn't in an accident and I am rather fit person. Walk, swim, and do yoga. This is outrageous.

I love this car...except two weeks in it was making a horrible noise. The noise stopped and the dealer told me a rock had probably gotten stuck behind the brake plate. Freak occurrence, right? Then, it happened again yesterday, while driving in a rainstorm in unfamiliar territory. I stopped the car, then accelerated quickly and the noise went away. A second freak occurrence? I will check with the dealer when I'm back home. Feels like a rough start 6 weeks in.

The car itself is great. What you will realize after driving for a while is that the seat will cause back pain. It is because the seat tips backward a bit. No matter how you adjust it, it will be uncomfortable. If you like sitting up straight - don't buy this car.

Can not find a better SUV -This is my third CR-V

Get a "Price Promise" using Edmund's online to find dealers in your area that will sell at the True Market price. I contacted Fowler Honda in Oklahoma City and I was able to get a CR-V for over $2,000 under the MSRP and at 0.9% financing for 60%. Honda CR-V is the best value in my opinion. The quality of the interior is just superior to other SUVs in the same price range. Mileage is very good, better than most SUVs and it looks very stylish, especially the "cooper sunset" a beautiful new color. I love the CR-V EX has a passenger side camera so you can see your blind spot when turning right or just in close city driving. Also, I love the key-less entry, so that you can have the key in your pocket (or purse ladies) and walk up to the car and grab any handle and the door opens ( big plus when you are carrying a package or it is raining. The 7 inch LCD monitor is bright and easy to see. It is so easy to backup with the larger 7 inch view and the monitor displays yellow curved lines so you and see where you are backing up and the lines change as you turn the steering wheel so you can easily back up between two cars everytime.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Likes- As far as mpg is concerned I've gotten anywhere from 23-38 depending on outside temperature and highway vs country roads. The magic seats are what originally sold me on the car and I still really like them. I also really like the fact that if I take the front wheel off of my bike that I can stand it up in the back with the seats down. Tons of space for hauling stuff in this car! I keep my music on a thumb drive and was impressed that it can be seen in folders on the display! Dislikes- The paint seems to scratch rather easily which is annoying. I wish the armrest was useful in this car as well as it's not in the right position to use it as one. I also really love the heated seats, but the low setting is barely noticeable. Front seats could be more comfortable. My Accord was amazingly comfortable so this car was an adjustment. (I test drove the leather version of this and found that the lumbar was wayyy too much for me)

I love this car. This is my first SUV and Honda, I bought this car used and am very impressed with it. It does carry interior noise but tolerable other than that I have good power even on ecco drive. Good purchase for me, not too big not too small.

I had a 2018 Honda CRV, which I loved. I had always wanted the HRV. I got the CRV because I drove a lot and I felt safer. Now my commute is only 3 miles, so I made the decision to 'downgrade'. Only I don't feel this is a downgrade at all, even though it is used. I love this vehicle!

Electric Brake and electric start issues

For the 2nd time in 4 months the electric brake has gone out. In between those times the electric start went out. This is the 3rd Honda I’ve owned and couldn’t been happier until now. Honda has failed me with this one.

I bought the HRV EX-L, A 2016 WITH 44,500 miles on it. It's an absolutely AMAZING little SUV! I'm in love with it and it will be with me permanently. I can't understand why the previous/original buyer traded it in, but I'm thrilled that they did. What a find!

Fantastic SUV. Great gas mileage, trunk space with rear seats up or down and magic seats when hauling items of odd sizes, like tall luggage cases. Right side camera is a blessing when passing vehicles and reversing. I've driven mine from Missouri to Utah, Utah to Texas, Texas to Florida, Florida to New York and all states between. My only problem is I'm long legged and my right leg rests next the console. Driver leg room is a problem on LONG trips. Wanted buy another but they had not updated to digital dash, which my wife wanted.

Unreliable

My car is not even 8 years old with 100,000 miles. Out of nowhere, with no warning sign, the transmission died on me. Now they want $8,000 to repair it (on a car that is now worth not even $9,000). My car is barely outside of the warranty zone to get the new transmission for free. It’s like the moment I went over the warranty in mileage it broke. Honda would not help me or show any sympathy. I thought Hondas were supposed to drive a lot longer than 8 years. This was extremely disappointing and now I have to purchase a new car. I will not be purchasing from Honda again.

Leased, then purchased. Car runs great. Besides oil changes & tires, only replaced the brakes. Otherwise, everything is original. When leased, went with front wheel drive only. That's all we need, even here in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Tried a 2024 model, and didn't like it as well...

Fine under 73mph

I can't speak for the rest of the HRV line, but I bought my 2016 HRV LX AWD 6 weeks ago and like it very much...except when I get on the freeway and drive it 73 mph or over. It goes from a solid , smooth driving car to one that vibrates excessively. I took it into Racine Honda after 5 days and complained about it. They took it out for a "test drive" and the "service guy" said he didn't feel any vibration and suggested that it was a new car, tight suspension, etc etc. Car was fine in his opinion. Bottom line, not looking forward to any long roadtrips with this car:(

What was really disappointing for this vehicle was the mechanicals. Shifting, powering down and starting up is very rough.

This is more of a question than a review. I'm looking to buy a Honda HRV. Are they easy cars to do work on myself or do I have to bring this to a shop or dealer?
