I bought my car in March 21 2017 , great car until now I am disappointed with Honda repair service, they can’t figure out the problem I’m taking my car in for the second time in this month. I hope the issue gets taken care.

The Best SUV I Found

I had an 8-year-old Ford Escape and was looking for a new mid-size SUV. I researched them all, and ended up test driving the Kia Sorrento, the Ford Escape, the Honda CRV, and a couple of Hyundai's. After the test drives I narrowed the field to the first three, in that order. I then reluctantly eliminated the Sorrento (a very comfortable car) because it was larger than I needed, did not get particularly good mileage. (I found that all of these SUV's are rather similar in body style and basic features; all were good to drive.) I then test drove the Escape and the CRV again. Both were excellent. The Escape had a bit more power while the CRV better gas mileage and a better ride. The determining factor was the overall package: the CRV-EX had all the features I wanted, such as adjustable cruise control and Android Auto, while the Escape lacked the former unless I went to the Titanium, the top (and most expensive) model. I decided on the CRV and have been very happy with my choice. The car has everything I could ask for. The ride is luxuriously comfortable, the steering precise and the engine is peppy enough for the way I drive. I'm getting over 30mpg with mostly city driving. The interior is well appointed and the car is a pleasure to drive.

Honda CR-V 2017 Plagued with TPMS issues

I would not advise purchasing the vehicle. It is so new that dealerships do not know how to repair issues with the car. I have taken my car for the same TPMS issue that has occurred 5 times and they are still unable to fix the issue. Now I am stuck waiting for a specialist to come out within 1-2 weeks with one day warning to get my car into the dealership. They have replaced all my tires and admit to not knowing what is going on. The dealership now says it is between me and corporate honda. corporate honda is unwilling to provide me a loaner car. Even though tpms is required by law.

Very Noisy Car

Josh, 08/13/2017

Something almost none of the car reviewers out there will tell you is how loud this car is on the highway. The sound dampening material on this car is very poor making for a very loud cabin at highway speeds. The rest of the car is pretty good it's comfortable to drive for long trips (except for the noise), the power is good, cargo capacity is good and it looks pretty good except Honda continues to out do itself with ugly wheels. The engine is okay, it is very fuel efficient averaging roughly 32 mpg @ 76 mph on road trips fully loaded with 4 passengers. The turbo lag takes some getting used to and eco mode makes it almost undrivable in a city setting but shifting to sport mode keeps the motor in the powerband and it is a fun car to drive. The infotainment center leaves a lot to be desired while it does a good job if you mostly just leave it in one mode switching between connected device and a conventional radio/satellite radio source takes a lot of button pushes and is very distracting. Apple CarPlay is great but again switching to another source should be a easier. Also a play/pause button on the steering wheel would be nice. Overall it is a pretty good car except for the road noise. It is the first thing new passengers comment on when the go for a ride and it has me contemplating trading it in for a different car.

2017 CRV with 1.5 Turbo Engine - ENGINE ISSUES

Teresa L, 03/19/2018

On February 23, 2018, my car which has 5500 miles on it, started making a horrible noise and began losing power while on the highway. The noise continued throughout the weekend. We made an appointment with dealership immediately. Honda Corporate and the Service Manager determined through video chats and conference calls that the cams were destroyed in my engine. They believe this had to do with fuel and oil mixing and getting into the engine. Honda Corporate (800-999-1009) requested that dealership replace the Head of the Engine. They have no fix for the problem with the fuel and oil mixing and destroying the engine. The Service Manager said because the government is involved due to emissions, this issue will be continuing, and at this time there is no fix. He also stated that Corporate informed him this was a Regional issue due to our climate, and they are currently trying to figure out a software fix for the problem. No resolution at this point. Corporate further stated that they are seeing this issue when the temperature is between 10 and 30 degrees. I was offered a 100,000 extended warranty and recommended that I go to the dealer every 500 miles to get an oil change to see if fuel is mixing with the oil. Shocked at the lack of resolution, I asked the Service Manager if Honda Corporate was comfortable giving me my car back after the cams were replaced with no resolution, and he said Yes. I do not believe this is ethical at all for Honda to not have a fix to an engine problem that could endanger myself and/or my family. I am not comfortable taking this car back knowing that the engine could be “scorched” again while driving to a destination. It is neither safe nor prudent to drive a vehicle that has such engine problems considering it has less than 6000 miles. This is a BRAND NEW Car! On day 19 with no car and not final resolution in sight. I am required to pick up my car when the head is replaced. PLEASE DO NOT purchase the 2017/2017 CRV EX 1.5 turbo models. There is no fix to the oil/gas problem!!!

This is in response to "John R on 06/14/2017" on the ACC issues that he is having with his 2017 CRV. My wife and I purchased a 2017 CRV EX-L without Navi on a Wednesday and that Saturday our ACC shut down. We took it to the dealership and they claimed that the factory did not set the system up correctly. After 3.5 hours at the dealership we where on our way out the door. The very next Saturday we had the very same thing occur again. We have our Sun Pass for automated toll payments just under the forward sensing system module which is right behind the rear view mirror, for which the dealership stated has been known to cause issues with the ACC system. They moved the Sun Pass and re-calibrated the system again (Claiming that there was another update for the system) and out the door we where. 35 days into ownership my wife was driving on a toll road when the shadow of an eagle on the road caused the ACC system to bring the vehicle to an emergency stop in the middle of the highway. Thankfully she was only one on the road at the time. (Speed limit on road is 65 MPH) 44 days/2300 miles into ownership on the CRV I was going through GA up I-75 when my ACC system shut once again. I contacted the dealership that the system had shut down again and they stated for me to bring it to them so they could trouble shoot the system. The Service writer had also informed me that 2 other CRV's at that dealership where having the same issue and they had to replace the transmissions to resolve the issue with ACC. I returned to my home town took them the vehicle, and they now have had my vehicle for 4 days and with a few parts replaced they are claiming to have corrected the issue this time. (the fix, they had to replace the forward monitoring module and camera which is behind and below the "H" on the front of the vehicle). We are currently working with the dealership to take back the CRV because my wife and I have lost our confidence in the safety system of our CRV. The dealership has been great. The service writer did state that all of the data that he has seen through Honda that the 2017 CRV is the only vehicle having this issue with the ACC and it is only a hand full of them. The fit and finish could be a bit better, ex. heated seat don't get very hot/anemic power ($700 through Hondata will fix this)/leather seats are not all leather seating surface/carpeting is very thin and very cheap (just offer the Poly Weather Tech mates and call it even)/paint is very thin (bugs on front for 2 day and now the paint shows marks where the bugs were/waxing the vehicle you must use extreme care because you can buckle the hood and some of the body sides. (seems like stretched aluminum foil). Headlights fog up ALOT and chrome finish accents for headlights does not seem to fit right.

Never buy Honda CR-V

I bought a new Honda CR-V EX 2017 in February 2017 from the dealership, Castle Honda, in Morton Grove, IL. The car has problem getting started and, as a result, has become very unreliable and undependable. It has happened four times already and three times in less than last three weeks. First time the problem happened in August 2017 when I tried to start it after not driving it for a week when I was in vacation. I was able to jump start it with my other car. Second time the problem happened on 12/11/2017 and I was not able to jump start the car. I had to call the Honda roadside assistance on 12/12/2017 to tow the car but the tow truck guy was able to jump start the car. I drove the car to Castle Honda, the service department did some testing of the battery and said the battery was fine and they did not know the reason for the problem. I told them about the tailgate door not working properly as well, they tested that also and informed me that the struts were broken and and they ordered those parts. I drove back the car home hoping that the problem was fixed. I drove the car to Castle Honda again on 12/14/2017 to install the tailgate door struts. I am yet to find out what else is wrong with this car. Third time the problem happened on 12/29/2017 and I was not able to jump start the car. I called the Honda roadside assistance and this time they sent a guy to jump start the car. I drove the car to Castle Honda, the service department tested the battery again and said the battery was fine and they did not know the reason for the problem. They told me to tow the car next time the problem reoccured. I again drove the car home hoping that the problem was fixed. Fourth time the problem happened was on 12/31/2017. I had to wait and seek roadside assistance on 1/2/2018 as the dealership was closed on 12/31/2017 and 1/1/2018. I called the Honda roadside assistance around 6.30 AM and requested specifically for the car to be towed, they said the expected time was between 3 and 8 hours. The tow truck showed up to pick up the car around 11 AM. The tow truck guy from J-TEAM AUTOMOTIVE declined to tow the car and started showing lots of silly excuses of why he could not do it. I did not want to let him go and wait another 5 hours before any help arrived and so I let him jump start the car. I drove the car to Castle Honda and turned it off while waiting in the queue in front of me, the car could not be started after that. The dealership service department tested the battery and this time found the battery to have issues and replaced it. I do not know if this will resolve the issues with the car and the car continues to be as unreliable and undependable as it were. It appears to me that the dealership sold me a faulty car which has caused me lots of inconvenience and has costed me quite a bit in terms of hassle, time spent on the issues and missed work. I have been in contact with American Honda since 12/11/2017 and they have opened up a case on my car. The case manager keeps telling me that they bear no responsibility for the dealership or the roadside assistance and also only thing American Honda can do is to fix any issue the car may have since that’s what warranty is for. He does not appear to understand that having too many issues like I experience make Honda CR-V a inferior quality product, American Honda a low-grade manufacturer and Castle Honda a low-grade dealer. I have extremely negative customer experience with Honda CR-V, American Honda and Castle Honda. I will never buy any Honda product and tell others not to buy Honda products as well. I spoke with others recently and learned that battery problem is common for this car. I will never buy a Honda automobile. The car again failed to start on 10/26/19. I requested roadside assistance to send someone to tow the car and absolutely no jump start. The tow truck guy start making excuses as to why the car needs jump start to put the car in the tow truck and jump started it and put the car in the tow truck. We then towed the car to Castle Honda where they told me to leave the car for inspection and fixing. They informed me later that the battery failed the test and they replaced the battery. I drove the car home on the same day. The car again became dead on 11/2/19. I requested roadside assistance to send someone to tow the car and absolutely no jump start. This time the tow truck lady took all the effort including use of skating to put the car in the tow truck. We then towed the car to Castle Honda where they told me to leave the car for inspection and fixing. Castle Honda informed me over the phone on 11/4/19 that the battery failed the test and they replaced the battery and still testing the car. It is now 6.05 PM on 11/5/19 and the car is at Castle Honda.

I have driven 10000 miles of which 10% are highway. I am getting 29 mpg combined. On a freeway I get 35 mpg. In the city I get 28 mpg. The car handles great, very responsive turning, solid hold of the road, digital console is wonderful, I love it. Sound is decent, bluetooth work well. Android Audio works great. I wish the back seats could slide in and out, but they are ok where they are. Overall can't compain about anything really. Great SUV.

Good bye 13 CRV EX-L, Hello 17 CRV Touring

I took my wife to the Auto Expo a few months to look at all the new cars. Big mistake! We saw the 17 CRV and knew that would be in our garage soon. It was a no brainer for me. The 13 that my wife drove was a spectacular car, very low maintenance, excellent ride and very comfortable on long trips. The only ding against it was the lack of power below 5000 rpm. Problem solved with the 17 CRV. The little 1.5 Turbo is a sweetheart, its a bit loud on full throttle acceleration, but the torque around town makes it easy to get around slower and distracted cell engaged drivers. The ride is super smooth, and the steering is to die for. The new interior is much roomier and the seats are greatly appreciated for my glass back. Tall drivers will love actually having enough legroom. I am 6ft 2 and have plenty of legroom in the front and back. Lots of technology not found in any vehicle in its class. It is a lot of car for the money, Honda is back at the top of the game again! UPDATE: 7 year/50k wrap up.I bought this vehicle in 17 to replace my wife’s 13 CRV. We paid 34k for it and it served our family very well. It never saw a dealership or garage. I did all the maintenance in my garage. Besides routine maintenance, it only needed a couple of batteries and a new shifter handle. I chose to buy the part myself and install it as I despise dealer tactics. The part cost was $25 and took 10 minutes to install. Gas mileage was good, average 24-28 in city driving and low to mid 30’s on the highway depending on speed. Handling was exceptional for a vehicle. The ride was a bit choppy but not unpleasant. Plenty of room for passengers though I never liked the drivers seat. The car was a bit small for me at 6ft2 200lbs. But it worked fine for my wife. The paint held up great despite our brutal winters here. No rust on the underside but that was probably more that I washed it weekly. No oil dilution problems, but I changed the oil early and only used Asmoil and OEM Honda Filter. Sold it Carmax for 18.5k. 50% resale for a car we drove daily for 8 years. Very happy with this car and that is why I drive a 22 Honda Ridgeline BE and I just bought a 24 Acura RDX. I will continue to buy Honda products as long as they stay reliable and affordable to own.

I've owned my Touring AWD for 3 weeks and love driving it. It's very comfortable and fun to drive. This is my first car with a CVT transmission and I'm still getting use to that. I didn't care for the RIM design at first. But, love them after seeing them in motion. I hope they don't scratch off the black finish when I take it for tire rotations. The engine noise can be a little loud on acceleration, but I can live with it. I'd definitely recommend the EX or higher trim to get the Honda sensing features. Those are fantastic!! Right now I'm getting 26mpg city driving in a lot of stop and go traffic as I drive during rush our to work each way.
